When I first moved to Ambridge a close friend and I were walking around town, and they were really sad to see that Orbitt Inn had closed, so a couple years later, I was very surprised when it popped up on a google search and said it was open. I had to stop in and see for myself. What I found was a fun little spot with BIG vintage charm and a great small town vibe. Everyone was so friendly and the chef recommended the cheesesteak. *cue eyeroll* I used to work at a Philly style cheesesteak restaurant in Richmond,VA that made cheesesteaks that rivaled any I've ever had--even in Philadelphia. Since moving back, if I wanted a cheesesteak, I had to make it myself. So, I shared my cheesesteakismology with the chef, and was honest that I probably would judge it pretty hard. You just cannot get a Philly in the Pittsburgh area. Everyone here serves a ....steak hoagie. I don't want your steak-ums with your provolone cheese or lettuce or tomatoes and onion. I do want peppers, onions and American cheese all mixed up into gooey greasy mess and served on a fresh hoagie roll. Plot twist~He held his stance and was 100% confident that he, in fact, does make the best Philly in town and assured me that he actually uses American too--to which I smugly replied "but do you mix it in?"-- and much to my surprise he did. Still having doubts that I would recieve a cheesesteak that would meet my expectations, I figured the least I could atleast give it a shot, duh. So I placed my order and waited.... 1099 % surpassed my expectations!! This cheesesteak sent me into a dreamlike state. Nostalgia washed over me and the heavens opened up, sending me into cheesy steaky bliss! Amazingly delicious cheesesteak! Honestly, the best I've ever had in Pennsylvania, and I have tried a lot of em'. If you haven't been back since they reopened or maybe you've never been there before in your life, I want to tell you, don't walk--RUN--to Orbit Inn and treat yourself to a tasty, juicy treat! I'll definitely be frequenting this establishment and so happy I don't have to scrub cheese from my frying pan anymore for the sake of a great Philly! For that I will be forever grateful. Friday fish is amazing. Grilled or fried, nice quantity. Old timey bar, but very clean. A neighborhood classic.

I would rate it zero stars if I could. Ordered by phone: two fish sandwiches and mac and cheese. They said it would be an hour, ok, it is a busy Friday. Arrived one hour later and stood in line and they sent me from the bar to a server in the restaurant area. This area had a server for take out but they could not find my order. Then the server sent me back to the bar. Then the bar server got someone else. After more waiting I was told they lost my order. They claimed the power has been on and off (but they did not lose the orders for the other people in line). They offered to restart my order but I do not have another hour to wait so I will take my business elsewhere. read more

Please be patient with them! They just reopened about a month ago and have been getting very busy. I usually don't do reviews this early on a place but I couldn't stop thinking about it. The two women at the bar immediately greeted us as soon as we stepped in. We sat at the bar, there is dining seating they kept the original look in that area. They said the fish recipe is exactly the same from before. Food was very good. Can't wait to return. All the staff was extremely personable & they really have their hearts all in. My dad and I went and had a table right away. We had the Friday fish and a cheeseburger. Everything tasted great. Recommend this place. They do run out of the fish by 6, so go early! read more

My friends and I have been searching for the best burger in the area. After eating at the Orbit, I think we found it! The "smash" burger was grilled to perfection. The fresh toppings and Breadworks bun topped it all off. With the both the friendly staff and owners, we are sure to make this one of new "go to" places! read more

Heard this place had new owners, so I had to check it out. I was not disappointed. The fried pickles, pub pretzel sticks, and Thai chili shrimp were awesome. Tried the inn burger, caramelized onions, 1/2 pattie and Munster cheese. Delicious. Came for the food, stayed for the whiskey sour. read more

I had a taste for fish on a Friday night and this place was recommended by a family member, so I said I would try it out. I ordered a fish dinner and a plan fish sandwich to go, when I got home I was shocked by how much fish I got in one meal three large pieces of fish, fries, and coleslaw. I can say I didn't care for the coleslaw it was dry and a little bland, the fish was fresh, flaky, but needed a little more seasoning so I had to add tarter sauce and hot sauce. All and all the food was ok. The price was reasonable for the amount of food you get. read more

***Avoid this place**** We just got home from the fish fry at Orbits restaurant in Ambridge. Our party of six all agreed that we should have stopped at McDonald's for a filet-o-fish. The place is a dive bar- usually my favorite for fish or wings- but this place is beyond awful. Friday is the only day the place is non-smoking, so it smelled like a dirty ashtray. Dimly lit- and thank goodness for that- it obviously was not very clean. We arrived and were glad that the only area to seat more than 4 was available (though I honestly wish it were not, and we had been forced to go elsewhere). They don't serve iced tea, except for cans of Lipton, and that should have tipped me off. We ordered after only a few minutes of being seated, but then the wait began. After an HOUR AND A HALF, we noticed other tables being served before us, despite arriving well after we had. The waitress then told us that our order was next in line, but a full 20 minutes later, the same waitress told us that she had two more orders, "and then ours would be right out." I am NEVER one to complain about my meal to the owners. I figure that if I get lousy service or bad food, I simply won't go back. For the first time, EVER, I was forced to knock on the kitchen door to get an answer. The manager was INCREDIBLY RUDE, and failed to even apologize. She just said that the regulars get served first, and that I should have known that, somehow. At the time I was invited into the kitchen, the ladies were cracking up and eating French fries from an order. Probably ours. Eventually, we got our fish, which was nothing special. Far greasier than average, fish with a bonus-- soggy black skin was visible under the breading. We will never return to this disgusting hole-in-the-wall. Rude management and sub-par food make this dive a no-go. read more

Great local Restaurant, with Full Bar, Friday there is a fish fry with large portions of cod at a very good price. If you like local places and memories of years ago please stop in here before a chain restaurant, when these places are gone your only choice will be McSomething, with brass rails or playgrounds. This place is a hidden treasure! They have fish/seafood every Friday here! The portions are large & meals include fries & coleslaw for under $10!! Everything is cooked to order and you can tell the oil and the ingredients are fresh. This is the best fish sandwich & oyster sandwich I have ever had! There are also other things on their menu but I come for just the seafood. My family & I have been coming here for years!!!! read more
