Absolutely lovely experience! Everything was at the perfect pace. The server was delightful and the food was delicious. We did not feel rushed at all and it was so nice to disappear from the world for a few hours in this cozy space. We tried many things from the menu, including the focaccia and buttermilk whipped ricotta, the Calabrian honey wings, and the meatloaf. For dessert, a Scratch Ice Cream Sundae. It was also a nice surprise to learn that they had Happy Hour cocktails until 7 pm on a Saturday! We enjoyed several. To top off the night, we each got a piece of apple cake for free. Our server explained they had extra tonight because of snow related reservation cancellations and they didn't want it to go to waste. This put our experience over the top. We can't wait to return!

I visited Scratch & Co. for a group event and had a marvelous time! It was a cozy, friendly, and delicious experience! The cocktails were on point, and watching them make two different cocktails at a time without missing a beat was fun. They had delicious focaccia and house made giardinera / pickles for us to snack They served our dinner family-style - butternut squash soup, meatloaf, chicken, cauliflower, carrots, and potatoes were all super tasty - impressive for a small restaurant with so many people in our party (about 30)!!! The staff were friendly, helpful, and welcoming - we will be back!!!

A dimly lit, intimate restaurant that's perfect for a date night. Everyone on the floors fills the roll as bar tender, server, and host. It was neat watching the teamwork. We both ordered the steak and it was cooked perfectly. Definitely one of the better steaks I've had in the city. For our sides we split the smashed potatoes, which I'm still dreaming about, and the carrots. I'd skip the carrots next time and try something else. Everything was so garlicy and I'm not mad about it!!

11/22/2025 Ate list: Meatloaf - 10 Chocolate Chip Cookies w/ Ice Cream - 10 Olive Oil Cake - 8 From the reservation to when we left the restaurant - this was a five stars experience. My wife, while making the reservation, made note of her severe food allergies. When we arrived, we were handed a personalized menu that the chef had already reviewed and struck out the items and/or ingredients of dishes she'd be unable to have. Amazing. Needless to say, service was up to this standard and was truly wonderful. First - the meatloaf. It was quite literally perfect. It's the best meatloaf I've had and it was a dish where I didn't know that a meatloaf could taste that good. Extraordinary. Chocolate chip cookies with Millies Vanilla Ice Cream. Cookies were warm, ice cream was perfectly soft. Few things are better than that. Not trying to suck up - personally preferred my mother in law's Olive Oil cake. BUT one of the first times I've personally seen the dish on a menu. Was thoroughly impressed. Truly lives up to and deserves five stars. Hope to return soon.

This place was SO good. Cute vibes, great service, and the food was top tier. Highly recommend saving room for dessert and getting the apple crisp!

Went for a brunch with a private party. The food was excellent as were the cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks. With a larger party, the pacing of the food (small private buffet) was a bit behind because we all hit it at once, but after that things were smooth. The donuts and grits were my favorite!

Fantastic!!! I am so happy to have found and dined here! Such a cozy restaurant with seats right by the window making for a great evening. The food was wonderful. The service was amazing. Vibes were great! Started off with focaccia and whipped ricotta. Some of the lightest, airiest, delectable focaccia I've had. Ricotta was the chef's kiss. Cucumber salad was so flavorful and packed with texture variety! Minty, salty from pistachios, fresh, and delicious! I had the meatloaf for my entree, and it was the best meatloaf I've had. Thick, hearty, and seasoned to perfection. Best meatloaf in Pittsburgh! Fried onions on top... my mouth is watering for more. We split some asparagus, and it was loaded with dill and a touch of heat. Fantastic, shareable side dish! My wife got the fusilli, and the bites I had were excellent. A little jealous of her - I wanted this dish too! For dessert, the cookies come out freshly baked and warm. A touch of sea salt and some ice cream... what an epic bite! We also had the olive oil cake, which was very good. A little dense compared to other olive oil cakes, but it didn't lack any flavor. I loved the walnut and apricots. I also want to add everything tasted fresh and clean. We weren't disgustingly full after the meal, which I credit to their farm-to-table approach. We cannot wait to come back for more!!!

Great cozy atmosphere. They have seasonal cocktails that are unique and interesting (one had tahini foam, incredible), as well as a dealer's choice cocktail which is fun. Wine program could use a little work, but that's okay. The service is very attentive and pleasant! The food was fresh, unique, and has a focus on local ingredients. Our favorites were the wings, Campanelle (pictured), pickle plate, and Muhammara spread.

