    Apricot and a blueberry dessert.
    Steven W.

Visiting Pittsburgh, met up with my sister and she took me to Pitaland. It was quite good. A busy little place with a side room where they make the pitas on a conveyor belt. It wasn't operating when we there or I would've snapped a pic. I ordered a lamb burger that came with feta cheese, red onion and garlic mayo on a Lebanese bun. Sis had a tabbouleh bowl and a falafel plate with cherry tomatoes, red onion and pickled turnip with pita bread. She told me that she orders it every time. My burger was yummy. Upon departing my sister bought some tahini and pita bread from the market. I took home and apricot and a blueberry dessert. Very nice lunch. Thanks sis!

Best gyro for your buck! Great counter seating to enjoy delicious food. You order at the cash register and service is promt. Also the pistachio baklava is amazing. This is a such a quant small business with hot food and groceries.

I've wanted to eat here for quite a long time, based upon the reviews. It's located along the Main Street in Brookline, which has numerous other tasty places to eat as well. I walk in to find a nice grocery store in the front with all kinds of options. You also quickly notice the pita conveyor belt with all the puffy pita bread going round and round. I made my way to the back of the store and found two counters. One counter had seating with lots of local folks sitting and standing around talking. The other seemed to be baked good and other items. I stood there reading the food menu. I had two folks in front of me. They stood at the ordering spot waiting for close to 5 minutes for someone to actually take their order. Numerous employees stared at us but none actually walked over or told another person to come take orders. So I recognize and acknowledge the frustration some others have posted about the ordering process. I finally ordered. I selected a small gyro, a Diet Coke and a side of halloumi. I only waited about 10 minutes or slightly less to get my food. Someone called out over a half wall at food prep area and I went over to get my food. Starting with the gyro, it was decent, not tremendous but good. It could use a little more sauce. The side of halloumi was smaller than I expected but was tasty and came with some nice pita bread too. The place has a nice neighborhood vibe where it seems like all the clientele knows each other.

I am visiting Pittsburgh for the weekend, and had to try this restaurant after seeing it on the Yelp Top 100 list for 2023! I got delivery through Seamless to my hotel. The delivery came right on time. Now onto the food! I had the falafel wrap and added feta cheese. It was a lot of food and so affordable! The flavor of the falafel was incredible and the pita wrap was perfect and didn't fall apart at all. If I lived in the area, I would order this again and again! It was that good. I had to meet the delivery minimum, so I also got a dessert. I tried the sweet cheese roll, and really disliked it. Not sure if it was a personal taste thing, but it tasted very soapy to me. I had to throw it out. Next time, I would stick to the savory! I would love to try the flatbreads here before I leave town! I am so happy I got to try this spot. Thanks for the recommendation, Yelp!

Wonderful dinner at Pitaland! We were able to find street parking close to Pitaland. While they didn't have actual tables there was plenty of bar height counter seating available. When we ordered we were asked if we were eating here or to go. Since we ate there they brought our food out to us. All of the food came out hot and fresh. The Grilled Halloumi Cheese was a very delicious appetizer. And the falafel was excellent, fresh and not over cooked. The beef was also very good. There was also tons of pastries and other prepared food like spinach pies and baklava. The grocery area had lots of different foods that are hard to find in a normal grocery store. All of the staff were very friendly and welcoming. They gave great suggestions since it was our first time there. Overall great quality and delicious food for a reasonable price!

Woah - what a find in this funky little strip of Brookline. We wandered in yesterday during the lunch hour, and our mouths dropped open. This is a combo grocery/café kind of place that seems popular in this neighborhood. The shelves are gloriously well stocked with (pretty inexpensive !) spices, rice, tease, coffee, even buckets of tahini, and so much more! It was a feast for the senses! Toward the back of the store was probably the best part. We saw a woman loading shelves with fresh pita bread, including warm, zaatar, spiced, pita. 0MG! There were also barrels of beans and grains. And then a huge counter in the back with meat, and/or veggie stuffed small pastries, stuffed grape leaves, various types of feta, falafel, on and on. We ordered a smattering of everything to sample. The zaatar bread was awesome - so flavorful and generously spiced. We also ordered chicken schwarma wraps which were filled with garlic sauce, shredded lettuce, with a bit of tomato. SO YUM! The Muhammara dip was phenomenal. I just can't say enough good stuff. The sweets cabinet looked like a picture out of magazine - packed with all kinds of homemade baklava & Turkish delight. Such a great experience. Cannot wait to return!!!

    So many treats!

I've heard from a Lebanese colleague for ages that I have to try Pitaland. Given its distance from the city, I waited for ages before finally coming here. Boy did I feel dumb after trying this place! Pitaland is absolutely awesome! The pita is super fresh (they have a little pita factory on site!), and everything else is absolutely delicious. I got a sample platter with baba ghanoush, hummus, and tabouli. The servings were extremely generous, and we had enough for last for another week at home with more pita! I also got the gyro which was juicy and packed full of meat. Highly recommend trying this place and taking a bag or three of the fresh pita home with you!

We ordered takeout from Pitaland and it was pretty good. Food like this is always better to me fresh vs delivery but even as delivery we liked it a lot. We both had Gyros and the pita bread was nice and soft and that thing was packed full! I couldn't believe how much meat was in there, lol. Their fries and baklava were also really nice. Would definitely try again, especially in person.

