Well Dor-Stop does it again. My wife and I were undecided on brunch and she suggested we head to Dormont for Dor-Stop. I didn't argue, I love this place. She hasn't been here in years however. It was Sunday around 12:30 when we arrived. The tiny restaurant was full, but we put our names on the wait list and only waited 10 minutes before being seated. I had to order the same thing I did last time, the egg combo; two eggs over easy, upgrade to cinnamon apple pancakes and then sausage patties. My wife also did an egg combo, she however had a waffle with strawberries and whipped cream and bacon. I again loved my meal. I swear the cinnamon apple pancakes are the best pancakes I've ever had. The sausage patties were very good too. My wife also loved her waffle, so much so that she said I'm going to finish this thing. But alas, the food was too much for both of us and neither of us was able to finish our meals. The place does a great business and you never wait long for your food. It's crazy how small the kitchen is, but they had 4 guys working hard in there. I will most definitely be back.

It had been quite a while since I was able to make it to Dor-Stop, and finding an opportunity in a weekday was the excuse I needed. The restaurant had a few guests but they certainly weren't busy. My waitress was incredibly friendly and efficient while keeping my coffee hot. The eggs and sausage were both perfectly cooked but I found the pancakes to be incredibly disappointing as they were way too dense and chewy. The other downside being it took almost 30 minutes for my meal to come out despite the minimal crowd.

5/3/25 Ate List: Western Omlette - 8.7 German Potato Pancakes - 8.4 If you want the "homey" neighborhood diner experience, look no further. Every time I stop in, it's a reminder of what every town needs more of (always). Every dish I've gotten here has been incredible. Western Omlette, cooked perfectly, great portion size. Tried Grits for the very first time, tasty, have nothing to compare them to but they were solid. And the German Potato Pancakes were amazing. Did not need/want the sour cream or apple sauce here but if those strike your fancy, could see those enhancing your experience. Dor-Stop is a top 5 breakfast in town for me.

The waitress was very friendly. I thought the portions were small for the price. But the food was delicious. Very limited street parking.

Tried this place for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. Gives a diner vibe and is quite quaint. We were greeted and seated right away. Our waitress was friendly and full of energy. She took good care of us while we were there. I ordered the potato pancake breakfast with dippy eggs and toast. The portions were huge! Everything was delicious. I highly recommend giving this place a try.

We got lucky and we're seated immediately. It's a little loud and chaotic so if you don't like that vibe, might not be the place for you. But our waitress was very nice and we both enjoyed our food. Would love to come back and try their pancakes and waffles because I've heard good things.

Went in before 10 am rush. Sat immediately the small town diner feel is spot on. Coffee was diner quality, food was solid and the service attentive. Notable is the Raspberry FT definitely worth a try as we will be back.

A friend and I decided to stop by after a morning run. We thought they would be super busy for a Saturday morning at 11 am but it wasn't too bad. I ordered the Raspberry French Toast with sausage and it was absolutely delicious. It was sweet but not too sweet and had a nice crunch to it. My friend got an omelette with toast and fruit. She liked her omelette a lot. The inside is like a typical diner but very homey. Our server was friendly and the food came out in a reasonable time. This is my second time visiting so I will for sure be back again.

The Dor-Stop deserves its reputation as one of the best diners in PA. The staff is always friendly and welcoming--even when there's a line out the door--and the food is mouth wateringly good. I would eat breakfast here every single day if I could. I always recommend the home fries and french toast, but you can't go wrong with anything on the menu here!

Restaurant deco is very cool with a huge Guy Fieri mural on the wall. Service was great. Got the "what Guy had" which was delicious. Also had the steak and eggs which he did not enjoy, meat was overcooked and dry.

Such a cute place and good music and service If you're on the hunt for a breakfast spot with heaps of charm, look no further than this gem on the corner! Inside, you're greeted by a trendy vibe with a cool grass wall, vibrant graffiti art, and neon lights that set the perfect mood. The spicy chicken omelette didn't quite deliver the heat I expected, but a dash of hot sauce did the trick! The blueberry pancakes were delightfully fluffy and packed with just the right amount of berries. And let me tell you, the potato pancakes were a revelation--sweet and savory in perfect harmony. While the coffee was pretty standard, it didn't dampen my enthusiasm for this place. It feels like a beloved local haunt where you could easily imagine rolling out of bed on a weekend morning for a delicious breakfast. Just a heads up: they don't serve lunch on weekends, so plan your visit accordingly!

The pancake is a must!!! I got the breakfast burrito it was good. I wanted something savory. But I wish I got a side of potatoes instead of the salad. There was a bit of a wait but it was worth it.

Delicious egg combo breakfast with veggie chorizo and Nutella hot cakes.

This is such a high-quality breakfast and lunch spot, on Potomac Ave. across from Moonlit Burgers. I'd say it's under the radar because it feels a bit tucked away here in Dormont and doesn't get the social media love of some other places, but there is also the fact that Guy Fieri put this place on the map years back with his visit for Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. The restaurant leans into that with Guy's picture in spots on the menu and a big mural of him on the wall. But what you really want to know is, how is the food? It's very solid diner food with some indulgent touches like specialty hot cakes and French toast that will make you feel like you're having something extra special. Service is efficient, friendly and fast. The inside is smallish and there are a few outdoor tables, but this is a very no-frills kind of place and it is fairly priced. I would recommend going for something they have marked as a Dor-Stop favorite as you just can't go wrong -- think the decadent raspberry French toast or one of their many varieties of Eggs Benedict. You can add some of the specialty hotcakes on to another breakfast like the egg combo if you just can't choose, and I appreciate that they offer a protein option like veggie chorizo!

He was courteous, well spoken and friendly. We sat there for about 10-12 minutes. No one approached the table. We looked over to what appeared to be a bar area and we saw two servers standing there talking and showing each other their phones. My wife said, "With our luck, one of those two is our server." Sure enough, when they were finally done talking, one came over to our table....no smile and a big audible sigh. She asked what we wanted to drink, we gave our order and she returned with our beverages. After another 10 minute wait she came back to take our order. When asked about a certain dish, came another big sigh, eye roll and and a rote description of said dish. The food arrived and one of the orders was wrong. Another wait to get her attention. We asked for the item to be redone as we had ordered it. And she even asked how we wanted it! You got it...another eye roll and a big sigh. At least she was well oxygenated! The dish came back with the very same results. On that issue we gave up. Then came the wait for the check. Once again the two servers were chatting, no heads turned to check on their tables. My son went over to get the check. When the check arrived, it was attitude city. She accused us of picking on her because she was only a server. It's obviously how she saw herself. We then asked for the manager who was quick to side with the server. She said that nothing seemed to satisfy us and that we had a problem. IN SHARP CONTRAST. I have been to the Speckled Egg on the South Side many times. From the Host/Hostess to the servers to the bus staff, everyone had a smile, chatted with their customers, laughed and it was always a great experience. The manager came over since he recognized me from being there many times and we chatted for a minute. We are talking Night and Day. Completely two different experiences from server to management styles. To me there is only one Speckled Egg and one complete waste of time (Downtown).
