The buns are just right. Not real thick to take away from the burgers. The fries and onion rings are the best around. Wait staff is always attentive and willing to go the extra mile for requests. Frank has been there forever and always has great suggestions if you can't decide. He is "Bowser's " mascot! The roast beef , fries and gravy are second to none! I never knew this place existed, because they're tucked in between the hotels next to the Holiday Inn & rather non-descript in appearance from the outside. A bartender at another local restaurant in Monaca actually recommended this place to some guys who were at her bar and so I inquired about it. Finally managed to stop there today. They do have an easy online ordering system. I was told that it would be 30 minutes, but it was maybe about 20 until it was ready. I tried the two meat plate with pork and brisket, and I chose the sides as barbecue baked beans and coleslaw. I also ordered the capicola sandwich, but as a wrap, you can make any of their regular sandwiches into a wrap if you don't want the regular bread. Their Pittsburgh style sandwiches are all made like Primanti Brothers sandwiches with the coleslaw and the french fries fries on them. I actually really enjoyed the wrap. The baked beans are at least three different types of beans and they are smoked & flavorful. They were quite tasty. And the coleslaw is good too, they cut the mayo with cream cheese. The meat flavor was OK and we finished it, but today both our meats were slightly dry even after putting BBQ sauce on them. They do have lots of beer on tap & in bottles as well as some liquor. There are some high top tables, and then there are lots of regular tables made for larger groups. It's definitely an old school type place, BBQ dive. All staff is friendly & online ordering was easy. The sign of front says that you can call the number and they will bring your takeout order out to you in the parking lot. I went inside because I wanted to check the place out. I'd stop again if in the area I'd give it 3.5 stars actually due to the meats being dry. They do have smokers in the parking lot, but there were no ribs on the menu today. read more

You don't see cookers like they have in many places outside of Texas. The brisket is not as good as high end Texas but for this part of the country, it is good. When they ask moist or dry, you know they know the difference. 4 different sauces to go with it. Liked 3 of the 4 pretty well. In western Pennsylvania, fries are with the meat. read more

Dined in at Bowser's for the first time last night. The service was fantastic, the food was good, the atmosphere was good very casual, local bar. As soon as you step out of the car you smell the meats as they have smokers in the parking lot under a big tent. My son ordered wings all flats, $18 for 10. Well seasoned, fantastic homemade ranch! I ordered the taco special, the portion was large and filling. The tacos were really good except the brisket was fatty (my taco has several pieces of just fat in it) which was disappointing because I saved it for last thinking it would be the best! And the buffalo chicken wrap with fries was a great buy, large portion. I would definitely return and try some other menu items....like a salad or a Bowser bowl. For the record, I would have rated it a 4.5 but half stars aren't an option. But give it a try if you haven't been. Heard their Bowser sandwiches are better than the big name restaurant! read more

