BEST PITTSBURGH WING We were absolutely not expecting this and still can't believe it. We didn't have major expectations but hoped it would be at least a top 5 wing and average meal. It was beyond that The French onion soup we saw online and everyone seemed to enjoy that. We're whores for it so had to get. I like mine a tad bit salty which this was and PACKED with onion chunks and breaded leeks on top. It was impossible to get a spoon fully without any inclusions. My new favorite The Tavern Burger. I'm coming fresh off 9 years without 5 Guys (elite) and this rocked me harder than that. This isn't a stupid smash burger. We got a juicy COOKED PERFECT RARE 8oz patty, topped with sautéed onions, and bacon that isn't crisped to smithereens. I like my bacon medium rare and that's exactly what I got. Then covered in one of the craziest sauces I have ever had, their gorgonzola cream. I could drink that by the gallon The wings.... I have never had a wing itself cooked more perfect in my life. The smoke and meatiness on them was so nailed that I could get 2 dozen plain and still have the same reaction. We got the Buffalo Garlic and Dry Cajun Ranch. These wings don't need drenched in sauce by any means or it would honestly ruin it. The buffalo doesn't ned to be creamy either. Perfect amount of sauce to cheese ration. The dry cajun ranch was a fucking knockout. For how great the wing is I would love to see more dry season options with them Cam got a Tavern Dip. I hate dips. I loved the shaved ribeye on it and horseradish, but I have never been an Au Jus man. Would 100000% eat it without the au jus Then the fries. Always team psoriasis through and through. Not sure if I'm coming off the Five Guys high but their cajun boardwalk style are even better. Get some spicy honey aioli to dip them in. Truly just shocked at how amazing this place is. Right over the bridge and cannot recommend enough going here before a game and walking over. Great spot right before, after and during sports. Another great visit to Forbes Tavern. The Bang Bang Shrimp appetizer was delicious. The shrimp were large, perfectly cooked, lightly crispy, and coated in a creamy sweet heat sauce that had the right balance of flavor without being overpowering. While visiting my sister in Pittsburgh, we went to Forbes Tavern to get some dinner. We went on Sunday so they were doing a deal on wings. Each wing was $.75 along with four dollar Michelob ultras. We got the spicy barbecue, Asian, and garlic Parmesan wings and I must say they all tasted amazing. My sister got the Tavern burger, which she said was really good and I just got the tavern mac & cheese on the side, which was definitely better than I expected. We were looking for a bar type scene to get something to eat. The bar was pretty big and there was plenty of seating. The service was a little slow compared to the amount of people in there but the server was nice. The jalepeno poppers were very crispy and actually had some good spice. Late night grub & spirits in Steel Town USA. Did a random YELP search and Forbes Tavern a rustic style bar that serves outstanding bar food. Lucky for me it was a few blocks from hotel so after a quick stroll I was in. Super friendly greeter who directed me to a table. Our waiter was superlative ! This kid should be working in a Michelin-starred restaurant except in Pittsburgh, no Michelin Star restaurants exist. He deserves half clap for being awesome. No what you all desire know about and that's what did you eat Frank! Well, I had an amazing French Onion soup with overwhelming flavors. The wings which tasted like they had been smoked and then sauced applied but still delicious. Followed by a gyro & fries. Well , the fries were spectacular and gyro did the job. Visiting Pittsburgh in May '25. Second time here. I came to Forbes Tavern with a small group. Others had drinks, I had water and ordered the Tavern Burger w/ fries. The waitress did not ask me how I would like burger cooked. Burger arrived after a while, and it was the best juiciest burger I've had in a while. The Gorgonzola cheese and bacon went really nicely with burger. Only thing I didn't like is they put toppings like pickles, tomatoes, and mixed greens on side, rather than inside the burger. That was weird, but understandable as it was almost overfilled already. Burger itself was juicy and tasty enough. The fries with ketchup were pretty good. Passing through for work and was pleasantly surprised at the high quality lunch that I stumbled upon at Forbes Tavern. The food was very delicious however the bottled beer wasn't cold. One of my pet peeves! It is very small inside. It probably only seats around 35-40 people so expect to wait for a table on game days/nights. I'd definitely go back and try some diff stuff next time. read more

Impressive beer selection, but those of us drinking Miller Lite felt right at home as well. The wings were really good (multiple flavors to choose from) and we followed them up with a couple of sandwiches. The Pittsburgh flatbread was a little hard to eat because you couldn't pick it up. My coworkers and I will sometimes order takeout from Forbes Tavern when we're in the office. I order the same thing each time: the crab cake sandwich. Forbes Tavern has one of the best crab cakes I've ever tasted. I always want to branch off and try something new, but the crab cake is just too good. It's served with a side of fries and they are really good too! Everytime I pick up an order, the staff are always very kind and nice. It's always fairly busy with patrons dining in (I pick up my order around lunch time). The ambiance is your typical bar with lots of TVs. I think Forbes Tavern is great! read more
