The cutest coffee shop with the friendliest employees!! Stopped in for the first time on a weekday around 830am. The ladies behind the counter were singing and greeted me with huge smiles as soon as I walked in. I ordered the cinnamon bun latte from the October specials menu and it was DELICIOUS. So cinnamon-y, definitely sweet, but not too sweet, and creamy. I also snagged an Orams donut to go. I wasn't expecting to see such a large seating area in the room off to the right. I'll definitely plan to stay and work for an hour or two, next time. Can't wait to come back! Also, worth noting, the parking lot is small, but there are a ton of street spots nearby. read more

This place is a hidden gem. We live in Pittsburgh, but were passing through the neighborhood on a Saturday morning. We checked out the menu while two customers shared a conversation with the employees. Immediately I knew we had flown into the coziest little coffee shop. The regulars recommended a few different things from the menu until giving up and admitting that everything is good. I got a hot vanilla latte and my husband got a cold brew. We also scored one of the last limited flavor donuts - blueberry icing with key lime filling. OMG. The sweet blueberry mixed with the tang of the key lime was the perfect flavor combination. Everything we tasted was excellent. Their selection of craft cold drinks like cucumber mint tea and blackberry lemonade were just a couple that made me decide I would be coming back. I could have ordered anything and I know it would be great. The atmosphere was perfect. Laid back, friendly, conversational. Tons of character and lots of seating. If you happen to be in the area and are in need of caffeine or quick bite to eat, definitely check this place out! read more

Adorable!! Really cute little coffee shop in Ambridge. They have several off street parking spots. They did have several outdoor tables which would be wonderful in the summer. They had two different rooms with seating. The first with tv and sectional and another room with tables and chairs. They sell ice cream and doughnuts as well as some other locally sourced items (Pittsburgh spaghetti sauce). The staff seemed really nice and the coffee was good! Got this tip from a local and checked it out. Great little spot set in what might be an old gas station. Enter and order at the counter, then take your fare either direction for some comfy seating. Patty, the owner, was friendly and accommodating. I ordered a peppermint tea and was please that they keep their teas loose and brew to order. They also carry Oram's baked good. Oram's! I had heard of them and was happy to try out the cinnamon roll, which was giant! But more importantly it was so good, tender, not overly sweet or soaked in syrup, just the right amount of glaze and cooked so the bottom has that firm bite to it. Perfecto! I love this place, it's adorable inside with available seating on either side from where you order I always get a grumpy coffee (24 oz) and a to die for sausage egg and cheese breakfast bagel. I debated how to rate Old Crow, but the longer I stayed, the higher the rating creeped up a little bit, hitting 4 stars. I have made it my temporary hobby to explore a wide variety of independent coffee shops throughout the Pittsburgh area and selected Old Crow because I was looking for something different close to the airport--where there isn't much. I'd already been to Coraopolis and Carnegie, and there didn't seem to be much farther west on the parkway. Twiddling with the map led me up the river to Ambridge. I don't think I've been to Ambridge since I was a little kid, so I was curious to see what's happening in this little river town these days. It turns out Ambridge now has not just one but two or three or more little coffee shops. I picked Old Crow because it is a new iteration/operation, and I wanted to see what it is all about. Old Crow is not in downtown, it is on a street close to the Shop-n-Save. They have their own small parking lot. When I walked in, my first impressions were, wow this is big, and oh, this feels like we are out in the country. I know to expect a lot of variety in small-town coffeeshops, and this wasn't exactly a surprise. This is not a slick, uniform, "professionally" designed place. This is more like someone decorating haphazardly on their own whim--not that this is a bad thing. It is very homespun. The main area is very wide, and has a long counter. There is plenty of seating with tables and chairs. There are free books, local info, and well-done chalkboard menu that is very clear and shows the basics as well as their currently specialties. They get major points for the clarity of their menu as this is a pet peeve that I've developed from some other confusing local shops. They had a medium-sized assortment of pastries such as biscotti, cinnamon rolls, and some local donuts. There is a large back room with more tables, lots of couches, and tons of space. I was the only person in this space for a long, long time. This is the biggest reason why their rating kept creeping up: this is the best working space I have been to during my explorations. It is dead quiet, cozy, and spacious. I ordered a 12 oz latte and the barista asked me what kind of milk and if I'd like a real cup. She gets points for offering me a real cup! Visually, the latte looked decent--enough foam, the correct texture, but nothing special. That's how it tasted, too, OK flavor, no bitterness, but not "wow this is super yummy." So it is a middle-of-the-road latte. I knocked up the stars because the space and its benefits really grew on me. read more

My daughter & I stopped in for a beverage. There is so much to browse in this quaint business. A large selection of specialty coffee & tea drinks to choose from. They also have ice cream, milkshakes & variety of edibles to compliment your beverage choice. They also offer Oram's donuts on Friday & Saturday. I came in this afternoon and loved how unpretentious it was compared to other Pittsburgh coffee shops I frequent. The prices were more than fair and the coffee quite good, and there was plenty of seating and a very homey feel. The owner was incredibly kind and I felt comfortable and welcome there. Extra bonus for playing 70's music on the radio! The side room on the right did get a little chilly. Definitely a place I'll come back to when I'm in the Ambridge area! read more
