I've been to G's twice. It is a really nice neighborhood restaurant. They have 37 different Gins!!! They do a rotating set of gin cocktails, tonight I started with a hendrick's cucumber gimlet. I really liked it. It was a little sweet, but I like it that way. We shared the mushroom tart. It was loaded with mushrooms, with a little whipped feta on top. It was super delicious. I got the butternut squash risotto with grilled shrimp. The flavor was great, with browned butter. I would have liked a little more butternut squash pieces, but loved it anyway. One dinner got the pot roast which was perfectly cooked with a delicious. The only dish that was below part was the veal meatballs with spaghetti. Just a little plain and dry, maybe I'm just not a veal fan! We ended with a lemon brûlée. WOW! Love the lemon flavor, with a little crispy top. we will definitely be back! read more

This is such a fun neighborhood restaurant/bar in Bloomfield. We popped by on a Friday night and they had a Whitley Gin tasting going on which was a fun way to start our night and a live acoustic musician that performed a super fun set. For cocktails, we tried the French 75 and a Gin cocktail that were both really good. The Prosecco on tap was decent and we had a glass of red wine that was very good. The Yellowtail Tuna Tower appetizer was super delicious. You definitely have to try that one and the Firecracker chicken cups were really good too. We tried the scallops over capellini and the corn/sun dried tomato ravioli and enjoyed both of these dishes. This is such a nice neighborhood spot and G is a lovely host. read more

Really love it here! We have popped in several times. They are always busy, but we usually get a table quickly. Everything we've tried on the menu has been amazing! This place truly deserves more hype. It's the level of fine dining cooking, but casual and reasonably priced. I dropped by and was wonderfully surprised by their menu. It might've changed by now but the food was amazing and original. There's lots of dishes I've never tried before and even classic dishes strawberry cheesecake was beautifully made. Each appetizer and entree did not disappoint and was made with attention to detail. The plattering was also so pretty. Price was very affordable for the quality of the food. I love having a neighborhood cocktail bar! It's a great spot for a pop-in, sit at the bar, after dinner drink. Sarah, the one bartender, makes great cocktails. My current favorite is the spicy cosmo. They also have a decent wine selection, and the bubbly on tap is a fun addition! I haven't tried their dinner, but it's definitely on my list to try at some point. The ambiance is cute, I definitely like their front room the best. My only complaint is that they close on the earlier side - I would happily have stayed later if we could! Our first visit here and will be a must stop next time we are in town. Food was fantastic (pot roast, Italian herb chicken, salmon) and our server was great. Food portions were on the larger side so bring an appetite! Dessert was equally good! We have been meaning to come here for quite some time now. I've heard all good things. On a rare Friday night off my husband and I both decided to walk. We sat at the bar but there were plenty of tables open. Our bartender Cassie was wonderful! She made great suggestions on what to order. Made my husband a yummy "mock tail" as well. We shared the meatball appetizer and tuna appetizers. We shared the shrimp gnocchi. Right away you can tell that the gnocchi was homemade. Light and fluffy ! The portions are generous we were to full to get a dessert. The couple sitting next to us had a dessert that looked so good so hopefully next time. Snagged a reservation day of dining here; however they seemed to have lost it but were very accommodating when I showed up and were able to seat me. Interior seems to be recently renovated and has a modern feel and is cozy. Cocktails are pretty good, they are all classics but done very well, I do love a good corpse reviver. Sadly they were out of a few appetizers and entrees I was really looking forward to, so I ended up ordering the carpaccio and the lamb meatloaf. My wife is historically not a fan of carpaccio, but was very impressed with the one here. I really enjoyed my meatloaf, it was quite flavorful and had a nice seared crust for that delectable crunch. Admittedly I was pretty disappointed with a few of the items not being available despite it only being 730 on a Saturday, but the ones I did order left a good impression on me. Basement features wine on tap! Menu is full of classics at surprisingly decent prices. I was lucky to try a few dishes at a preview event. The lobster grilled cheese was absolutely delicious & indulgent. The short rib with Cabernet demi glacé was another favorite, so full of flavor. This restaurant is one to check out the menu is huge. First, every staff member was great. The venue was welcoming and casual. Food wise...I feel this place was like 1 thing away from perfection in all 3 times. The Asian prepared duck wings had amazing flavor but were very very tough...easy to do if not cooked properly. The fish tacos were phenomenal from the crispy batter to the fresh jalapeño slaw...it just needed an aioli or some sort of sauce for a home run. The best item was the smoked salmon dip. Oh my gosh! As a visitor to Pittsburgh, you couldn't find a better place to eat and make friends! I made reservations for a Thursday evening and glad I did! The place was packed. They were quite busy, so it was a bit of a wait. Nothing unreasonable. Our waiter, Rob, was pleasant and helpful, apologetic for the wait. We get it, no fret! Hubs and I were impressed by the drink menu. The gin options were very comprehensive. I opted for a Manhattan with the Botanist. It was very floral and flavorful. Our appetizer comes. The lamb meatballs are giant! The fried onions makes it a bit messy to navigate, delicious nonetheless. The tabbouleh was heavy on the lemon, so make sure to blend the items. I ordered the shrimp linguine, but they were out of linguine and substituting with bucattini. Some places only offer a few shrimp and that's it, but G's made you feel like you got your money's worth. The shrimp was cooked to perfection. The noodles were cooked al dented and paired well with the plate. Hubs ordered the salmon. It was a nice size portion. He did the chef's recommendation of medium and ate every bite of the fish. The crispy polenta was an interesting component and perhaps a bit too heavy. We enjoyed our experience but found the main dining room a bit louder for our liking. It's very different than Alexander's where we could have a more intimate experience. We'll definitely try again and do the bar area, which had fewer tables. read more