Got a sandwich Friday for lunch. Had about 11 French fries and hardly any cole slaw. The one side of the sandwich wasn't even on the bread. I used to love going to Bowsers's but since the BBQ menu became a big deal, the sandwiches have gone down hill Our server was phenomenal however and the other servers were all kind. Updating my last review to say the fries are FANTASTIC! Fresh cut and perfectly crispy (not a common thing with fresh cut fries). And the smoked wings (Mondays only) are pretty dang good, too. Surprising BBQ from the place out back. Walked down the road to check them out. Didn't realize they are BEHIND all the other store fronts - entrance and parking behind the building you'll see; go around. You'll know it's there by the amount of cars and two large smokers they got with wood surrounding, not by their unmarked door on the back of the building. First time in, walked around and didn't see a host or sign. Little confused. Walked up the the bar area/where there was a kiosk to pay and stood there. Was busy during dinner time and staff was passing by running food, closing tabs. Bartender asked if I was picking up, stated dine in, was told to pick a seat and someone would be with me. Sure enough, 30 seconds later fella came over and grabbed my drink order as he told me bout the specials. Decided to get their special of the day, which was some smoked shrimp cocktail. Glad I remembered "shrimp cocktail" as when the shrimp was placed before I paused when I felt the cold wet shrimp.. but they were tasty. Got their seasonal sauce (some zingy, sweet taste). Seemed their beers were seasonal, lotsa pumpkin /fall beers, but got a very tasty 10% beer that I hadn't heard of the brewery. (Pumpkin Barrel Ale?) Ordered their brisket fries and man those were tasty. Fries were good, was a little underwhelmed by the bbq flavor and how it seemed to be 4oz Ontop of a pound of fries and had half a plate of fries left without the other toppings, but they were alright. For someone not from the area, walking in and not knowing the seating logistics.. and the bbq to be kinda meh? Meh. Stated bias is I've had great BBQ across Texas, Memphis, and South Carolina. Had an errand to run in Monaca so we searched for a dinner place in the area and this one won out! We were intrigued by the primantis style sandwiches and the bbq. My husband got a plate with brisket and turkey, both of which were good, but the portion was much smaller than we thought it was going to be. Turkey can sometimes end up dry, but that was not the case. The sauces were all pretty good, but the honey mustard and house sauce were our faves. My primantis style sandwich was good, but my complaint was that the meat was all stacked up in the middle of the sandwich so the edges had no meat at all. Just bread and slaw. Walked in to Bowser's this past weekend and felt right at home in the dining room with lots of fun memorabilia and trinkets up on the walls. Staff were very friendly and accommodating of my two young children who required high chairs too. Among all of us we got an order of the pretzel bites, a 3-meat specialty sandwich complete with fries and slaw (not unlike another famous PGH sandwich shop), and a 2-meat plate of brisket and smoked turkey with sides of fries and cream corn. We also got two root beers which are a soda they carry on tap. Pretzel bites were a big hit with the kids and came out nice and fresh with a side of cheese for dipping. The main courses weren't too far behind that either. I was pleased with the generous amount of fries and the fresh and flavorful cream corn! The 2-meat plate wasn't terrible, but the turkey was really dry and required a lot of BBQ sauce, and the portion of brisket seemed rather small, even compared to the turkey. Not sure we really got our money's worth on what should've been the 'star' of the show, but everything still tasted good. The sandwich was OK but I didn't find it particularly special. I stopped in today for lunch and had the grilled cheese with pork and some fries. I got the Jamaican jerk sauce and black and yellow sauce. Everything was delicious. I would definitely order the exact same thing again-down to the barbecue sauce. Both had a kick and were tasty. The service was top notch. They kept asking me if I was ok or needed anything. I stopped in late on a Saturday night and these guys hooked me up with a couple cold IPA's and a great sandwich. They make their own BBQ. The grilled cheese was made in something like a panini press. It has American, provolone, and your choice of meat. I chose pulled pork and it worked great. I washed it down with the cold IPA. I have found the Smokemaster of Western Pennsylvania.... Bowsers has been on my list since moving to Pennsylvania about 8 months ago and I was so glad to finally walk through their doors on a Saturday. They have daily specials and lucky for me Saturday was Smoked Reuben day. I knew from the minute we walked past the outdoor smokehouse in the parking lot that the intoxicating smell of that sweet burning wood was going to bring us something amazing. I was so excited to get my Reuben that I only got one terrible picture before I dove in ( I will be back for the Reuben and I swear I will get the pictures that this Reuben deserves). My Reuben was on good toasted marble rye bread and had a nice smear of russian dressing with fantastic sauerkraut smothering a small pile of the most heavenly smoked pastrami I have ever had. The meat was so juicy and tender with just the right ratio of fat to lean meats. This Reuben had the best smoked flavor that only a true master of the pit could create. I can't say enough about this simple sandwich. I have loved Reubens most all my life and I have eaten them in many different states and different cities and I never would have guessed the best one I have found was here in Beaver County. My wife got the mixed meat plate and this was also another amazing example of the Smokemaster and his fabulous meats. We got a few sides and appetizers to go with this visit and liked all of them. On another visit I got the Smoked Prime Rib sandwich special with horseradish sauce and this too was absolutely delicious. Overall the service has always been very good, the prices are good for what you get because I appreciate the time that has to go into smoking meats perfectly. I have also had a smoked apple cobbler which was awesome, bur I never see it on the menu. I stepped out of my car and smelled the smokers outside and saw someone tending to them and pulling fresh meat off... I knew I was in the right place!!!! Service was friendly and prompt. I got the 2 meat plate with the brisket and turkey with fries and coleslaw. The meat was tender and flavorful. Fell right apart and wasn't tough... perfect BBQ. Loved the selection of sauce. My favorite was the black and yellow (when in PITT, yanno???) also, I'm a ranch connoisseur and theirs was tops (I dipped my fries in it - not my BBQ, calm down... although it was good enough to) I'm also picky with coleslaw and theirs was perfect. Nice and vinegar-y. Had a Dogfish Head Punkin ale. I love that they have the "upcoming" beers that will be on tap listed as well. Really wish I lived closer.
