Loved our lunch at DiAnoia's. The ambiance is inviting as soon as you enter: an attractive bar, cool casual artsy decor that calls to mind a bright Italian cafe; and plenty of seating options. For lunch you order at the deli counter, and there are so many excellent options to choose from (particularly pasta and sandwiches). Portions are very generous, so two people could easily share one sandwich, one pasta dish (but we happily ordered a couple so that we could try different things). Highly recommend the Italian sub and the veal Parmesan sandwich! Service was friendly and easy. Wish I lived in Pittsburgh or I would go back all the time!
diAnoia's absolutely lived up to the hype! The restaurant was hopping, but the service was warm, attentive, and never missed a beat. The whipped ricotta with lemon and crostini was a perfect start, the butter bean salad with cucumber and tomato was unbelievably fresh and outstanding, and the Caprese panzanella was beautifully balanced with incredible seasonal flavor. You can taste the quality in every bite. We can't wait to come back!
Such a live restaurant! This place is always so busy and can be hard to get a reservation so if you plan to go do it early in advance! The staff were very polite! I tried the Gnocchi Sorrentina Bread Bowl and added the meatball! Lots of sauce and lots of cheese that's for sure! It was an interesting taste! I wipe say a bit overwhelming trying to figure out how to eat it! I would definitely go back here and would Probably want to try something different!

The food here is the real deal. Dishes that you would never think would taste amazing based on their simplicity were the STAR of the show! Pasta with simple ingredients like tomatoes & basil was a top favorite. Soup with beans and Italian sausage was great. Everyone left here stuffed. The tiramisu and steak was just alright, but the atmosphere with the decor and small feel was beyond perfect to make you feel like you were in a little place in Italy.
Heard this place had the best Italian in the city. It did not disappoint. My wife and I were seated on the second level, which I felt like removed us from the energetic and vibing atmosphere on the first level. But honestly, we didn't come for the atmosphere, we came for the food. The bread and oil was fresh. The gnocchis are huge giant pillows, but still go down light. The scampi was super flavorful. The tiramisu had great flavor. All the employees went out of their way to make sure we had an enjoyable experience. We will look forward to coming here again!
Friday dinner here while in town for the weekend. I had originally made a reservation for 10 just in case the baseball game ran over, but received a call that earlier times had opened up. We moved the reservation to 9 and came there shortly before. To start, we ordered the bread and whipped ricotta, as well as the brussel sprouts. The bread was massive and the whipped ricotta was a nice touch. The brussel sprouts were also good - served with a sweet glaze and thick cubed pork belly. For my entree I ordered the gnocchi and meatballs which was incredibly large. The gnocchi were the size of rectangular pillowed donut holes. They almost were the same size as the meatballs. The sauce was also nicely seasoned and had a good flavor. I also added a half size of the cacio e Pepe. Easily one of the top 5 places I have had this dish. The sauce was perfectly flavored with pepper, plenty of sauce so it didn't stick to the pasta and become just a clumped mess - and the right size. For dessert I ordered the berry brown butter pastry. This was a perfect size and packed great flavor. Multi-leveled but still bright while being rich. I liked this place - can be loud, but they also have outdoor seating. My only wish would be that you could order pizza from Davide which is attached to the back of this location.
Located near The Strip and only a half block from the bus stop. Lovely two story with dining areas on both levels. Beautifully decorated to look like you are eating in Italy. Friendly servers. Nice wine selection with very decent prices. They give you fresh bread and a small plate of olive oil with balsamic drizzle to dip the bread. That was delicious. Would have been five stars except my Stuffed Shells were served slightly warm ish. But they tasted good. Would have been fabulous if it was served hot and fresh. Their homemade meatballs are good but a little too dense. We ordered a glass of Super Tuscan and a glass of Cab Sav. The Cab Sav was delicious. Ended the meal with tiramisu for my birthday. This place is so cool looking and much bigger than I realized from the outside. We showed up early Saturday evening and they seated the four of us upstairs. It was so nice. Theres even a cute little balcony overlooking the downstairs and Im a sucker for theming. Our server was very helpful creating a vegan dish for my husband but alas the creamy mushroom sauce won him over. I tasted it. It was amazing! The kids menus came with crayons and a very nice create your own pasta for kids with seasonal veggies. The kids cookies looked huge and delicious too as an add on. The free bread service was nice but I think we saw the paid upgrade version and it looked amazing. So if we ever go with a bigger party we will definitely be doing that. It is a bit pricey so dinner there is definitely a nice treat and not a weekly thing for us My only note is that I wish there was a salad with the entree.
We came as a group of ten to celebrate Mother's Day for my wife, Mother-in-law, and Sister-in-law. There is both a downstairs and an upstairs as seating areas. The place has a clean Italian look. We started out with bread and oil, greens and beans, asparagus. For meals we all ordered some type of pasta. You can't miss on any of the pasta dishes. I along with others, had gnocchi. Others had spaghetti, shrimp scampi, and lasagna. The service was really good. Mila and her team did a great job taking care of us.
The sandwiches were amazing. We ordered the Italiano and the Prosciutto, and both were heavily loaded with meats. The flavors were incredible. We were mostly quiet while eating because it was that good. I also loved their decaf iced latte. As for service, the cashier and food runners were friendly and brought our meals directly to the table. There are plenty of indoor tables, and the noise level is comfortable. This spot is in the Strip District, so parking can be tricky and hard to find. But we got lucky and found parking about a block away. The key is to come early, around the time when most people are still getting up.
My first restaurant since moving to Pittsburgh! We went on a Friday night and the restaurant was packed. We waited about an hour for our food which was kind of frustrating but they were absolutely slammed. Our server even brought us a second plate of bread and oil to make up for it (which we appreciated)! The food was worth the wait! Loved heirloom pasta and gnocchi w/ meatballs were delicious as well!! We also got tiramisu for dessert (not pictured) yeah, no. The mascarpone was dense and I believe they used cake instead of the ladyfingers. It genuinely pretty bad and I wouldn't get it again which sucked because tiramisu is my go to dessert (also pretty pricey for the portion we got). At that said, I will be back to try other dishes! read more
People really hyped this place up, so I was excited to finally try it. The atmosphere is really cute, and I'm glad I made a reservation because it got super busy, even on a Thursday. Our waitress, Emily, was wonderful and so kind. The bread was good, but I wish it had been served hot. I also wasn't a huge fan of it sitting directly in the olive oil and vinegar like that. The gnocchi was one of the best I've ever had. The texture was incredible. I also got the short rib pasta, which was just okay. The meat was very tender, but the overall flavors didn't really stand out to me. The portions are definitely huge, though! We also got the Caesar salad, and the dressing was really good, but the shishito peppers were almost soggy, which took away from the dish a bit. Really good spot for a date! read more

