    Pepperoni pizza
    Spencer S.

Stopped in on a very rainy Friday night. I've driven by Duss Avenue Cafe regularly but hadn't stopped in until tonight. The Friday Fish Fry was particularly interesting to me, and my wife had heard good things about the fried chicken too. Accordingly, we ordered the Fish Dinner and the Chicken Dinner. My son got the pepperoni pizza off the children's menu. When we walked in we were seated quickly and provided drinks so thereafter. Food was ready about 20 minute after ordering. The waitress was friendly too which was nice. Duss Avenue definitely has that comfort food, local, and friendly vibe that is nice and welcoming for locals and out-of-towners alike. While the menu prices have been raised 15% due to inflation, the prices were still reasonable and the chicken was moist and the fish breading was crispy and flavorful. My son enjoyed his pizza too. I'd like to come back and check out the breakfast menu next.

    Chicken dinner.

Wing prices are ridiculously high. A lot of other places around are $2 or more cheaper.

I paid $10 for a steak hoagie that had gristle, cheese and bread. Staff was nice, but kinda pricey for bit really good quality food.

Haven't been in a while, however since I have been in Pa. They have the best wings I have tasted. Great sauces. Also very polite.

From what I understand, they…read morehave two or three different types of blueberry cheesecake (plus other flavors) but the one I like is in the photo I posted here. It specifically has the creamy frosting and a really good crust that is cinnamony or something like that. It's not always available, but if so, definitely try it. Also the cannoli cheesecake is sooo good too. They have an extensive menu of many things (see photos of it that I posted) The guy who works there is very welcoming and friendly (I believe his mother owns the cafe) It's a cozy little cafe that definitely has a home style vibe. I'll be going back.

Inside there are display cases filled with baked goods, plenty of tables, and a small, comfortable seating area. They also have some fun seating options, including stools shaped like bagels and donuts, which my kids enjoyed. Even though I went inside, I was not feeling my best, so my wife handled the ordering on this visit. She ended up choosing a hot Snickerdoodle latte for me, which was made with vanilla, honey, and cinnamon. The coffee ended up being quite good. The drink started with a pleasant sweetness and a prominent cinnamon flavor before the rich coffee notes emerged on the finish. Since the espresso still came through despite the flavorings, I suspect they use a fairly robust espresso blend. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. Both my wife and I enjoyed our drinks, and the baked goods looked tempting as well. My wife and daughter had visited previously and enjoyed the food, which only gives me another reason to come back and try more of the menu.

Service: Been there twice and the waitstaff was very attentive and polite both times, no complaints. Haven't sat at the bar but it looks inviting. Food: Wasn't bad but wasn't exceptional. The menu has a lot of great offerings but nothing I have tried was on par with say, other German inspired establishments in the area. Both times the food was sort of cold as well. I think with some tweaks and tuning it'll be better than other places in the area. My only other complaints were that the seating, although rustic, is rickety and uncomfortable. They were playing TOP 40 country music which was also sort of weird for how the place looks inside. I am pretty easy to please and feel the place has a ton of potential, with the right improvements and some marketing they will be extremely busy as it's probably one of the most unique eating establishments in the area.

The atmosphere of this two hundred year old building saved the evening along with the friendly service. They need to improve their culinary skills however if they hope to stay the course.
