Just visited tonight with a friend and the customer service was excellent. They were having issues with the cafe portion of the restaurant and could not serve coffee. However the staff were super kind and offered us a free pastry and their olive bread. Both the pastry and bread were delicious and I'll definitely be going back to try more items off their menu! What a lovely cafe and bakery to stop by! Delicious Greek flavors and options, with a staff that's super friendly and a high energy space. It gets rlly crowded and popular here for good reason, so def stick it out and tables move fast, worth the wait! The bread here is just incredible, but the food options are amazing across the board. The roasted eggplant sandwich was the best I ever had, and the hummus was absolutely perfect. The Fredo Cappuccino is a must try, a creamy milk on top that needs to be mixed in, it's got a nice unique texture. Overall it's chaotic and so worth it, one of my favorite cafes around! read more

Anthos is an authentic Greek Bakery & Cafe with everything you could possibly want. I went to Greece on my honeymoon, and this instantly transported me there! They have bakery shelves full of baked goods, desserts, and breads to try! To order, you stand at the counter to place your order and then take a seat for them to deliver your order to you! When my group arrived, there was a long line and many of the tables were taken. My group tried the dip sampler and everything was absolutely delicious. I had the Tsoureki French Toast that was so light yet decadent and complex with flavors. I also got the Loukoumades, Greek donuts. I wish I tried these in Greece and didn't get a chance. They were soft yet crispy. One member of the group got the quiche, which was thick and PACKED with flavor. Absolutely delicious. Another friend got a Croque Madame, which wasn't super special. Overall, this place was absolutely delicious and I cannot wait to try many more of their dishes! read more

Anthos is so worth the 30 min drive from the city! I went late morning on a Saturday and it was busy, but we didn't have a problem getting a table. We sat on the back patio which was lovely and quiet. The food came out pretty fast considering how busy it was! The coffee took the longest because the espresso machine had broken down after we ordered, but they fixed it; it was worth the wait! I got the breakfast sandwich with bacon and avocado and my mind was blown. The brioche bun was so buttery and fresh. I ate it so fast. My friend got the avocado toast and loved it, she said the sourdough was great! We both got pumpkin spice Freddo cappuccinos and loved them; not too sweet, perfectly balanced syrup to coffee ratio! We also got some pastries to go: almond croissant, ginger molasses cookie, chocolate chip walnut cookie, baklava. All were so delicious! Loved Anthos! Tried it for breakfast over the weekend and it did not disappoint. Brought my almost 2 year old son with me and they had high chairs available as well. I got the avocado toast and added eggs and ordered him the kids scrambled eggs and added cheese. Absolutely delicious! He devoured all of it and wanted more. All of their breads and pastries look to die for, I have a nut allergy so I couldn't indulge. The staff was awesome about my allergy and notified the kitchen. My daughter is staunch on her anti- brunch take, so I've only ordered delivery from Anthos... up until now! I had a bit of kiddo-free time, so I decided to trek over to this adorable little place for a bit of "me time". When I arrived, it was super busy! The staff was wonderful, and didn't bat an eyelash about making sure that everyone was taken care of quickly and immaculately. I got a brioche to go, but was starving so I snuck a few bites in while waiting on my sandwich. This was probably my downfall. The sandwich and side of potatoes were gigantic! The sandwich had a heavy amount of eggs and two slices of bacon. I also opted to add avocado. While tasty, I am definitely used to a harder bread being used. The bun was very soft and fluffy, and surprisingly held up pretty well to the heft of the eggs. It was a bit messy, but didn't get soggy as would be expected. The lemony potatoes were delicious. I could have just ordered those and been happy. My caffe freddo was so delicious! I would go back just for one of those. All in all, I'm pretty sure my kid is going to be pretty mad at me when I make her come to brunch with me here soon... read more

Unbelievable experience. I got the spicy feta danish which had creamy feta, béchamel, and spicy roasted tomatoes which were juicy and vibrant in flavor. Best pastry I have EVER had. My friend got the French toast which was so soft and sweet with something that tasted like a date syrup, pistachios, and cherries. Also, the best French toast I have ever had. It took about 25 minutes on a Sunday morning to be served after ordering. To top it all of that, the personalities of the workers are fantastic - such sweet and kind people!!! Wonderful little spot with a vibrant, bustling energy. If you go at peak lunchtime, they'll be a long line. I had the Greek salad and it was amazing! For a starter I shared the Tzatziki and Hummus with my friend and they were excellent. All of the ingredients were very fresh and clean. The pita and bread is so fresh and soft. My only issue was not being from the area, parking is a hassle. They are situated on a corner that's incredibly busy with cars and a train track. It felt unsafe and as if there should be a crossing guard. If you park across the street and train track, there's no crosswalk that is a direct shot to Anthos. That is the only reason I would not go as often. read more

