I stopped by here this past Saturday morning with my wife and our twins for our morning coffee. Normally it's every Sunday morning that we try to hit up a new local coffee shop but on this day we happened to have some free time on a Saturday. Since we were in the Mars area, we decided to head over to the Mars Brew House. This shop is located in downtown Mars on Pittsburgh Street. It is located in what looks to be an old large house and I think that you were able to go in at one point in time but only the window was open on this morning. The gentleman that was working the window as super nice and introduced his dogs to both of my kids. After looking around for the menu, he had to take a picture of it with my phone so that I could see it. After looking at it l ultimately decided on a large latte and after being asked about a flavor chose toasted marshmallow while my wife also chose a latte and went with hazelnut for her flavoring. It wasn't long before we had our coffees and headed to our car. My coffee here ended up being alright. The flavor of marshmallow was good but I found the coffee itself to be mostly lost behind it and the milk. So it wasn't bad but I just wish that I had more flavor coming through on what should have been the star. My wife did at least enjoy her hazelnut coffee. The bottom line for me is that I might stop by here again in the future. While my wife enjoyed her latte, I definitely could have used more coffee flavor in mine. read more

Today was our first time at Mars Brew House and omg you guys! The frozen coffee with espresso is my new obsession! They have a ton of flavors and the prices are on point - better than the big chain coffee stores. Literally, if you see me there on a daily...no you didn't, hahaha. The staff was amazing (including the beautiful pup)! My kids enjoyed playing outside on this beautiful day and especially enjoyed their tasty kids cup/whip! The local coffee shop is a community hub in small towns, and Mars Brew House is no exception. I made the walk over a few times during our stay and the coffee was solid and the service was friendly. The line seemed long a couple times but this spot is run by one guy, who makes genuine conversation with each customer, which is completely fine by me. Due to covid concerns, they are currently only open as a walkup window but do have outdoor seating available on the patio. They do not currently have a posted or printed menu, which can be difficult for new visitors, but they can pretty much make any drink you ask for - note that they have over 40 flavor options available for lattes, which was unexpected. read more

We stumbled upon this place when visiting the little UFO in Mars. Being from out of town, we didn't really know what to expect, but found a great place! I actually wish this was in my neighborhood so I could visit more often! The man working behind the counter was super friendly and helpful in recommending things to try from the menu. His coffee was amazing. I got an iced coffee with caramel - one of his most popular options - and even thought it was freezing outside, it was a great choice. It was a good blend of sweet and coffee. The kids with me got a cookie and it looked amazing...but they ate it all before we could give it a try. The prices were great for the quality. The place itself is warm and welcoming. They have a variety of seating options (tables, sofas) and it looks like a great place to meet a friend or do some work. They do advertise they have tables upstairs that you can rent by the hour if you want to work there. I loved everything about my visit-from the cozy feel of this house filled with character, couches and coffee tables and the warm greeting from its owner, to its delicious pastries and drinks. I'm a tea drinker, not so much into coffee, but the owner had me try their most popular item-frozen coffee. It was surprisingly delicious! I love that the ingredients of their items are organic and from local farms. I also love supporting local businesses. Iced coffee tasted fine, a bit watery. They were out of iced tea, but did suggest alternatives. No trouble to sub almond milk for dairy. Weird- there is a Q-Anon bumper sticker on the cash register, so I have to assume the owner is a problematic conspiracy theorist. Today while visiting Pittsburgh we decided to take the kids to "MARS". It was raining so we stopped into this great little cafe. Our three daughters hung out and read books while we sipped on amazing lattes. A very nice gentleman was there helping everyone, some older residents and some high school kids. As we were getting in the car my daughter spilled in her words "the best hot chocolate ever". As you can imagine the tears were flowing. My wife walked back in to buy a new one and not only did he not charge her for it, but he also sent my kid a cake pop. I just recently discovered this coffee house scrolling through Yelp looking for a new coffee shop to try around my area. One of my favorite aspects about this café is how the shop is inside an old house. The outdoor porch and homey feeling you receive from walking in makes you feel right at home. There frozen coffee is to die for! On hot summer days drinking this frozen coffee concoction is something I look forward to drinking all the time. Such an adorable coffee shop and town! I hesitated when I walked in because it's such a welcoming, cozy environment I thought it was someone's home! The drip coffee is very good quality and everything is very fairly priced (cheaper than Starbucks for sure). The owners (who are also the baristas) are very friendly and make you want to stick around. Books are available to read, free wifi, and a calming soundtrack plays continuously. Great coffee shop in a cute town. I happen to stumble upon a small town called Mars like 30 minutes drive north of Pittsburgh. Needing refreshment I searched on yelp and came across Mars Brew House. It's a house converted into a coffee shop which is so inviting, feels like your going over for coffee to your family's place ( I'm at the patio sitting on a rocking chair and sipping my coffee drink as I am writing this). When you enter, you go towards the counter and a wonderful coffee aroma greets you and also a very friendly barista. There is quite a few options to pick so I asked the barista what he recommend for a cold drink as I wanted something cold, he suggested an iced blended coffee with whipped cream and a syrup of your choice. The sweetness and coffee flavor complemented each other, not one was over powering the other which is nice since I still wanted the coffee taste to my drink. If you find yourself in Mars or even the nearby towns like Cranberry twp, don't hesitate to try this place out. I for sure will be visiting this place again when I'm around the area. read more