I had been looking forward to this dinner for a while. The place is so cute and the menu has some delicious looking dishes. The bread with whipped ricotta was the star of the meal. Fresh, hot and satisfying. The cocktails were average and my Hugo spritz was unimpressive. No fresh mint. Where are things really took a turn was on the steak Florentine. Not only did it take an exceptionally long time to reach our table, but it was completely overcooked. Very disappointing for the first time at this restaurant. The server noted he could replace it, but it would take a long time so he offered to comp us dessert which was appreciated. On a positive note, the Genovese alla Paccheri was tasty. If I were to try the restaurant again, I would probably get that dish. We took dessert to go. The tiramisu was solid. We also got a blackberry tart, which was probably the best thing and the Italian rainbow cookie, which was dry. As far as the interior of the restaurant, it is a really cute vibe. It was a hot and humid evening and all of the windows were open so the restaurant got quite hot so it was a bit uncomfortable. Parking was a challenge, but that's to be expected at the strip. We might give this spot another try, but I feel like there are so many better restaurants. read more

I came for lunch this past Saturday and wanted to update my review as the ordering process was different since my last review. For lunch, you order your food at the counter. You are provided a number and take a seat wherever you'd like. Shortly after I received my drink (prosecco) and food. I ordered the eggplant parm sandwich. It was so good and wasn't heavy like most eggplant parm sandwiches are. I ate every last bite! The restaurant was moderately busy but we didn't have a problem finding a seat or getting our food in a timely manner. I will definitely be back! read more

We scored the last table here at 6 o'clock on a week night after an early show at the Pittsburgh Winery. Many different menu items and drinks sound good, but we ended on the winter vegetable carpaccio (pretty to look at and tastes good), gnocchi and meatballs (both are huge), and white beans and hot sausage (salty). The focaccia in oil was yummy. I liked my Elisir di Mora cocktail, but hubby said his vanilla grapefruit Italian soda was better before all the ice in it melted. Staff are nice. It's loud inside, but when it's nice there are tables outside. $100 including tip for two people. We didn't get dessert and had leftovers. read more

