I never knew this place existed, but wow what a great meal! We came for a happy hour after work, and it was 3 dollars off any burger. Not sure if this is every Thursday, but it sealed the deal for me! My mushroom Swiss burger was excellent. Lots of mushrooms and the horseradish mayo was a nice touch. My burger was cooked to perfection. Good seasoning too. I got a plentiful side of brussel sprouts with good flavor. I want to come back and try more on the menu! read more

Booked this place for my best friend's baby shower. The place was fine but the owners/owner family was awful. We were told to come set up the night before at 9:30. We arrived right at 9:30 but in the event room, a group of the owner's family was sitting at a few of the big tables and would not get up. We were first told we had to wait until they left. After about a half hour, someone finally let us start bringing things in but the family didn't even acknowledge our presence. The waitresses were moving tables around and helping us set up but we couldn't move and arrange the last 6 tables because they continued to sit there. At 11pm I finally asked if we could start moving a few that they weren't sitting at and that we were already there longer than we hoped to be. A woman responded with "oh don't worry, I'll let you stay as long as you want" yet didn't even bother to move. I had hoped to be done and gone before then, so the comment really surprised me, and didnt seem kind but passive aggressive because *we* were disturbing their evening...even though we were just doing what they told us to. It was incredibly rude. The waitresses were lovely, however!. Food was fine, room was very nice. It was weird though, there weren't any trash cans at all in the room. Service was wonderful, the two highschool girls who were taking care of the party were absolutely delightful. Worked so hard and were so kind. The experience the night before was so offputting, it was like the 10 or so people sitting there were annoyed we were there and that we were inconveniencing *them*, but we were just doing what they had instructed us to do. It felt pointed and rude. I would not use the place again for that reason. Otherwise, it was a fine venue. A couple other weird things though: No trashcans in the room at all. Also there was an omelette bar but no bread or toast. Food seemed a bit sparse for the group of 50 people we had. read more

My (now teen) son mentioned visiting this restaurant for dinner. Normally after this many years I'd be game, but no... I refuse to give another chance. I've driven past many times, but I had no idea how sprawling it becomes inside once you walk past the bar. Obviously a favorite for locals, they serve lots of burgers, fish sandwiches, salads, but also entrees. Their fries are excellent. Our server was extremely attentive. I'm used to a longer craft beer list, but they appear to be updating their choices. They have some large tables to accommodate groups. Although this is a solid neighborhood hangout, you will find many more exciting options closer to the City. read more

Easter surprise We had Easter brunch today and feel completely disappointed and ripped off. It was the exact same Sunday brunch that they always serve with poor service and food that ran out. The website does note that they have a special brunch and prices may vary. Well nothing at all was special and the prices were DOUBLE with no notice. Seniors are usually $16. Today it was $42 with tax and tip. That is ridiculous. If you are going to up charge two things need to happen; 1- be honest with your advertising. 2- make it actually special with something extra. There was no dessert as advertised on the website and the staff was too busy to get water let alone a different drink. You lost my business forever!!! And the food was not good !!! read more

0 stars if I could I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. My 8-year-old daughter ordered her own meal, and we were surprised to find out we had been charged for an adult portion. When I politely raised the issue, the manager insisted he had made an adult meal--even though it was clear a child had ordered and was eating it. To make matters worse, he actually made me open our to-go container in front of him to prove how much of the meal she had eaten, as if that would justify the charge. It was embarrassing, unprofessional, and completely unnecessary. My daughter was humiliated and ended up in tears because she felt bad she ate too much of her meal. There was no flexibility, no understanding, and definitely no customer service. He continued to speak over me. This is not how you treat families--or anyone, for that matter. Steak was decent. Ordered baked potato and asparagus with it did not get the potato. Ordered applesauce for my boy didn't get that (eventually we got both after reminding the waitress) Ordered pepperoni pizza for my boy and was delivered a cheese pizza and told "we're out of the pepperoni ones I hope that's ok". He likes pepperoni pizza so he wasn't pleased. Wife's salmon was not totally cooked so she didn't eat all of it (looked to be cooked from a frozen state without thawing). Pop was flat too. Easter brunch was completely disappointing 2/10 if that. Website says prices may vary, but the price was more than double and no notice at all. They didn't provide a menu when we sat down and pricing wasn't listed anywhere in the restaurant. I was shocked when the bill came. $135 for 3 people who only drank coffee and water with the buffet. The food options weren't that great or different to warrant such an increase. Waitress brought one drink to our table and we never saw her again, but she gave herself an 18% tip for doing nothing. So many people and they ran out of food fast. Staffing and service was worse than the price of the food or the food. They had actual children (maybe 10-12 year old boys) making waffles in the buffet line. The boys were touching the food and wiping their faces and goofing off with each other. It was very unsanitary and unsafe for young children to be working in food service especially during a busy Easter brunch. The woman making the made to order omelets in the next station was constantly yelling at the boys. The boys also delivered the omelets to the tables. I haven't been to a brunch there in many years, but it didn't seem like it was the first one the boys worked at. When I first saw them, I thought "oh cute kind of like a take your child to work day". Then I saw how much work they were actually doing and how they were treated and it wasn't cute at all it was disgusting, unsafe and unsanitary. Ample parking in a dedicated parking lot. Really attractive entrance into this establishment. I really wanted to love this restaurant as a newly discovered, out of the way gem. But the large dining room is fairly sparsely decorated, I did not find the seating particularly comfortable, and the cuisine was uninspiring. Too bad the porthole Windows deprive many diners of what is probably otherwise a pretty good view of the outside. There just wasn't anything particularly great about our experience here and so I don't think we will be back. Perhaps if we lived close by it might be in a regular rotation and we selected the correct dishes. Service was pretty good and the prices were certainly reasonable. But when I go out to eat I'm looking for a little higher quality and a little more culinary entertainment than this place provided. read more

