Such a great establishment in Ambridge! Their food is delicious and the vibe is so chill. Plenty of tables and the right atmosphere to work remote. Decor is modern and sleek. Love all the band merch on the walls! I haven't found too many spots around Pittsburgh that can do GREAT biscuits and gravy. I'm from the south so this B&G are an absolute favorite breakfast of mine. Merchant does this one so so good! Service was quick and friendly! I'm glad we live just across the river and can make this a regular stop. read more

Merchant Coffee is a super cute and cozy coffee shop in Ambridge. Though we don't get to ambridge super frequently for food, my husband was about to fly out for a week of work and we wanted a quick little date before he left. This was a great place for that! We got a breakfast burrito, a smoothie, and a hot chocolate to share (we aren't actually coffee drinkers, but we love the vibe of coffeeshops) I wouldn't say anything we got was life changing, but it was still good! I feel like it's a common theme for us that coffeeshops don't make great hot chocolate. I get it, not the specialty, but I want chocolatey hot chocolate! Not milky! We brought our two year old with us since it was a last minute decision to stop in and they had no high chairs (just an fyi) they did have a large bookshelf of games and he was easily entertained and stayed in his chair to play connect four. Stopped in with my wife and young son prior to heading to the airport. Street parking was easy to find, and them restaurant has enough seating without being too crowded. We ordered a smoothie and biscuits and gravy to share. Both items came out quickly and food and drink tasted pretty good. While the food was good, the portions were small and the price was a little high so it wasn't quite a value proposition. The restaurant has a bookshelf with a variety of games and so we had fun passing the time playing Connect 4 with our young son too. read more

My first visit here. Well decorated inside Varied menu with coffees, breakfast & lunch items. Plenty of seating. Nice large window view onto Merchant St. Street parking out front. Cool artwork inside. 2 Gender neutral restrooms, which were clean & fresh smelling. Worth a stop for coffee/breakfast/lunch. I returned to Merchant Coffee and enjoyed their shrimp cauliflower flatbread - it was amazing! Highly recommend it's vegan. I had a really nice afternoon here working on my laptop. I got a lot done and was able to be comfortable and productive here. The staff is always sooo nice! read more

I stopped by here earlier today with my wife and kids for our morning coffees. This was like the 5th or 6th time we had been to Merchant Coffee, so you know we like it. On this Sunday morning the inside was sort of quiet compared to other Sundays where the place was hopping. The inside of this shop is actually quite large with lots of seating and a large mural. Beyond that they have a small enclosed outdoor seating area with 5 4-tops including a few with umbrellas. With our young kids, it's the perfect place for our whole family to hang out. For our coffees on this morning I went with a large maple brown sugar latte while my wife went with a small one. On previous visits I have also always ordered their seasonal flavors with things like carrot cake shaken espresso, honey lattes and more. Their coffee is always good and I really enjoy their seasonal flavors which pack tons of flavor without too much sweetness. My maple brown sugar latte on this morning was the perfect example of that as you could get the maple up front and the brown sugar on the back and yet somehow it wasn't overly sweet. While the coffee wasn't too prevalent in the flavor, you could definitely get the undertones of it. On this particular visit we also ordered Beaver Bagels which were delicious but on previous trips we had ordered other pastries too which are always good. The bottom line for me is that we will clearly stop by here again in the future. My wife and I love their seasonal flavors for their coffees and think they offer a nice array of food as well. read more

Super cute coffee shop on a main street in Ambridge! The building itself is gorgeous, but the road and sidewalk out front was unfortunately undergoing some construction when I visited. They have a temporary walkway built to get inside. The space is decorated beautifully with comfortable lighting, cute decor, and lots of seating. I saw at least 10 tables that seat both two and four people. There were a couple high tops and some window bar seating available, as well. I ordered a medium (12ox) drip coffee with a splash of half and half. The drip was Commonplace's house blend and it was a smooth medium roast. The menu listed the 12oz drip at $2.50, but I paid $4.50 + tax and tip. Not sure if the menu is outdated or not - just wanted to mention. They have a case of assorted pastries and some jars of biscotti too. Everything looked delicious. It was nice and quiet inside, even with a few people dining in and several coming in and out. I would certainly considering working remotely here in the future. read more

Yesterday I stopped in for a small coffee after stopping in Rite Aid (to see their fraud of marked up liquidation prices-what a joke) that is across the street -because I hadn't had my morning coffee. It was between 12-1pm. I got a drip coffee w cream only to go. I didn't want an espresso at this hr. It was very hot outside. In my car on way out of Ambridge to home I took a swig. Yikes! It tasted sour, like maybe the coffee was old. I took another sip and still sour tasting. I called and spoke to someone that told me to come back. I said I could come back tomorrow, and she said she would be working. I only wanted a credit for what I paid toward another new coffee. Forgive me for not knowing her name. This time I ordered a small Cafe Au Lait. She wanted to make it right so she asked me to wait 5 min assuming to make a fresh pot of drip coffee. Another very hot day outside. I took it to go. It was a 12 oz and she did not charge me. It was worth the wait and was one of the best hot coffees I've ever had. She certainly made it right and the excellent customer service was appreciated! I will definitely return. It's such a nice coffee shop in our little town! read more
