Full disclosure, i attended a birthday party here. We were in the outdoor area which is nice because there is cover and it is behind the building and not along the roadway. I never could understand why people eat outside in downtown places where cars drive by them 5 feet away. The beers were OK, nothing really special but OK. They have a little bar outside so getting a refill was quick and easy. The don't serve any kind of hard spirits. My wife isn't a beer drinker so one of the bartenders at the inside bar mixed her up a drink with seltzer and something else(tea) which she found to be quite tasty, so i tipped her generously for having the ambition to please a customer. Where they fell down IMO was their pizza. It just wasn't very good. We had several versions of their Sicilian to choose from. The cheese was generous, but the crust was doughy and heavy, the sauce was flavorless, and the toppings were very stingy. A big piece of Sicilian pizza with 3 slices of pepperoni is not good. I checked out their menu and was stunned at the prices they are getting for those pizzas. WAY overpriced. Of course i didn't have to pay for them since it was a party, but knowing what their pizza is like i would never go back there and pay those prices. The wings were just OK, pretty mediocre. Parking is a joke. No where near enough spots for the size of the place. Overall it was just OK, i would not return. There are better places for the same or less money. read more

I had to try the hot dogs because I am doing a hot dog tour. It was a big hot dog!! I got the Rocco and my bestie got the buster. We both enjoyed them!! I will say I wish the bun was smaller, it is just too much bread. The onion rings were great. The sugar pretzel was good could use a little more seasoning on it though. read more

Well, to start with the venue is terrific. The whole place is well set up and well fought through the exterior patios are great and the interior stuff is excellent. As for the Food, also very good I wish the dough was a little bit better but all in all very highly recommended As for the beer, lots of choices to make, but as with these kind of places are very consistently beer is not very cold... Didn't really like the thin crust pizza, might be in again to try the thicker crust pizza. I felt it lacked flavor and it was really dry, like a cracker. We got half pepperoni and half onion with hot honey. The hot honey wasn't even the slightest bit hot either, hmmmm. Maybe the smoke (Canadian wild fires) is making my taste buds lack the skill to discover good flavor. The service was nice from the bartender. Place was really cool, lots of fans and cool decorations. Now, the beer, I only liked the hazy IPA out of all of the flight that we tried. It was good and fresh, and cold! read more

We checked out dough daddy a few weekends ago. Very cool spot with a big outdoor space. I do wish the outside space had more grass and less gravel so we could bring our dog without worrying about her getting super dirty. The beers were good and the food was really good. Loved the humongous soft pretzel with cheese dip and mustard. The pizzas were very good but needed more sauce. My biggest complaint on the pizzas are the price. They were very large pizzas but still being $30+ (might have even been $35 or $36) for the full size was a bit steep. The nachos were also fantastic (but why was the shredded cheese on top not melted?). We went on a Sunday and I believe we didn't have a server.. we had to order everything from the bar. This place brought a different vibe with a brewery that was oh so casual and a little of the normal travel path for this city gal....but worth it. I loved my New England IPA (Hazy Daddy Dazy, I believe) and the sour (Mr. Yum Guava) was pretty good too, but what really stole my heart was the pizza -- tavern style with pepperoni. It was soo good . The staff was nice and the bartender , Jamie, provided recommendations and selections for food for us first timers. I wanted to love this place, with pizza by Caliente, one of my favorite pizzas. But they overbooked with a birthday party. The kitchen lost our pizza order and we waited for two hours for our meal. They were out of wings, out of sour beer, out of one seltzer. No malty beer on the menu but they had a porter not on the menu. Overall it seems like it could be a good experience but we were very disappointed. Inadequate parking so you end up parking on gravel at a neighboring business. Concrete floors may be cold on winter and create a noisy environment. Beautiful outdoor space in good weather in the beer garden. Garage door opens up to let in cool breezes which is nice. Kvass was delicious. Porter strong coffee notes. Onion rings appetizer hot and good, with a spicy barbecue sauce I really enjoyed. Two hours later, when the pizza arrived, it was barely above room temperature and not as good as at Caliente IMHO. May try this place again but this visit was unsatisfactory. read more

We went to PizzaFest at Dough Daddy on Sunday and it was a great venue for it!! There was plenty of seating and space for all the vendors and booths to spread out. It was nice that we were kind of separated from the rest of Dough Daddy's patrons who were mostly inside and we could go inside and use the restroom. It was a little tough finding parking in the lot with the amount of people and cars there but we managed and it didn't take us too long. read more

