Philly cheese steak and pasta salad
    Krissy G.

Great food, pleasant staff. Wish this were closer to home because everything was so good. The most surprising was the falafel. It was easily one of the top we have ever had. The pasta salad side was another surprising hit as well. They have a nice selection of beers and mixed drinks. The waffle fries and beer cheese were a great starter.

First time back to Smiling Moose in 3 years. Went for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. The place only had a few people inside. We went back because we had some folks who said how much they like the place. We were quickly greeted and seated. Server was very attentive. I ordered the Club and my wife had the Rachel. Both came with a side of pasta salad. I really enjoyed the pasta salad. So much better than fries would have been. My club wasn't bad. Not the best I've had but not the worst by any means. As seems to be typical of a lot of places, the meat was lunchmeat. I tried my wife's Rachel, I thought it was decent, she thought it was just okay. I think we will try to come more often and explore the menu a little more.

My husband and I stopped here today for a late lunch. I was pleasantly surprised by the food. The waffle fries with beer cheese were very good although a bit overpriced. The shrimp po boy tacos were very very good. But again the price was a little disappointing.. they were $16 and came with 2 rather large tacos but no side. My husband got the jack sparrow burger and it was quite delicious and cooked perfectly. The pasta salad side was interesting and different. The service was very good so no complaints there. I think given the ambiance (more divey than other places) I was hoping for better prices but the food was great so I'd recommend.

AJ, the manager, was so great! Attentive. Answered our questions, made delightful suggestions on beverages and food choices. He was on point with everything! Cocktails are made using only PA distillery liquors so we thought it was going to be hard to find something we liked. But the syrups and mixers are made in-house and were pretty good! Not the usual super sugary stuff that comes in pre-mixed cartons. Had such a lovely experience this time. The music was nice and at a good level to continue the conversation. They had indoor and outdoor seating. Dog friendly outdoors. Driving range next door is "dry" but you can rest your drinks at the restaurant patio tables if need be. Great place to spend a cool evening. Looking forward to a repeat visit.

I can't remember what this was, but it was goooood!

I came here with a large group towards the end of May and we had a great time! Our server was soooo responsive and maintained a great attitude despite having to serve such a large group. Our food came out quickly and EVERYTHING tasted great and was full of flavor. Even the drinks were on point! Because we had so many people in our party and we wanted the check split into smaller portions, I assisted the server with identifying who had what because there was some issue with their system. I know this was stressful for her but again, she maintained such a great attitude. I can't remember her name, but I am grateful we had her as our server. I don't think you could go wrong with any of the servers, everyone we encountered was super friendly and helpful. I definitely recommend giving this place a try and would love to come back if I am ever in the area again.

Imagine my surprise when I came across a can from a brewery called Smiling Moose at the beer distributor. I hadn't realized this place had been around for quite some time, let alone that they had multiple locations. Discovering that one of their spots is nearby, I knew I had to check it out. I learned that they started brewing beer 20 years ago on the South Side with a small setup that could only produce one keg at a time. Over the years, they expanded, opening this location in Cranberry and, more recently, a production site in Grove City where they now brew their beer. It's amazing to see how they grew from such humble beginnings to where they are today. We finally made it to Smiling Moose Brewery in Cranberry and sampled a variety of beers, including: 3 Beards - A classic Pale Ale. Party Rock n Roll - A crisp and refreshing Pilsner at 5% ABV. Blinded by the Lite - A smooth and easy-drinking Lite Ale at 4% ABV. Coffee Break - An Imperial Coffee Stout packed with rich, indulgent flavors at 8% ABV. All the beers we tried were excellent. While we didn't get a chance to try the food, we've heard it's a must, so that's on the list for next time. Cheers to finally making it to Smiling Moose Brewery!

We stopped in on a whim after hearing about the spot on the Southside. The sandwiches were okay but not anything that knocked us over. The pasta salad was a 50/50 at the table with some of us really liking it and others saying that they could take it or leave it. The Bourbon Pork was pretty tasty and the Mac n Cheese was a hit. The desserts were a bit much for what we received (skip them next time). The flight was overpriced even for this area. There are better options with better brews in the area. Final point: The food was alright but wasn't anything to go out of the way to stop over.

Cool casual atmosphere right next to a driving range. Service was great and the food overall was good. Pasta salad wasn't super vinegar-y and was nicely seasoned. The falafel was soft and not as crispy as I would've liked but still seasoned well. The shrimp poboy tasted good but isn't the traditional poboy fixings.

Smiling Moose was SO good! I went on a Saturday around 12:30. I was surprised to see a driving range right behind it. I need to come back in warm weather. We were seated immediately. They had a good variety of beers on the menu- I chose the hazy ipa- 5150. It was tasty! They had specials on the food menu but I chose the pierogi grilled cheese off their regular menu. It was SO good!!!! OMG the carmelized onions on it were to die for. I would definitely order it again. All of our food came out quickly and the waitress was super nice. I definitely will be returning!

Burgers are phenomenal. I like how you can walk to the back and hit some golf balls on the practice range. Service was excellent. The atmosphere here is pretty cool.

