After several visits, we've found that while the focaccia and pizza are good, the rest of the menu hasn't stood out. We've tried different dishes each time, but nothing has really impressed us. Only item I wouldn't get again is anything pesto since I prefer a more creamy sauce, and theirs was more garlic and oil. Everything is fine -- just not remarkable -- and there are more affordable Italian restaurants that offer better overall quality. I wouldn't say the ambiance was intimate as the tables are pretty close together and the overall space is small. Service was standard. read more

We really tried to go here yesterday but their website was misleading and incomplete as to the waitlist. We weren't at home so used our phone to search waitlist options about twenty minutes before our anticipated arrival giving us the option to go elsewhere if wait would be too long. It said the waitlist was closed and that we should proceed to the restaurant. When we arrived they were filled up with a two hour wait. We were told that we should have called or checked the waitlist options on a computer as it doesn't work on a phone. Why would we be told to proceed to the restaurant? Makes no sense. The restaurant looked nice and the aroma was nice so we will try again. Meanwhile I would hope that they can get their act together and fix the waitlist options or take reservations. read more

Nice new place. It is small about 6 tables and 6 seats at the bar. Interesting wall art. Nice wine list with Italian wines. Service was good. We started with the Focaccia. Some interesting choices on sauces to go with the Focaccia. Enjoyed the Calabrian Chili Oil but the Sunday sauce was wonderful. Then had the rigatoni with Santino's Sunday Sauce. Several neighbors recommended this Italian restaurant which has expanded from the pizza shop next-door to a full service restaurant run by the same people . The food was good the staff friendly and helpful. This new Italian restaurant just opened in Carnegie, and is located next to Slice on Broadway and the Wine and Spirits Shop. I believe this was formerly a bar called Nazcar's, and the space has been totally refurbished into a nice little Italian restaurant and bar. I stopped in for lunch today, and ordered the Fried Zucchini Appetizer, and a Margherita Pizza. The zucchini was a nice portion, breaded and fried, served with a lemon wedge, and a side of red sauce. The pizza was eight slices, and was Romano style which has a very thin, cracker-like crust. I enjoyed the zucchini and the pizza, both were good. My friend and I finally had the time to visit Lucatino for dinner this past week. They have a waitlist option, in lieu of reservations, and we joined about 5 mins prior to walking in the door. The waitlist indicated 0 min wait, but 5 parties ahead of us. We were greeted upon entry, checked in on the wait list, and told it would be a few minutes. We waited about 15 mins for our table. The restaurant is small, loud, and pretty crowded. They have the tables spaced pretty closely together to maximize the amounts of diners they can accommodate. This makes it difficult to get in and out of booth seating. Our waitress was friendly, but clearly strapped for time. We saw her infrequently over the course of our meal. The food and drinks came out quickly, though, and were delicious. The pizza had a much thinner crust than either of us had ever imaged. It was tasty? though, and super light. Even though we ate a full bread flight and the pizza, we didn't feel stuffed. We thought about ordering dessert from their non-permanent rotating menu, but we waited over 15-20 mins for the server to come back and at that point we were ready to go. It's a cute place, maybe for a girl dinner, but it's so loud that you're yelling to have a conversation. The service was pleasant, but not fast. Parking is along the street out front or across the street in a paid lot. read more

Delicious focaccia bread with lots of dip options, personally I enjoy just the plain bread the most but the whipped ricotta was really good with it too. The house chopped salad was good and the dressing was tasty. I got the vodka rigatoni with chicken but the chicken was just piled on top, would've been nice if it was mixed in the sauce. Everything was pretty mid unfortunately aside from the focaccia which was very good. We got a mix of a few things. The "family size" portion looked identical to the personal portion. The pasta itself was not homemade, probably just a fancy dried bronze cut. As for the sauces, very underwhelming. Chicken piccata was ok; overcooked. The vodka sauce was decent, probably best of the variety we got. The aglio e olio was utterly flavorless. The beans and greens pasta was unbalanced. The escarole bitterness overpowered anything else in that dish. For maybe a few bucks more you can go to D'anoias and much, MUCH better food.. I might go back and get one of the focaccia sandwiches, that's all. Service was excellent also, FWIW. read more

They don't take reservations but they maintain a waiting list on their website. It was very busy when we got there at 5:30 PM on Tuesday night. Of the four appetizers: The Greens and Beans had sand in them; presumably from not cleaning the kale properly; we could not even eat them. The fried zucchini was tasteless and dry/overdone (marinara sauce however, was excellent). The foccacia very light, airy, but tasteless, as well, the dipping oils. This is a VERY loud Resturant with very loud music playing. At our request server lowered volume but it increased shortly thereafter so patrons increased their volume as well. Food was good but not exceptional. Had the pesto sauce that needed more sauce with grilled chicken that came as breaded fried ( also on dry side). Zucchini appetizer was as expected. A group of six of us went for dinner. Very small inside, a little noisy. We all enjoyed our food however and the service was wonderful. It did get a little stuffy inside, even though they have the door propped open. I hope that they have air-conditioning for the summertime. I really wanted to like it here but my 1st impression was the miserable bartender who didn't smile or greet us. We sat at the bar to eat which could have been a pleasant experience but she barely looked at us. I don't know if she's a relative or what, but she should not be dealing with customers. Lucatino is an absolute gem. From the moment we walked in, the restaurant felt warm, cozy, and incredibly clean. The staff were outstanding, attentive, polite, and genuinely welcoming, which made the entire experience even better. The food was phenomenal. The focaccia was hands down the best I have ever had. Perfectly fresh and flavorful. The veal and peppers were to die for, and the beans and greens, oh my gosh, absolutely incredible. Even the salad was fresh and perfectly done. Honestly, we tried what felt like half the menu and every single dish was amazing. As a very Italian family, we can be pretty particular about our food, and Lucatino absolutely gets our full approval. We will definitely be back. read more

Ambiance is good. Packs em in about 5pm. We went there about 4pm and there were a few tables at the ready. I had the veal parm and the wife had the veal piccata. The veal was tasty and cooked just right. The parm comes with one veal and piccata comes with two??? Overall not a one and done. We will come back to try either sandwiches or pizza. The two dishes we tried were good just not amazing for $28-$29. The piccata sauce needs a little more flavor and the parm should have two veal IMO. For a place 2.5 weeks new I think they did well. read more

My boyfriend and I came in last week for lunch and the bartender (Genevive T from what our receipt said) waited on us. We were so turned off because the whole time she was talking about her dogs bowel movements and how she doesn't have energy to go downstairs because she's too bloated. Loved the physical appearance of the place, our waiter was friendly and helpful, and our food and drinks were delicious. My only disappointment was that no bread was served with our meals. Maybe because focaccia is all over the menu I assumed, wrongly, that the usual plate of bread and oil would be served too, as it is in many restaurants. Went for lunch and the food was delicious!!! The greens and beans are the tastiest we've ever had! We are a "heavy on the sauce" kind of people but the Puttanesca pasta was only tossed in the sauce but was still spectacular. Service was friendly and accommodating. We were disappointed that all dishes are served a la carte. For the price of the entrees, it would be nice if bread or salad would be included. The price for two entrees, one salad, one appetizer, bread and two soft drinks cost us $95 (including tip) for LUNCH!
