Fast food at restaurant prices, the smash burgers were just slightly crispier than a McDonalds burger but the taste was the same, when the burger came, it was already cold and was not seasoned nearly enough. Maybe they have better showings, but this was not one of them. Beer was good, but any the restaurant has good beer when they don't brew it. read more

What I love most about this place is you can take the beers you buy off the shelves downstairs to the bar and they can quick freeze it and serve it to you cold and refreshing like right out of the tap. The downstairs bar has beers on tap but they also have several cans and bottles that are cold in the cooler and also ones on the shelves to either buy and take home or quick freeze and drink there too. They serve some food too and even though it's limited to what you can get they will have something that caters to your palate. Went into Bierport on Saturday afternoon on a walk while I explored Lawrenceville. The selection upstairs was solid with some locals as well as foreign and limited brews like Russian River sours and some heavy pastry stouts... Basement beer grotto looked great but bartender was seemingly uninterested in being friendly or helpful. I almost felt like my sample was an inconvenience for him to pour, but maybe he was having a bad day. Plus some seating and a small bar. That night we weren't there to drink but were picking up a specific beer and checking what they had available. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Every time I have stopped in I am greeted and asked if I need help. They always are willing to answer questions or even just chat about beer. They also will just leave you alone to wander and check out the selection if you prefer. They definitely have a variety available, especially considering the size of the place. They also usually have some variety six packs assembled (often with different themes) and have some staff pick recommendations. It's definitely a fun place just to stop in and browse the beer. Second visit to the Bierport. This is a fun and interesting place to sit and enjoy a drink. The first floor has a large display of many beers for take out purchase. Down the narrow steps to the grotto the feel is cozy and inviting. More beers line the walls and a cooler of additional beers. If your selection isn't in the cooler or on tap for an additional charge you can have your can or bottle quickly cooled to enjoy. There are several high top tables to sit at and a booth with TV. In addition to a number of beers on tap the first floor has a selection of of zero alcohol beers. My three star rating reflect the Beers being served in plastic cups. This place blows my mind with their selection of beer, the number of events they have going on throughout the week, and the friendliness of the staff! There is an upstairs and downstairs of walls of different types of craft beer. Flavors for every person's taste, seasonal types, and unique brands. We were in the taproom with friends on Friday night . . . excellent selection as well as great fun and atmosphere, So, I lost my gloves that night, not knowing where, and dropped by today to check. We've been here a couple times and it's a fun spot. We head downstairs to hang out at the bar. It's dog friendly and have board games, if that is your choosing. There are a few tables, it doesn't hold many, but a good vibe. We take a spot at the bar and the bartenders are very helpful, quality service. There are specials even on the weekends, which isn't typical especially for the neighborhood. I'm here on a regular basis because they're directly next door to a movie theater, meaning that it's super easy to find a unique beverage to enjoy during my movie night. The top floor of Bierport is pretty much all craft beer; on the stairs to their lower level is a selection of cider that I frequent. The lower level houses their collection of fizzy drinks (think Red Ribbon plus the independent brews that you can find scattered throughout the rest of the U.S.); a refrigerator with some chilled beverages; and a small bar/tasting area. There's also seating in a corner that I've seen converted into a performance space when they bring in musicians. Because there's so much within such a cool and cozy space, I am able to come here with literally anyone I know and have fun. Friends and I have browsed and purchased sugary fizzy drinks for our movie night; put together six packs of beverages to go home with us after our movie; laughed at the amazing names on some of the craft brews; even hung out between dinner and our movie in the lower level, just spending some time together chatting. It's impressive since I have a number of friends who cannot or do not drink - so Bierport having enough to satisfy both myself and my alcohol-free pals is really appreciated by all. Don't feel like you have to limit yourself to the refrigerator if you're looking for a cold brew, by the way; they have a rapid cooling system at the checkout counter, so as long as you're ok waiting a couple more minutes, you can go about your night with a chilled brew. Grab a cardboard container and pick away! Yes, beer by the bottle and can. If you venture downstairs, you can try some beers on tap and try more from the cooler. Cool place with a cool vibe. I'm kicking myself now but there was a board with daily specials, and I didn't take a pic. Mainly because a couple looked to be on a date and it was smack dab in the middle of them. I most recently stopped by for Row House Cinema's "George A. Romero week", where they had horror trivia at Bierport. They had a great selection of drafts that I haven't seen at other bars, so I was excited to try something new. I had a really incredible dark stout with raspberry, and my boyfriend had a few pumpkin beers. We had a great time at trivia, although we were slightly uncomfortable because we had to sit along the side and weren't lucky enough to grab a table. Next time we will arrive earlier. Their beer selection is awesome- they have TONS of beer and it's really easy to navigate around and find what you're looking for. Overall, this place rocks. read more