My fiancé and I had had a date night at DiAnoias recently, it was our first time there! We went on a Thursday night. I made the reservation a month ahead of time, and the only time slots available were after 8 pm. I knew it was popular but I wasn't expecting that! We don't usually eat that late, but it was well worth it. The service was great, and everything came out fast and it was all super fresh! What we got: Gnocchi Pumpkin Bowl - I had been wanting to try this for years, and it was everything I'd dreamed it would be! It was rich and creamy, the pumpkin flavor in the sauce wasn't overpowering, and it was so cheesy! Simply incredible! Gnocchi & Meatballs - my fiancé's dish. Gnocchi is his fav pasta and he loved this! We loved how big the gnocchi is here. -Also I got 1 meatball on the side of my dish bc it sounded so good and it was amazing! Roasted cauliflower with pesto - the only way I want to eat cauliflower from now on! This was perfect (we were also in desperate need of some veggies lol) complimentary bread - fresh and tasty! We could've had 3 plates of that alone Rose Spritz - light and refreshing, just what I needed It was such a satisfying meal and the leftovers were just as good the next day. One of my favorite seasonal dishes in Pittsburgh is the gnocchi pumpkin bowl at DiAnoia's so much so that I made a reservation specifically for this dish well over a month in advance. The reservation was for 6 people at 3pm on Sunday afternoon. When I got there and gave them my name there was some confusion and they couldn't find my reservation for a minute but then they sorted it out. The inside isn't super big and has a dining room area and a bar. There is an upstairs event space I haven't been in yet. There's just something about the pumpkin cream and pillowy gnocchi with fragrant basil that's perfect for fall. Of course I sampled all of my friend's other dishes as well and they were all superb, especially the porchetta and the tiramisu! read more

Absolutely soooooo worth the hype! I came to try the autumn special- the homemade gnocchi in a whole roasted pumpkin. It not only looks amazing but is soooooo tasty! Pumpkin and gnocchi and cheese and all. I ordered a side meatball bc it's their signature and I'm glad I did. It came with a side of red sauce and I can see why they're so popular. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about my first visit to DiAnoia's. It absolutely lives up to the hype. A member of our party found that they had mixed up the dates on the reservation, but DiAnoia's was able to accommodate us day-of, even though it was a Saturday night. Their staff were so friendly and understanding. We started off with a round of cocktails and the meat and cheese tray. The aged gouda was fantastic, but others also remarked on the peppercorn Asiago. The meats were also delightful. Bread with oil and balsamic vinegar was also brought out around the same time, and we couldn't get enough of it. We each ordered a different pasta dish, and they were all so good that we almost didn't share with each other. I went with the bread bowl with gnocchi, and it was phenomenal. The sauce is like an even better, even cheesier vodka sauce. You will absolutely have leftovers because the portions are huge. The pork pasta dish was also delicious, but I truly could not get enough of the gnocchi. We finished our visit with an Amari flight and an order of some of the more popular dessert options like the tiramisu and zeppole. The citrus flavor in the zeppole was delightful and not overpowering, and the tiramisu was not overly sugary. We also ordered the chocolate pine nut cake, which was a wonderful blend of textures and flavors while not being too rich. While the space is somewhat small and loud, you will be so immersed in the delicious food and drinks. If you're in the strip (or honestly, even if you're not), grab a res at DiAnoia's! read more

My boyfriend and I went here in October. We had to book the reservation weeks in advance, so we were excited when it finally came. The food was very underwhelming. Our server insisted we get the meatballs, but they were just fine. The squash and ricotta and the tiramisu were the best things we had. I realize it's a busy restaurant, but the tables were so close together that it felt like we were having a big family dinner with the tables next to us. Loved our server. He helped guide us into which bottle of wine we'd all be better off splitting. But omg the cheese pull in our bread bowls!!! So good. Favorite place to take friends when they come to town! Need a reservation usually unless you come at a weird hour. Outdoor seating is nice and consists of a couple tables. They have a rotating, seasonal menu and the heirloom tomato pasta in the summertime is incredible read more
DiAnoia's is always excellent, their pasta is reasonably priced and the bread and whipped ricotta is one of my favorite bread services. The ambiance is not my favorite, it tends to get really loud and you feel like you're eating with other people there. read more

My friend had a reservation at 9 but the other person cancelled so I was a last minute sub! We showed up at 8 and asked if we could get seated early and they told us maybe. We went to coop for a drink first and then came back and were seated at about 8:45. We got the starting bread (don't know the name sorry) and it's extra $$ but totally worth it. We both got the ghocchi with meatballs. The portion size was perfect I ate my entire meal my friend took some of hers to go. Finished it off with tiramisu (not pictured). After coming here for the first time, I understand why it's so hard to get a reservation! This place is to die for, the best Italian food in Pittsburgh. We sat upstairs, which provides a nice, quiet setting, while downstairs is a bit louder in an open air room. Started with the fresh baked bread and added the whipped ricotta. Our bread seemed a little bit flatter than others, most had a bubble. The outside crust was airy while the interior had a browned bottom and crunch with the garlic olive oil on top. Mixed with the ricotta, this was the perfect app. Both pasta dishes were delicious, with the gnocchi being the favorite. Each were like clouds in your mouth, just melting when they hit your tongue. Paired with a hearty meatball and sauce, it was hard to stop eating. The veal cutlet was a great last second add on and worth every penny - crispy, flavorful and fresh. Make that reservation two weeks in advance! You won't regret it. read more
