We had the hot buffalo wings and they weren't bad just a little too much vinegar. I probably need to tell him to cook them a little bit less as I normally do but I forgot this time cuz I do not like them dry. Also had the hot roast beef sandwich which was pretty good at least it was real beef not lunch meat. The sauce on it wasn't bad but what was a little thick and not a lot of flavor. We came here on recommendation from my husbands grandparents who frequented this restaurant while living in the area temporarily. We had also heard good things about their Reuben sandwich from several locals. While the Reuben was good it seemed to be a little light on meat and a little heavy on cheese. Now, this may be a biased and unfair assessment, but if you've been to squirrel hill market for a Reuben, you know (they serve you the entire cow on their Reuben it seems haha!) All that to say, it was a good Reuben, just not the best I've ever had. I believe their corned beef is homemade and very flavorful and moist. Service was good, friendly, and attentive to us. Family friendly and our kids enjoyed their meals as well. It's definitely not much in terms of looks but still a good local restaurant. read more

The food was actually good. Five of us had breakfast there on 3/12. The problem is that it took an hour for four of us to get it and an additional ten minutes for our fifth person to get his. What we ordered was nothing fancy either. They seemed to be under staffed here. Parking can be a problem at dinner time especially on Friday and Saturday nights. They allow smoking in the bar area. Prices are moderate and the ambiance is adequate. The place has been there for at least 50 years that I know of. Give it a try. read more

My husband and I came here for breakfast around 8:15am on a Friday morning. We were the second couple in the dining room and we chose to sit by a table with a heater as it was quite chilly in the building. Our waitress came over and took our drink order right away. After awhile we placed our order. Our son was with us so we hoped to get in and out as quickly as possible. The dining room began to fill up. After about 20 minutes we still did not receive our food. It was clear the waitress was trying to keep everyones drinks filled to kill time. Another 20 minutes went by and we still did not have our food. Our son was getting ansy as was I! The waitress claimed it was "The Marty's Way", as in it was normal for such slow service from the kitchen. After about an hour and ten minutes we received our food. By then, I was not happy and I took most of my food home as our son was no longer cooperating. I had ordered the western omelet, toast, and homefries. Our son had chocolate chip pancakes. The food was all delicious, but the experience we had was really unfortunate and does not make me want to return. The prices are so good that if you have all the time in the world to sit and wait for your food, then you should give it a try. read more

I went back. Not a great experience. The food is good, but one waitress on a Friday night during lent. She was running around like a chicken with her head cut off and couldn't keep up. It's not her fault, but she doesn't listen because her mind is trying to figure out what to do next. The owners/managers need to fix this fast. Great! Pork chops were as good as any high end restaurant and the accompaniments were awesome also! Every morsel of food and drink served were wonderful even if you had to wait for a while to receive your food. Marty's has a reputation for the best breakfast in town if you have time to wait!! Truthfully this wasn't what I expected. On Christmas Day I had to fly back to Seattle and my family wanted to go dine out one last time. I had warned that with Christmas many restaurants would be closed, and bless my mother she thought that since the Internet said it was open during a cursory search that it was open not noticing the print that stated "Please double check for holiday hours". We arrived in Cranberry and found that nowhere she thought was open was open. It led us to calling every place that popped up and when all hope was almost lost Marty's Suburban confirmed that it was open, so off we went. The outside was a little dated and no windows on the exterior made me feel real hesitant. We bypassed the first door and went to the second and entered the dining room and then that is when confusion hit. I was expecting a dive bar, not a quaint little dining room. But there it was - a quaint little dining room complete with Christmas tree and Christmas music playing in the background. We were seated very quickly and handed holiday menus. My parents ordered the fish - a breaded cod complete with cheese - and I opted for the turkey. The serving sizes were gigantic! I swear there was a pound of turkey on my plate a variety of dark and light meat covered in a delicious gravy. It was terribly tasty! The water was not tasty, so I would have to recommend drinking something other than water here. Both of my parents had sizeable portions as well and commented that it was super tasty. In summary, the only positives about this place was the personable service, and as a smoker, the freedom to have a smoke with a drink. Went here on a Sunday for lunch. Showed up around 12:45, and received a breakfast menu. Inquired about seeing a lunch menu, and was told lunch doesn't start until 2pm. Say what now? The reason given for lunch not starting until 2pm was that the only person cooking was the owner. Not sure if that means the owner doesn't know how to cook burgers/use the fryer etc. but I digress. We were told upon ordering it would take longer than usual for our food to be prepared; again, because only the owner was cooking. No joke: 1.5 hours later we received our food which consisted of: 1) a ham, bacon, and egg sandwich with hash browns 2) eggs, sausage, hash browns, and pancakes. My wife said her food was awesome. My sandwich was, well, a sandwich. Meh. Probably the only reason I'd go back is to have drinks and freely smoke inside. Again, the bartender was nice too, so as a bar this place is probably good. This place is a gem. We've lived in Zelie for 5+ years and have dined here often. Their menu is robust and includes a variety of dishes you'd find at fine dining establishments. And, they nail them, for half the price. Tonight, we had veal parm and the chicken Romano. Because of the large portions, we'll be having the same tomorrow night. Both came with one side and a choice of salad or soup. My wife had the Cali veggies and I had the pasta with my veal. Everything was delicious. For what it's worth, their hand breaded fried fish dinners with fries and mac & cheese are always great. We've had that dish a few times. And, like tonight, always enough for another dinner. Truly, we are always happy after dining here, whether indoors or as carry-out. In short, highly recommend. read more

