Went to hey babe back in August. So excited for this restaurant. They have great cocktails and really well prepared and presented dishes. Some highlights were the shrimp with polenta. Oh yum. The picture tells you all you need to know. And the crispy potatoes. But everything was excellent. Including the Vietnamese coffee and chocolate tart (how can you go wrong with coffee and chocolate together for dessert???)

A group of us stopped by for happy hour on Wednesday and it wasn't too difficult to get seats at the bar and a table. Their happy hour is a fantastic deal with certain discounted cocktails along with 15% off of food. The inside is fairly large with a bunch of tables, bar seating, and an overflow room of sorts across the hallway. The five-spiced pork belly was absolutely fantastic and the cocktails in general are also quite good!

A Retro Revival in East Lib with Charm to Spare, babe. Step into Hey Babe, and you're stepping into a vibe. Tucked inside the historic YMCA, once Ace Hotel- turned Maverick Hotel, this moody little lounge brings vintage soul & modern hospitality to East Liberty. Think soft lighting, curved edges, craft cocktails, and cozy plates meant to be shared -- or not, I won't judge. The name Hey Babe nods to the casual affection between co-owners Danielle Cain & Rob Hirst, and the entire space echoes that warmth. It's equal parts neighborhood hangout and cocktail haven, with standout drinks like the cheeky "Li'l Baby Jeffrey" (a smoky, citrusy mezcal mix) & the "Espresso, Babe" -- a dangerously smooth draft-tini that made me consider ordering two (spoiler alert, I did). We dove into a dreamy spread: sea salt focaccia with ramp-lemon butter (literal magic), crispy potatoes with Calabrian chili aioli, and kimchi mac & cheese with pork belly that made us weak in the knees. The masa gnocchi? Unexpected and unforgettable. The brisket biscuit? A Southern love letter. And don't sleep on dessert -- the pistachio éclair and coconut pandan panna cotta both hit just right. Their "Golden Hour" from 4-6 is *the* move: discounted drinks and 15% off food. Pair that with the effortlessly cool ambiance and you've got a spot perfect for after-work hangs with friends or a dreamy little date night. Everything was thoughtful, flavorful, and totally #GOUDapproved Hey Babe's got you, babe. sea salt whole wheat focaccia fresh thyme, ramp-lemon butter 7 crispy potatoes calabrian chili aioli, chives 9 kim chi mac & cheese gochujang, scallions, five-spiced pork belly 17 masa gnocchi smoked chicken, salsa verde, pickled red onion, cilantro, cotija, crema 25 brisket biscuit slaw, carolina gold barbecue sauce, buttermilk biscuit 24 local strawberry trifle yuzu curd, strawberry compote, whipped cream, buttermilk biscuit 13 pistachio éclair luxardo cherry mousse, dark chocolate 14 today's little something sweet coconut and pandan panna cotta with coconut streusel 6

Nice atmosphere and bar area. Stopped in for happy hour. Some drinks on special and some sm. plates discounted. Service was OK but a little, oh yeah better stop by and check on that table. The salmon tartare is very good and seemed to be popular, looked around and on many tables. The five-spice pork belly was a big hit. Heard the beet humus was really good but didn't get to try as it disappeared fast.

A lovely new hip bar with many food options - both shared plates and entrees. The babaganoush plate was delicious and beautifully plated and the crispy potatoes were everything I didn't know I needed! The service was quick and yet attentive. They have a lot of creative takes on classic cocktails here and use a lot of top shelf choices -- many that I haven't heard of before. My cocktail was strong. Might try something different next time. And I'll be back for sure!

I went back to Hey Babe for some food and it was incredible! They do not take reservations just as a heads up, but there's another room to wait in with your drinks from the bar! This place has a lot of shareable plates as well as mains. The vibes are modern and cozy, and I love what they've done with the space. I definitely want to go back to try some more of the menu! The crispy eggplant was the star of the show. Their drink selections were great and we all liked what we ordered! The crispy potatoes were yummy, but I wish there was more of the sauce. It was all at the bottom and it was so good! The crab cake was also very fresh and paired with a great topping. I forgot to take a picture of the silken tofu, and for not being a tofu fan, I really liked it! It was warm and melted onto the rest of the dish. To finish it off, we had the "little something sweet" which was perfect to end the meal!

Such an amazing time I had to return asap! Had a lovely girls cocktail night at Hey Babe and enjoyed drinks with dessert! Their monkey bread is delectable and it wasn't too packed for a Friday night so we were seated right away. Heads up that the bathroom is downstairs in a very random hallway but it should be easy to find with the signage!

We stopped in for happy hour and were really impressed by the service and the deals. The staff went above and beyond to arrange tables and seating so that our group of 6 could sit together comfortably. The $9 cocktails were perfectly made, and the small shareable plates were just right for splitting between us. Both the beet hummus and crispy eggplant were fresh, flavorful, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious.