    Fresh pitas made in house

I came here as part of a food tour on my vacation. This was a first stop and a great way to start. The fresh pitas are made in house and so airy. One was brought out, so hot and fresh. As it cooled, it became the flat shape we are used to seeing. Later I received another with the best hummus I have ever had. The tour continued with a history briefing from the owner about his family and how the restaurant came to be, including a large immigrant loan the owner never expected to receive. I love that it is still family owned and operated. You can tell everyone there enjoys what they do and who they do it with. Also, most pitas all over town, including grocery stores, are made here. How cool is that?! After the tour was over I came back to shop. They carry random candies, have a large deli selection, and a cooler with a great variety of beverages. Everything is priced so well. If ever in the area, definitely stop by here, your palate will thank you.

They made a damn good pita! Fresh bread and tomatoes, crisp lettuce, tzaziki sauce and flavorful gyro make a great pita. Sadly I didn't get any Mediterranean / Greek dessert on my visit but plan to next time. Very nice people too. This place is so good, please check them out!

Love that this spot is a fast causal restaurant and a supermarket. They have really awesome Mediterranean goods in stock here from orange blossom water to semolina by the pound. They also have a good frozen selection too. Definitely check it out if you need Mediterranean groceries that you can't find at a regular grocery store! Service is fast here and I really like how simple the menu is. The food is good and never tastes heavy or unhealthy. Really liked their gyro and chicken pita sandwiches. You can get them in a large or regular sized. It is also really affordable, which is hard to find in pittsburgh these days. They have a really nice dessert case too with many kinds of baklava and rolls. In another case they have things like spinach and cheese pies and chicken pies. They also have a case with different dips and starters too like stuffed grape leaf rolls, babaganoush, and hummus. I did ask for my sauce in my chicken pita sandwich to be on the side due to a food insensitivity and they ended up putting it in the sandwich anyway and charged me for a side of sauce I didn't really want, which was fine. Just note that different sandwiches might have different sauces and look at their online menu for what is exactly in each item.

The food here is just so delicious. Especially the desserts. There is such a wide variety of delicious options you can choose from, so it's tough to say what was best. Honestly you should come here even if all you want is pita and desserts, since they are that good. I ordered the laham ajeen (lamb flatbread), cheese manakeesh (cheese flatbread), cherry pie, sweet cheese pie, and lamb with beef gyro (7"). As I said, all of the food was great. The gyro was relatively standard, but the meat seemed high quality. It was flavorful and tender, with a good amount of vegetables (although too much lettuce for my liking). Great pita! The flatbreads were both quite good. I prefer Samovar's flatbreads (downtown) but these were also tasty. The lamb was very well seasoned and tasty. Great flavor and texture. The cheese flatbread had a fair amount of cheese, and they packaged it very nicely. The bread itself is crunchy on the sides and thin, great for a flatbread. Great portion for price My favorite part of the meal had to be the dessert. The sweet cheese pie was decent, but the texture was a bit off, and the cheese itself was not sweet enough. The dough was great though, and so was the portion for the size. The cherry pie was absolutely incredible (best dessert I've had this year so far). Tons of real cherry inside, and a nice sweet and crunchy outside. Sooo good and a great price. All in all, I can definitely see why this place is in the Top 100 places to visit on Yelp. The place makes delicious food. I especially recommend their cherry (and likely other fruit) pies. The flatbreads were great as well.

    Pita bread galore!

This has been a staple since my childhood. Their pita bread is the absolute best, love it with either hummus or baba ghanoush. You can order from their cafe too. I love the house salad - it has Greek olives, feta and chickpeas. The dressing is to die for! Also, the French fries and sauce are top notch!

This restaurant is located right on E Carson St in the South side. Whenever we entered the restaurant at shortly before noon, we were the only patrons there. As you would expect then we were promptly greeted and given our choice of tables. The inside of this restaurant had a number of tables, murals on the exposed brick wall, a bar and then a display case for some of their baked goods. For lunch on this day I decided to go with the moussaka while my wife went with the falafel sandwich. Since I had ordered an entree, I got a salad while my wife did not and that came out first. It consisted of some heavily dressed lettuce and then a couple of slices of both tomatoes and cucumbers. The dressing had a slight mint flavor which I enjoyed and was refreshing on the salad. I also enjoyed how heavily dressed it was but can imagine others who would not. Once I had finished with the salad the rest of our food came out. My moussaka ended up being decent and I really enjoyed the bechamel on the top. Then while I liked both the meat and eggplant, I wish that there had been a bit of a thicker layer of each as most of the moussaka ended up being bechamel and potato. My wife enjoyed her falafel pita with her favorite part being the crunchy falafel. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. It has been a long time since I have had moussaka and so it definitely hit the spot for me and I would be interested in trying more of their food in the future.

It's got a nice location on the central road in Squirrel Hill, but it's a bit hard to find parking. When I got there, I got to try their shish tawouk (chicken kabob), mujadara, salad with feta, and iced mint tea. The tea was pretty alright. Refreshing and a nice mint flavor; I think they might make the blend in house. They also brought out some nice pita before we started the meal. For my main course, I ordered the shish tawouk. You usually get this meal with the rice pilaf, but they were out, so I got to try the mujadara. I'm actually quite glad! The chicken was tender, and the portion was very fair. They served it with a nice tomato sauce, but I also asked for some garlic sauce on the side. The sauces both seem to be homemade, and definitely go well with the chicken. The mujadara was surprisingly delicious. They top the dish with crispy sweet onions. It's a mix of lentils and some other grain. Very good! One thing to mention generally is this place closes quite early, usually around 8 or 8:30 PM, so do keep it in mind. It is also very clearly a family endeavor, with the mom managing most of the tables and the kids always helping out. Very nice place!
