Burnt almond tiramisù

Have been fortunate to have eaten at AF a couple of times recently. Have had Anthony stop by and discuss wines and he was wonderful, really helped picking outstanding wines. The bread service to start is so good. On recent visit ordered a special Soft Shell Crabs and Chicken Piccata. The crabs were so good and the Chicken was excellent. The salad and cavitappi Alla vodka are always a wonderful compliment to the meal to start the meal. The servings are large and yes we had enough for lunch the next day.

Chicken Parmigiana

I had been wanting to try this place for sometime and was excited to try it tonight for a friends birthday. I was disappointed. It took almost an 40 minutes for a server to come by. I felt like the quality of the food was just meh. I began my meal with a salad which was just okay. The noodles on both the vodka pasta and cacio e peppe were overdone. I felt like both sauces were lack luster but preferred the Cacio because at least it had some fan fare. I chose the chicken parmigiana for my entree and did not enjoy it. The sauce was so acidic and lacked seasoning. The chicken was pounded so thin that it became rubbery. I would equate it to wedding food. The whole dinner took around 3 hours (though we had a larger party). For the price tag, I don't think i'll be coming back based on the food.

Vodka Pasta

Food, food and more great food. One serving here could easily fill two people up! Each course comes with a salad and pasta dish. We tried the house salad, which was incredibly fresh and the vodka pasta. Pasta was to die for, sweet, creamy and adding in their chili olive oil made it the perfect dish. We tried the veal margherita and chicken Parmesan, each consisted of 3-4 pieces of meat and cooked perfectly. Service was prompt, came by at all the right times. We were sat an hour before closing and still had enough time to enjoy a drink and have all three courses with a few minutes to spare. I would recommend doing the valet, $8 plus a tip at night was much easier than finding a spot on that road!

Birthday celebrations truly don't get better than Alla Famiglia. Words almost fail to capture just how great the night was! from the incredible food to the warm, attentive service that made us feel genuinely celebrated from start to finish. Come hungry and plan on leaving with a to-go bag that will happily become lunch and dinner the next day. Everything is generous, perfectly shareable and downright delicious. We started with salads the House and the Tuscan Kale, both fresh and flavorful. The pastas were absolute standouts: Bigoli Ragu, Cacio e Pepe made tableside and Cavatappi Alla Vodka, each one better than the last. For mains, we went all in with Chicken Marsala, Chicken Parmigiano, Chicken Margherita, and Veal Piccata, classic, comforting, and expertly prepared. Add a bottle of bubbles, a bottle of bold red, and suddenly you've got four very happy women around the table. Alla Famiglia delivered an evening full of laughter, indulgence and food worth savoring long after the last bite. Perfect for birthdays or any night that deserves to feel special.

Somewhat sketchy neighborhood but public parking lot right next to restaurant made me feel safe. Valet available. Multiple rooms to dine in. Beautifully decorated for holidays. We shared a small dining room with 2 other couples. The bread with pepperoncini in oil was very good. The stuffed banana peppers have some kick and lots of gooey cheese. The house salads with blue cheese crumbles was enjoyable. Next was the pasta course. Watching our waitress create a creamy cheesy noodle concoction was impressive. By the time our entrees arrived we were getting full. We had veal parm and the seafood meal with cream sauce. I never take home leftovers. We both took 80% of our entrees home. Our waitress celebrated my birthday. The Bischoff cheesecake was also a hit and taken home for future enjoyment. Highly recommend. I really liked that the menu didn't have calories next to the items. It would have ruined the experience.

Smoked Provolone

The food was great! We got the meatball, smoked provolone, vodka pasta, cacio e Pepe pasta, and salad. I got the steak frites. The meatball was very traditional and their red sauce was excellent. I loved the vodka pasta and liked the cacio e Pepe. The steak frites was good. The raspberry tiramisu was the best dessert I've had in pittsburgh hands down. It is a must. The server was amazing. She was so knowledgeable and attentive. She gave us an overview of the menu and specials from memory that amazed the whole table. The host was super kind. The valet was very respectful and so kind as well. The one thing about this restaurant is the length of the meal. It was over 4 hours for our dinner start to finish! We were with a party of 8 but wow 4+ hours is crazy! It was a bit too long for our group.

