Alabastard. Don't let your looks deceive you, this beer is 100% stout.
    Zachary P.

Came here for lunch on a Sunday afternoon and were the first ones here right after opening. Staff was very friendly and the place was very comfortable with a modern/industrial design. To eat, I had the BBQ pulled pork panini. This had slaw and gouda along with the pork. I was definitely pleased with this option. For sides, the only option was chips. We were given BBQ trips, which I am a fan of, but no other options were offered. The food was given in a timely matter. To drink, I had the Alabastard, a white stout. This was a huge plus for me as I have only seen these in the greater Cleveland area before. The beer was solid, and I enjoyed it. The rest of the beer menu looked good, but coming for lunch after a wedding, with a drive home, no more beer was needed. A little ways from the heart of town, but definitely a worthy stop for a couple brews.

We drove up to Butler from Pittsburgh to brewery hop and our first stop was Recon. I love the Jeep theme as an homage to the Bantam! We arrived and appreciated the ease of the large parking lot to the side. It was a nice day and the garage door was open so we snagged a table near that to enjoy the breeze. The menu has lots of options - snacks, flatbreads and sandwiches. I don't drink beer so I appreciate the fact that they offer wine! My husband enjoyed their beers. Our server recommended he try the Alabastard - it was unique but ended up being his favorite out of the flight he ordered.

We stopped on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. I had their 14 Leatherheads beer, which is an amber lager. It was good. We were not drinking a lot since we had been to a wedding the night before. For lunch, the southwest chicken wrap hit the spot. It was lightly grilled, ad came with a bag of chipotle chips and some pickle slices.

The atmosphere and theme of this restaurant is great! Perfect for fans of Jeeps with signs, grills, and other memorabilia on the walls. But also a casual rustic environment to make anyone feel welcome and comfortable to stay for awhile. The beer selection covers a wide variety of flavors and types, some changing based on the season. I ordered the seasonal cider and was greatly surprised and delighted when it tasted like apple pie. The hint of cinnamon with each sip made this cider easy and refreshing to drink. The food on the other hand is kind of disappointing. We ordered the buffalo chicken dip and chips as an appetizer. While the dip was delicious and had a nice spiciness level, the portion of the dip was small. Not even the small amount of chips in the dish could all have a scoop of dip on them. It also took about 25mins to get our appetizer; however this might have been due to the crowd level that night. I also ordered the Southwest Panini and wasn't really impressed. The turkey was a few deli slices and I had to legitimately look to see if bacon was on it. After opening my sandwich I could see one floppy thin piece of bacon. The chipotle mayo on the panini was good and had a nice small kick that added to the flavor. Overall, the space itself is cool and they serve great drinks, but dont expect anything special for food.

We were super excited to try the newly opened Recon Brewing. We stopped in on a Friday night and Bar and dining area was full so we grabbed a table in the enclosed outdoor seating area. We were happy to have very good service sitting outside. The beers We tried were really delicious. I had The Azote(imperial milk stout), the BRC(double ipa), and the saison(farmhouse ale). I am a stout person and was very impressed with the Azote. It was really everything you want from a good milk stout and the head was super creamy and delicious being on nitro. Because The brewery isn't at full capacity yet with their own beer offerings, they had some other local brews on tap. I also really enjoyed The Fresh Pot of Porter(coffee porter) from Hop Farm brewing in Lawrencville, Pa, however they served it in a snifter, when it was only a 5.5 abv, which confused me. The food was just ok, and on the steep side. The pretzels are the steepest priced pretzels in Butler and you only get 8 small bites for $7. I would not get them again, although the beer cheese was very good. We also tried The margarita flatbread, which was pretty good and a nice size, and the bacon chicken panini. My husband enjoyed the panini and it came with a bag of chips. The interior is beautiful and the outside patio where we sat was very nice. Overall the beer is top notch, and easily some of the best in Butler. The food has a lot of room for improvement, but we did get very good service. Definitely check it out for the beer and snack. I think it will eventually be a really solid spot.

    Good food good beer.

live this place. As a fan of IPA I recomend the BRC. But we tried a flight my husband was a fan of the leather head. The food was really good. I had the taco Flatbread and my husband the BRC chicken sandwich. We would recomend them both. The waitress was top notch. Very attentive and helpful. Will definitely be back.