Such a great spot!! Pittsburgh needs more places like this - every single thing we tried was delicious, and there was so much more we wanted to get. From pastries to sandwiches to entrees, I really don't think you could go wrong with anything here. I do really need to recommend their eggs benedict though, which I think may have been one of the best eggs bennys I've ever had - their thyme hollandaise combined with the sautéed mushrooms, crispy prosciutto, and delicious bread was so rich (in a good way) and flavorful! I also tried their feta pie, which was really light and flavorful as well and another item I'd recommend trying! It gets busy (as it should!) but the line moves fast and the food comes out quickly. One thing to be aware of is that you order your food at the counter and then look for a table - it's a small space, so you may need to wait a bit for a table to clear up if you go during peak hours! One thing I realized after we ate is that they had additional seating out back, so that could be an option if it's a nice day. read more

Totally worth the 27-minute drive. We showed up on a busy Saturday and even though it was packed, we only waited about 10 minutes for a table, which was a nice surprise. The coffee was seriously good. The freddo espresso and cappuccinos were both great, and if you're into sweet drinks, definitely try the caramel frappe--it was awesome. I had the raspberry almond pastry and split the avocado toast with egg with my wife. Both were delicious. The pastry was fresh and soft, and the avo toast had the perfect texture--not mushy at all. We also shared the loukoumodes and loved them. Everything we tried was amazing. We've also been on the hunt for good Greek honey since we got back from Greece and found some authentic jars made in Crete to take home with us! Wow! what an amazing cafe. Full disclosure, I first came here for a yelp elite event but I was so blown away I wanted to make a regular review so others can see how great this place is. The owners and staff of this cafe were incredible and clearly love what they do. I spoke with them a bit and they moved here from Greece 4 years ago and opened this adorable cafe 2 years ago. I can't believe I haven't heard of it before, and I have been recommending it to many since! The cafe itself is beautiful, clean, and welcoming. I felt like I was transported to Greece a bit! There are many tables to sit at, and I was pleased to see how busy they were on a Thursday a little before lunch. I tried a coffee and greek bagel. The owner made the coffee for me custom based on my sweetness preference, and it was so good. Somewhat like the whipped coffee trend that was popular a few years ago. I went with the iced version but I'm sure the hot would have been great too. It was very tasty. The bagel (skinny with sesame seeds) is classic greek. It was crunchy and flavorful and delicious. I am sure it would be great as a sandwich as well. Lastly, the owner was kind enough to let me try one of their cookies as well. I went with the chocolate chip with walnuts and WOW. that may have been one of the best cookies I've ever had. I didn't have any snadwhiches but they looked great and I will definitely be trying them next time. First time patron happened to stumble upon this little gem. The owner Jo was the sweetest person ever. Engaging and explaining all of their items and ingredients. I love Anthos! I came at noon on the Friday before the week of Christmas and it was packed! I'm so happy to see they're doing so well. I ordered a ham and Gruyère sandwich on a rosemary loaf and it was delicious. My friend got avocado toast and it was also delicious. They always have good coffee and they were kind enough to make me something not on the menu (a peppermint mocha). I didn't love my pastry, it was a little dry but other than that, a perfect visit to Anthos and I can't wait to go back! read more

This place is pretty packed on the weekends! The space is really trendy and beautiful inside. The staff is really nice and really takes the time to explain what items they have in their pastry case even though it gets really busy. They have a lot of pastries and a menu for food from the kitchen. I just had a pastry and coffee which were excellent but I'd love to try their brunch here sometime. Their pastry case is gorgeous and everything is so fresh. They have so many Greek pastries I haven't seen anywhere in pittsburgh before, including filled donuts and many types of danishes. Their hummus and pita were also homemade and so good! Love that they have homemade soup too. They do have a decent amount of seating inside with a coffee bar. I think there is also seating in the back. Definitely a great place to check out for brunch or lunch! read more

Nice atmosphere at this trendy place. I went just before 10;00 AM on a Thursday, so it wasn't packed (there were only 2-3 people ahead of me waiting for food). My breakfast sandwich took 25 minutes, which seemed excessive. It was good, and large, but not my preferred style. I like a more traditional sandwich on toast. This was more frou frou on brioche with chives on the eggs. I knew what I was ordering, so I'm not complaining, just saying this is a more modern style and not your standard greasy spoon style diner. I only had enough time for a quick stop, but this place left me wanting to return before I even left. Family run greek cafe with a lot of love. The owners were friendly and happy to answer any questions about the menu. All the bread and cookies are baked fresh. Just looking at the case of pastries, sandwiches, and breads was enough to make me drool. I wanted to hand over my entire wallet and say "give me one of everything"! I didn't even get a chance to look at the proper menu because I was too busy staring at the display case of goodies. I got a traditional macchiato and a ham sandwich to share with my husband. The cafe is bright and beautiful with plenty of natural light! I love the counter seating area with beautiful blue and white tiles. There were plenty of tables open, but we went later in the day. I'm guessing it probably gets pretty busy when they first open. I'd want to spend all day working or reading a book here! We will definitely be making a return to this lovely spot! read more
