Stopped by for a late night bite. We had originally walked into another spot, but vibes were off. Walked into here and vibes were much better. Even though we walked into pretty late, service was great. My kid loved his burger. My wings (I think something sriracha) were delicious. Savory and cooked perfectly. Would definitely recommend and visit again.

Shiloh Gastro is a hidden gem atop Mt. Washington, offering scratch-made contemporary comfort food in a laid-back, relaxed setting--making it a perfect stop whether you're a local or just visiting the Mount. The ambiance is welcoming with both indoor and outdoor seating options, a full bar featuring bar stools and high tops, and even an upstairs area with additional dining space and a private room available for events. The staff is incredibly sweet and attentive, enhancing the warm, inviting vibe of the restaurant. They also run several fun weekly specials: Happy Hour all day on Mondays and again Tuesday through Friday from 4-6 PM, with deals on drinks and appetizers. On "211 Tuesdays," those who live or work on Mt. Washington receive 25% off their meals--a great local perk! And every Wednesday, enjoy half-off mac and cheese--a comfort food classic. From their new spring cocktail menu, I tried two standout drinks: Hibiscus Margarita: Sauza tequila, Cointreau, hibiscus, fresh lime juice, and a salted rim--bright, floral, and refreshing. Light My Way (Ultraviolet Daiquiri): Maggie's Farm rum, crème de violette, lavender simple syrup, and fresh lime juice--smooth, aromatic, and unique. For starters, the shrimp and crab stuffed mushrooms were a hit--baby portobellos filled with a rich mix of crab, spinach, and cream cheese, topped with garlic butter shrimp and balsamic glaze. Flavor-packed and satisfying. Next up was the strawberry caprese salad--a fresh spring mix tossed in balsamic vinaigrette, with red onions, diced strawberries, fresh mozzarella, basil pesto, and a drizzle of balsamic glaze. It was the perfect light and seasonal dish. For the main course, I tried one of their new menu items: stuffed shells filled with chicken, spinach, tomatoes, onions, cream cheese, mozzarella, and Parmesan. Served with garlic bread, this dish was indulgent, fresh, and absolutely delicious. I ended the meal with their cinnamon roll bread pudding, served warm with vanilla ice cream and caramel--comforting, decadent, and the ideal sweet finish. I can't wait to return and explore more of their spring/summer menu. Shiloh Gastro nails the balance of comfort and creativity--definitely worth the trip up the Mount!

Can't believe I have never made it here before. Big fan of this area of Mount Washington and I've heard so many good things about this spot in particular. It's nice that they have their own little parking lot, and if it's full there is always street parking or a number of public options such as a big lot just a couple of blocks away. It was an unseasonably warm day in late October so we sat on the outdoor patio and enjoyed their adorable Halloween decorations. We both ordered the mac & cheese, which was about as perfect as mac & cheese gets. Very cheesy and made with the right kind of pasta. It's available with a lot of add-on options such as proteins or veggies, too. Also ordered side salads which were very good, and I thought the dressings were noteworthy as at least some of them seem to be housemade. For example, there is a lemon honey vinaigrette and an apricot vinaigrette; I ordered the latter over my usual honey mustard and it was delicious. Finally there were the drinks; there were lots of fall specials and I seriously considered the flight of four mini versions of local fall beers. In the end I couldn't pass up the pumpkin espresso martini and that was a very good choice. Our server didn't hesitate to offer suggestions, was prompt and checked in often. This is clearly a neighborhood favorite, we saw plenty of groups coming in to grab drinks only, as well as groups coming to eat full meals. There were a lot of excellent looking food and drink items to try and I look forward to putting this spot into my regular rotation.

Food here never disappoints! Probably my favorite place to get food within the Shiloh street strip of restaurants. We went on Tuesday and because we live in Mt Washington we were able to get 25% off our meal because they have "211 Tuesday's" so anyone with proof they live in the 15211 zip code gets 25% off! Wait staff is always super great & it's not super cute inside however the deck seating outside is so nice in the spring & summer!

We stumbled upon this great neighborhood spot while enjoying the views from Mt Washington, and boy are we glad we did. Gastro Burger was one of the best burgers we've ever had. Wings were good, great beer list, solid pricing. No complaints.

Food: the food was really good! Lots of vegetarian and vegan options. Also notes for other dietary restrictions. The pierogies were one of my faves. Drinks were fine - a slightly larger selection might have been night. Service: the server was doing her best and was very attentive and friendly. She made sure we got everything we wanted and our drinks weren't empty. Ambiance: it's a sports pub and that's pretty much it. Very chill and homey. A little loud. Was able to watch the football game which was lovely too!

Went with my niece because of the vegan options and it didn't disappoint. The mushroom toast was a tasty appetizer to share. I had the mahi sandwich and subbed onion rings, all quite good. My niece loved the stuffed pepper. The cocktail menu was creative too. I loved the Shine on You Crazy Diamond. The service was friendly and attentive too. We enjoyed a nice walk along Grand Ave afterwards. The place has a feel of being just pub food, but it's actually a pretty creative menu. We'll be back again.

