Kosher restaurants usually have to be graded on a curve, especially in this case because you only have two options in Pittsburgh. Staff are friendly and accommodating, including of little children. Their hours are apparently unreliable -- sometimes they are just not open -- but we were in luck and our dinner reservation worked out. The restaurant is classy looking, and food is presented in an attractive and stylish fashion. The big hit here seems to be the sushi; my spicy salmon was quite good. There are a lot of specialty rolls that are really expensive, but again, where is a kosher eater going to get sushi otherwise? The shakshuka was heavy on a traditional spice that my mom didn't care for by my wife did, so that seems to be a recommend. The cod cakes were almost all bread filler, with fish flavoring. The soup of the day, a New England fish chowder, was not creamy, so the title seemed a misnomer. The Caesar dressing for salad was not to my tastes, but it is homemade. It may seem strange to me for lacking a key ingredient - Worcester sauce - which my wife suspects doesn't come kosher. My daughter devoured the special cheese ravioli; they were more like pierogis, but clearly very tasty. We will definitely hit this restaurant with my orthodox family again, and I will focus on sushi next time. That may lead to a higher-starred review when I do.

The food was very good, the owners are passionate. Atmosphere a little chaotic and cramped.

Split the steak sandwich and pastrami burger with a friend and we loved them both.

As far as the food goes, our pacing was a little bit off as we had some long gaps between dishes, but we really enjoyed the sushi, small plates and the entree sized dishes across the board. The stand out to me was the fatty tuna special. Service was friendly, and although it was a bit pricey, I think we got good value for the meal and service we were provided.

I've been meaning to come since it opened. I was finally able to get a seat on a Tuesday night and got a reservation just earlier that day. So that's probably your best bet. Seating is pretty limited. You'll likely be seated at the counter and able to watch as the staff makes the food and drinks. I had different types of sushi, every piece was fresh and delicious. I also tried the street noodles which was a nice carb to have. I got it to share but I do think it's a bit small, I would've been able to finish that and more on my own lol. I very much enjoyed the cocktails. You can tell they were intently crafted. The hospitality was top-notch. Was seated right away, there was a lot of communication, and presentation was fantastic. Just great staff all around. If it's not clear yet, this place is definitely worth your time

They catered an International Women's Day event for us last year and did a great job, and I've also been in several times on my own. When it's good, it's really good--but there is some inconsistency. I've ordered the same items on different visits and had days where it was excellent and other days where it was just so-so. My hope (and assumption) is that as staff gets more fully trained and gains experience, the quality will become more consistent. The space itself is very cute, and don't be fooled by how small it looks when you walk in--there's an upstairs and a back patio, which is a nice surprise. Pricing is a bit high for what you get, but that's pretty standard for Lawrenceville/Penn Ave. Overall, I'm glad this place exists and I'll continue to support it. With a little more consistency, it could be a standout neighborhood favorite.