Wow! I've been wanting to go here for some time and so happy I finally made it. The atmosphere inside is very cozy and bright. Our server was very friendly and attentive. We got the tomato salad to share and oh my gosh was it fantastic. So fresh and juicy. I've been craving tomatoes that tasted like this ever since our trip to Italy last year. The blt was super flavorful with the aoli, fresh tomatoes and lettuce and thick bacon on their fresh focaccia. The cocktails were creative and balanced. I tried the dealers choice cocktail and it tasted amazing. Can't wait to come back here.

Went for brunch on Sunday, was able to get a spot at the bar around 9:30 am. I would recommend making a reservation in the future, it gets busy! Service was very quick and food was very good. It was my first time getting shakshouka, and it was delicious! Not too spicy, and the focaccia it was paired with was very tasty. Great portions and a cute spot! Would love to go back and try their dinner menus.

Scratch&Co. in Troy Hill is a destination dining experience! The service is outstanding, the brunch menu is super creative. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming with a classic, genuine boho vibe. On the surface, the brunch menu includes the typical build your own bagels, donuts, and a traditional breakfast platter. Dig a little deeper and you will find unique bagel toppings and ingredients and options such as shakshuka and miso grits. At the heart of the Scratch & Co. vision is supporting local farms, breweries and distilleries, creating menus that use the freshest ingredients. We just went for brunch before visiting the Troy Hill Art Houses (another review) but it was worth the terrifying trip up Rialto St.

Okay so let me start by saying it was a Steeler Sunday and my non-football friends picked the place, but I absolutely adored it and didn't even follow the game after everyone got there. I will say I was a bit disappointed bc I saw a menu with a bourbon drink I wanted and the current menu didn't have it (and in fact had most drinks made with gin, which I don't like at all) so I went with an old fashioned. I started with the raised grape jam filled doughnut, which I shared with the table. It wasn't bad, I do wish it was warmed a bit but that's my preference. My one friend said the jam was very Concord grape, which he adored. I then order the breakfast sandwich which was THE best. Idk the flavors just all paired well and there was no seasoning that over powered it. The brioche bun was fluffy and I could have eaten that with some butter and jam (like a biscuit). All and all the food was 10/10. The restaurant y was average noise but it also was not packed so it may differ based on capacity. Our waiter was nice but I feel like he was annoyed with our table, not sure just a vibe I felt so much so that I didn't ask my norm for a new restaurant, which is what do you recommend. All and all definitely should be added to your stops of hidden gems!

When we walked in, the host greeted us right away, asked for our name, and seated us pretty quickly. There were actually a good amount of open seats, so I am not sure reservations were completely necessary, but it was still nice to have one. I honestly expected the inside to feel more extravagant and space themed, almost like an outer space vibe with more visual elements and atmosphere. I was hoping for something more immersive and futuristic. It was still cool overall, just not quite as visually dramatic as I imagined. We ordered an espresso martini and the Kiwi Nova. I really enjoyed my drink, especially after talking with the host who explained that they use scientific processes for their cocktails along with fresh purées and fresh ingredients. That is something I really appreciate because I am not a fan of drinks made with a lot of simple syrup or fake additives. He loved his espresso martini and said it was one of the best he has had. My drink was definitely on the sweeter side and I feel like too much of it might lead to a hangover, but it was still really good. Our server was attentive at first, but later on we ended up waiting a while to order another round. After sitting for a bit, we decided to order through the hostess instead and she got us taken care of right away. Overall, it was a cool experience mainly for the drinks. The cocktails were definitely the highlight. Service was okay, and I am not sure if we will return, but I am glad we finally got to check it out.

I've heard so many mixed things that I have to say I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed every aspect of my experience. It kind of has dive bar vibes but the food and drink options are definitely on the elevated side. They open at 4 on Sundays and I got there around 4:15. It was already pretty busy (and by the time I was leaving, every single table and bar stool were occupied). They have standard booth seats along the windows, hightop tables in the middle and bar seating along the bar that curves along the back of the restaurant. I chose to sit at the bar since I was by myself. I was promptly greeted by the bartender. They don't hand you copies of the menu, you have to scan the QR code to access. It is easy to read and follow with sections for drinks, specials (this time they were Wicked themed as a nod to the show at the Benedum) and a sushi section. I ordered the street corn dip. The chips were a bit overcooked and the dip was just OK. I thought it was pricey for what you got. The star of my meal, though, was the patty melt. It had the burger, a bacon jam, caramelized onions and was absolutely delicious! It was served with fries. I considered ordering sushi but wasn't sure what to expect. The patrons sitting on either side of my ordered rolls and they were a nice size and looked delicious, so that is something I would consider ordering in the future. It was a place I'll likely be back to because of the proximity to the theater (although their prices definitely reflect that). Just note how crowded it always is and give yourself plenty of time if you plan on heading here for dinner before the show.
