Might Oak Barrel dinner menu 1/2026

We are "foodies" and have been wanting to try this restaurant but sadly we were underwhelmed, especially considering the price. This is "cook" level food not "chef" level. They were also understaffed so service was slow and inconsistent. Again, considering the price ($28 for Chicken Parm) we expected more.

Four of us went for dinner. Drinks at the bar were good and dinner was solid. Myself and the better half had chicken parm which was one of the specials. Huge portion, chicken and pasta cooked well. The only thing that would have enhanced it was some fresh ground parm cheese which was not offered. The other couple had ravioli and shrimp and scallops over linguini which they both enjoyed. This is a small place, crowded on a Saturday night so make a reservation and give it a try!

My wife and I came here on a Friday night. It's on a side street in Oakmont and parking is very limited. We had to circle the block a couple times and ended up parking in a neighboring business' parking lot, near a sign that said "parking for customers only, violators will be towed". We had a reservation and got seated right away. Things slowed down quite a bit after that. Even though the restaurant was only ~75% full, it took a good 30 minutes to get our food ordered (we didn't order drinks) and another 45 minutes beyond that to get the food. First came my wife's Mighty Oak Barrel salad. Not impressed. At least make an effort! Large whole leaves of greens completely dry dumped on a plate with a few nuts, dried fruits and cheese on top. Dressing was placed on the side. It just didn't look appetizing and it didn't taste much better. That kind of set the tone for the meal. But it got a bit better. My wife ordered the pecan crusted trout. A good attempt. It was a big, tender piece of trout completely covered in what I'm almost certain were almonds. Not pecans as advertised. Who knows, maybe I'm wrong but I don't think so. It was a tasty dish, but one I think I could have prepared at home. The highlight of the meal was my mushroom ravioli with pine nuts and brown butter. It was very good. I especially liked the pasta dough. It tasted homemade and had a nice firmness to it. Unfortunately for me, the dish was served cold. But after waiting a long time to get it, I didn't want to spend another 45 minutes to get a hotter version. I had high hopes for this restaurant based on the other reviews. Maybe it was this particular night, but nothing hit the mark. At least it ended well - our car didn't get towed!

The restaurant is tucked away and very cozy and while the parking lot is small, there's plenty of street parking. There's a comfortable familiarity to this restaurant that I needed after dining at some very expensive restaurants in DC.; fiesta dinnerware, Glenn Ellen wine, etc. The interior is simple and clean, the food was very tasty, and service was very nice. I'll be back for sure.

We got there at 7pm l and I quickly found out was an hr before closing. I just assumed they were open untill 9pm. Most tables had people already seated and a few dirty. It looked like they just had or were having a rush. We opted to sit at the bar. There seemed to only be 1 waitress for the whole place and while not that big, she was overwhelmed. My guess is because everyone came at once. The chef is the one who came over to get our drinks and give menu's, which was fine and he was very nice. I ordered the sausage flat bread and hubs ordered the steak salad. The food came quickly and things for employee's started to slow down and they were finally catching their breath. At about 10 minutes untill close several more people came in and while beat down the staff accepted their orders. My flat bread was delicious even though it was more like a pizza. The salad was also good and had strips of steak. Will definitely try again except much earlier in the day.

Petit filet, add on crab cake $5 but they charged us $7

This place is tucked away in the back part of a quiet street. When you walk in they have local honey and bees wax for sale. They have a bar area with plenty of seats and the dining area has maybe 8 tables. There was a older lady, a hostess/helper and I believe the cook. The food was delicious! I got the egg Benedict and added a crab cake which I wanted on the Benedict itself. It came out on the side instead. No biggie. My friends order the prime filet and added a crab cake as well. They made it into a prie fix meal, which came with a side order and 1 mini muffin, 1 quarter size bread and a cookie. Not bad saying if you wanted to add a side it would have cost the same! Additional charge was $5 I believe. Also the menu it said add crab cake for $5 but the bill came and it was actually $7. We didn't complain since the service wasn't that great and it already took kind of long for everything. They served us water right away, came back and asked if we wanted something other then that. Keep in mind it was only us for the first 15mins. They took our order and then we didn't see her again until our food arrived maybe 45mins later. The younger lady came over and asked how our meal was and it was delicious. We then asked her to refill our drink order since we haven't seen the older lady since she took our order. They did leave a pitcher of water at the table which was nice since they didn't have to come back to refill that. She was taking care of, now, the 2 other tables and the 2 couples at the bar area. Overall the food is a 5. Service is a 3 (maybe if the older lady smiled more) it would make customers feel more welcome and location is 4.

Did we listen? Not before, but now that we have been there, we can't wait to go back. From the outside, Carnivores looks like a dive bar. But au contraire, the place is actually NOT a dive bar at all. It's definitely a nice local restaurant/bar that has a Cheers vibe. Several of the tables had Reserved signs on them and I figured out that groups of people must have been gathering for NCAA Championship. Nevertheless, we were seated quickly and our orders were taken quickly and we were served piping hot food quickly. Fresh cut fries are one of my weaknesses and I couldn't resist ordering them along with the Jimbo sub which has shaved ribeye steak, hot sausage, provolone, mushrooms, onions and lettuce and tomatoes. Definitely a delicious gut-buster! And the fresh cut fries? Yeah, it was a boss move to order those to go with! If you're a beer drinker, this place is also for you because they have 8,000 different types of brands. Seriously, you can get your beer on with quite a number of varieties. We will definitely come back because of the fresh cut fries and affordable prices.

