My wife and I went out to diner the other night. I was in the mood for Italian so we decided to try somewhere different. We decided on Severina as it was close and had good reviews. I like to eat early and we got there just after it opened and it was already crowded. They asked if we had a reservation unfortunately we did not even think to do so. The server said we could sit at the bar which was fine. The waitress and service overall was fantastic. I ordered chicken parm and it came with spaghetti. They also served a salad and rice balls and bread. The rice balls where very good as well as the salad. The chicken opera was just ok nothing special at all. I would recommend this place as the service was excellent. I am not sure I would go again, But maybe. We tried to order takeout for dinner but was told they only do take out for lunch so instead we just got some desserts to go. The man behind the counter making coffee and "helping" us was generally unpleasant. Seemed annoyed that we were even there asking questions, didn't smile, and the other employees didn't acknowledge us at all. We got 3 different slices of desserts from the case and it's was $28. I will say we enjoyed the desserts but with that price and the negative interaction, probably won't be back. read more

I've been driving by this place for a couple years now driving to and from a friend's house and finally got to check it out this Saturday. First off, I am SO glad we made a reservation. I knew this place always looked crowded when I drove by, but I had no idea. There was barely any room for us to walk up to the counter to tell them we were here for our reservation. The place is tiny and everyone wants to be there. The whole vibe reminded me of being in Italy. Don't go there if you're in a rush though! The food was so good! We ordered arancini for an appetizer and it may have been the best arancini we've ever had. Their red sauce is perfect, the crisp on the fry, the cheese - chef's kiss! So good. For meals, we ordered chicken parm and bolognese. We were both so happy with our meals! The meals also come with a side salad that comes out beforehand and even the dressing was delicious. They also give you bread and butter when you sit down. We had some drinks while we were there too. We both got a cocktail and the house montepulciano - all was very good. As far as service - everyone was BUSY! Our food did take a pretty long time to come out, so I repeat - don't go if you're in a rush. Overall though, there was always staff walking by that you could flag down if you needed anything. Our water was always full, our cocktails were fairly quick (considering the crowd), and the wine was at our table almost immediately. From service to food, what a wonderful experience. We arrived with a party of 4 on a Saturday evening with no reservations. The staff worked to accommodate us with very little waiting. Our waiter was attentive and offered us great recommendations on what we had to try on the menu. Every dish we had was perfect. Great family owned restaurant, with a small footprint, making a lot of good things happen. The food is just amazing. I had the scallops and they were cooked perfectly, with a perfect side of risotto. Others had pasta, and it looked just beautiful. We also had apps including stuffed peppers, arancini balls, and a cheese and prosciutto platter. Those did not disappoint either. The desserts were equally delicious. Had some of the cheesecake and this incredible cappuccino tort. I still have daydreams about both of them. So why only four stars? well, the service is just really slow. Like if I wasn't surrounded by great friends, I'm pretty sure this would would have *really* bothered me. Don't get me wrong, everyone there was working their butts off, but everything was a 10 to 15 minute wait. From just getting menus and water, to our wine and drink orders, to getting apps and food. I'd say the meal took ~ 2.5 hours. That all said, it was a Friday night. The place was packed. And through it all, the staff was so polite and upbeat. So will I go back? Yes, definitely. Phenomenal. This place was PACKED (for good reason) on the Saturday night my family went, but they were able to fit us. My dad, who is the most picky Italian food eater alive, said the sausage & pepper pasta he had was the best he's eaten since his Nani's -- that's huge praise. The chef clearly knows what he's doing. I had a roasted red pepper pasta with chicken that was delicious as well, and my mom loved her bolognese. Make sure to get dessert too! They make all of the desserts in-house and you can tell. The cannoli was fresh, just the right level of sweet and flaky. We also had some of their homemade gelato that melted in your mouth. Cannot recommend more. read more

