Chicken shawarma sandwich
Jill H.

This little family owned and operated spot serves absolutely perfect food. The last two times we dined here, we ordered the exact same thing, and our server (the owners' daughter--who is so great and efficient, working the whole front of house by herself) remembered us and our order. Falafel sandwich--delicious, crispy, perfect falafel, but I order it as much for the homemade pickles and turnips in there as I do for the falafel. The thing is huge, by the way. Two people could share it but I never do. Chicken shawarma is also great. The house salad is fresh and cold and loaded with finely grated feta--I forgot to take a pic before we shoved it in our faces. A small one is plenty to share. You're going to be full--the portions are plentiful, but don't sleep on the rice pudding anyway. Suck it up--you don't find subtly sweet rice pudding like this every day, lightly touched with orange blossom water and rose water. Just go for it; let them shake some cinnamon on there for you and get to it. Next time, I'm ordering the mujadarra. I saw it come out of the kitchen today and it looked amazing, topped with tons of frizzled onions. Two diners next to us had the lamb shank and I watched them both pull out the perfectly clean bone. And finally, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the iced mint tea, because I literally went to Kabob-G tonight because I was in the mood for that tea. Icy cold, not *too* strongly minty, and perfectly refreshing, it's a nice complement to a terrific meal. Never had a bad experience here.

Fatoush Salad, large portion $8

About as authentic as you can get in the South Hills. Family owned and operated - Kabob is sure to knock your socks off. Tiny restaurant, which accepts reservations - BYOB. Large portions, flavorful food, and reasonable prices make this place a real hidden secret. The parking is behind the building - the T runs directly in front of the restaurant.

Lamb chops

Delicious!! My lamp chops was a perfect medium and it was still hot when I got it. The hummus was good too and they gave lots of pita bread. Everything was great! Definitely a must try for people!!

We went on a Tuesday evening and there was only one server but they did a great job handling the dinner rush. The walnut baklava was the best I've ever had! This restaurant is located right on E Carson St in the South side. Whenever we entered the restaurant at shortly before noon, we were the only patrons there. As you would expect then we were promptly greeted and given our choice of tables. The inside of this restaurant had a number of tables, murals on the exposed brick wall, a bar and then a display case for some of their baked goods. For lunch on this day I decided to go with the moussaka while my wife went with the falafel sandwich. Since I had ordered an entree, I got a salad while my wife did not and that came out first. It consisted of some heavily dressed lettuce and then a couple of slices of both tomatoes and cucumbers. The dressing had a slight mint flavor which I enjoyed and was refreshing on the salad. I also enjoyed how heavily dressed it was but can imagine others who would not. Once I had finished with the salad the rest of our food came out. My moussaka ended up being decent and I really enjoyed the bechamel on the top. Then while I liked both the meat and eggplant, I wish that there had been a bit of a thicker layer of each as most of the moussaka ended up being bechamel and potato. My wife enjoyed her falafel pita with her favorite part being the crunchy falafel. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. It has been a long time since I have had moussaka and so it definitely hit the spot for me and I would be interested in trying more of their food in the future.

Very nice Mediterranean restaurant. I visited this place on the day before Mother's Day, and it was…read moresurprisingly not super packed. It's got a nice location on the central road in Squirrel Hill, but it's a bit hard to find parking. When I got there, I got to try their shish tawouk (chicken kabob), mujadara, salad with feta, and iced mint tea. The tea was pretty alright. Refreshing and a nice mint flavor; I think they might make the blend in house. They also brought out some nice pita before we started the meal. For my main course, I ordered the shish tawouk. You usually get this meal with the rice pilaf, but they were out, so I got to try the mujadara. I'm actually quite glad! The chicken was tender, and the portion was very fair. They served it with a nice tomato sauce, but I also asked for some garlic sauce on the side. The sauces both seem to be homemade, and definitely go well with the chicken. The mujadara was surprisingly delicious. They top the dish with crispy sweet onions. It's a mix of lentils and some other grain. Very good! One thing to mention generally is this place closes quite early, usually around 8 or 8:30 PM, so do keep it in mind. It is also very clearly a family endeavor, with the mom managing most of the tables and the kids always helping out. Very nice place!

The menu lists many meat, seafood, and vegetarian options, and the chefs can accommodate customers on gluten-free and vegan diets. Examples of menu items are lentil soup, babaghanoush, falafel, shepherd salad, lamb chops, many kebabs, sea bass, sautés, house-made desserts such as baklava, and non-alcoholic beverages. My husband and I ate one lunch here. Indoor and covered outdoor seating was available. The employees promptly greeted and seated us, and I appreciated that they recommended specific menu items to help me choose. After a reasonable wait, the foods were brought to our table. Here are my ratings for what we ordered: Grilled Shrimp - 5 stars - Several large, juicy shrimp were on skewers and had been perfectly cooked. Sides were mixed vegetables and a mix of rice and bulgur. Chicken Shish Kebab - 4 stars - The chunks of chicken were large and juicy and had a mild seasoning. On the side was rice pilav. Turkish Tea - 4.5 stars - This black tea was a good size and was served hot. Packets of sweeteners were available. The total price was $55 plus tax and tip.

Falafel appetizer was very, very hard and chewy. Even with a serrated knife it was difficult to cut! Shepherd Salad was fresh but was mostly red and green bell peppers. Very little tomato or cucumber or onion which I was expecting. Not their fault but mine for not knowing about this salad. Again they were super nice and offered to take it back. Donor Kebab was over cooked. Dry. Chewy. Tzatziki sauce was fine. I ordered two extra mini-cups of tzatziki to help me finish the donor kebab. (Extra $1). Bread was very good. I ordered the Turkish Tea but it never came : (
