I've come here a million times and it never disappoints! I got the homemade wedding soup on this brisk day and it sure warmed me up. I had a small salad with the homemade garlic ranch which I wish they sold in bottles! You HAVE to try any of the rolls...homemade pizza dough with all sorts of filling: spinach; chicken bacon; pepperoni I got some food to go while I ate in and they forgot the salmon on my salad. No biggie I was finishing my beer. They gave me a drink token for my next visit! Excellent good and service here!

We ate at this family owned restaurant while visiting Pittsburgh and really enjoyed it! Our waitress was part of the family who owned it and her pride in their establishment was visible, it was nice to see. We had the famous pizza rolls which were truly delicious, along with all three of the sauces. The garlic ranch was VERY garlicky in a good way. We also tried the Downey burger which was freshly made, no patty puck. The fries were nice too. The Mac and cheese (Friday only) was a bit bland for my palate but my kids loved it. The only thing I really didn't like was that the chicken tenders were described as "not your kids tendies" but they were very much kid tendies- frozen, pressed chicken, unexceptional at best. Those were let down and a misleading description. My husbands Philly cheesesteak was also kind of meh- fine, but nothing special. Overall though, I enjoyed this local spot a lot.
Local, popular, family-owned joint pumping out great food and good vibes. There was a bit of a wait when we showed, but we managed to be seated in about 15 minutes. Service was fast and friendly once we were seated, with one of the owners' daughters serving us. The pepperoni rolls are indeed the must have item here. The dough was so good that I would be inspired to try some regular pizza if we were back in the area again. The meatballs were also delicious, and although I would've preferred it as a sandwich, my kid decided to get it with spaghetti. The accompanying garlic toast was pleasant as well. The Downey burger, while good, wasn't really anything special, and the Philly cheesesteak unfortunately left something to be desired. That aside, it was still good, and the fries were excellent with the nacho cheese sauce being above average.
I got a turkey club with fries. The portion sizes were very large. I could even fit my mouth around it. It was good, the turkey was good turkey. I also had the seasoned fries which I really enjoyed. The service was just ok. The waitress was nice but seemed confused. It took a very long time for us to get our food, and she forgot to bring us our bill. We had to remind her, she said she thought we had already paid. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I liked the atmosphere of the restaurant, when you walk in there is a large bar where many people were eating lunch.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We went to the restaurant part. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was comfortable and you could talk as the noise level wasn't loud.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]
The restaurant is in a plaza which made parking a little more difficult. [[HIGHLIGHT]]As for the inside of the restaurant, it was clean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There wasn't that much seating inside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It did appear there was a patio of some sort but it was January and 18 degrees when we went.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The waitress was very attentive. As for the food, I ordered the chicken Philly. It was really good with shaved chicken compared to chucks of sliced chicken breast. It was seasoned well. My husband got the buffalo chicken sandwich which he said I was good but especially enjoyed the quality bun. My daughter got a pizza which she said was delicious and very cheesy. The main bread of the pizza was thinner but the crust was nice a fluffy. My other daughter got the kids grilled cheese and it was toasted to perfection and loaded with cheese. The fries were a crispy beer battered fry. We got the mozzarella sticks as an appetizer. They were cooked just right for the ultimate cheese pull. I prefer the skinny longer mozzarella sticks over the short fat ones. But overall all the food was excellent and the kids said they want to come back!
Pepperoni rolls are a must! They are absolutely delicious. Macaroni is a hard pass! The service was quick and prompt for a weekday lunch, and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the vibes are super family friendly and easy place to catch up with a friend.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The portions are great too! The selection is good. I would come here again if I was nearby and wanted something filling
Downey's House was highly recommended for our family dinner night. There are many local drafts and cans to choose from. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I liked the casual restaurant/bar set up.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The menu was massive and had a little something for everyone. We ordered Missy's buffalo chicken dip and chicken bacon cheddar rolls for appetizers. The rolls were the star even with the marinara dipping sauce. Next time, I want to try the rolls with ranch. The buff chicken dip was just ok. We ordered various entrees and everyone agreed they were happy with their choices even the picky eaters. The service here was really good. I look forward to more get togethers at Downey's.
What a pleasant surprise- stopped by for lunch and we were happy we did! So many reviews for the zucchini had me craving it, but unfortunately they have removed it from the menu. We both had the Buffalo chicken wrap and it was great. The chicken was so tender and the wrap was full of flavor. The French fries are tremendous also. Wedding soup was uneventful w little flavor or veggies- mostly broth w some chicken and spinach. Overall, and great lunch!