We were able to discuss some of the menu items and a few other things. We started with the hummus that was called Ethiopian hummus or something. I have heard incredible things about G's from Yelpers, influencers, and family and friends! I have anxiously been waiting for it to open since I first heard about it, especially because it is right down the street from me. My boyfriend and I decided to go for a date night on Tuesday. Good thing we got there right at 5 pm for happy hour, because the whole restaurant was full by 5:30. We thought - wow this is the new place to be! The atmosphere is bright and new. I liked that they gave us nice, heavy duty menus and a drink menu. For happy hour they had $5, $6, and $7 drinks. I ordered a glass of Cabernet that was $2 off. My boyfriend ordered an Arsenal Cider to which our waitress said "Ha jokes on you!" She explained that "even though Arsenal was right down the street, the restaurant never went to pick it up". She said that "it had been on the menu since they opened, but they have never served it". That seemed strange, but wasn't an issue. A waiter then brought chips and queso to our table, to which I told him wasn't ours. Our waitress came over and asked if everything was okay and why we didn't want the chips, and I told her we didn't order them. She said we could have them and she wouldn't charge us. The table next to us looked over and said "Wow they are really confused tonight". It seemed like the food runners, bartenders, and wait staff didn't have great communication. We ordered apps and entrees, and watched our apps come out as the waiter looked for which table they went to. We tried to flag him down, but he never came over. Our waitress then came over to see if we ordered those apps the waiter had and we said yes. She asked why we told him they weren't (we didn't ?), and then seemed annoyed with him that he didn't bring them over. It was a very weird and awkward dining experience. However, the food was amazing! My boyfriend's french onion soup was so savory and delicious, and you can tell it had been cooked for a long time. We both loved it. We also enjoyed the surprise free chips and queso. I tried the fresh beet and smoked goat cheese terrine. Wow, I had never had anything like that before. It was incredible! So smoky and creamy. I spread it on the crostini with the orange vinaigrette. I will 100% order this again! Our entrees came out pretty quickly after. My boyfriend ordered the buttermilk fried chicken with mashed potatoes, carrots and mushrooms. He asked for no mushrooms, but when they came out on the plate I ate them for him. ;) The portion was huge, and his mashed potatoes were awesome! I didn't try his chicken, but he really enjoyed it. We were impressed with how huge the chicken breast was. He thought for sure there would be a big bone in it when he cut into it. The chicken was really thick and looked very moist. I ordered sesame seared tuna. It was served with a glass noodle salad with shredded red cabbage, carrots, cucumbers, green onion, pickled sprouts, cilantro, and sesame soy vinaigrette. The sesame tuna was also a large portion and was seared perfectly to my liking. I really enjoyed the first few bites of it. I then tried a few bites of the salad which had a super spicy chile sauce on it. I then kept chewing what I thought was a peppercorn or sesame seed and spit out a piece of metal! It must have been a bristle or piece of steel wool or something since it was very small. It did hurt to bite into it, but I was very thankful that I didn't swallow it! A waiter took our appetizer plates when he brought our entrees, but our waitress hadn't been over since taking our order. No one filled our waters the whole meal until I asked when we got the check. We sat there for 45 minutes after being done eating before our waitress came over. I understand places are super understaffed, and she was very busy working behind the bar, but many customers visibly needed the wait staff's attention. She apologized when I told her about the metal in my salad and brought over her manager. I told her it was okay and the food was still great. She apologized and didn't charge me for my tuna dinner. I was a little bit grossed out that she picked up the metal piece with her fingers "so she didn't lose it" after I had spit it out. It was very nice that she comped my meal, especially because I was scared to keep eating the salad. I will keep in mind to plan to be at this restaurant for a very long time since the service is slow. We were there for 2 full hours. At 4 am my boyfriend woke me up because he got violently ill. The only thing he ate that I didn't was the chicken. He thinks that the chicken may have been undercooked and gave him food poisoning. I am so bummed to write this review, because I do believe this must have been a one off bad night for the restaurant. Maybe they had several people call off, or were just exceptionally busy. I do plan to give it another chance since so many menu items sounded delicious, and I hope to update my review after visiting again. read more

