We've been wanting to try Hey Babe for a while and found an excuse to go on a Thursday evening. Parking was fairly easy in the lot behind the hotel. Upon entering, it's bustling but a table had cleared. They got it ready for us and we were seated. I suspect folks were wrapping up their happy hour deal as it slowed down steadily during our experience. The venue used to be an old gym so the layout is open and the sound bounces off making the space loud. The drink menu included a small selection of drafts, with an equal number of bottles/cans. The wine menu is more extensive and they seem to have creative cocktails. Food wise, I had a hard time deciding as the menu centered on a few similar proteins --lamb, salmon, pork belly. This place has a lot of shareable plates as well as mains. The vibes are modern and cozy, and I love what they've done with the space. I definitely want to go back to try some more of the menu! The crispy eggplant was the star of the show. Their drink selections were great and we all liked what we ordered! The crispy potatoes were yummy, but I wish there was more of the sauce. This place is a great new addition to East liberty! The cocktails are absolutely fantastic. Hard to find a place anywhere in Pittsburgh that uses true Mixologie techniques to design craft cocktails. I think the use of space was also fantastic. It's in an old gym, the lighting is not too bright but definitely not dim. There's plenty of bar seating and the table seating is very comfortable. My waiter was very attentive of our needs. The baba ghanoush is pretty good, doesn't come with enough pita though. Also got the pork belly bites, they were a bit too burnt for me which made them lose their flavor. Finally got to try out one of the newest spots in East Liberty, Hey Babe! When we walked in, the owner Rob greeted us at the door. It was pretty busy but they were on top of greeting and making a game plan to accommodate what we wanted for the evening. There was a wait but it was no fuss at all as they have an entire area with table to wait as you enjoy a drink from the bar. Rob kept an eye on all the groups waiting and got everyone seated in no time. Once we were seated, Jake greeted us with water and guided us through the menu.