Veal Milanese

Absolutely incredible dinner at Alla Famiglia. Started the night off with their smoked provolone, escargot, mussels, and giant meatballs. All the appetizers were delicious, my favorite was the smoked provolone. So good. After a round of some very tasty espresso martinis, some bottles of wine, and a round of tequila shots, we ordered our entrees. I went with the Veal Milanese per our waitress' recommendation. No joke, this was amazing. Absolutely worth the price in my opinion. Tender veal perfectly fried and resting in a pool of butter. Topped with crab and other tasty things. Highly impressed. Also got to try the Cacio E Pepe and the Cavatelli Alla Vodka. Both were great, I think I enjoyed the Cavatelli slightly more. Overall, one of the most amazing dinners ever. Food was incredible. Service was amazing. Huge shoutout to our waitress for dealing with our rowdy party of 12. Can't wait to come back to dine here again. 10/10 A+

Nice dinner out with family, but be prepared to be there for a while. Our reservation was at 5 PM, but we didn't receive our check and leave until after 8 PM. We weren't in a rush and enjoyed spending the time with family. However if you're not, I would keep that in mind. When we came up to the valet, no one was there so we ended up seeing a lot that said Alla Famiglia Only and parking there. When we walked up to the restaurant, valet was there now and we asked if it was okay that we parked. They said it was fine with a smile. (Spoilers: their attitude changed later!) Dinner was fine! We enjoyed the multiple courses, particularly the cacio e Pepe tableside. And the dressing on the casa salad was so delightful. The course pacing was incredibly relaxed, which I was fine with but some of my table mates were a little frustrated by the long waits. I had the tagliatelle with seafood and boy did they pack it with seafood! My husband enjoyed the veal cutlet but others found their steaks and veal chop to be mediocre for the price. We also tried the tiramisu and pumpkin creme brûlée for dessert, all delicious. When we went to our car, the valet yelled at us, saying next time we parked in this lot we'd get towed. We explained what happened and he essentially said we were lying. That definitely soured the experience for us! But still worth trying if you opt for street parking and don't mind a looooong dinner.

Private event room

We had a private event at Alla Famiglia yesterday evening at 6pm. They have valet parking for $8 or you can do street parking like we did that's $1 an hour. A friend and I got there early so we asked to see if we can grab a glass of wine upstairs at the bar. They don't have any happy hour specials and got a glass of wine each. The inside is on the dim side and upscale. Once it came time for our event the hostess got us and led us back downstairs to the private event room. The room bright and gorgeous with the chandeliers. There were about 30 of us or so and they set it up so that there were long tables (last time we had an event there they had round tables). They then had staff walk down the line for each table and serve us our food. I really liked the red wine vinaigrette for our salad and the bread in the bruschetta was delicious. Everyone really enjoyed our pasta options as well as the fish and the chicken options. I thought their greens and beans with sausage was just fine. The nice thing was that there were plenty of leftovers packed up in leftover containers for us to take home. The cannoli desert was self serve. I was a bit surprised that such a nice place like Alla Familigia would have those small white styrofoam containers that aren't necessarily the most sturdy.

Tonight I went to Alla Famiglia for a business dinner and it was FABULOUS! Our server (sadly I am blanking on her name) was impressive and knew the menu - both food and wine - in and out! Very thorough with her explanations! We also had another chef (?) served (?) .. his name was Chewy and he was a ray of sunshine! That man deserves a raise! He made our experience even better than it already was! Okay now onto the food! We started with the smoked provolone and it was chefs kiss. Absolutely amazing, highly recommend! Then I got the house salad - an absolute staple. Since we had a large group we got both the pasta options and both were incredible! For my main dish I got a portabello dish (I am a vegetarian) and it was very very good! Overall, it was a top tier dinner that I will think about for days to come!

Vodka

Food is delicious and also authentic per my Italian friend :-) The portions here are mountainous. You have to get a main and 2 sides, one salad one pasta, and leave with a hefty takeout box. They give you this spicy oil that's really good. I have been here for dinner as well as for a catered event in one of the back rooms.

Finally got to come here and I was not disappointed! I was told by people to go hungry because it's a lot of food, they were not lying. 3 courses and each being super delicious. I don't remember the name of the cocktail I go but was delicious. Will be returning many more times! What is odd, is that the neighborhood/surroundings don't seem very safe. I did valet parking so didn't have to walk through the streets but don't know how safe I would feel if I had to do that. Just be careful!

