Didn't have a great experience today and would call Mediterra in Sewickley a bougie bakery at best. Went with my cousin and her 2 little kids for lunch and coffee at 2pm. It was pretty busy and there were only a few tables left. The table we sat at was very shaky and our drinks were splashing all over the place. I asked a server if she could help stabilize the table and she told me "no, sorry. I can't do that." Ok... What?? I don't think that putting something under a table leg is over anyone's pay grade. Our food came out after a while but they forgot to bring out the kids' pb&j's, so I had to ask the person in the front for them. No one apologized for the inconvenience or anything. Love this place - despite its bougie, somewhat pretentious Sewickley vibe. It's pretty inside - kind of NYC cool. Coffee is always good. The sandwiches and "toasts" are always good. I was just in and tried the grilled portobello sammie--- yummo, gooey mozz & a juicy grilled portobello. Arugula adds some spice. No clue what the bread was, but it was obviously fresh and flavorful. It was so crowded - I chose an outdoor seat. Not the greatest choice - cuz the table space is narrow and the sidewalk traffic comes quite close in an effort to squeeze by. I normally order the avocado toast, but i would def get this sandwich again. I got a to-go chicken salad sandwich for my hubs - which the woman at the counter said was her fave. He really enjoyed it. There are not many tables as the place is more like a cafe than sit down brunch place, thus larger parties should come with the expectation of a wait in mind. Food was exceptional. It hit all the criteria I have for good food: original menu items, beautiful presentation, layered flavors, quality cooking. My favorite was the Turkish eggs and Hojicha. I've never had Turkish eggs anywhere else, and I really enjoyed the spicy oil mixed in with Greek yogurt. It did not sound that appetizing but turned out to be amazing. Big fan of hojicha but haven't really found it at other cafes, reminds me of the blue bottle version of hojicha. Will definitely be returning just for the hojicha if I am ever passing by. We came early Saturday morning, and that was the move because we beat the rush and enjoyed so many good things! My salmon toast was huge, delicious, and packed with flavor. There was nice acid from the citrus salmon, a literal pop from the trout roe, crunch from delicious sourdough (I asked for sourdough over pumpernickel) and cucumber, and lovely savory notes from the labneh. It also took up my whole plate!! My wife loved her breakfast of champions. It's traditional breakfast fare, but well done. I got a loaf of sourdough to go. I used to love Mediterra, but lately they are slipping. Over my last 3 visits, I've had an issue each time. Once they didn't make my pickup order because the menu had incorrect info. When I got there, they only made the replacement item for the item that was wrong on the menu, but forgot the rest of my order. They did make it right, by preparing the rest of the items and giving me a few pastries for the HOUR long wait, to pick up my scheduled food order. The next time I went, I ordered in store, and they didn't ring up my entire order, and I wasn't paying attention to the price, so when it came out, I was missing half my food again. Again, they gave me a free pastry. The last time I went, they brought me lukewarm soup. And when I asked for it to be reheated the girl said to me "idk what they can do-- we don't have a microwave back there." The food is great (obsessed with the Turkish eggs), but the quality and service seem to be slipping. read more

Disclaimer, this is solely based off pastries and not the actual food I've gone here 4 times and have never once been disappointed with what I've got The cruffins are always a go to. They have specials on them always. I've had the eggnog, pumpkin and strawberry margarita. The exterior is always cooked to perfection covered in cinnamon sugar and never lacking with filling. If you don't have a large appetite you can easily split with someone Their bread is also really SOLID and grabbed for my family and they all loved. The coffee isn't really knock you out. Stopped by on a Saturday for brunch and the cafe was pretty crowded, but my friend and I were still able to find a seat quickly. The line to order took about 10 minutes but we received our food fairly quickly. We both ordered the shakshuka which was phenomenal. My only complaint was that the dish did not come with bread but we asked the servers and they were more than happy to bring us some bread on the side. Everytime im in the neighborhood, i always visit Mediterra for breakfast. Environment is modern and cozy, good breakfast options, and many pastries (sweet & savory) to choose from. They always have seasonal beverages and daily quiche/soup. It's a great choice either you go by yourself or with a big group. Drinks always taste really good but i think the food could have used some improvement since they could be a bit bland somethimes. If you hate America - please eat here!! After watching dozens of persons become American citizens at a beautiful and moving ceremony- we took our friend to brunch at the Sewickley location. We had a beautifully decorated table with American themed decorations to match our flags and red, white and blue dresses as well as cut off of our current President. After spending hundreds of dollars on food and drinks, a young female worker came over, upset and asked us to remove the Trump cutout. We explained the situation and she insisted we remove it. We immediately did remove him . They then sent workers to our table, every couple of minutes to ask if we were finished. I walked out to my vehicle to take a work call and saw this female worker in the alley crying and having an issue. Several people came over and offered support. While waiting for food we looked around and were impressed by some of the gourmet cheeses that were available for purchase. Half the location is a coffee shop/bakery which we will have to return to try, but we sat at the bar and ordered lunch. I had the Grilled Parma Cotta Ham sandwich that is reminded me of my short time in Italy. In love with the sear on the ham, mozzarella pesto relationship, on sourdough bread. Perfect for a nice light lunch. Originally was nervous about the blood mary which looked like a science experiment, and I have had a bad experience with frozen tomato juice cubes in the past, but was satisfied with brunch cocktail. Nothing to write home about, but nothing to complain about either. My wife ordered their expresso martini, which was one of the better ones she's had (and she gets them almost everywhere). Very creamy but rich with strong coffee flavor. Loved that they used local liqueur from Maggie's Farm which is a distillery we are a fan of. It's a bit small but the crowd moves quick, so as you order your food and drinks, a table will mostly likely be open when you're done ordering. The staff was friendly and welcoming. I didn't notice the brand of coffee they served but nothing great, the variety much like any coffee shop. The food overall was very good but none could be described as great. It's upscale, somewhat pretentious breakfast fare (read $11 avocado toast). We ordered the smoked salmon toast, breakfast Sammie, another sandwich, maybe a BLT, some kind of flat bread and I got the shakshuka. I've had it before in the Middle East and it was pretty good. Okay, to be fair their breads were great, though the pastries were okay, blueberry and maybe peach. Anyway if you're in the area, a great place for coffee and some pretty good food. A couple years ago my husband and I went to Mediterra and got the seasonal caramel apple French toast. I've been dreaming of going back ever since. That French toast was one of the best Ive ever had. Last week we got the strawberry French toast. It was also delicious, though the caramel apple one was more favorite :) The restaurant is super cute inside!