Excellent genuine Italian restaurant. We dropped in on a Friday and were quickly seated. The dinning area is small, a little cramped. There is outdoor seating for the summer time, which, had it been in season we would have most likely elected to sit outside. Mid January, the dinning area was chilly and I am usually one to not wear a jacket coat. We both just settled on domestic beers to drink. From the time we arrived until food was on the table was roughly one hour. Food was excellent. We ordered a pizza, half pepperoni and half sausage, a Mushroom and black truffle pasta, and a caesar salad with chicken. The pizza had the perfect crust and did not disappoint. The pasta was done very nicely. We got 4 desserts to go. I definitely recommend the cheesecake! Overall we were happy with our visit and plan to return once the patio opens back up. read more

Moved to the area and noticed this place on the side of the road. Saw their red umbrellas and thought it looked super cute so we made plans to go one day. We got there right at opening and entered on the pastry counter side. The waiter asked if we had reservations and seemed to give us a weird look at the fact we did not. However, their demeanor changed after we were sat and began ordering. The seating inside is small and can get fairly loud, I'd recommend sitting outside. The table was given bread and oil and we ordered seasonal scallop dish, seasonal steak dish, one pasta dish and one pizza. The food was amazing. I had the scallops which was oddly topped with apple but paired so well. My friend had the pizza and said it was amazing. We skipped on desserts but those looks amazing too. From the fresh bread to start, to apps like mussels, arancini, and the creamy whipped ricotta, and entrees and pizzas that are out this world. All amazing! I recommend making a reservation but there has always been seats available when I've gone. The space is always buzzing with people drinking wine and outstanding spritzes (so perfect for summer). And the dessert case is always jam packed with authentic and innovative Italian favorites (sfogietelle, cannoli, blood orange tiramisu, oh my) and freshly made gelato. They even got us in with only a short wait for Valentines Day without a reservation and it was packed. You can tell the food is 100 % authentic. They never brought our table bread and the service was slow bringing our orders out. Those things I can overlook but what got me was the ink wasn't even dry on the $300 bill when the waitress rushed over and told us she needs our table for the next reservation, in so many words telling us to get the hell out. We all just looked at each other in disbelief. What a rude way to end the evening. My book club had a reservation for our Christmas outing in December, but unfortunately, we had to cancel when someone got the flu. I called to reschedule our reservation and the person on the phone said it was fine and he'd move it. he didn't take my information, but I assumed he already had it from the initial reservation. It was super busy and we were told to wait for about 10 minutes. No big deal but they seated us outside and there was only one waiter who was swamped. It took about 20 minutes for our drinks after he threw our place setting down tin the middle of the table. The bread came out on a teacup plate. He said he'd bring more later but never did. They don't do pizza for dinner anymore so we all ordered some sort of pasta. It was just ok. Nothing I would go back for and portions were small. No one asked to refill our drinks. A Mixed Bag: Great Food, Disappointing Service I've dined at this quaint, family-owned Italian restaurant four times over the past few years, drawn back each time by the quality of the food, which is consistently excellent--thoughtfully prepared, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The cozy atmosphere and charm of the space hint at a dining experience that should be something special. However, each visit has been marred by the same set of service-related frustrations. The service is often indifferent at best, with staff seeming annoyed, especially toward those who aren't recognized as regulars. There's a notable inconsistency in the way diners are treated--some patrons receive warm, attentive service and menu suggestions, while others are overlooked. Menu publishing is another ongoing issue. On more than one occasion, the full menu wasn't available or not finalized when we were seated, causing confusion and delays both in ordering and in the kitchen. Compounding this, not all listed menu items are consistently offered to all guests--I've witnessed neighboring tables being offered specials or off-menu dishes that were never mentioned to mine. Also, apparently pizza is only available for dine-in during lunch although it is available for take out during dinner hours. Our table seriously considered placing an on-line takeout order for pizza as we witnessed many being picked up after waiting nearly an hour for our entrees. It's frustrating, because the food is worth returning for. But the experience as a whole feels unwelcoming and uneven unless you're part of the in-crowd. I genuinely want to love this place, and I've given it multiple chances, but the pattern of disparate treatment is hard to ignore. Here's hoping the owners will eventually bring the quality of hospitality up to the same level as the food. read more