Matcha crème brûlée

We celebrated my birthday here and had an amazing experience. Our service was spectacular and each course was outstanding. The matcha crème brûlée was one of the best desserts i've ever had!

Hi, Does a steak entree come with pasta? Salad? Regards

Yes, you get the steak entree, salad, pasta with vodka sauce (i do not know if they changed it), and I think bread with dipping sauce. You get a 4 course meal for that price.

Getting a spot in a class is very hard since they are limited to 6-8 people, but if you get the chance I absolutely recommend it. The classes are 2 hours long each and are extremely intimate. Bryan and Justin will meet you at the door and will introduce you to their workshop. There is a spread of antipasto to snack on which was curated very well. Each person gets to make 4 (four!!) dozen raviolis each. The class is extremely informative and fun. I personally haven't ordered any of their ravioli drops before, but from eating the batch I personally made, I know I will in the future. Highly recommend ordering their raviolis online or taking the class if it's available.

It's a fun experience and I will definitely do it again.

Got the pasta with a crispy chicken cutlet again, which could have been a meal on its own-may have been a foot across. House made pasta was delicious as usual. Very simple, no extra effort given beyond the output of a classic italian dish. Each plate proportionately could have fed two people so it felt like we were eating for four. We both left full, but underwhelmed with the flavor profiles rendered. Service: Overall our waitress was pretty absent, having asked us how we were doing only twice, leaving little room for any comments or feedback to be offered. She recognized her absence and offered us a surprise tiramisu (complimentary) to make up for the lack of attentiveness to our table. Seating: A large bar stretches the restaurant accompanied by wooden chairs, tables and a few booths tucked against the parallel wall. The seating is not tight, meaning you have space between yourself and other parties but the wooden chairs/tables were uncomfortable. In 2026, we just expected a little more from a restaurant charging $20+ for pasta plates. Affordability: If you're going out for drinks and an appetizer, you might be able to sneak your bill in for under $50, but otherwise forget it. Each plate is $20+ with options on the wine list reaching as high as $200+ ... We wouldn't describe this atmosphere as fancy, but the prices are trying to be. Comments: Always support local, small business and give every spot a try. We left this restaurant full, but saying we wouldn't be back, and think it's important that you get an opportunity to read an honest review before you spend your hard earned money. Take care, and happy eating!

The venue is beautifully decorated and though it's small, they do a nice job with spacing of the tables for all the guests they can accommodate at once. They are also BYOB, but offer a QR code for a neighboring wine shop who will deliver any bottle you select and pay for via the QR code at your table - This is great because they don't charge a corking fee when you do this, but if you do bring your own, they charge a modest corking fee, I think $8. Their menu is excellent... it's filled with so many appetizing options! We started with their stuffed peppers - OMG, EXCELLENT!! Any time I'm in the Pittsburgh area I need to try a few things, this being one of them. These were probably some of the best I've ever had! The sauce was finely ground and really flavorful. The peppers were perfectly cooked to keep their beauty and texture and they were spicy too! We also requested a large order of their table bread and asked for a side of EVOO with it. I sprinkled grated pecorino and freshly ground red chili flakes into the EVOO to make an incredible dipping sauce which worked perfectly with that bread! For my entrée I enjoyed their amazing Spinach Tagliatelle which came perfectly presented and tasted amazing! The spinach was perfectly cooked to the proper texture and the sauce was so good I didn't mind it having eggplant in it (which I hate). Save room for dessert, their panna cotta was great! Overall, the entire experience was very nice, I'd definitely return!

We got the smoked gouda and nduja pizza & scallop mezzaluna (with the latter as part of their new year menu). Honestly, the pizza was way better than I expected, I'd say the best of these two dishes. It was thin but well flavored with the gouda, tad spiciness (or rather kick) from the salami, and creaminess of the roasted squash. I don't normally like white pizza nor squash on my pizza(?), but this tasted rather good and unique! The scallop mezzaluna was as if the scallop was a ravioli filling. So the dish came with 9 half moonish pasta/raviolis served in a very simple sauce of lemon and processo. It was okay, my first time trying something like this but I wish there was more or had an oomph to it. I'd love to come back here and try more of their pizzas!
