    Breakfast sandwich

Went for breakfast with a friend. I loved the English muffin on this sandwich, the everything seasoning was perfect!! I did however burn the roof of my mouth but it was worth it. Then I got a matcha with vanilla and I really enjoyed it. My friend liked their cold brew as well. We lucked out and got a table.

I had a wonderful time at De Fer when I recently visited. They have some of the best coffee in the city and for $5 I got a really delicious medium roast of drip coffee with unlimited refills. It was perfect for the 2-3 hours I spent coworking there. The space upstairs is really nice for working as it's quiet and away from all the hubbub downstairs.

I loved coworking from this local coffee! We visited the location in the strip, which was so aesthetically pleasing. There were great outdoor seating options and plenty of seating indoors too. They have a little local goods shop corner that I really enjoyed perusing. I also adored the local prints in the bathroom with frames for sale. They had two gender neutral single restrooms. Their seasonal drinks here are so creative and delicious. I'm blanking on the names of what we ordered, but my coworker got a very sweet refreshing strawberry drink. I ordered a fizzy shrub syrup drink. They were perfect for the hot PGH day. We quickly found a table and were able to connect to their wifi. This is a great coffee shop to meet up with a friend or get some work done.

You should definitely come here if you are taking a walk along the strip district or if you're looking for a place to study. There is nice seating and the vibes are really great if you want to lock in, meet with a friend, or just hang out. The service was also great, I felt like the staff was really friendly. Also, the drinks were great! My friend got a coffee and I got this butterfly pea flower lemonade, which was absolutely beautiful and tasted really good

Iced matcha latté + chocolate chip cookie

I met up with a girlfriend at De Fer, and it was a great choice. The menu is full of options for coffee and tea lovers, and there is a great assortment of baked goods that are made in-house as well. Or, if cocktails are more your thing, De Fer also serves cocktails in the evening. I went with an iced vanilla matcha latté, and it was delicious. It wasn't overly sweet, and the matcha was very well made. However, my chocolate chip cookie was a bit lacking in flavor which was a little disappointing. Overall, I would absolutely come back to De Fer. It is quite the popular spot for those working remotely, especially on a nice day when there is an option to sit outside. Give De Fer a try if you're craving coffee in the Strip!

Little on the expensive side for what you get. Not a lot of flavor options for lattes. Great pour over options though. There is a wide variety of beans to purchase as well as baked snacks. Service was friendly and quick!

I went on a Sunday late morning before a nearby yoga class and it was packed! There was a line almost to the door. Despite this, the service was relatively quick once we got to the front of the line. I got a matcha latte with lavender iced which was great.

A spacious, open-concept cafe with plenty of tables and seats, including the main ground floor and some more seating on the second level. Still, it can get crowded, when I came on a Saturday evening, for example. I got the seasonal Gingersnap Latte, which was fine, along with the Hummus Wrap that was ok. Also got a tiramisu, which surprisingly doesn't have eggs in it, but it was a little too heavy and rich for me. Overall, a good, popular cafe, right in the heart of the Strip District, to meet people or do work.

Hipster coffee shop keeping the Strip District of Pittsburgh alive on a Saturday Night! Nice meeting Nick and the crew! Stop by for coffee, cocktails, tea, wine or beer. Food includes vegan options. Great spot. The upstairs area caters to those working or looking for a quieter ambiance. Don't miss the art downstairs! I had a seasonal latte and a delightful glass of French bubbly . Nick told me that in the summer they open the garage door for live music! Can't wait! Welcome to the neighborhood.

Beautiful open space with lots of small trinkets & coffee items sold on the side wall, good range of food and cool flavors- I got the matcha colada and my bud Jyang got the Pina colada cold brew. Matcha was pretty mild in flavor but I liked the colada foam. Seating is nice, but theres a ton of people moving in and out so it gets a bit loud at times. Seating is always volatile, if you come during busy hours it will be packed. We got here around 9:30am and it was pretty ok. Fast wifi, better for dates and to yap than to do work imo but got the job done.

