We like to go to this little dive bar while we wait for my kid to be done with football. We pop in and the bar tenders know what to make us. Their margaritas are pretty good and the bar tenders are very friendly. They have gluten free buns but I've never tried their burgers or anything like that. Its on the list to try but we ALWAYS get their Buffalo Chicken Dip with veggies. It is SOOOOO good! Probably one of the best I've tried around here. I highly recommend it. read more

I'm not sure what all the glowing reviews are about. Kim was a very good server/bartender. Drink glasses were smaller(as many places do now) the pour was on the smaller side. We both had smash burgers. I get the whole smash burger thing. It's not my favorite style, as a tavern burger to me is much more flavorful. But my buddy and I both had them and they were very very dry and the cheese was almost un-noticeable. I have not been there in almost 10 years, and I'm not sure if I'd go back. Love the location, and it was nice to see free parking on spot (although we didn't see it while parking, and had a little walk) loved all the specials they had on their chalkboard. We stumbled upon this cute and quaint local bar when looking for somewhere in the area for a later dinner. At 830pm on a Monday, the bar had about 6 patrons and two of the high tops were occupied. We joined the bar crowd and were greeted by two friendly bartenders. We ordered $12/12 buffalo garlic wings, a double smashburger with tots, and a reuben with onion rings. The wings came out in about 10 mins, were crispy, and covered in bright orange buffalo sauce. They had a good kick and plenty of flavor. Shortly after came out our entrees. Both were very visually appealing, oozing with cheese, and very fairly portioned. The burger was juicy, hefty, and had a bun that held up to it. I loved the crispy tots. My bf said the reuben on marble rye was delicious and his onion rings were fried perfectly. They have a good amount of indoor seating as well as a few small tables out front and a back patio. If you're looking for good bar food, come here! They have a parking lot behind them, as well as some street parking. They also have a small back patio, which was nice!! That's where we sat this day. Our waitress was very nice, answered questions, joked around. I ordered a long island iced tea, which was good! The hot pepper cheese balls were delish. Pittsburgh salad was also very good. We just moved to the area, and were looking for a lunch spot after shopping. I immediately noticed their neon green sign, which is awesome. The main door is a stained glass made by a local artist depicting a sandwich and a beer. Character everywhere so far! Small, comfortable, welcoming bar area with patrons that were all smiling and looking like that come here a lot. It's plastered with Pittsburgh art by local artists and also vintage-looking beer signs and the like. There is a modest inside dining area where we sat with my 4yo daughter. Another family with young kids eating there. Good, fast service! Everything we had came hot and fresh! Hand battered fish and onion rings. I got the shrimp po boy with side of onion rings. Very good, filling and fresh. We'll definitely be back many more times! read more

Pittsburgh has me with the 4 star reviews! Come for the trivia leave with a deep fried tummy full of yummy. I know i know this is another eroginously positive review that did not end in a 5 star happy ending but I cannot just hand out Five star reviews! We will be back at willow station time and time again because it is consistent. Wings are not my favorite in town but they might be yours, i like mine a little more deep fried / breaded these were a little more naked - oh note this will be a highly joint review combining some visit - on the pictured review we got chicken tenders they were delicious, the fried here are top tier very good, i have also gotten fried fish here also very good me lady the veg head has gotten salads here they are salads at a sports bar so keep your imagineation open but they do the tick. Happened to be driving through and stopped for lunch and boy am I glad that we did! The charming bar and restaurant is outfitted with Pittsburgh pride on the walls and beautiful stained glass windows on the doors. The staff was exceptional, attentive, and very friendly and the food was incredible! You can tell they take a lot of pride in their product and their thoughtfulness doesn't go unnoticed. (They use compostable cups for their sauces and dressings!) definitely will be coming back to try more items! read more

Willow Station is a new restaurant in Castle Shannon that offers good bar food and friendly service. They are accommodating to groups of all sizes. Last weekend I got the grilled cheese, fries, and their special soup of the day which had kale, sausage, vegetables and a tomato-based sauce. The soup was great! The fries are not fresh cut but they're the fries that I love! Super crispy and I asked for ranch, of course. We had a large church group of about 12, and Dom brought out some extra fries since he thought the sammies didn't come out with enough :) and event brought us a sampling of their bread pudding for dessert. The place has some new light gray paint on the walls and the old chalk boards are gone. There are about 8 beers on tap with some local breweries available. The menu has a few appetizers, about 6 sandwiches or a burger and 2 salads. Asked about the wings. At $10 you get whole wings by the pound and there are a few flavors. Did not order the wings, but they looked good (at the next table). My rueben sandwich came with a side and I had the tater tots. My sandwich and the tater tots were good. My companion had a burger that he enjoyed and had French fries. The fries had some sort of a seasoning on them and neither of us really thought we would order next time we stop in. I was so pleasantly surprised by this place! Wasn't sure what to expect after Someone Else's Bar moved out, but this was a great replacement. First of all, they carry local beer (we had Spoonwood Killer Diller) and the price for drafts were definitely reasonable. All the food was really good, bar food, but good bar food. Lastly, they have a little patio to sit outside with a few high top tables and it was a great environment. Overall, we were definitely impressed and will be back.