Middle Road Inn (MRI) is a local bar/restaurant to me. It "noxs" the socks off all the other area restaurants. We almost eliminated all other local restaurants from our repertoire of eateries. We eat there about once a week for years now. The Burgers, Fish Sandwich, Fries and fried Zucchini are the best anywhere. Rueben's are good, Philly Cheese Steak Wrap excellent. Basically, it is very unusual not be very happy with whatever you choose to eat. Did I mention fries... yep, better than McDonalds, best around. While the bar food is consistently the best, they also serve excellent dinners like Chicken Marsala, Chicken Picatta, Prime Rib and so on. The ambiance is that of a high end bar, with a large restaurant seating separate and behind the bar with a great working fireplace. Behind that there is a covered deck that is super on hot summer nights. Prices are reasonable, actually rather low for what you get. Joe the owner is always in the kitchen making sure the food is consistently good. His dad owns Willies Tavern in Valencia that has been famous for it fish and cuisine since forever which explains why everything is good at the MRI. Many, many years of experience pays off. So years ago I tried Middle road by way of their Sunday brunch. And I was legit underwhelmed. Like what was the big deal? Don't get me wrong, it was fine, but I didn't get some of the 5-star reviews. But more recently we started coming for dinner, and its a totally different experience. - The staff is great. Owner is friendly. And if you're sitting at the bar, you will likely end up striking up a conversation with a complete stranger, as though you've bern buds for years. - the skinny fries, I don't know what it is about them, but they are addictive. And that is not hyperbole. It's a common move for me to just order them as an app for the table. - burgers are amazing. Like maybe top 10 burg in the Burgh (see what I did there?). - the pizza ... yes pizza, really good. The crust is soft and buttery but still has great substance. - and all their prices are reasonable. Great for friends, family and even just drinks / happy hour. The place has a fun neighborhood vibe and it's become a regular dinner spot when we can't decide what we want to eat. And it never disappoints. read more

We got the burgers tonight, and as always, they were amazing. Mushroom Swiss being my favorite. Last week we got the wings for the Wednesday Wing special. Haven't been in maybe 15 years. Liked it then, no real reason we haven't been back. Big bar area, nice enough seating area and great back deck. Everything seemed clean and nice. Went with the wife and we had a couple of wraps which were very good and well priced. Home made chips were very good and large Blue Moon hit the spot on a hot day. I went here for Sunday brunch yesterday around 10:15. The seats near the buffet were full so we sat at a high top in the bar area. They had a variety of food - from bacon and eggs to pierogies and salad. They also had an omelet station where you could fill out a slip and they were made to order. The Belgian waffles were my favorite part of the whole brunch - they were delicious and you had the options of strawberries, fresh whipped cream, butter, and syrup to top them. The service was just okay - I think they were understaffed like many places are right now. I had to flag down a waitress to refill my water, and the two people I came with never had their coffees refilled. Most people there weren't wearing masks (including people at the buffet) so if this is something you're uncomfortable with, just know that ahead of time. read more

We have been meaning to come to this place for a while, and finally got a chance to tonight. We were surprised with how much seating there is inside as well as on the back patio. We started with the nacho grande appetizer, and it was not disappointing. They were served with a lot of toppings, sturdy nacho chips, and delicious shredded beef. It was great not to have ground beef on the nachos like most other places do. I got the French onion soup, which is out of character for me. Usually French onion is too salty for me, but I was chilly (not due to the restaurant) so I thought I would give the French onion a try. There wasn't an overwhelming amount of cheese on top, which I like because I didn't feel like all I was eating was melted cheese in the first few bites. Too my surprise, the soup was not too salty either. Win win! I ordered the penne vodka and added chicken to it. The pasta and the sauce were great, and since we had an appetizer, I was able to save half of my dish for tomorrow. The chicken pieces were a little on the over cooked side for my taste, but the flavor was good. We ended up splurging and buying a piece of the chocolate cake to go. From appearances, the cake looks like it's going to be delicious, but we haven't eaten it yet! Overall, I think we found a new place to frequent that isn't far from home. read more

Picked up Mother's Day takeout this afternoon. To their credit, food looks legit. However; in the current lockdown we are in, and with all the public health recommendations in place, they seemed to completely disregard their customer and employee safety. I called when I arrived, wore a mask in and was greeted by the hostess and cook, neither wearings masks or gloves. Seems like they didnt learn much from their healthcode violations in 2017, which i found after doing more research. Makes me legit sketched out to eat the food. Do what you want, but I'll spend my money at local places that take health and customer safety seriously, not to mention disregarding the PA Governer & Health Secretaries mask order that went in place 4 weeks ago. Wish i would have known about this before i placed the order, would have gone elsewhere. read more

Cool, underrated place for good food, cheap and good beer and excellent live music downstairs. Several very talented musicians work and hang there so even though the downstairs entertainment area isn't enormous, you'll find talented artists performing there and it's an excellent pre/post venue to hang after hardwood acres festivals! read more