My husband finally caved and we got to try the smiling moose! Ive only been asking for weeks (since my son started deck hockey). I did sneak in for brews to take over to the deck...shhh! You guys...this place will NOT disappoint! Their burgers and cocktails are fire! If you follow me already, you know I love me a good burger and this place definitely fits the script. If you're in the area, do yourself a favor and stop by for a burger and brew (and hit a couple of golf balls too)! Happy Burger and Brewing! -Love a fellow burger lover

Take a 5 minute drive off PA 228 in Cranberry Township and stop at this hidden little gem to the North. Plenty of parking, friendly staff, quick service. I was focused on the food and BEER do I didn't really pay that much attention to the ambulance. Bartender was chatty. Burger was awesome. Love the blend of cabbage, berry jam, and Thai peanut sauce. Fries were ok.

Onion rings... Beer battered? You be the judge.
    Colin M.

Pains me to start off with a negative review here but my takeout order fell flat to say the least. The cheese sticks were listed as beer battered, and I would eat my hat if they actually were. They were the run-of-the-mill frozen variety with breading. I went with the BBQ sliders and pasta salad and one word sums it up - dry. The burgers were overcooked and the buns were either stale or just plain bad. Considering it was supposed to have grilled onions (they were raw) and BBQ sauce, I'm somewhat astonished how dry they really were. While the pasta salad was adequate, even it suffered from being under-dressed in my opinion. My wife enjoyed her meal with different options and I'd be glad to stop back and eat in to have a beer because it seems like a fun little spot.

As for my main entree I had the impossible burger with the pasta salad that comes as the standard side for their meals.

We go to Recon which is located in the Meeder community. Free parking. Big field outside for kids to run. Phones got charged and I got a green beer. Four of us adults went and there were enough varietals that we each got something different. TVs had sports on and a good mix of indoor and outdoor seating. Outdoor seating was fully open and though my photos don't show it, people were there throughout the afternoon. I enjoyed it and would return. We've been up to the Butler location, but it's been a while and are glad to have one a bit closer.

On a Wednesday evening in July, my fiance and I found ourselves in the Cranberry area. We found…read morethis place and decided to give it a try, as we had never been before. It is also a non-chain establishment, which is a plus in this area. Recon Brewing is located within the Meeder neighborhood of Cranberry. It almost feels like you are in the wrong spot when initially entering, but eventually you stumble upon the "town square" area with a big lawn, several storefronts, and lots of sidewalks, which make it very easy to walk to. Since this is quite literally in the middle of a neighborhood, there is not a dedicated parking lot. However, there are spaces on the street around the entire area where all of the storefronts are. We had no issue finding a spot on this particular night, but I could see it being slightly more challenging if there is a big crowd eating here. We arrived here a little after 7:30, and it was not busy. Our dog was with us, so we opted for seats on the patio. The wait staff came to greet us right away, and were attentive to us throughout the entire evening. Since this is a brewery, we started off with a few beers. I had To Live & Rye, which is a red/amber rye. I appreciated this as an option, as a lot of places do not carry reds or red-adjacents, especially on tap. I enjoyed it, and it was a great sipper throughout the evening. My fiance ordered the Sour Series - Plum. He thought it was okay, but could have been more sour. Since they brew a lot of their own selections, these seem to rotate and switch out pretty frequently, which is a good way to be able to try lots of different brews. For an appetizer, we split the Cheese Curds. The portion, for the price, is okay. They were tasty, and I liked how you could choose whatever dipping sauce you wanted. We chose ranch, and thought it paired well with the curds. We both ordered 10" Personal Size Pizzas for our entrees, which are cut into 6 pieces. I opted for the Hot Honey, which was more of a white-style pizza with chicken on top and drizzled generously with hot honey. My fiance ordered the Peppers & Sausage, which had red pepper, banana pepper, and chunky pieces of sausage. Both had nice flavors, but we were not particularly wow-ed by either pie. The portion was solid for a personal serving, but if there are multiple people in your party, I would order multiple pizzas. Our total bill came out to be just under $50. I do not think this is unreasonable given that we got 2 beers, an appetizer, and two entrees. I think that in terms of overall value, this is very standard compared to similar restaurants and breweries. I loved the ambiance of Recon! If we lived closer to Cranberry, I could see myself coming here weekly, especially when the weather is warm. The patio lights make it such a cozy and warm atmosphere at night. It was not operating during our visit, but there was also a fire pit. There was a ton of seating here overall - both indoors and out. This would be a great spot to meet a large group of people, or just for a night out for two. There is even bar seating on the interior. I can see this being a great spot for the neighborhood to walk to and enjoy often. In terms of activity, there seems to be a lot going on at Recon. Though not anything specifically during our visit, there was a chalkboard advertising their regular events - DJ Trivia every Tuesday, Karaoke every other Thursday, as well as special events - a Comedy Show, Patio Party with music and vendors, and DJ Bingo. I would love to return for an event in the future! Lastly, I love how nice they were to our dog. He got a giant bowl of water with ice in it! The staff and patrons were friendly and welcoming to both us and him, which is a big plus when we bring him along on outings. There was even a donation box inside benefiting the Butler County Humane Society, so I know the treatment of my dog was not an off-chance occurrence. Overall, I enjoyed my first visit to Recon Brewing at Meeder! This truly is the perfect spot to be able to walk to and socialize with neighbors, grab dinner or a drink, and enjoy the atmosphere and ambiance that they provide. Plus, there are plenty of events and fun activities that seem to be happening regularly to keep patrons coming back. The staff were all kind, and we enjoyed our food and drinks. I look forward to another chance to be able to enjoy Recon, hopefully partaking in one of their many events.
