We stopped by while walking around the Strip District looking for a quick lunch. During lunch service, you order at the kiosk, find a seat, and clean up after yourself, which makes for a casual and easy experience. Food: The tomato sauce here is probably some of the best red sauce I've had in a long time. We ordered the Caprese Panzanella, meatballs, crispy potatoes, and spaghetti with red sauce. Everything was delicious, but the salad completely stole the show for me. It was packed with fresh ingredients, bright flavors, and so many different textures that worked perfectly together. Every dish tasted fresh, simple, and executed well. Service: For lunch, you're mostly taking care of yourself, but the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming whenever we interacted with them. This is one of those places that doesn't need a long review because you really just need to try it for yourself. Heard this place had the best Italian in the city. It did not disappoint. My wife and I were seated on the second level, which I felt like removed us from the energetic and vibing atmosphere on the first level. But honestly, we didn't come for the atmosphere, we came for the food. The bread and oil was fresh. The gnocchis are huge giant pillows, but still go down light. The scampi was super flavorful. Friday dinner here while in town for the weekend. I had originally made a reservation for 10 just in case the baseball game ran over, but received a call that earlier times had opened up. We moved the reservation to 9 and came there shortly before. To start, we ordered the bread and whipped ricotta, as well as the brussel sprouts. The bread was massive and the whipped ricotta was a nice touch. The brussel sprouts were also good - served with a sweet glaze and thick cubed pork belly. For my entree I ordered the gnocchi and meatballs which was incredibly large. The gnocchi were the size of rectangular pillowed donut holes. They almost were the same size as the meatballs. The sauce was also nicely seasoned and had a good flavor. I also added a half size of the cacio e Pepe. Easily one of the top 5 places I have had this dish. The sauce was perfectly flavored with pepper, plenty of sauce so it didn't stick to the pasta and become just a clumped mess - and the right size. For dessert I ordered the berry brown butter pastry. This was a perfect size and packed great flavor. Multi-leveled but still bright while being rich. I liked this place - can be loud, but they also have outdoor seating. Located near The Strip and only a half block from the bus stop. Lovely two story with dining areas on both levels. Beautifully decorated to look like you are eating in Italy. Friendly servers. Nice wine selection with very decent prices. They give you fresh bread and a small plate of olive oil with balsamic drizzle to dip the bread. That was delicious. Would have been five stars except my Stuffed Shells were served slightly warm ish. But they tasted good. Would have been fabulous if it was served hot and fresh. We came as a group of ten to celebrate Mother's Day for my wife, Mother-in-law, and Sister-in-law. There is both a downstairs and an upstairs as seating areas. The place has a clean Italian look. We started out with bread and oil, greens and beans, asparagus. For meals we all ordered some type of pasta. You can't miss on any of the pasta dishes. I along with others, had gnocchi. We scored the last table here at 6 o'clock on a week night after an early show at the Pittsburgh Winery. Many different menu items and drinks sound good, but we ended on the winter vegetable carpaccio (pretty to look at and tastes good), gnocchi and meatballs (both are huge), and white beans and hot sausage (salty). The focaccia in oil was yummy. I liked my Elisir di Mora cocktail, but hubby said his vanilla grapefruit Italian soda was better before all the ice in it melted. Staff are nice. This place is so cool looking and much bigger than I realized from the outside. We showed up early Saturday evening and they seated the four of us upstairs. It was so nice. Theres even a cute little balcony overlooking the downstairs and Im a sucker for theming. Our server was very helpful creating a vegan dish for my husband but alas the creamy mushroom sauce won him over. I tasted it. It was amazing! The kids menus came with crayons and a very nice create your own pasta for kids with seasonal veggies. The kids cookies looked huge and delicious too as an add on. The free bread service was nice but I think we saw the paid upgrade version and it looked amazing. So if we ever go with a bigger party we will definitely be doing that. We were mostly quiet while eating because it was that good. I also loved their decaf iced latte. As for service, the cashier and food runners were friendly and brought our meals directly to the table. There are plenty of indoor tables, and the noise level is comfortable. This spot is in the Strip District, so parking can be tricky and hard to find. But we got lucky and found parking about a block away. You are provided a number and take a seat wherever you'd like. Shortly after I received my drink (prosecco) and food. I ordered the eggplant parm sandwich. I made the reservation a month