Okay, so I'm a Starbucks junkie...but wait, this is because there's one right by me not even 5 minutes away. I also really love local places and I'm happy to support them. I happened to be in Mars today and I used my Yelp app to search for coffee, which came up negative for Starbucks right by me (one like 4 miles from where I was at, but I didn't have too much time to spare to fight some traffic to get there), but it did show this place about 1.5 miles away. So of course I ended up here. I'm so happy I did! It makes me laugh when people say there's a downtown Mars because the downtowns I'm used to are far different from what I saw here. Still, it was nice to explore. Mars Brew House is, well, a house! It's nicely laid out with outdoor and indoor seating. I wanted to sit there and read a book for a long time. There's an indoor fountain, updated and clean bathrooms, and different offerings to try on the menu. It's spacious, inviting, and the comfy looking seating calls your name. Plus, Brad is so nice! I chatted with him a little bit and finally decided on a caramel latte (I think?). It was delicious! It was better that anything I've had in a while around my area so that's a thumbs up. Been going here since the opening in 2012. Everything they sell is delicious. The caramel latte is my favorite. Also, they carry Oram's cinnamon rolls (from the Beaver Falls bakery). Fantastic! There is a free library, comfortable seating, sparkling clean rest rooms, and LIVE MUSIC on occasion. Undoubtedly THE place to visit when in the Mars area. Since I'm a Martian, I was excited to see that we finally have our own coffee house. My husband and I have been saying for years that it was something that we were lacking in the downtown Mars area. Not that I was excited to try their coffee, as I'm not a coffee drinker. I'm a tea connoisseur through and through, and they offer that too. What I was really looking for was a great hang-out spot. A place to relax while I'm off duty from my Mommy job, a place to meet up with friends, and a place to kick back in with a good book and beverage. The Mars Brew House provides all of these things. It's a very comfy, inviting place with lots of windows, a nice sounding indoor fountain, comfy chairs, a front porch with more chairs and a cafe patio area. This place will be great year-round. They have a cute, kitschy decor with take-offs on the Mars/Martian theme. And, according to their website Saturdays from 12-2 pm are Acoustic Saturdays with live music by local artists. I'll definitely have to check them out on a Saturday. I hope that they can make it as a business though, as I was a little surprised by their prices. I ordered my favorite today, a small Chai Tea Latte, and it was $2.75 plus tax, bringing it to $2.92 (almost three dollars!). And, it was a very small serving size of about 8 oz. That's just enough Chai to get me started and want more. My drink was at least a real Chai tea latte with steamed milk, and not a powder stirred into hot water or milk. It is a sweeter Chai flavor, less bite to it than say it's Starbucks competition. The drink could benefit from a little more spice and a little less sugar. If the drink price was a little lower and the Chai tea had a little more spice, I would be giving them 4 or 5 stars. Overall, it was still a nice stop, and I welcome this business to Mars! read more