It's a minor update, with tweaks to the entrees and appetizers. Unfortunately the lobster grilled cheese gone for now. I have never felt more of an inconvenience as a paying customer before, and this is not the first time at this restaurant. Immediately when we got to G's, the male bartender scoffs at us as if he were upset to have customers at the (empty) bar. I've dealt with him before and have had similar experiences. Without handing us a drink menu, he then asks what we would like to drink. Asked for a menu and he rolled his eyes. Ordered our drinks and they were good. We then had to borderline beg for a food menu at least 5 minutes after we were served our drinks. He then rudely rolls his eyes and says "yeah, hold on" while he proceeds to make 4 drinks for other customers. We spoke to another lady who handed us our menus and when he saw this, audibly scoffed, shook his head, and rolled his eyes. This was our last straw. I left cash to pay for the drinks and we walked out. This service was truly disgusting. That bartender actively drove us (and I'm sure others) away from the restaurant. If you are under 45 years old do not expect good service here at all. Truly embarrassing and ruined our night. I will NEVER be back, and will actively tell others not to go here. Okay okay okay..... I love it here. I started with the caesar salad 10 out of 10. Then I had the Mongolian chicken tacos (forgot to get a pic) they were absolutely amazing. I had the Potato Gnocchi for an entree it was so savory and made me feel like I was eating in front of a fireplace. My daughter (she's 10) had the tomato soup and lobster grilled cheese. G's is a nice addition to Bloomfield. Its predecessor, Alexander's, was a nondescript Italian restaurant and bar. The food was average at best, and it had a wrap-around bar with nothing special about it. The place was completely renovated to become G's. You'd never recognize it... It looks nice now! The gin menu is quite extensive, and I don't think that I've seen anything like it outside of the UK. We started with the chicken dumpling soup, which was delicious and ample. I had the duck beast and my wife had the short rib. Both were delicious, and expertly prepared. This is the kind of place that I would make a destination out of, but I can walk to it! How can you lose? For what the quality is, the price is reasonable. But possibly more expensive than Bloomfield is used to. We'll see how it works out, but I'm hoping for the best. read more

A gorgeous new space with bright lighting, an amazing dining space, and attentive servers. On opening night I expected some bumps and delays, and found none. My drink and salad were delivered simultaneously, and as soon as I finished my salad my entree was set in front of me. Aside from the impeccable and friendly service, the food is absolutely divine. The Caesar salad deserves its own painting and the shrimp linguine was divine. As someone who comes from the Gulf Coast where shrimp dishes are the norm, this was the best shrimp linguine I've ever had. I can't recommend this restaurant highly enough. I was greeted personally by the manager and the owner, and several servers asked my opinion on the dishes I ordered so they could get a better feel for how to describe flavors to their next patrons. They all added joy to our celebration and when we left at the end of the evening, I felt like we were all friends. And not to forget the food - everything we had was excellent! New spot in Bloomfield! They have only been open for a month and a half and they are a very well oiled machine. This place was jam packed! Friendly service and delicious food options. Maybe too jam packed? I wish there was some more space between the tables - it definitely felt tight. I really loved the options on the menu - I had the short rib with Mac and cheese. It was cooked well and had great flavoring. There was a fried chicken option my date had and enjoyed it very much as well. I really liked the bar area and would enjoy going out for a drink there for sure. I also had the French onion soup and I love French onion soup - this one was disappointing. It wasn't that heavy over the top cheesy goodness I prefer - it was a cheese crusted bread atop the soup. It was good - but no where close to a favorite. The soup broth was okay. It wasn't bad / probably just a preference thing. I didn't have the owner top by my table but I saw her walking around and greeting and checking in on others which I'm always a fan of. My date really really enjoyed the salad dressing - I think a balsamic. It was apparently a hit lol I didn't try it but the excitement was real. Five star in every way! Gorgeously renovated. Fantastic menu with so many options. Attentive polite staff (all are masked which we appreciated). The homemade potato chips with caramelized onion dip is amazing! Highly recommend the Beet and goat cheese terrine. The lobster and crab cake was just perfect. The tater tots salad with it was fun. Tomato soup perfect with delicious croutons. Highly recommend the rice pudding! The orange sauce and crispy topping was so creative. Chocolate pot was decadent.