We finally got the chance to stop in at Dough Daddy Brewery and were so glad we did! From the sound of it, this place gets busy during the summer and Fridays/Saturdays when they have live bands. We went on a rainy Wednesday afternoon, but there were still several other tables filled with hungry (and thirsty) guests. We sat at the bar and Lauren was AWESOME. She was super attentive and answered any questions we had about the menu and the brewery itself. I tried their sour beer (zungenbrecher papa with plum) and my husband got a flight of 4 beers. Everything was delicious. We also tried the mommy juice cocktail with pomegranate. We learned their syrups are all made in-house, which I love! We ordered the Van Veslor 4 cut pizza. I love all the different names and descriptions for the food. It adds a unique and personal touch. The pizza itself was incredible. The crust was light and airy but the edge was crispy! The toppings were fresh and plenty. One piece was pretty filling. They have a merch store inside the brewery with a nice selection. I love the little thrifted section with pitchers, glasses, and more! You can also find some special ice cream in the cooler. We are already planning our trip back. There's an inside and a beer garden so we preferred beers and pizza and sat outside on a gorgeous sunny day. We had the meatball appetizer and it was excellent. The meatballs were flavorful and the garlic bread was a nice touch. I had the Pittsburghers panini and it was super! The cheese blend was great and the the pepper medley added to it. The sausage was slices thin and it made it easier to eat. Onion rings were . We also got the 4 cut Sicilian with ricotta, pepperoni, and sliced meatball (Bakerstown). I was underwhelmed by the beers, but they were OK. Sit inside if u want a server....if u sit outside u have to come inside and wait in a line to order food or beers. It's a cool space and both inside and outside look fun. I was nervous about trying Dough Daddy Brewing, I had just read a bad review a few days before I went there. I'm glad I didn't listen to the review. The seating area is very open. There was a band playing, so we tried to sit further away rather than up front. Good band that night. Our waitress was very friendly and went over the menu with us. When our pizza came out, even though it was a Sicilian pizza, the dough was light and airy. I am very glad I went. I even went back with a couple of family members who came up from out of town. This spot is pretty cute! I love all their outdoor space and the inside of the brewery is pretty big too. I like that they have so many beer options and also non beer options and NA options. I wish their seltzer had less of a beer taste but I get that everyone has their own way of brewing. They do mocktails too! I liked the mango peach flavor for the mommy juice cocktail. Staff were pretty nice too! They also do pizza here and I will have to try it next time! We were here for PizzaFest so there was an event going on. This is a great event space! read more

Dough Daddy Brewery is a new business where Strange Roots used to be. The service was ok. It seemed that the bartenders got overwhelmed with a crowd which is understandable but definitely could have been more friendly. The outdoor space is awesome, plenty of seating (in and out of shade). They had live music while we were there & it's dog friendly. Parking - The gravel lot fills up pretty quickly as there's not a ton of spots for a location quite this large. Unfortunately, I wouldn't come back for the beer/cocktails. I would, however, absolutely come back for the pizza and atmosphere! We had the Purple and White Trail Loop pizza and it was to die for. I'm still thinking about it. The crust was so light and fluffy with a nice crunch. The toppings were piled high and delicious. A full sized pizza easily fed 4 hungry adults. We tried the following drinks - Dough Mommy Mango Seltzer, Dough Mommy cocktail, Uno Mas Cerveza, Hazy Dough Dazy IPA. Unfortunately no one in our group was thrilled with any of these drinks. Finally got a chance to try out this new brewery. It was a Monday eve and not busy so we had a chance to look around. There is a nice outdoor space with fire pits as well as a covered pavilion. Sat inside as it was a rainy evening. Our server was very helpful with our food and beverage questions since it was our first time here. I had the American IPA and my wife tried a hazy one. We decided on Pizza since that is the specialty and chose the "Three Rivers" pie which features three sauces - a tomato, a pesto and vodka. I think the style is Detroit with the sauce on top. Enjoyed the beers and food and looking forward to another trip back. We're told they have music on Fridays and Saturdays but I would check to confirm. Awesome brewery for great pizza and relaxing time with friends or family! I've been here before when it was a different brewery and was happy to see they kept the layout and casual atmosphere. The decor and furniture has been updated though to give it a fresh look, which is nice. I ordered the Zungenbrecher Papa beer, which was a refreshing flavor with strawberry vanilla cream notes in every sip. A smooth fruity profile that was very delicious! For our meal we ordered the Volunteer Fire Company #3 pizza and liked it a lot! It's basically a buffalo chicken pizza with a unique take of cream cheese chunks and celery on top. I would have liked it spicier, there wasn't much heat to it in my opinion and I sprinkled on a lot of red pepper flakes, and maybe more sauce. But the dough was incredible! Super fluffy and flavorful, deep dish but not thick enough to overtake all the other flavors of the topping ingredients. The slices are HUGE! We ordered a full size, 8 slices, and it was certainly enough for several meals for the 2 of us. They have a great outdoor space too, so we will be coming back to enjoy that this summer. read more

