Such a cute & cozy coffee shop! I went for the first time on a double date recently. We arrived at 11 am on a Saturday and I was surprised to find it wasn't busy at all. This was good for us though because we were able to snag a table for 4 tucked away in the back! I love the loft-style layout. I got a hot cookie butter latte with oat milk and it was delish! My fiancé got an iced Irish cream latte with oat milk and enjoyed it! We both got the Western breakfast sandwich and loved it (it is very messy though lol). On the way out I got a Berry Necessary smoothie, and I liked it but felt like there was just a tad too much orange juice in it. Overall this is such a perfect spot to chat with friends for hours on end!
Ample seating in a cute and cozy coffee shop. The shop can get lousy - due to acoustics- not much can be done about that. Despite that I found it a comfortable working spot. I got a green machine smoothie and it was very good. Great value for the price.
I love the coffee here. I got the Lavendar honey latte. Highly recommend. Business is LGBTQ+ friendly and sells local business products. WiFi is available but space is somewhat limited. Street parking only

Fantastic service, super tasty coffee, and very comfortable interior. Even little desks in the back to work on! Great stuff.

Located on California Avenue in Brighton Heights, just a short trip from the North Side, California Coffee Bar is the cutest little neighborhood shop. It's stocked with delicious bagels, sandwiches, smoothies, milkshakes, bowls, coffee, and other tasty drinks. The vibe is warm and welcoming, with a well-designed interior and plenty of tables if you want to dine in. You can walk in to order, place your order online for pickup, or even get delivery--super convenient! The staff is incredibly friendly and sweet, making the experience even better. I tried a Blueberry Coffee Cake latte from their seasonal menu, and it tasted exactly like a fresh blueberry coffee cake--so good! I also had an Asiago bagel with cream cheese, which was fresh and satisfying. And the Acai Power Bowl was a highlight: a blended purée of frozen acai juice, Greek yogurt, and banana, topped with granola, berries, and dark chocolate shavings. It was both delightful and healthy. You really can't go wrong here. Whether you're stopping in for a cozy coffee or grabbing a bite to go, California Coffee Bar is a neighborhood gem worth visiting.

We agreed the acai powerbowl was an uplifting way to begin the day, and my Chai tea latte tasted so comforting. We happened to both choose the turkey Asiago bagel sandwich, which has plenty of meat and a really delicious sauce. Afternoon snack was a small hot chocolate with whipped cream for me and more coffee for her. There's free wifi, tables and couches, and wall plugs, plus music and fun art on the walls. The staff were very friendly and can help you pick something off the extensive menu. Don't omit to check out the small gift shop behind the central kitchen island!
Stopped here on a Saturday morning before doing some shopping in McCandless. This place has a charming neighborhood feel with a well designed interior that includes plenty of tables if you're interested in getting some work done while enjoying your drink and pastries. I ordered a latte and a breakfast bagel, both of which were excellent. I especially appreciated the loft seating area which provides a nice view of the cafe area below. it is so interesting to watch the baristas perform their craft, whipping up a wide variety of drinks and snacks. Definitely recommend if you are in the area and looking for a solid independent coffee shop.
Visited California Coffee Bar for the first time and wow! This is one of the cutest local coffee & breakfast places. They had a great menu, fast & friendly service, and a ton of seating. Our food was delicious! I regret not trying one of their smoothies. We will certainly be returning to this hidden gem!
This is a great coffee shop. Food and drinks are very reasonably priced and the space is very large with ample room for larger groups. The staff is extremely friendly, also. I recommend the blueberry latte. The bagels could use some improvement here. But overall the food is a great bargain! They could scrap 1-2 of the front tables and establish formal space for standing in line to order and waiting for food to make the experience a little smoother. I was dodging folks left and right while waiting for my food.
So glad I found California Coffee Bar. It was so easy to get to and to park. I got a cold brew with oat milk-done perfectly! Got a turkey sandwich too. Really very tasty and unique! They have smoothies and food and such a comfortable atmosphere. I think I could take a nap there! The folks there are also very nice, patient and helpful. You must give it a try!

Our sandwiches were also very good! This is a great little bar/breakfast bar in the northside! Will definitely be back to try some other menu items!
Cute cafe with coffee, smoothies, and great food options too at a good price! The staff was very nice and quick, coffee was also good. The Western sandwich was stacked high and the chipotle mayo really made it stand out, would absolutely recommend! read more

California Coffee Bar is a nice little coffee shop in Brighton Heights just off of the Ohio River Boulevard. It's got nice coffeehouse vibes to it and serves a great selection of coffees, smoothies, and sandwiches. I'd gotten the Denny's Fruit Bowl. Ingredients and the cream and honey mixed in were all very fresh and tasted great. (I had it to go and leveled it up with cinnamon, nutmeg and protein powder, but I promise there was nothing wrong with it as it was made!) The matcha latte was also refreshing. The women behind the counter were nice so no service issues. I'd love to try a breakfast sandwich next time. Good little place, worth swinging by (street parking only, FYI) read more
I would definitely come back here! I got the açaí power bowl and turkey Asiago bagel and both were super delicious! The prices were great and the quality of food was also amazing. It all felt very fresh. The service was also great, the people working there were very nice. I also loved their decorations and the vibes in the restaurant. Overall 10/10! read more

