Standard diner experience. We came for lunch on a Sunday. The side salad was just so-so but the tuna melt was excellent. My hubby got the countryfried steak, which was basically carbs on carbs on carbs (breaded meat, breakfast potatoes, and toast). We took the toast home, and I had it for breakfast the next day. I have been to K&N multiple times for a sit-down breakfast and also take out. The food was always your typical home-town breakfast go-to. The service is absolutely deplorable. I ordered takeout multiple times and only had two that were incorrect with overcooked eggs, toast, and issues with the bacon being burnt to a crisp and only given one sad piece in one of the two orders. I asked just for the order to be corrected for the two of MANY I've ordered. I have been told not to return because of the two orders I asked to be just adjusted to the way they were ordered despite me being very kind and professional when asking about the situation. I was told that I wasted (specifically) $4 of their profit to ask for my 2 orders (out of dozens that Ive been there for) to have them corrected. This is just sad and completely unacceptable. Hopefully the staff takes this situation and learns to not treat customers, especially very loyal ones, with respect. I cannot recall the name of the employee that has done all of this, but she is one of the main workers. Others have been kind servers. Will never return and don't recommend. Hopefully others dont either after this information. read more

Stopped into K & N to grab breakfast for lunch. The service was very fast and friendly. They have a pretty large menu so I was conflicted between a few items and almost pivoted to one of the sandwiches or burgers, but settled on breakfast. It was delicious all around. A really lovely old-school diner! Visited a few weeks ago with my in-laws and had a no-frills, comforting, delicious breakfast. I tried breakfast platter with eggs (scrambled), bacon, hash browns, and a biscuit. So simple but so good! The ambiance is very homey and very much a classic diner. The folks working are kind and efficient, and the price is very reasonable for the portions and the quality. I didn't manage to take a photo but I know I'll return, so I'll remedy that next time! read more

A cute little dinner, perfect for a quick breakfast. The decorations take you back in time, it looks like you jumped back into the 50's. The staff is helpful and friendly! Ask for Heidi to be your server, you won't be disappointed. There isn't a microwave in sight which is rare for diners. I ordered the scrambler and one pancake. My girlfriend got the eggs Benedict. My dish was a really large portion and it was cheap. I got bacon in my scrambler, which was a great choice. All of the ingredients were throughout the dish, nothing was missing and it was cooked perfectly. I wish I would have gotten two pancakes because it was so delicious! Very buttery and fluffy texture. The Eggs Benedict was okay. The sauce was a bit lack luster, it didn't have much flavor. The eggs were cooked perfectly, the yolks were still nice and runny. Hard to find perfectly cooked eggs even at high class restaurants. The portion was just right, very filling. I was very pleased with the experience overall, I would definitely return in the future. It's a little too far from Pittsburgh to come often but it's a great place to get away from the hustle and bustle in the morning. A great local find! read more

Couldn't believe what I saw at lunch time on Monday. My wife and go here now and again, they have great liver and onions. Wouldn't normally have been here this day, but the Maple is closed on Monday, we had to stop at the vacuum repair, so K&N it was. The older female server flipped out on a guy (obvious veteran) with a service dog, claiming "she needed to see ID" for the dog. I'm not a restaurant owner or manager, but the ADA laws are pretty clear - restaurants cannot ask for this type of documentation on service animals or disabilities of people. Then the manager or owner comes out of the back to agree that this guy can't stay saying "that dog is so hairy the health department wouldn't allow it" - wrong again. And also a goofy comment. Gonna find themselves in a discrimination lawsuit sooner rather than later unless they learn some laws. Just totally disrespectful to a beautiful dog with a veteran. The guy and his party left without saying a nasty word. More than I would have done if it was me, I would have told them a thing or two. My wife made me bite my lip because we are local. read more

50's Diner with excellent food and service! The waitress even asked me how I wanted my bacon and home fries cooked, and the cook himself brought out my meal to me and asked if it looked good. Cute place but waited 10 minutes before we were even greeted and asked what we wanted to drink. Ordered our food at the same time and 40 minutes later the food came out. The waitress was friendly and bubbly but was running the whole show besides cooking. Definitely should've had someone else also working. The food was good, but not to return for that kind of wait. Generally a very good place. My favorite waitress works here some days and other servers are all nice. NOTE: This is a recent change. I used to think K and N stood for Kind and Nasty, and was meant to warn you of the risk of getting the wrong server. Most of the food is excellent and priced well, but there are weak spots. The sauce on the Benedict is weak and the pancakes have no flavor and are terrible. I am not an expert but I guessed the batter was overworked, or old, probably both, which, coincidentally, may have been the problem with the old server. read more

So I came back for lunch and another 5 stars from us! We got a tuna melt on Mancini and added fries and slaw which all were perfect! My husband got the hot roast beef and he loved it! The gravy is phenomenal. We also got a side of potato soup and fried mushroom which also were perfect! We did a Togo and actually got our order right, including extra sauces. Just went here for the first time and the food was delicious! Although they served the country fried steak as a dinner, they let me have it as a breakfast with 2 eggs, homefries, and toast on the side. The toast was buttery and crispy, and the eggs were cooked perfectly. I'm usually really picky about breakfast potatoes, but their homefries were delicious as well. The first time I ate here we arrived after leaving another local restaurant where we were seated & not waited on for 10 minutes...when we arrived at K & N we were greeted and my children each were given a matchbox car & other trinkets to keep from the owner. Came here to try somewhere new for breakfast and it was definitely worth the trip! I loved the old diner feel that you get as soon as you walk in, there's so much to look at and even though it's not huge you don't feel like you're on top of everyone else which is always a nice thing. The omelettes were huge, I got the bacon and cheese and my boyfriend got the meat lovers and they were both packed full of ingredients and took up over half of the plate, along with the home fries and toast it was definitely more food than what I could handle. It was hard to believe we only spent around $7 a person with drinks for as much as we got, awesome!! The waitress was super friendly and the food came out pretty quickly too.