I was so excited to check this spot out!! There's soooo much outdoor seating, some with shade and some without. Bring all of your friends here to enjoy great food and beverages while the weather is still nice! Don't worry, if it's raining there is a bar and indoor seating available as well! I'm not a beer drinker, so I indulged in the Mommy Juices, you could pick from peach, blueberry, or strawberry. These went down like water. Delicious! The truffle fries were perfectly crispy and flavorful. And the PIZZA!! The slices are massive. We got 4 slices of The Point and 4 slices of the White and Purple Trail Loop. I truly can't decide which I enjoyed more. Between 2 people, we had enough for leftovers the next two days and put some in the freezer for a rainy day. I got a chance to try this brewery. A member of the Caliente Pizza family. I got the build your own Sicilian pizza with Pepperoni, Mushrooms and Banana Peppers. The pizza was very good and full of toppings. It would have been excellent if it had some more sauce in it. Service was good. Unfortunately, I picked a day when they were having a large surprise party so a few of us had to wait longer than expected for our food. Hopefully it was a one off. We stopped by here with some friends based on reviews before going to a concert. The beer was just average with the exception of the Pine Creek Vanilla Porter which was very good. I tried 2 of their IPA's and there was nothing special about them but they were just same old flavor profile with one being Hazy, Hoppin Daddy, and the other called Bloodbath IPA. I did not care for the Bloodbath IPA which was advertised as a New England style but the flavor was not as crisp and left an aftertaste which is not what I expect from a good NE IPA. We ordered food which was a fiasco. Our friends ordered a pizza and an order of onion rings and we ordered an appetizer of meatballs and a sandwich. The pizza was Sicilian and was delivered timely and was good. All the other food was not delivered and after over 20 minutes after the pizza was delivered we asked the server about the food and she went to the kitchen to check and it was eventually delivered after the pizza was already finished by our friends. My meatballs were luke warm and bland and the other food was just OK based on my wife's opinion. They did remove the food charges from the bill as a courtesy which was appreciated. We ended up not going to the concert as we were so late. I do not believe that we will return to this brewery in the future because it is just not special enough for me when it comes to the beers they brew. read more

Well, as of last Tuesday, I embarrassingly had never heard of Dough Daddy Brewery. I tried their hazy IPA at the Pittsburgh Pirates game at PNC Park, which I might be a bit biased in calling the best park in the majors. Four days later, we visited the brewery, where we enjoyed their truffle fries and amazing pizza--though I had mine without cheese, which is a new development for me. The beer was fantastic. I had the Pale Ale and the Blackberry Seltzer, which was spectacular, especially since I'm usually not a seltzer fan. The pizza is extremely good and some of the best pizza that I've ever tried, even with no cheese it was still sensational. We were happy to see someone move into the space that Strange Brew vacated last year, and we've been down to the newly opened Dough Daddy a couple times now. They're affiliated with / owned by Caliente, the local pizza chain. They brew a lot of the beers available at Caliente. Hazy Dough Dazy is a really nice middle of the road IPA (not to sweet/citrisy, not high ibu) and my go to at Caliente and now Dough Daddy. They have quite a few brews on tap here though. Right up front: the beer is like 4.5 stars. The food is like 3, at least the couple times I went. I weighted the beer more since it's a brewery, but with a name that implies some awesome pizza, there's room to improve so overall it's probably more like a 3.5 . Rounded up to 4 since they're new and I think there is potential. The good: - great beer and a wide selection of varieties - They maintained a lot of the layout and aesthetic that made strange brew cool - It's still mostly a brew pub with a limited menu - Service is friendly and prompt The okay: - The food. The menu, in writing, looks GREAT. Awesome descriptions of thick crust Sicilian pies with curated pies, and the paninis sound incredible on paper. The first time we went we got one. I'll post a pic. It was underwhelming. But also, not terrible. Just small and kind of weak considering the price and description. Overall the food gets the jobs done. - Wings - great flavor, not great execution. The opportunities: - For the food, I don't know if they have a full kitchen back there, or if they will one day. Seems like the pizzas at least are prebaked and get assembled in and baked again. The pizza has some room to improve. It's not bad. First time it was okay but kind of bland. Second time, the flavor overall was better, but they scorched the bottom of the crust. - We got wings this time. The flavor was really nice, and they were nice and juicy. However... they were not crisp or browned. Like they were baked but not at high enough temp to crisp them up. A lot of floppy skin with the fat not rendered. Not sure if they were fried or baked. They did taste good though. Summary: Anyway, the place is a nice atmosphere, the outside area is nice (as it was when it was Strange Brew), and the beer is great. My only gripe is that the food really needs to be stepped up a little. I have high hopes they'll keep improving and have a successful future here. They've only been open a few weeks. It's nice to have in the area, and we'll be back. Especially for beer. I'll update if anything changes. read more