ahead of time, and the only time slots available were after 8 pm. I knew it was popular but I wasn't expecting that! Well I will say this. The food is good. Is it elite? No. Is it solid? Yeah. I'd probably give this place a 3.8/5.0...... Came here for Mother's day with a large group and had a variety of different things. I had the gnocchi and veal. The veal was great. Not a ton of gnocchi on the plate however. It also could have been warmer. The service was just average. One person didn't get their food for like 10-15 minutes after everyone else which kind of stinks. They said it was just "sitting down there" and got lost in the shuffle. I thought it was pretty pricey for the portions. We got the bread as an appetizer which was pretty good but again, not elite. One of my favorite seasonal dishes in Pittsburgh is the gnocchi pumpkin bowl at DiAnoia's so much so that I made a reservation specifically for this dish well over a month in advance. The reservation was for 6 people at 3pm on Sunday afternoon. When I got there and gave them my name there was some confusion and they couldn't find my reservation for a minute but then they sorted it out. The inside isn't super big and has a dining room area and a bar. There is an upstairs event space I haven't been in yet. There's just something about the pumpkin cream and pillowy gnocchi with fragrant basil that's perfect for fall. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about my first visit to DiAnoia's. It absolutely lives up to the hype. A member of our party found that they had mixed up the dates on the reservation, but DiAnoia's was able to accommodate us day-of, even though it was a Saturday night. Their staff were so friendly and understanding. We started off with a round of cocktails and the meat and cheese tray. The aged gouda was fantastic, but others also remarked on the peppercorn Asiago. The meats were also delightful. Bread with oil and balsamic vinegar was also brought out around the same time, and we couldn't get enough of it. We each ordered a different pasta dish, and they were all so good that we almost didn't share with each other. I went with the bread bowl with gnocchi, and it was phenomenal. The sauce is like an even better, even cheesier vodka sauce. You will absolutely have leftovers because the portions are huge. The pork pasta dish was also delicious, but I truly could not get enough of the gnocchi. We finished our visit with an Amari flight and an order of some of the more popular dessert options like the tiramisu and zeppole. The citrus flavor in the zeppole was delightful and not overpowering, and the tiramisu was not overly sugary. We also ordered the chocolate pine nut cake, which was a wonderful blend of textures and flavors while not being too rich. After coming here for the first time, I understand why it's so hard to get a reservation! This place is to die for, the best Italian food in Pittsburgh. We sat upstairs, which provides a nice, quiet setting, while downstairs is a bit louder in an open air room. Started with the fresh baked bread and added the whipped ricotta. Our bread seemed a little bit flatter than others, most had a bubble. The outside crust was airy while the interior had a browned bottom and crunch with the garlic olive oil on top. Mixed with the ricotta, this was the perfect app. Both pasta dishes were delicious, with the gnocchi being the favorite. Each were like clouds in your mouth, just melting when they hit your tongue. Paired with a hearty meatball and sauce, it was hard to stop eating. The veal cutlet was a great last second add on and worth every penny - crispy, flavorful and fresh. I did call and they were able to get me a table at 5pm for 2, as long as we were out by 6:30pm which is no problem at all, so we took it! It was PACKED - they were not kidding. He said this was one of the best dishes he has ever had. I tried some of his as well as the Gnocchi were super soft, like pillows and the sauce was really good. I didn't try the meatballs, but he loved them. The portions are a good size. The complimentary bread was tasty. I love when they add Balsamic into the dipping Service was good. Paper menus, rolled silverware in the middle of the table, non attentive service... If you ask for something that comes in multiple size- be very clear bc they will ring in the larger size. They do bring bread or are supposed to but we never got bread. Assumed the bread listed on the menu was what we were seeing at other tables, wrong. So we bought the bread but never got the focaccia looking bread. The massive piece of bread is odd to cut and share. Antipasto/charcuterie is served with no cutlery. Stopped in for dinner at Di Anoia's and started off with a salad to share, which was delicious once it finally made its way to our table 30 mins after ordering. Between salad and entrees, we waited over an hour, making our stomachs think that dinner was over and preventing us from really enjoying our meal. I had the gnoochi in the bread bowl, and my girlfriend had the cacio e pepe. Both were tasty - the bread on the bread bowl was amazing - but the wait between apps and the entrée kind of ruined the experience for us as neither of us made much of a dent in the food.