My default when I don't feel like being disappointed…read more @thepubat333 is that easy "let's just go to..." and no one argues it because it just...works. There's enough going on menu-wise that everyone figures it out, and I'm not exaggerating-every single time I've been there since they opened, someone at the table orders a French dip. Every. time. It's basically part of the experience now. Also if I see pierogi, I'm ordering pierogi. That's just who I am. Could've taken down the entire plate without blinking but I shared like a respectable adult (meanwhile mentally tracking which ones were supposed to be mine). It's just a laid back, neighborhood spot that doesn't try to be anything crazy and still ends up being exactly what you wanted. Fun fact: my friend and I once prank called from their landline, the owner immediately called back, we answered like nothing happened, and yeah...the phone was no longer an option for us after that

Bar seating was almost full with only a couple seats. Heard good things about their pizza too. There's free parking in the lot (although small). Shout out to our bartender Ange! The black and bleu shrimp was absolutely amazing. It's got blackened spice and has this creamy sauce that makes you go dip for more (I need that recipe honestly). If I had some bread, I'd definitely use this as a dip lol. We got the thin crust Sicilian pizza to share. The pizza unfortunately was very wet and kind of soggy. I think they could have waited to let it rest for a few min before serving because it would especially show when we were separate the slices and try to take one off the plate. I don't usually want my toppings and cheese to just slide off the pizza. Also since we were at a bar w/ some of the games going on, we wanted wings and got their crispy whole wings in a dry spice rub. They were pretty big wings and well seasoned -- not too spicy though if that's not your vibe.

You're probably here for some type of special occasion, because it is certainly pricey. I decided to splurge for a friend's birthday for brunch, which runs $95 per person and includes a mimosa. The same friend has visited a number of Frank Lloyd Wright houses with me, from this PA region to New York to Illinois, so it felt like the perfect place. I made a reservation on OpenTable and indicated that we had one vegetarian (myself). The restaurant followed up to make sure there were no other notes they needed to know, and also to see if I wanted to add anything on. You can add things like rose petals on the table and a single rose to the celebratory person, wine options, or an individual-ish celebration cake. I decided to add the celebration cake, which costs $20 and serves two people. There is a main restaurant, but the special experience this place has certainly become known for are the individual dining pods, which are out in the trees but well screened from any weather. There are heaters and fans available in your pod. It is a truly lovely private dining experience. You can just slightly hear conversations of other diners in nearby pods if you listen very hard, and there is piano music playing on speaker, which is instrumental version of popular songs like Britney Spears, Shakira etc. We found this funny but simultaneously enjoyed it. They had nice little touches like a Happy Birthday sign on the wall and an embossed happy birthday note for the birthday person to keep, and brought out chilled plates for a dessert involving frozen custard. It was nice attention to detail that reminded you this is a special dining experience. Service is attentive but unobtrusive and wants to make sure you are happy with your experience. Onto the food. The mimosas were already on our table when we arrived. Our server indicated they were sending out a complimentary amuse-bouche from the chef, which was an individual vegetable stuffed mushroom. It was delicious and a nice starting note. Then came the appetizer, a smoked burrata with pita, arugula, grape tomatoes and an edible orchid. Everything is so beautifully presented here, and just delicious. The entrées were crazy. There were two portions each of stuff French toast, potatoes and frittata. Those were all vegetarian and shareable. On a separate board came enough meat for two people to share as well, salmon, pork, sausage and carrots. Since that tray was not for me they also brought me a vegetarian bowl including veggies, chickpeas and quinoa. It was a lot of food and we ended up taking a nice amount of leftovers home from this part of the meal. Everything was wonderfully prepared, with the stuffed French toast probably being my favorite bite. Our server said she would be bringing dessert which I assumed was the celebration cake. But no, there was a French pastry each, presented with some fruit. They have a nice cocktail and cocktail menu and we elected to add an espresso mocktini each with this course. Those were on point and I've missed espresso martinis so much since I've largely given up drinking. After all of this came the celebration cake, which either came entirely or just the frozen custard from Tropical Bungalow, a local business. The Tahitian vanilla flavor was just delightful and the frozen custard was a wonderful texture. It was truly such a feast. We ate every bit of the desserts. One thing I appreciated here is that often when a place is known for the experience, the food is beautifully presented but not always plentiful. That is far from the case here, you are not going home hungry. My total bill came to $252, which included the two $95 brunches, the $20 celebration cake and two $14 mocktails. Adding a tip, I was a little over $300, which is a lot but it is a special occasion. We heard folks talking about staying overnight and looked up more information, and found that you can tour the four homes on the property here, two designed by Wright and two by his apprentice. In reviewing the tours I noted that there are package options, with one offering a tour of three of the houses and lunch at Tree Tops for a total of $75 per person (!). This is an incredible value and I think I would take this option next time, as the houses would definitely be worth touring as well. I look forward to my next visit here.

Daily special- pan seared mahi mahi with asparagus fennel kohlabi and arugula salad citrus buerre Blanc. Light citrus flavor is found thru the mahi mahi, its sauce and the salad. Very congruent. Asparagus was a neutral addition. Not flowing with or against the mahi. Fish was cooked well. Just lots of raw red onion on the salad was a little overpowering. 7/10 Red wine braised short rib- didn't ask how well done, so seems chefs choice. We have a preference towards med rare. This was cooked well done making it a tad tough-stringy. Mashed potatoes with some larger pieces of potato, but very neutral plain flavor, great with the beef sauce. Carrots cooked well, just neutral, natural flavor. Overall a very classic flavor combo that works.7/10. Would stop by again to try more dishes. Ps- when paying we noticed final bill to sign was more than first bill at table. When we asked why the difference we were told it's the credit card fee of $3.