Found this place on a whim when I was searching for a place to grab some food and work on my laptop. I was pleasantly surprised by the back area seating area, which was a little more cozy and quiet than the front part. The baristas were friendly and warm, and the food was *amazing*. I got the green machine and the açaí powerbowl. The presentation was 100% as was the taste. Highly recommend! read more

Such a hidden gem! My boyfriend and I have been trying for weeks to find a new go to breakfast place that was healthy but still delicious. We had several failed attempts and then by the grace of God found California coffee bar! The restaurant itself is adorable. It's comfortable and airy and there's lot of funky art to look at. Ingredients are obviously fresh and you watch them make your food. Service was fun and friendly and very quick! I loved the fruit yogurt and honey bowl. Tasty and filling. My bagel was toasted to perfection as well. I got a peppermint iced coffee that was not overwhelming but still have me the boost I needed. This is becoming our Sunday staple! read more

Turning into a routine after my morning shop at Tom Friday's a few doors down. Friendly staff. Moderately simple menu. Nice space. No smoke and mirrors beyond a quality coffee offering but especially like that they have Saigon cinnamon sitting out with their sugars. read more

Detailed Review: Western breakfast sandwich: 3/5 I got this to go and I think it would have been better in house. The moisture kind of got to it so it was a bit messy. Oat milk latte: 3/5 Didn't grab a picture of this one but it was your average iced latte. Was a little bit nutty in flavor which was confusing considering I got oat milk but it wasn't bad. Overall a very cute place all I'll definitely be trying it out again. read more
I usually don't eat breakfast in the morning, but there some days when it's a necessity. Being vegan makes the choices small in Pittsburgh, but I was so happy to learn about a spot, in Brighton Heights, near my office and right off of Rt. 65 which makes it really convenient on busy mornings. I walked in and was in awe of the offerings available for breakfast and lunch. Coffee, smoothies, pastries, sandwiches, and a lot more. I was looking for oatmeal, which by the way isn't available just anywhere...smh...I ordered a Caramel Latte, vegan, oatmeal, and a breakfast sandwich, also vegan, and.....they have vegan cheese people!!!!! They didn't have an alternative for eggs, but I'm hopeful they will soon. I also had a delicous Raspberry cookie, I think it's called a Linzer, but don't quote me. There is seating indoor and outdoors, and the area is really pretty and quiet. The one thing that was a little annoying was that I wasn't greeted at all, and actually stood at the counter while the four people behind the counter were working, and I was the only customer in the store for a few minutes. A simple hi and we'll be with you in a moment would have been nice, but I won't hold that against them. The food was excellent, and the Latte delicous! Go check them out and be overwhelmed by all of the great choices. You can thank me later. read more

Very nice coffee & tea house. I was in the mood for an açaí bowl and I had gotten the recommendation to come to the California Coffee Bar. The place is big and has plenty of seating. The staff where super friendly and helpful. I had a açaí bowl and it was totally delicious. I would definitely go back again. If you are in the area it is worth a stop. read more
I walked in to this cute shop that's deceivingly large on the inside and ordered a breakfast bagel (The Western) and a latte with their special syrup of the month (blueberry vanilla). We ate at one of their outdoor tables and had a very pleasant time! I also got a raspberry liner type of cookie to go but ended up eating that immediately. The service was pretty quick for a busy morning and I ran into to hitches along the way. read more

This morning like many days I ordered a breakfast sandwich to go. Instead of waiting because the mornings are busy I usually call the order in ahead. This is my favorite coffee shop to date and I have had 88 check ins!! I stopped and picked up my order this morning and when I got to work and opened up my bag I realized theres only HALF a sandwich in there?! (see picture) Immediately irritated I called and was told all the ingredients are there but many were saying there was too much bread.. so they are only using one piece of bread now? WHAT!???????? I will now have to ask for a whole 2 pieces of bread!??? This is crazy!! This isn't a half a sandwich and soup deal? This was a "sandwich". Not a nice thing to do to your customers and a regular yet!??? So disappointing. I have been a fan for a long time and service is good and prices are above average but I am still a fan.. because of the quality of food and service. This is the place I take new employees from work and have introduced friends too. I had to let my fellow yelpers know.. to make sure you ask for a full two pieces of bread when ordering a sandwich. I am sad this morning to even be writing this review. I feel completely let down. VERY disappointed this morning.. this is my "go to" several days a week. I will no longer be recommending. read more