I can't believe after living in Cranberry Twp and passing this restaurant every day for almost 12 years that today was the first time my husband and I ate here . I love these under the radar, do it their own way, kind of places. If it weren't for a few cars, you'd think they were out of business or at least only open at night. Once inside , there was little of substance to complain about. It was by no means fancy but certainly serviceable. They have a solid menu and good prices. I had a platter of all the basics and it was all pretty good and tasty. Personally, I don't like the seasoning on the home fries, but that was just me. I have a thing against dill which may have been the culprit. Some may have a problem with the speed of service, but not me. It just gives me a little time to catch up on my reading. I'd be surprised if anyone would have a problem with the servers. Friendly, unique, and very helpful. I'll go back soon and often. read more

I ate here for the first time and was not impressed! None of the employees had masks on. The bread was not fresh. The prime rib was so fatty! The veal I was told was pretty good. After hearing terrific reviews, my sisters and our husbands decided to give it a try. First of all, the door we went through led to the smoke filled bar. We didn't know the door to the restaurant was a little further down on the building. It looks like there was a staffing issue since only one server was responsible for the whole restaurant. Our service was very slow to start, after a bit of our time there, more servers showed up and our service improved. My sister ordered the shrimp bisque and it was luke warm at best. She asked for hot water to mix with the soup to heat it but also to thin it out since it was very thick. Unfortunately, no part of our meal was great or memorable. The guests all seemed to be regulars. Here is the problem, and why I will never go back, a woman was filling up small cups of dressing or tartar sauce and she coughed in to her hand, that's gross. I had a terrible experience today with this place! I called at 3:30 and asked if I placed an order and paid for it over the phone, could they bring it out to my car at 5:45 instead of having to go in to the restaurant. They said yes, and took my order and my credit card number. At 5:45, I pulled into their parking lot, called to say I was ready for my order and described my car. Apparently they forgot to prepare my order! I waited in my car for 25 minutes, called again and was asked to come in to pick it up!!! (The point to all this was that I didn't WANT to go in because of COVD-19!) AND IT STILL WASN'T READY!!! Another 15 minutes standing in the restaurant ..... finally ready. (BTW no staff members were wearing masks and I could hear people inside their bar --- I believe a violation of the PA mandate to not be sitting at bars.) I was pretty upset......then to top it all off, while exiting, I tripped on their threshold, fell, and dropped the bag of food! Fortunately the food was salvageable, but I bruised my knee. The meat was rubbery, couldn't chew it. I was offered another choice but it took so long to receive this, I decided not to get anything else. The fries were o.k., gravy was good. I stopped in with a coworker here today. This was my second time at Marty's and I had been wanting to get back here to try their Tuesday wing special for a while now and were finally were able to make it in. Marty's is mostly a bar which is separate from the dining room. The dining room is a little on the small side and has a dated look to it. It's a borderline dive bar, but I was happy that the dining room did not smell of smoke even though it didn't look the nicest. The waitress was very polite and prompt with our order. We both got the wing special which featured 2 pounds of jumbo wings at a very reasonable price. I got the cajun dry rub with a side of thai chili and my coworker had Marty's magic with a side of ranch. The wings looked really good and tasted decent. I could have easily split the meal with someone for the amount of food. The experience made us want to come back to try some of their other specials. We saw they have a burger special on Wednesdays with gourmet burgers included. Don't be put off by the look of the building. The staff is friendly, they have some interesting things on their menu. Portion sizes are large here and the food is decent. If you don't mind putting up with the divey look it's a place I'd recommend to check out. read more