My wife and I met with friends here for dinner and drinks and it did not disappoint! First, this restaurant is located in the Maverick hotel and second you need to be aware that they do not do reservations and when you arrive at the restaurant you seat yourselves. If you have a party of four or larger it is best to come before 6:00pm. We arrived around 5:30 and found seating for 4 people. The service there is top notch! Our server was attentive, knowledgeable about the food, professional, and our food came out fast!Drinks were excellent! Espresso, babe , oh hey, buddy, and doctor's orders were delicious! Espresso, babe was delicious with a fresh espresso. If you like a little bit of spice in your drink, doctor's orders is what you need! Small Share, Large share, and Salads: This menu was fire! For the small share we ordered: five-spiced pork belly, salmon tartare, crispy eggplant, and crispy potatoes. Let's just say we finished all of the appetizers because it was delicious and the portion size was perfect. I highly recommend those appetizers! Large share: heirloom tomato risotto was excellent! Amazing flavors and the portion size was perfect. My wife loved The Pittsburgh wedge salad and said it was fabulous and that the portion size was perfect. Our friend's ordered the strip steak and it was cooked to perfection and the glaze really added to the deliciousness. If you're looking for a nice little date night spot, come to Hey Babe!

Loved loved loved this place. The atmosphere is great, food and drinks are delicious. We went there on a Saturday night and it was busy but we were able to find a seat easily, especially since it's walk ins only. We enjoyed a handful of their cocktails, all super unique and balanced. Their food was great, on the smaller size plate wise but packed with flavor. Excited to come back!

Finally got to try out one of the newest spots in East Liberty, Hey Babe! When we walked in, the owner Rob greeted us at the door. It was pretty busy but they were on top of greeting and making a game plan to accommodate what we wanted for the evening. There was a wait but it was no fuss at all as they have an entire area with table to wait as you enjoy a drink from the bar. Rob kept an eye on all the groups waiting and got everyone seated in no time. Once we were seated, Jake greeted us with water and guided us through the menu. We enjoyed shared plates and had a lovely time. We absolutely loved the eggplant dish! Definitely check Hey Babe out if you are in the area.

This is such a great new spot in East Liberty! Service was awesome, the staff was so nice and had awesome recs! I really like their house made pandan soda, I've never had anything like it. The food was really good! We liked everything we got. The crispy eggplant was a standout and I'm not even a feta person. It's really interesting fusion food. Definitely recommend that dish. I liked the salmon tartar and the silken tofu. The crispy potatoes are so good here too. You gotta get dessert! They're really thoughtful and not too sweet. We loved the strawberry trifle. Definitely recommend this spot for drinks and a tapas style/family style dinner. The vibes are so nice in here too! Very nice decor and trendy bar.

The food was delicious but the restaurant was very noisy and I was unable to hear the person I was with at the table.

The atmosphere alone is worth a visit. The drinks are definitely crafted with care and have a lot of complexity, but with only two bartenders working, it took quite a while to get ours. Not the place to go if you want quick service or are grabbing a drink before another event. My biggest downside is the price point--most cocktails are around $17. They're good, but at that price I can really only justify having one. Note: They do not have food, just snacks like peanuts. Overall, amazing ambiance and well-made drinks, just expect slower service and a higher bill.

Very impressed by their craftsmanship and experimental flavors. There's not many places in this area that even attempt to do that. I love the speakeasy vibe. Super cool entrance and fun comfortable lounge upstairs. It's a fantastic place to go as an intimate group. But it's kind of small to take a group of more than 4 friends. Cocktails were made surprisingly quick even on a busy night. Everything is just really great about this place. Except for maybe the price lol but at least you're getting what you pay for in a good way

Not only did the bar tender go above and beyond to find out what kind of drink would suit me best but the drink itself was also spectacular. I still have dreams about this martini. Be prepared to only drink a few though because they are quite strong. I would not expect to drive here and be able to drive home. The atmosphere is dark and intimate with a totally rad and almost New Orleans-ish flare to it. They allow smoking which is a bad thing if you don't like smoke hanging in the air, but it does add to the authentic old-timey bar feel if you're up for it. We came here for pre-dinner cocktails before heading over to Girasole (an amazing little old world Italian place) right next door. A fantastic pairing and the perfect night out. All in all, I would go here every weekend if I lived near. Since I have to make the trip by car service, it's saved for special occasions, which may just add to its overall charm for me.

It was exactly what my friends were looking for after dinner down the street. The cigars, drinks, were well-priced (although it is cash-only). The laid back vibe and tucked in booths were appreciated because we were in our own little world talking away. I don't have much to say about the bartenders because I didn't really interact with them. I think the only recommendation I have is to put the cigars in a humidor rather than a plastic bin. That was a bit off-putting.