Food-- Nachos: Arrived cold and oddly sweet. Not the spicy kick we hoped for--kind of like a floppy 90s mixtape gone wrong. -- Pretzel (1 lb.) with beer cheese & mustard ($16): A hefty beast. The beer cheese? Actually good. Beer: Served warm. Unforgivable. -- this is a brewery Caesar Salad: my Grandma got hit with a $20 charge. It was just lettuce, Parmesan shavings, dressing, and croutons. The croutons were home made and were pretty good. But, Ouch! Overpriced for what it was. Service quirks No kids menu. Big "boo" here--totally missed an opportunity. They don't bring napkins, plates, utensils--they just point to where to get them. You have to go get them yourself and they're situated in awkward places around the restaurant. You have to hover over strangers mid-bite to grab your napkins and to go boxes and utensils -- super awkward. Even refills are DIY. Feels less like "hospitality" and more like "serve yourself survival school." read more

If disappointment had a flavor, it would be served here--lukewarm and overpriced. The decor looks like someone opened Pinterest, scrolled twice, then quit out of boredom. From the first bite, it was obvious the kitchen is operating on autopilot. My chicken salad tasted like it was assembled during a power outage using canned chicken, no seasoning, and zero pride. Ranch wasn't a condiment--it was survival gear. The "loaded" fries were an outright scam. Fries and cheese do not make something loaded. That's like calling a nap a full night's sleep or calling this place a restaurant. The pizza is where hope officially died. Cardboard crust, ketchup pretending to be sauce, and the unmistakable taste of something designed for people who have already numbed their taste buds with alcohol. Which makes sense, because the food clearly exists only to absorb beer--not to be enjoyed. Then comes the ice cream, which allegedly has a reputation. My daughter took one bite and immediately said it tasted like spoiled milk. I confirmed it. Eggs were proudly mentioned, as if that explained why it tasted wrong. It didn't. After that, ordering a beer felt like playing culinary Russian roulette. And the final, jaw-dropping irony: the shop sells merch, ice cream... and a book on how to start a successful pizza chain. That's not confidence--that's comedy. The self-awareness is nonexistent. Overpriced food. Mediocre atmosphere. Zero execution. This isn't a hidden gem--it's a cautionary tale. If you're hungry, eat first. If you're sober, don't go. And if you're thinking about pizza, this place should be listed as Exhibit A in what not to do. read more

We have been seeing on social media the brunch on Sundays! We gave it a try and the beers were tasty and really good. We had an issue with our food which was really disappointing. Our daughter asked for the chicken and waffles with the bacon on the side. Here all three of our meals came out at different times and the third meal that came out was our daughters and they had put the bacon on the chicken and waffles instead of on the side but also brought out a side of bacon. We waited for a while to have them fix her meal. A manager or supervisor came to apologize and said they would discount and take care of her meal they ended up just giving us a discount of $2.55 off the entire bill. I was very disappointed how it was handled. Needless to say the food wasn't bad and the beers were exceptional but could have been handled much better from a customer service standpoint. read more

Met a friend for lunch on a Monday. I respect the fact that everyone needs a break, but it is also nice that they're open for lunch on Monday when many other places aren't. We were the only customers, and the bartender was also our server. He was very friendly and helpful with pizza and beer recommendations. We had the "purple and white" pizza, with pepperoni, sausage, burrata, basil, and hot honey. It was amazing. Their pizzas are deep dish, so they're also incredibly filling, and my friend and I each took several pieces home for family. We tried two of their beers, and they were also very good. I had one of the IPAs. I can't remember the name, but it's brewed with pineapple. The pineapple was subtle, and still allowed the hops and pine to come through. Beer was good with many styles available! Was able to try the West Coast IPA, the vanilla porter, and Light Lager. Bbq pork nachos and The Thick Sicilian pizza were a hit as well. Nice updates to the space formerly operated by strange roots. I like the new umbrellas on the outdoor tables for more shade! Lots of kids and dogs outside on opening weekend. We had great service from the staff as well. No complaints from my family's first visit! We're looking forward to some more great summer hangouts here! read more

I recommend going for their drink specials. They don't skimp on the alcohol. The chicken fingers were more like Chinese chicken fingers. I personally feel that $30 for a pizza is dumb. I think the pizza prices were too high. Pittsburgh was surprisingly a very expensive city. 4/5 for alcoholic beverages 2/5 for price of food. read more