When you're in the 'Burgh, find something local and go enjoy. I'm not local, and I was thinking pierogis & Iron City, maybe catch some Pittsburgh sportsball? Downey's House provided the local spot I needed. An ice cold Yuengling on draft went down very well, and while I didn't find pierogis on the menu, I settled for a phenomenal bowl of spaghetti & meatballs. Local marinara & meatballs made with the same recipe of the old Main Hotel that was in Carnegie for nearly 100 years. That bowl of pasta was SCRUMPTIOUS and just what I was after. I even talked my lovely wife into doing up her salad 'Pittsburgh style', which means adorning the salad with fries. And yes, it's as good as it sounds. Thrown in a protein like grilled chicken and that is a banger of a meal. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great dining area with a square-shaped bar and TVs with sight-lines in any direction.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service is friendly and helpful, and prices are probably lower than at some chain-y eatery that just makes your food via assembly line. If you're going to Downey House and not getting some form of a roll (pepperoni, Italian, or chicken bacon) you are doing it wrong. They are super delicious. The chicken tenders were my least favorite, they were super tough but somehow too chewy at the same time. Good homemade ranch. We had good service sitting at the bar. read more

Love Downey's House- best gluten free pizza around (I like the Tuscan chicken pizza) and best customer service! [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have many TVs to watch sports and a great cozy ambience![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] All the food is excellent and they also have killer wedding soup. Thumbs up! read more

A great place to go for Pizza rolls. They know how to do them right! With the garlic ranch these were soooo good. The menu has a little bit of everything on it so you will have no trouble finding what you want to eat. The staff was attentive and helpful with any questions we had. read more

This really is just comfort/bar food without the seasoning. I knew it was going to be blah when the Italian wedding soup had cheese and chicken in it with no orzo pasta. The food was just okay. I'm not sure I would go again read more

Often overlooked but never underestimated, this gem of a place never posts a poor result from service to flavor it's an A+ for this house of food. Want a place before or during game day? Want cold beer, great food and quick service? Well, I got the place for you. Downey's House has all the above and more; a simple menu with food complexity and flavor, I would make it a point to make friends with this place so I could be invited for dinner. Don't pass it up, it's a house of that invites everyone for a meal. read more

We have been to this restaurant many times before! Our favorite restaurant in Robinson! The customer service is great! The food is amazing! Today hubby had the hot roast beef sandwich with fries I tried the roast beef and it was super tender and the portion was huge!! I had the Italian hoagie with fries ( my favorite) and it was delicious! If you haven't tried this place yet , I highly recommend it! Oh ... don't forget the pepperoni rolls read more
Best "roni rolls" in all my travels across the us. Fluffy insides, crispy outsides, and the browned cheese on the bottom. All of the rolls from here are great. The pub burgers served here are in the upper teir of burgers for sure. Asking how you would like your burger cooked is always a good early sign. Hidden gem on the menu is the meatball volcano Them fries be crispy. I'm having flash backs typing this. Top tier in house made garlic ranch. It can be loud on game day and during drinking holidays. This might be tucked in the back of a plaza and somewhat intimidating to visit after dark, but it's worth the visit! The staff is friendly and they offer some interesting menu items, all that they make in-house. Their pepperoni rolls were decent, but not the best I've had. But their stuffed hot peppers were definitely the best I've had; nice, spicy, and flavorful! Atmosphere is somewhat basic, but it's welcoming and they play the games on their TVs at the bar. Summary: very good food. Very small beer selection. Clean. Friendly efficient staff. If you've read my other reviews, you know that beer is a big part of what I look for. So if that's not important to you, Downey's food is really good and it's worth a visit. But for me, I'm looking for more than four choices of brews. Sam Seasonal was the closest I got to a craft beer. The Blue Burger was really good and cooked to order, which I appreciate. My wife was able to substitute a Turkey patty on her mushroom and Swiss burger and loved it. The wait staff was super nice and helpful. If you're in the area and aren't looking for a good mug of suds to go with your meal, it's a good spot. read more
Came in on a Saturday around 5pm. There was a decent crowd on hand, but we were seated immediately. We came in December and the Christmas decorations were up. It looked cute in there! Our server was super friendly and quick to check on us and take our orders. We had the pepperoni rolls as an app and the whole table was in agreement that they were our favorite thing. The dough was not dry at all and there was the proper ratio of cheese & pepperoni to dough. I had a mixed greens salad with buffalo grilled chicken. It was standard. My brother had the reuben and my mom had the turkey reuben. They both loved the toasted rye bread and said the sandwiches were thick. They did not skimp on the meat. My mom made a comment about the coleslaw being good and not sweet. We aren't fans of sweet coleslaw! I will definitely be back. read more

I'm in town for business and this time went in search of a local place to eat. And boy did I find it! Tucked in behind a brake shop, it's hidden from view from the street but quite popular. While not dark by any means, exactly what I'd think of as a local joint complete with a deer head and stuffed fish (I don't judge; I'm from Texas). While they were short handed, I never felt unattended to or that I was being ignored. Shannon was behind the bar and working many of the tables. She is a delight and welcomed her regulars with gusto. Now to the food. I'm trying to bury this here so nobody comes after me. I've never had a Philly Cheesesteak so what better place to try it than in Pennsylvania. The hoagie was fabulous with lots of ooey, gooey, melty cheese. And the fries were the best. Perfectly crispy! I could only eat half my sammich and have a snack for later! read more
I love a good dive bar! And who knew you could find one in Robinson?! It was a nice change of pace to stop here, since Robinson is full of nothing but chain restaurants. I sat in the bar area. The crowd was a little rough around the edges, but I felt fine. The food was good. The server told me about the famous "rolls" so I ordered the Italian as an appetizer and it was so good! We came here because a friend was in town for the night staying nearby. Wish we had been here before because the service was so friendly. We enjoyed the food - pepperoni rolls for all, fish sandwich for me, chicken cheesesteak for my girlfriend and a black and blue salad for our guest. We all loved the food. Definitely will be coming back. read more