My recent visit to Stick City Brewery in Mars, PA, left me thoroughly impressed and convinced that this brewery is a standout gem in the local beer scene. From the diverse beer selection to the welcoming ambiance, Stick City Brewery delivers an experience that keeps patrons coming back for more. This may be my all-time favorite visit that has the best setup compared to all of the other places from a theme standpoint. Upon entering Stick City, you're greeted by a vibrant and friendly atmosphere that sets the stage for a memorable visit. The industrial-chic decor and comfortable seating create a relaxed environment, making it the perfect spot to unwind with friends or family. Now, let's talk beer - and Stick City Brewery knows how to brew some exceptional ones. The beer menu is a testament to the brewers' creativity and commitment to quality. From hop-forward IPAs to rich stouts and everything in between, there's a brew for every palate. The rotating taps keep things exciting, encouraging patrons to explore new flavors and find their new favorites. The Pale Ales was my favorite and took a 4 pack home, along with a t-shirt. The outdoor seating area is another highlight, offering a charming space to enjoy your favorite brews al fresco. In the winter or cold months they have a fire going at all times. For those who do not want to sit inside. This is a cool brewery out in the middle of nowhere, about 40 mins north of the city. I recommend stopping here.

We go to Recon which is located in the Meeder community. Free parking. Big field outside for kids to run. Phones got charged and I got a green beer. Outdoor seating was fully open and though my photos don't show it, people were there throughout the afternoon. I enjoyed it and would return. We've been up to the Butler location, but it's been a while and are glad to have one a bit closer.

On a Wednesday evening in July, my fiance and I found ourselves in the Cranberry area. We found…read morethis place and decided to give it a try, as we had never been before. It is also a non-chain establishment, which is a plus in this area. Recon Brewing is located within the Meeder neighborhood of Cranberry. It almost feels like you are in the wrong spot when initially entering, but eventually you stumble upon the "town square" area with a big lawn, several storefronts, and lots of sidewalks, which make it very easy to walk to. Since this is quite literally in the middle of a neighborhood, there is not a dedicated parking lot. However, there are spaces on the street around the entire area where all of the storefronts are. We had no issue finding a spot on this particular night, but I could see it being slightly more challenging if there is a big crowd eating here. We arrived here a little after 7:30, and it was not busy. Our dog was with us, so we opted for seats on the patio. The wait staff came to greet us right away, and were attentive to us throughout the entire evening. Since this is a brewery, we started off with a few beers. I had To Live & Rye, which is a red/amber rye. I appreciated this as an option, as a lot of places do not carry reds or red-adjacents, especially on tap. I enjoyed it, and it was a great sipper throughout the evening. My fiance ordered the Sour Series - Plum. He thought it was okay, but could have been more sour. Since they brew a lot of their own selections, these seem to rotate and switch out pretty frequently, which is a good way to be able to try lots of different brews. For an appetizer, we split the Cheese Curds. The portion, for the price, is okay. They were tasty, and I liked how you could choose whatever dipping sauce you wanted. We chose ranch, and thought it paired well with the curds. We both ordered 10" Personal Size Pizzas for our entrees, which are cut into 6 pieces. I opted for the Hot Honey, which was more of a white-style pizza with chicken on top and drizzled generously with hot honey. My fiance ordered the Peppers & Sausage, which had red pepper, banana pepper, and chunky pieces of sausage. Both had nice flavors, but we were not particularly wow-ed by either pie. The portion was solid for a personal serving, but if there are multiple people in your party, I would order multiple pizzas. Our total bill came out to be just under $50. I do not think this is unreasonable given that we got 2 beers, an appetizer, and two entrees. I think that in terms of overall value, this is very standard compared to similar restaurants and breweries. I loved the ambiance of Recon! If we lived closer to Cranberry, I could see myself coming here weekly, especially when the weather is warm. The patio lights make it such a cozy and warm atmosphere at night. It was not operating during our visit, but there was also a fire pit. There was a ton of seating here overall - both indoors and out. This would be a great spot to meet a large group of people, or just for a night out for two. There is even bar seating on the interior. I can see this being a great spot for the neighborhood to walk to and enjoy often. In terms of activity, there seems to be a lot going on at Recon. Though not anything specifically during our visit, there was a chalkboard advertising their regular events - DJ Trivia every Tuesday, Karaoke every other Thursday, as well as special events - a Comedy Show, Patio Party with music and vendors, and DJ Bingo. I would love to return for an event in the future! Lastly, I love how nice they were to our dog. He got a giant bowl of water with ice in it! The staff and patrons were friendly and welcoming to both us and him, which is a big plus when we bring him along on outings. There was even a donation box inside benefiting the Butler County Humane Society, so I know the treatment of my dog was not an off-chance occurrence. Overall, I enjoyed my first visit to Recon Brewing at Meeder! This truly is the perfect spot to be able to walk to and socialize with neighbors, grab dinner or a drink, and enjoy the atmosphere and ambiance that they provide. Plus, there are plenty of events and fun activities that seem to be happening regularly to keep patrons coming back. The staff were all kind, and we enjoyed our food and drinks. I look forward to another chance to be able to enjoy Recon, hopefully partaking in one of their many events.

I deducted a half point from my review because they do not keep an updated menu on their website. The beer selection is updated regularly, though. We went last week, expecting to have dinner and beer to get us out of the house because we were going winter stir-crazy, and were surprised to find food truck-style offerings from a bbq place instead of our favorite Freedom Farms fare..
