Kelly O's Kelly O'S Lil Bite and freshly squeezed orange juice
Sarah S.

Kelly O's Diner was a true diner experience. It has more seating than it appears from the outside but busy on the weekends! This was my first time here, on a Sunday morning. We lucked out with a booth. There's a good variety of traditional diner style food options. It's very Pittsburgh - themed! My meal was the perfect amount of food (the Kelly O's Lil Bite and a side of grits). All of the food items were cooked perfectly and The fresh squeezed orange juice is a must try! The waitress was very friendly. I love that they have the specials playing on the screens inside. Will definitely be back.

When in the Strip District make sure to stop by for an AWESOME breakfast. Staff is super cool and attentive. Prices are fair but the food is worth more yummy!

Kelly O'S Lil Bite, Famous Grilled Cinnamon Roll

While visiting the city for college tours, we were looking for breakfast places with ample parking on premise and found this place by happenstance. This place was busy serving breakfast on Saturday and we immediately knew this was the place where we could get in and out quickly. The waitresses were hustling and kitchen was fast. It's a small place with quirky diner ambiance. The orange juice is squeezed freshly and the best I've ever had. I would buy a gallon to go if it was available. Just try it. My husband and teenage son got the power play breakfast. To say the omelette was huge is an understatement. My teenager couldn't even eat the whole thing. I tried the grilled cinnamon roll and it was just ok. I was expecting to taste cinnamon and didn't. The little Kelly breakfast was good. I would go here again for the hometown food feeling.

The unique haluski plate saved this place, but it was quite a let down. Uninviting place, bright lighting, and very slow service. Nothing special about the food we tried, and very confused about the many recommendations. 2.5 stars.

My boyfriend loves trying places that are on the food network. We came across this place for a Sunday morning (there are three locations). We had to wait in a line that went out the door at ten am ish. That popular! The wait wasn't bad - the place is hopping! Very diner-style and cozy, with your vintage styled tables and colorful plates. There is an outdoor patio to sit at. He got the Pittsburgh Benedict (eggs Benedict over pierogi, kielbasa and potatoes). I got the western omelette. He got a black coffee and a straight shot of espresso. I had a latte. Food was so good, fresh, unique personal flavor and large portions. Definitely will come through while in town again.

Omelette and home fries

The quintessential neighborhood old-school diner experience. It was popping on a Monday at 10 am, so I can't imagine what the weekends would be like. In true Pittsburgh style, the waitresses are very efficient and will call you "hon" (even if you are much older than them). Kelly O's claim to fame is an appearance on Diners, Drive Ins and Dives. The Philly cheesesteak omelette was jam packed with gooey cheese, perfectly cooked steak and crisp veggies. The home fries needed salt, but were nicely crispy. Orange juice is fresh squeezed to order. Portions are large - you will not leave hungry. They have a small parking lot and do not take reservations.

Pretty cool diner visited by Guy Fieri . Not too busy this past Monday, however there was some confusion regarding seating (one waitress said our table was ready , the other waitress said no.. it got figured out eventually ) . I ordered a kielbasa omelette and my companion ordered the chicken fried steak . Food came out in generous portions and fast . Quite tasty . Vibe is fun but hectic . A solid diner .

I don't know what the hype of this place is all about. The food was average at best. The home fries were actually chunks of potatoes which was awesome, outside of that there are far better diners. If you want the true pittsburgh mom service this is def the place to come, yikes!

Friendly staff and great ambiance. Good selection of food at reasonable prices. My breakfast was delicious.

Chose to come here for breakfast while visiting the area due to it being featured on Triple D. Can't say we were overly impressed, but it wasn't bad. Grits were hard, we've had better corned beef hash, and our waitress wasn't the friendliest.

stopped by for brunch! this place has such a great variety of menu items, and everything we had was delicious. We were definitely feeling more of a lunch vibe this day rather than bfast, but i've heard amazing things about their scramble and their waffles! will def be back to try more items.

Very good breakfast. You may have seen about it from diners drive ins and dives. If so you'll find a good breakfast/lunch with a few spins on classic breakfast. I like it because while it's busy it's still faster to seating than Pamela's in the strip (also good, just has been a long wait for us). I would go again.

I can never say enough great things about this diner! The service is incredible - with a line for 4 or 5 groups ahead of us they were able to seat us within 10 minutes and had our food out to us in less than 15 minutes with coffee refills sooner than we could ask! Even with a packed house the service was thoughtful and timely - I saw a busser even get under the table to grab dropped straw wrappers and scraps!!! The food is great every time - I've been bringing my out of town friends here and it never disappoints. I had the philly steak on the original breakfast sandwich and it's as good as it sounds. The servers mesh well and give the diner a community vibe as they work like cogs in a machine. I love this place and will come back often as possible (which helps that it can be affordable for city/strip district breakfast).

It's a smash burger so if you're hungry, maybe get a double the onions that come with it are grilled, which was a nice surprise and the sauce they put on the burger was really good. The hotdog had a nice snap to it which I don't care either way, but I know some people are big on that the chili had no beans which is the only way to have it when it comes to a hotdog or french fries and it's made by the local restaurant up the street brothMonger. Everything is made fresh to order even the fries. And the chocolate milkshake was made with actual chocolate ice cream same with vanilla and strawberry. I'll definitely be back to try the onion rings because they looked delicious and served with ranch from a local spot.

The Speckled Egg provided the upscale and elevated breakfast, that was a nice contrast to the rustic and local breakfast we had the next day. Our waitress was friendly and professional. He was courteous, well spoken and friendly. We sat there for about 10-12 minutes. No one approached the table. We looked over to what appeared to be a bar area and we saw two servers standing there talking and showing each other their phones. My wife said, "With our luck, one of those two is our server." Sure enough, when they were finally done talking, one came over to our table....no smile and a big audible sigh. She asked what we wanted to drink, we gave our order and she returned with our beverages. After another 10 minute wait she came back to take our order. When asked about a certain dish, came another big sigh, eye roll and and a rote description of said dish. The food arrived and one of the orders was wrong. Another wait to get her attention. We asked for the item to be redone as we had ordered it. And she even asked how we wanted it! You got it...another eye roll and a big sigh. At least she was well oxygenated! The dish came back with the very same results. On that issue we gave up. Then came the wait for the check. Once again the two servers were chatting, no heads turned to check on their tables. My son went over to get the check. When the check arrived, it was attitude city. She accused us of picking on her because she was only a server. It's obviously how she saw herself. We then asked for the manager who was quick to side with the server. She said that nothing seemed to satisfy us and that we had a problem. IN SHARP CONTRAST. I have been to the Speckled Egg on the South Side many times. From the Host/Hostess to the servers to the bus staff, everyone had a smile, chatted with their customers, laughed and it was always a great experience. The manager came over since he recognized me from being there many times and we chatted for a minute. We are talking Night and Day. Completely two different experiences from server to management styles. To me there is only one Speckled Egg and one complete waste of time (Downtown).

When I brought concerns that we had been pushed down the list 3 times for other parties. She responded "well, how do you know that" to which I responded "we watched you take their names down after ours and sit them before us".
