We stumbled upon this cute and quaint local bar when looking for somewhere in the area for a later dinner. At 830pm on a Monday, the bar had about 6 patrons and two of the high tops were occupied. We joined the bar crowd and were greeted by two friendly bartenders. We ordered $12/12 buffalo garlic wings, a double smashburger with tots, and a reuben with onion rings. The wings came out in about 10 mins, were crispy, and covered in bright orange buffalo sauce. They had a good kick and plenty of flavor. Shortly after came out our entrees. Both were very visually appealing, oozing with cheese, and very fairly portioned. The burger was juicy, hefty, and had a bun that held up to it. I loved the crispy tots. My bf said the reuben on marble rye was delicious and his onion rings were fried perfectly. They have a good amount of indoor seating as well as a few small tables out front and a back patio. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in the area.

This is such a good restaurant for its location! It's tucked away in a road and not too noticeable but when i went on a friday night it was decently crowded! The wait staff was friendly and the food was good! Definetly will return some point soon!

Super cute neighborhood bar and grill.  Local spot that focuses on serving high quality food in a friendly and fun atmosphere.  They are located in Castle Shannon in the South Hills of Pittsburgh.  Open seven days a week.  They have happy hour every Monday to Friday 4p-6p!  Also offering daily features that consist of desserts, wing flavors, soups, and more!  They offer online ordering which is super nice and convenient.  Indoor and outdoor dining is available.  Loved sitting on their patio and enjoying a buffalo chicken wrap and some s'mores nachos. Service was okay, for how busy they were I would have expected more attentiveness.

If you're looking for good bar food, come here! They have a parking lot behind them, as well as some street parking. They also have a small back patio, which was nice!! That's where we sat this day. Our waitress was very nice, answered questions, joked around. I ordered a long island iced tea, which was good! The hot pepper cheese balls were delish. Pittsburgh salad was also very good. I would order all food again, if in the mood. DEFINITELY THEM CHEESE BALLS!

Good (and huge!) burger. This was a new area for me to explore as I live in the city and was down in the area. Nice bar and restaurant.

The zucchini planks were the star of the show with the spinach artichoke dip the runner up. The Marinara sauce on the crispy zucchini hit the spot. The artichoke dip with a hearty portion with plenty of crispy pitas. The crispiness of the pita made eating the dip that much more enjoyable. The chicken quesadillas were loaded with chicken but the tortilla was soft. Had it been crisp, it very well could have been the star of the show. Pens won in dominating fashion and the Bucos handled their business also. The saloon is a laid back sports bar to kick back with friends or family. Thanks for a rare opportunity to enjoy a beer and meal with my sister and dad! I recommend the Saloon to anyone looking for a good time and a beer while taking in a game or two.

They do not take reservations and we joked about there being a line. Well, when we showed up 10 minutes before opening, there was indeed a line. However, we went on Valentine's Day to one of the only GF places in the city, so that was to be expected. They were able to accommodate our party of seven no problem, and the staff were so friendly. Our server was amazing. One of our party members is hard to please, but our waiter was on top of it! We ordered a variety of apps for the table - wings, brussel sprouts, and fried provolone. All tasted fantastic. My husband and I agreed we would come just for the wings alone. Perfect smokey flavor. We got the hot buffalo garlic and they weren't super spicy. The marinara with the fried provolone was creamy and delicious. The Brussels were your standard side that every place has with the balsamic glaze. Not mushy at all and the garlic aioli was the best touch. We saw the food coming out and had to make room... the portions are huge! I could only finish half my burger and took the rest home. It was juicy, full of flavor, and easy to handle. Sometimes when you get a massive burger it ends up so sloppy and the toppings just slide off. Not with this! Perfectly stacked and ready to be devoured. The fries were a little greasy but still crispy. They earned my crisp seal of approval! The drinks were strong and everybody loved them. I got the blushing lady and it was sweet but not overly sweet and I could actually taste the spirits. Fantastic bar food options for people who are GF. We visited for the first time because someone in our group was GF and we would definitely go back!

Another thing to note is the servers were incredibly nice and helpful! My only complaint is the service was a little slow, but they were really busy. Highly recommend!!

They're located in Dormont, which makes this a walkable brewery for me (thanks to having friends and family in the area!). A friend and I did indeed walk over to catch up on a recent Friday. The place was surprisingly quiet - my friend mentioned that they get VERY busy during the summer, when people attend events across the road and want to buy beer to go with their market and/or food truck purchases. Speaking of food trucks, Hibachi Lou was parked out front on this particular Friday. So my friend and I got our hibachi orders at the truck out front; ordered our beer and/or cider from the bar; and took everything to a table in Back Alley's dining area to enjoy. While the place wasn't packed it wasn't empty, either; families and groups of friends were playing board games at every other table or so. So, what did I think about the drinks? I'm really glad Back Alley had Arsenal Cider on tap - I ordered a glass as my "sweet treat"/dessert after dinner. First though, I decided to try a beer. Back Alley, if you see this: I'm a BIG fan of sour beers and would order those if they're on the menu in the future! As of now though, no sour beers, so I ordered a "Snowed In" - Back Alley's spiced winter ale. It was a dark beer with a blend of cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, ginger, hence the "spiced" moniker. While not something I normally seek out, I really enjoyed it and am glad I tried it! Altogether, it was a 10/10 experience - I'm so glad my friend and I came here for our Friday together. I'll be back!
