They served it with a nice tomato sauce, but I also asked for some garlic sauce on the side. The sauces both seem to be homemade, and definitely go well with the chicken. The mujadara was surprisingly delicious. They top the dish with crispy sweet onions. It's a mix of lentils and some other grain. Very good! One thing to mention generally is this place closes quite early, usually around 8 or 8:30 PM, so do keep it in mind. We were confused as to where the actual restaurant was. There is a sign on Route 8, so we parked there, looked around, walked downstairs, only to find it was offices. We then walked upstairs and found that the entrance was actually on the other side of the building but accessible from the front. It's an interesting place when you walk in. We were quickly greeted and seated. It seemed as though the owner and family were working. The menu was interesting, not real large but sufficient. We had, who I believe is the owner, come to our table and ask what we typically like to eat and then she was making suggestions. We thought she was just being helpful. My wife finally looked at her and said, I'm sorry are you also taking flour order now? She replied well that's what I was trying to do. To me that was a little off putting. The boiled potatoes were not anything special so I would pass if offered another chance. Sorry, grandmother! The main dish was also not very fresh and the Lamb tasted a little gamey. The "complementary" vegetable with the meal was green beans, which were very soggy and overcooked. Similarly, the rice tasted like it had been sitting around and prepared days ago. I also found two hairs on my plate. For $50, I would've expected a little bit more other than some interesting stories of how he used to work for Jackie O. But the worker who was sitting in the dining room and doing his own belching contest certainly added to the ambience as he was organizing the cutlery. Now I can understand why the place was so empty. I had planned to go to gaucho's down the block, but the wait was 30 minutes. Next time I will go to gaucho's instead.
