We stopped at this cafe quickly on our way out of Pittsburgh. It's a charming little coffee shop, but keep in mind food is not really a big thing here, so if you're looking for a bite, adjust expectations accordingly. They had some light pastries when I was there but there's no sandwiches, salads, etc. This is truly a coffee shop! I loved the colorful vibes and the coffee cups hanging from the ceiling. No complaints here about my vanilla latte! I'm not sure if they own/operate it, but tremendous kudos for the public community food pantry outside in the parking lot. I hope that helps many people in need in their neighborhood.

I love coming to Garden Cafe! It has a community centered feel. When you arrive, you'll find a community fridge out back available to any who need it. Inside, you'll find a cozy ambiance with quirky decor and some art for sale as well as some flyers advertising local events. Service is always fast and friendly, with the option to order inside or at their takeout window. My marshmallow latte was sweet and satisfying and paired nicely with my flakey chocolate croissant.

I stopped by here this past Sunday with my wife. We were looking on Yelp for a new place to try for our morning coffee whenever I found the Garden Cafe and so we headed on over. It is located right on the corner of Spring Garden and Chestnut streets and has its own parking lot behind the building on Spring Garden. After we had parked and walked around to the front of the building, we were greeted at a window we could order from. Due to this, we didn't go inside, but you were welcome to if you had a mask on like we did. After looking over the menu I ultimately ordered a large latte while my wife went with a small drip coffee. We were also ordering for her parents and so added on a small mocha and a small hot chocolate as well. It was then that I also noticed that they had gingerbread muffins which I pointed out to my wife since she loves gingerbread. So that got added onto the order as well. It took maybe 5 or 6 minutes for our 4 drinks and the muffin to be ready and we were quickly on our way back home. Once I was able to taste my coffee, I was pleased with it. It was milk forward with a nice flavor to it due to the coffee coming through in the background. My wife also enjoyed her drip coffee but thought that the gingerbread muffin was just ok and nothing amazing. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. Even though my wife wasn't a huge fan of her muffin, we both really enjoyed the coffee.

What a charming little coffee shop! I'm sad to admit I haven't spent as much time here as I should as a fellow Northsider, but that will be changing. The owners/baristas are so friendly and personable. You can tell they have a lot of regulars. Some details I really appreciated here include the "pick your own" basket of mugs (love a fun mug), the quirky art on the walls and lots of plants. Coffee is La Prima which is always a win. They have some tasty pepperoni rolls for sale in addition to some lunch sandwiches, salads and pastries. Unfortunately there are only 2 tables inside but luckily it wasn't busy when I came in. It seems like a lot of people visit the takeaway window which would be nice if you're just strolling by, and they do have additional tables outside. TLDR: Worth the visit!

Delicious coffee and chai latte! Almost already gone!

Enjoyed a nice Saturday pit stop here. I remember when this cafe was known as kaffehaus, same location. Same nice parking lot (huge added bonus). Cute little patio area for seating. You can order at the window or go inside and order. Service was quick and amazing.

Savory hand pie, blueberry scone and coffee (poured into my favorite mug, of course).

Stopped by the garden cafe on the way home from the gym this morning. Quick & friendly service. I had a drip coffee! It was great- hit the spot for a long day! Excited to try the treats next time! Also they have a parking lot- woo woo!

Food at the Gardens Cafe, yum!

Great neighborhood stop...excellent coffee (I drink it black), and the hand-pies are excellent. Always consistently good. There's parking in the back, if you can't walk down.

Hanging outside the (very safe) Garden Cafe!

Great, hidden cafe on the North Shore! A go to for coffees and pastries. And, no need to fight the crowds on the Strip.

After walking around the neighborhood, this one had seating, so we went inside. First, I'll say the coffee we tried was pretty good - a cappuccino and a brown sugar cinnamon latte. The barista asked "for here or to go" and the drinks still came in a paper cup anyway despite us saying "for here". I really enjoy having a coffee in an actual glass/mug when I say "for here". The ambiance was a bit confusing... not really sure what they were going for in the space, things were a bit choppy and thrown together. Kinda felt like you were in someone's garage with cluttered items on rickety shelves behind the counter. Our barista was very nice, but an awkward moment occurred when they were ringing us up - barista asked for a tip but then told us not to put the tip on the credit card because the owner steals from them. We felt this was a little uncomfortable and gave some unwelcoming energy. We also tried a Nutella croissant, which was very good! I think this shop has a lot of potential with some changes to service and decor.

LOVED our dinner at this place…read more We came here for dinner while visiting Pittsburgh. The first thing that struck me was the interior decor. Very industrial and moody with an open kitchen/preparation area that adds some intrigue. I do like to see the happenings of what's going on as someone with zero attention span. Service was excellent. George was fantastic. He kept a close eye on us without being overbearing. He anticipated what we might need so we didn't spend one second waiting to order anything. The menu is not endless or overwhelming which, presumably, allows them to focus on the items that are listed. I have decision panic so it was kinda nice to have less things to choose from. They asked if there were any allergies or dietary restrictions so I mentioned my vegetarianism. George went through the menu and pointed out the vegetarian options including what seems like it is vegetarian but isn't. They had TWO vegetarian entree options and fortunately the non-mushroom one was something I probably would have ordered anyway: pesto with walnuts, arugula, and a very generous amount of grated cheese. To start, I ordered the Brussels sprouts whichc I was warned had fish sauce. This was fine but nothing that blew me away. GF, on the other hand, loved this. GF ordered the wedge which was brought to our attention as vegetarian with the bacon on the side, which was her request. We ended up sharing both, a large part of that was because hers came out first and I couldn't wait but I'm so glad because the wege was FANTASTIC. The dressing? holy fuck pure ecastasy. The wedge was more like a filet shape which was much easier to eat. Who decided on the wedge shape anyway? The lettuce was so fresh and crisp and went wonderfully with that orgasmic dressing and breadcrumbs. Back to my pasta. Also delectable. Noodles were al dente. The sauce was creamy and packed that pesto umami flavor. The walnuts were a really nice contrast in texture. Everything about it absolutely fucking slapped. GF ordered the mushroom entree which came served on a bed of barley which, don't mind if I do, had a few forkfuls to "sample" for "my review". Again, so fucking good. Because it was my birthday, George provided a dessert (yuzu maybe?) that was served inside a meringue-esque igloo, creamy perfect balance of sweet and tart custard with some berry business underneath. Wonderful. I almost forgot their spectacular cocktails! Holy shit, literally they have a CORN CHIP cocktail that I could not pass up. It comes with two massive cornchips on top of a flavored foam. When you bring the glass up to sip, the cornchips are right in front of your nose and their aroma sets the stage for the drink which was STRONG. It wasn't as corn chip forward as I expected but I understand that flavor is probaly hard to create. For my second drink, I ordered the blue one which was refreshing, light, and really good. GF ordered a spritz which was gorgeous "it was good". For second round, I picked out some uranium thing that was very cucumbery, GF says, "it was good". I just read it outloud to her. "it's true!" Fantastic meal at a great place.
