Very cool speakeasy tucked away in a back alley. It has a cool vibe and creative cocktails. The bartenders are great and will make you a cocktail based on your preferences. I've done this and the cocktail was perfect - highly recommend doing this if you're adventurous or just can't decide. The do have a short bar food menu, which is great to go with the cocktails. This spot is very cute! It is a lot smaller than I thought it would be based on pictures online and is pretty hidden in an alley behind Lorelai. I like the vibes inside a lot and they have a lot of cool drinks. I really liked my mezcal drink, it was delicious. My friend didn't like her drink as much since she thought it smelled like ham. Most of my party really liked our drinks though. Staff was pretty chill and nice too. It wasn't crowded on a Wednesday night which was nice and low key. Anytime I am grabbing dinner around East Liberty I have to stop in at Commerce Bar after for a quick bev :) They only allow you to sit, which I like. It helps keep it feeling less crowded and spread out. The servers come to your table and grab your drink orders. They are also so kind and eager to help you decide on a drink! I usually don't get food here, but they do have a small food menu! I have tried the charcuterie board before and it was great. After arriving on a Friday night with no reservations, the hostess was able to squeeze my party of 3 at the bar and, in my opinion, it's always the best seat in the house. The bartenders are so kind, patient, and friendly... could not have asked for better service! I loved the interior and the amount of greenery insider considering it is a pretty dark place. Very intimate seating and there is a beautiful chandelier above the bar. My party and I decided to go with the "tempting fate" cocktails for all of our drinks and we cannot recommend it more. Simply tell the bartender your likes and dislikes in a cocktail and be amazed by what they come up with! We all loved our drinks were surprised with all the drinks we got when we asked them to make "whatever you want". My favorite cocktail of the night was when I asked for a cocktail with floral or Asian inspired flavor accents, I got a hendrick's gin based drink that was delicious. To add to the great experience, I noticed they had menstrual products stocked in the bathroom which is something I wish more places supplied. Recently had friends visiting Pittsburgh and knew that I had to bring them to Commerce for an after-dinner drink! The speakeasy vibes are so cool, and the drinks are always interesting & delicious. I had the bellhop (which was citrusy & refreshing) and also a glass of the rosé cava. Everyone I was with enjoyed their cocktails, and the service was attentive & helpful with any questions we had. They also serve bar snacks - we got some chips & dip that were both good! The only downside to Commerce is that it's not very big & you can't make reservations, so we had to wait an hour for our table. On the nice side, though, we were able to go somewhere else while we waited & they sent us a text when the table was ready. Just be prepared that if you go with a group you will likely have a wait (as most of the tables are better sized for 2-3 people). I will definitely be back! Had a really nice Manhattan variation with their house made orgeat (walnut or almond flavor). They also have genever, so I ordered a genever Martinez which was perfectly executed. They have a limited food menu, and the oysters were really good and fairly priced. And the staff here are both chill and knowledgeable at the same time, and I really enjoyed the hospitality here. Spectacular little spot! Hidden in a back alley but as soon as you walk in your are transported. It's super small inside (maybe 6 tables and a small bar) but it's worth the wait. The Commerce Bar is pleasantly situated Speakeasy right on the edge of East Liberty. As soon as you walk in, your transported into a place out of Gatsby's imagination. The high center piece chandelier give off the grand feeling of being in a real life speakeasy in the roaring 20s. I've been telling myself that I'd be popping in, and finally got the opportunity of a calm rainy Saturday. For me, there really wasn't that much of a wait to enter. Must have been a slower night, but I was able to get seated in around 5 minutes. Seated right above the bar, I was able to really take in the spectacular view amongst the dim ambiance. It was really a beauty. As far as drinks go, I ordered a Roller's Choice which is puts your order in Lady Luck's hand with a roll of the dice. Luckily, for an extra 2 dollars you can "Bribe The Bartender" to swap the drink. I ended up getting my go-to base which is whiskey. I also ordered a chicken sandwich to-go. Being able to drink fine spirits, and eat good meals made for a perfect Saturday night. read more
