Stopped in on a particularly rainy night and with street parking, we came in drenched. haha! Duss Ave Cafe has real smalltown, hometown vibes, which by no means is a bad thing! My husband and I love to try new restaurants and though we don't often go back to the same place twice (simply because there are so many places around here! We want to try it all!), we do love to make recommendations to people when they ask, knowing we have tried lots of places. We got the fish and chips dinner as well as the fried chicken dinner. Both were superb! Hot, fresh, moist, all the things you hope for and love in a chicken or fish dinner. Our son go the kids meal pizza and we all had some nibbles! Very good! Stopped in on a very rainy Friday night. I've driven by Duss Avenue Cafe regularly but hadn't stopped in until tonight. The Friday Fish Fry was particularly interesting to me, and my wife had heard good things about the fried chicken too. Accordingly, we ordered the Fish Dinner and the Chicken Dinner. My son got the pepperoni pizza off the children's menu. When we walked in we were seated quickly and provided drinks so thereafter. Food was ready about 20 minute after ordering. The waitress was friendly too which was nice. Duss Avenue definitely has that comfort food, local, and friendly vibe that is nice and welcoming for locals and out-of-towners alike. While the menu prices have been raised 15% due to inflation, the prices were still reasonable and the chicken was moist and the fish breading was crispy and flavorful. My son enjoyed his pizza too. I've been here several times with family. I've been here with one person, with a group of 14 & with a party of 5. Each time the service is amazing. This place is spacious, clean & well run. I'd like to thank the Duss ave Cafe. I went there for lunch today and no one was there. (11:30ish) I walked-in, stood around for a while, then walked through the dining area and back again. Waited around a few more minutes and still saw no one. Because of this I ended up going down the street to Annie Lees Southern Kitchen, and it was FANTASTIC! You get 1 star because of the nonexistent customer service, and 1 more because your lack of service sent me to someplace really good. Thanks again. read more

The chicken wings are awesome. We like our sauce on the side not on the wings so the wings stay crispy. Charges to have the sauce on the side are ridiculous! What makes the difference if they put it on the wings or we dip wings into the sauce???? It is not like we are asking for anything extra but certainly pay for it! Fries are iffy. When they are good. They are really good. But not consistent. Does oil need changed more frequent. Do enjoy the wings! read more

Wednesday afternoon, we placed a take out order. We liked everything we got. Garlic Parmesan wings, hot wings, french fries, onion rings. I like the way everything was packaged, and the stuff was great. I ordered 18 wings, but only ate 14 --they are big. Hot wings do not burn your mouth off, a lot of people would enjoy them. Picked up my order and when I got home I was missing sides, dipping sauces, the wings were dry instead of being tossed in sauce. The food we did get was ice cold. I called them and they said they will remake the order. Once I arrived the host asked I waited a few minutes until the host asked if I brought the food back. I said no, because I was not instructed to, but if I was suppose to I would have done so. She then got some cook from the back who told me now i would not get my new food, and only gave me the sides that were missing. This will be the last time I order anything from them. This is definately a hidden gem- their grilled chicken salads are the best I've had from a restaurant. They put in everything but the kitchen sink. I alwaysask for xtra lettuce because there's so many vegetables, eggs, chicken, fries and cheese that there's little room for lettuce. Their ranch dressing is so good I could drink it!! The wings and fries with their signature seasoning are to die for. Everything is huge- you can feed at least 2 or 3 people so for what you get the price is very reasonable. read more

I was very disappointed. So was my friend. We like to try new places every time we eat out. We were optimistic about the chicken. It is supposed to be their specialty. The chicken strips were extremely over cooked, dry, and SHARP! It seemed like it was leftover food being served to us. The food was warm not hot. The fries could have been cooked longer. We also ordered soft pretzels. Mine was a plain one. $2.00 and .50 for cheese. The outside of pretzel had too much butter on it. It was also too crunchy. Her pretzel was $4.00. It was supposed to be jalapeño and cheese stuffed. It was cooked so long that the pretzel was actually hard. They charge for lemon in your tea. They charged for a dipping sauce for the chicken. I didn't order extra. They charge for all of them. At check out we were charged 3.5% to pay with a debit card. The waitress asked how our food was. We complained. We couldn't stick around for a new meal to be cooked because we had somewhere to be. We were not offered a discount. It was obvious the food wasn't good. Very disappointed. Not sure why such a popular place only has one review???? My original review stands here are the updates. Place is super busy now but thats because it just relaunched due to the previous building catching fire. Food still pretty much tastes exactly the same. Nice to see a wider choice of food and beverage on the menu. Heard delivery is in the future so thats a huge plus for when I'm feeling lazy. The new spot is super clean. Have been there a few times. Food is decent, but the service...if you want to wait 1.30 minutes for breakfast on a Saturday for half of your parties order to be wrong, than by all means..go.. I won't be back. We had a party of 6. There was only 1 waitress on a Saturday for breakfast. I understand they might have had a staffing issue, but we waited 20 minutes for water..then waited another hour for our breakfast. I just picked up an order of wings and fries from the Cafe. I had been pre warned by a coworker that the hoopla around the wings was grossly unwarranted. I made the mistake of trying them anyway. I am speculating that anyone who thinks that this is good chicken has NEVER tasted good fried chicken. The wings are very unappealing esthetically. Then comes the seasoning. They are dry and have no flavor. Perhaps a little brining might help. I bought a dozen, and I am throwing 11 away. Next the fries; good hand cut fries should be cooked twice. It is not clear that these were thoroughly cooked once. I will never buy food from this establishment again. They only accept cash. Of course there is an ATM , which charges a fee in order for one to use. I chose to go to my own bank to get the cash. $15.00 and gas wasted. I would suggest that if someone really want to taste good wings, The Duss Avenue Cafe should be avoided. read more