I got the ginger snap iced latte ($7). They made the drink in about 7 minutes and it emphasized more on the coffee side. You could taste the coffee more with a small hint of sweet ginger. It definitely more of a sippie latte but had great caffeine to it. Staff were very nice and gave recommendations . The inside was quite nice and had a good amount of seats for a sit down. Overall a very solid coffee shop in the strip district. I would come back again. Drink (50%): 8.3 Staff/service(25%): 8.0 Value(25%): 7.0 Overall: 8.2/10

Always love De Fer! Their coffee is amazing and so obviously their drinks are delicious too. Love that they make all of their own syrups! One of my favorite food items is the breakfast panini - it is seriously so good. It's made on homeade everything seasoned English muffin & it has a great crunch. The creamy miso chili crispy sauce on it is to die to! I recently tried one of their smoothie (blueberry almond banana) and it was delicious! The vibe of the cafe is amazing and always super busy. All of the staff is really friendly. They have a great happy hour and several cocktails, wine and beer too.

The bar serves cocktails, wines, beers, and mocktails. For dinner and late-night bites, the restaurant focuses mostly on small plates and shareables, including charcuterie, chicken wings, pizzetta, steak, and salmon. They also have a Sunday brunch that serves lox bagel, shrimp and grits, French toast, mimosa, bloody Mary, etcetera. My husband and I ate one lunch here. The best aspect of The Finch was its beautiful views of downtown Pittsburgh's skyscrapers, Monongahela River, and subway trains. The foods and drink were a mixture of quality, and my husband called them "garbage" (eek!). Here are my ratings for them. Berry Mint Spritz - 4 stars - This mocktail (I could have ordered it with alcohol to turn it into a cocktail) contained strawberries, mint, lemon, syrup, and soda water. All of the flavor had settled on the bottom of the glass, so I could have used a straw to mix the drink, but I did enjoy the flavors. Summer Crab Cakes - 2 stars - I received two crab cakes, and they were some of the worst crab cakes that I have ever received anywhere. They contained too much breading and too little meat. I did not even like the flavor of the cherry tomatoes on the side. I usually love crab cakes, but with these ones, I could take only a couple of bites, and then I had the waitress throw away the rest. Hawaiian Pizzetta - 4 stars - This small pizza consisted of four slices that had cheese but no gooey cheese-pull. Other toppings were BBQ sauce drizzle, pineapple, ham, and red pepper. I thought that it tasted good. Ember Steak Skewers - 4 stars - My husband said that the steak was not the highest quality. At least the chunks of steak, peppers, onions, and mushroom (we counted one piece of mushroom!) were marinated and seasoned nicely. The total cost for this one mocktail, three foods, and one soda was $79 *plus* a 3% credit-card surcharge, tax, and a minimum tip of 18%. We asked the waitress for a receipt, but she did not bring us one, so we walked up to her to ask for it again, and we did receive it.

I've heard so many mixed things that I have to say I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed every aspect of my experience. It kind of has dive bar vibes but the food and drink options are definitely on the elevated side. They open at 4 on Sundays and I got there around 4:15. It was already pretty busy (and by the time I was leaving, every single table and bar stool were occupied). They have standard booth seats along the windows, hightop tables in the middle and bar seating along the bar that curves along the back of the restaurant. I chose to sit at the bar since I was by myself. I was promptly greeted by the bartender. They don't hand you copies of the menu, you have to scan the QR code to access. It is easy to read and follow with sections for drinks, specials (this time they were Wicked themed as a nod to the show at the Benedum) and a sushi section. I ordered the street corn dip. The chips were a bit overcooked and the dip was just OK. I thought it was pricey for what you got. The star of my meal, though, was the patty melt. It had the burger, a bacon jam, caramelized onions and was absolutely delicious! It was served with fries. I considered ordering sushi but wasn't sure what to expect. The patrons sitting on either side of my ordered rolls and they were a nice size and looked delicious, so that is something I would consider ordering in the future. It was a place I'll likely be back to because of the proximity to the theater (although their prices definitely reflect that). Just note how crowded it always is and give yourself plenty of time if you plan on heading here for dinner before the show.