The guys at Bierport sold me two Zima today. Not only did they sell me two Zima but they all chilled the two Zima and placed them each in a brown paper bag for me. There's nothing better than an ice cold Zima, at 4pm on a Saturday afternoon for the first time in 20 years, in 85 degree weather, to remind you to be thankful that Beirpoet sells bottles by the single. The top floor has many different bottles for purchase and the bottom floor is a small taproom. The bottle prices are generally expensive - around $2-4 per bottle, but they give you a bit of a discount if you buy a six pack. There is a great variety of beers and great for anyone with specialty taste in beer. The taproom prices are normally $6-8 per draft and they do $2 off during happy hour 4:30-6:30pm MWF and on Sundays during their game night. They usually have a great beer selection on tap with around 20 to choose from. They publish their beers on their website so you can look at their tap list before you go. The taproom is relatively small, but they have a SEGA which is fun to play on while drinking beers. You are also able to bring food into the taproom so you can take out food from nearby restaurants or home to eat with your beer. Overall a great place to get beer especially if you like specialty, harder to find beers. Prices are expensive for bottled beer, but reasonable for draft beers, especially with the happy hour discount. read more

They have such a great selection that even if you aren't really into beer, there is probably something there for you (just ask!). I disappear into their basement every time I attend. I'm gay, and I usually come here with my outwardly gay (based on how she dresses - we get stared at a lot) partner and we've never been made to feel uncomfortable. They have a doggone SEGA for you to play with like a bazillion games on it plus all the beer you can drink and you can bring your doggo! The last time I was there I spent 7 hours there. Not kidding. Not to mention the tantalizing smell of popcorn floating down the stairs from the movie theater. The people that come there are friendly and the space is intimate so it encourages conversation. Excellent, well-organized craft beer selection, nice staff, and relatively fair prices. Atlas has a fairly unique setup, with it's connection to Row House Cinema, and its tasting room downstairs. They also eschew large coolers of beer in favor of individual bottle chillers that work well for grab-and-go. The only downside of that approach is that the chillers take a few minutes to get your beer to drinking temps (for those of us who prefer cold beer), but the staff is nice and a brief conversation about beer or whatever will pass the time quickly. Overall, Atlas is great for the craft beer curious, and it's a great alternative to the case-focused distributors in the area. read more

Here for our second event at Bierport, and not disappointed in the least. The vibe is always chill in the tap room downstairs, and the selection of beer is outrageous. I wish they had more cold cases. However, the amount of electricity needed to house all the variety of beer they have would light a small country. One of the greatest things about this place is that you can buy some beer, and take it to the Row House Theater to drink while watching a flick. And I'm not just talking your run-of-the-mill, flat, 3% beers. I'm talking yummy, craft, geared toward your personal taste beer. Bierport is always have neat, kitschy events. I am incredibly lucky to live right down the street, so I can come in here and have a gander of ALL the beers. Such a huge selection, can always find something I like, and the staff will help you without being annoying. :) the best part is the little bar downstairs where you can sample some of the beers/ciders - and it is Dog friendly! I love stopping in with my pooch, esp during the hot summer on walks so I can grab a beer and he can hang on the nice cold concrete floor and get all the love from folks walking by. Bierport is a great craft beer store. It is merchandised in a great way. It's easy to see all of their offerings. They had a great selection of craft beers. You could also get growlers of beer. You can't leave empty handed. They have a couple of tables out front to sit and enjoy your beer. They were having a live band downstairs. We didn't have time to stay and listen but we would definitely go back and check out a band or two. The store is also adjoined to a bar but we didn't go in. I'm not sure if the bar served food or not. All in all its a great place and people were enjoying themselves. read more

I first want to start this review by saying that I'm a pretty positive person and give everyone a fair chance also rarely give bad reviews ,but here it goes. A buddy and I visit bierport Saturday 12/14/2019 and the place a very nice hangout spot ! Very clean and stylish place with an overwhelming selection of craft beers! The only reason why I am giving it a one star is because of the staff! The lady who was bartending in the lower bar was extremely rude and standoffish. She showed very little to no interest in the customers and apparently got annoyed with the conversation that me and my friend were having and very rudely raised her voice/ yelled for us to leave. I looked around in disbelief thinking she was talking to somebody else that may have done something physically to somebody but she continued to stare me down and pointed at me. Walking in through the bar earlier I told her that if we got loud to please let us know and we would tone it down but she never mentioned anything and she never told me what my buddy why she was tossing us! I'll she did was yell and point! I apologized to her for any wrongdoing and asked if I could pay my tab and she said " no! It's on the house! Just get the f**k out"... now at this point everyone is staring at us so I begin to leave yet again apologizing as exiting. It's been a couple days and I still find myself scratching my head and complete confusion of why exactly we were treated in such a manner. Perhaps a misunderstanding? Perhaps she was having a bad day?I don't know but whatever it was deserve to be treated that way. I'm really into this place. Everyone who works here is fab. You can't beat it when your bartender gives you a run down of the taps and gives samples. With multiple taps on, everyone can find something (and if you can't find a tap that trips your trigger, you can get one of their hundreds of bottles chilled in just a few minutes!!)