Wow, and I mean wow. This place hasn't changed since 1995 except for new crap on their walls. The outside hasn't changed since 1965. LOL For their expensive food price you would think Mary Ann, owner, would update the appearance of the outside. I stopped in 2 weeks ago to have lunch and sat at the bar. Ordered a beer and wanted a menu. Took the bartender took 45 minutes before she gave me a menu. I wanted to try the wings but on the menu the prices were blacked out but still could see the prices for the wings. It was 9.99 for 6 and 13.99 for a dozen. I asked her what was the prices and wanted a half of a dozen. $13 for 6 wings, I crapped my shorts. So I ordered them with another beer. When the wings came out, they looked good (but not for 13 bucks!!). My first bite of them they were dry. It was like I was chewing on sand. I did say something but she had nothing to say about it. Service was slow on getting food and she did keep up on the bottled beer, 3 bucks. So my experience on this bar is don't go in. Prices are high for little portions. When the owner Annie was there, she made customers happy and the food was awesome. Now the don't have a chef, they just have a cook who don't know the basics. I will never go back again. read more

I have been to Marty's nearly every month for the last year - a group of us go once a month to keep in touch. Every time we go, we are always amazed with the food - the portions are huge, the chef is excellent, our food is always really good and the wait staff is very nice and courteous. I was hesitant to go because it doesn't look like much from the outside, but when you go in and have great food, you kind of feel like "I'm getting good food at a great deal - should I keep this a secret ?" kind of feeling. I had heard a lot of good things about this place, so I figured I would give it a shot for dinner. First, the dining room is rather small. Granted there's nothing wrong with a small dining room, it's just a quaint, intimate setting. Upon entering, the waitress invited myself and my boyfriend to choose a seat anywhere we'd like. Soon after we seated ourselves, she took our drink orders. She brought us our drinks very quickly. She returned about 5 minutes later asking if we knew what we wanted to order to eat. There was only one problem... we didn't have menus. The waitress quickly gave us menus. At first, I was a tad underwhelmed. There was a page of sandwich options, a page of appetizers, and dinner options. My boyfriend and I both settled for a dinner entree. I ordered the "Parma". Which is a piece of chicken coated in breadcrumbs, fried, topped with mozz cheeze, and served on plate of tomato sauce. It came with a choice of potato and choice of soup or salad for appetizer. I chose to go with the salad with ranch dressing and mashed potato. I was a little thrown off that the waitress had to read the menu to know what the "Parma" was that I had ordered. Just seemed a bit weird to me. My boyfriend ordered fried fish and baked potato. First out was my salad. It was a tad disappointing. The greens started to brown. Didn't taste fresh at all. Next, our waitress brought some rolls to our table. Typically, I'm a sucker for rolls... any kind of rolls. These, however, just weren't that good. They tasted as if they'd been sitting out for awhile. Overall, not very good. I ate my one roll, but I ended up smothering it in butter. Soon after, our waitress brought our meals. My chicken looked pretty appetizing. Soon after I took the first bite I realized that the sauce it was served on was cold. Not just lukewarm... this was just taken out of the fridge cold. Allow me to make one thing very clear, I really hate sending food back. I really do. In this instance, however the sauce was so cold, I had to. While they fixed my plate, I ate my mashed potatoes. They weren't bad. A couple minutes later, my new plate of chicken came out and the sauce was piping hot. They certainly fixed their error. All in all, would I give this place another try? Yes. I stopped by here recently with a coworker for lunch. Marty's Suburban is located right on Perry Highway and I had to have driven by it at least a hundred times without actually noticing it. As you can probably guess there's not much to see on the outside and the inside is a long dining room with a bar at the back that has no seats. Since the Friday that I was there happened to be during lent I went with the fish fry lunch as did my coworker. It consisted of fried cod and your choice of two sides for which I chose French fries and pierogies. We waited for quite a long time before our meals came out including watching some other customers who came in about 5 minutes after us and who also ordered the fish fry get served before us. Our server also seemed to be MIA and I wouldn't be surprised if some of the people there waited 10+ minutes just to put in their order. Whenever our meals finally came they were quite a large portion. Two pieces of cod, 3 pierogies in onions and butter as well as a half a plate of French fries. The fish was cooked correctly and was still moist on the inside. One of the pieces was quite a bit thicker than the other and had a nice breading to fish ratio while the thinner one had too much breading. The pierogies here were actually quite good as I think that they were sautéed in the onions and butter and had a little texture on the outside before getting to the soft potato center. Last but not least were the French fries which were ok. I did end up salting them a bit and dipping them into some hot sauce for a little more flavor. The bottom line for me is that I probably wouldn't head back here again in the future. Why would I with the lackluster service and merely ok food? read more