Absolutely delicious and amazing spot. I enjoyed both of the items I tried out from this place quite a lot. The location is also pretty nice. They have many of the American classics but they elevate them to another level. I tried out their pesto veggie melt and pierogi cheesecake. The pesto veggie melt was delicious. It was loaded with lots of fresh and tasty ingredients like cheese, spinach, mushrooms, some carrots, and other vegetables. They also include some sort of butter on the sandwich. It might have been a touch too much butter for me, but still, excellent. The bread was fresh and crispy too. They included fries with the sandwich as well, but they were just alright. Not bad, just not memorable. The pierogi cheesecake sounded like a unique dessert. It was very, very good. The portion is enough to share definitely. The inside is creamy. It is strawberry flavored but does taste a bit artificial. Still very good. They serve it with incredible strawberry ice cream that adds some coolness. Would definitely recommend this dish. All in all, highly recommend this gastro. High quality food for sure and a solid location. Definitely try the pierogi cheesecake. I'd come back!

LOVED our dinner at this place…read more We came here for dinner while visiting Pittsburgh. The first thing that struck me was the interior decor. Very industrial and moody with an open kitchen/preparation area that adds some intrigue. I do like to see the happenings of what's going on as someone with zero attention span. Service was excellent. George was fantastic. He kept a close eye on us without being overbearing. He anticipated what we might need so we didn't spend one second waiting to order anything. The menu is not endless or overwhelming which, presumably, allows them to focus on the items that are listed. I have decision panic so it was kinda nice to have less things to choose from. They asked if there were any allergies or dietary restrictions so I mentioned my vegetarianism. George went through the menu and pointed out the vegetarian options including what seems like it is vegetarian but isn't. They had TWO vegetarian entree options and fortunately the non-mushroom one was something I probably would have ordered anyway: pesto with walnuts, arugula, and a very generous amount of grated cheese. To start, I ordered the Brussels sprouts whichc I was warned had fish sauce. This was fine but nothing that blew me away. GF, on the other hand, loved this. GF ordered the wedge which was brought to our attention as vegetarian with the bacon on the side, which was her request. We ended up sharing both, a large part of that was because hers came out first and I couldn't wait but I'm so glad because the wege was FANTASTIC. The dressing? holy fuck pure ecastasy. The wedge was more like a filet shape which was much easier to eat. Who decided on the wedge shape anyway? The lettuce was so fresh and crisp and went wonderfully with that orgasmic dressing and breadcrumbs. Back to my pasta. Also delectable. Noodles were al dente. The sauce was creamy and packed that pesto umami flavor. The walnuts were a really nice contrast in texture. Everything about it absolutely fucking slapped. GF ordered the mushroom entree which came served on a bed of barley which, don't mind if I do, had a few forkfuls to "sample" for "my review". Again, so fucking good. Because it was my birthday, George provided a dessert (yuzu maybe?) that was served inside a meringue-esque igloo, creamy perfect balance of sweet and tart custard with some berry business underneath. Wonderful. I almost forgot their spectacular cocktails! Holy shit, literally they have a CORN CHIP cocktail that I could not pass up. It comes with two massive cornchips on top of a flavored foam. When you bring the glass up to sip, the cornchips are right in front of your nose and their aroma sets the stage for the drink which was STRONG. It wasn't as corn chip forward as I expected but I understand that flavor is probaly hard to create. For my second drink, I ordered the blue one which was refreshing, light, and really good. GF ordered a spritz which was gorgeous "it was good". For second round, I picked out some uranium thing that was very cucumbery, GF says, "it was good". I just read it outloud to her. "it's true!" Fantastic meal at a great place.

Definitely glad I chose that - it was fruity, but not overly sweet, with some bitterness from the absinthe and spices. I also had an order of fries, which were shoestring cut and came with a garlic aioli. They were a good snack before the show, and while $9 for fries is steep for fast casual, was not bad for a solo diner at a seated restaurant.

It serves wood-fired cuisine that uses locally raised meats, house-made pasta, and seasonal vegetables. Currently, during the winter, examples of menu items are small plates (e.g., roasted beet salad and heirloom carrots), mid courses (e.g., linguine and blue-bay mussels), large plates (e.g., sesame soy-glazed eggplant, pork chop, and picanha), desserts (e.g., pistachio cake and Kahlua fudge brownie), and alcoholic beverages (e.g., cocktails, mocktails, wines, and beers). For my husband and me, I made a reservation for dinner through the Resy website. I chose from options of the dining room, a four-season patio with awnings and heaters, and a chef's counter with a view of the kitchen. Please note that although the foods are upscale, the dress code seems to be smart casual. We parked our vehicle in a lot a short walk away. Upon our arrival to the restaurant, a seating hostess promptly greeted and seated us. Our server provided courteous and attentive service, such as taking our order and bringing our foods on time, refilling our waters, and cleaning my crumbs. We started with a Crab Cake with decent amount of crab meat, mushroom duxelles, tasty truffle aioli, and a side of arugula salad. My main course was Branzino with sides of beans-vegetables and parmesan cornbread. My husband's main course was Duck Breast with a blood-orange demi-glace, asparagus, and potatoes.
