Moonlit Burger - Double
Rachel S.

Our first time to moonlit burgers was awesome!! We enjoyed our food - got the moonlit double cheeseburger and the fried chicken sandwich. I thought - oh should I not get the fried chicken sandwich at the burger joint...but I did not regret it at all! Juicy fried chicken, crispy breading, tasty slaw. My husband preferred the chicken sandwich to his burger. Fries are shoestring and well seasoned. Service was SLOW but friendly. We sat at the bar to be helped quicker, but it still was slow. Good positive vibes from the staff though. Soooo many people just ordering shakes and ice cream. I feel like they need to figure out a better system.

Mmm came in for a first time and first customer of the day, at 4:00 pm had to ask for instructions after finding a booth, menu on wall, walk to register for service. Food was disappointing. Ambiance food tray on walls. I want to give a good review.

We had a great visit at moonlit burgers! The milkshakes are always amazing. The portions were very large! Coming after happy hour it was definitely crowded and there were a bit of a wait but was worth it. We thought they were speedy after ordering and we liked the hustle and bustle of the place.

I stopped by this Moonlit Burger location to take advantage of the Steeler Sunday $7 Double special. The service was super quick ordering at the counter. The burger and fries are absolutely delicious. I loved the shoestring fries! The staff were busy taking care of their customers. Moonlit has a reward program and that is a bonus. Next time, I look forward to treating myself to a milkshake!

Super good smash burger really delicious. Fries are shoestring, not my favorite but good quality and tasted good. The girl at the counter was very friendly and nice. The building is cl2an and easy to find. Parking can be tough.

Revisited the other day. The burgers here are great, just a delicious smash burger. The fries this time were a bit of a let down. You get a ton, but I'll skip them next go around. Hope to get a shake next time too. Fast service and ample street parking available.

Moonlit Burgers Dormont GOOD: Burger tasted pretty good, cooked perfect. Service was friendly and fast BAD: Value for the money "where's the beef?" Shake was far too small for the price and syrupy sweet. Moonlit burgers in Dormont had good reviews and good pictures of burgers, so I was eager to try it. My double bacon cheeseburger did taste good. It came out fast and they did cook it perfectly. My problem with Moonlit burgers is when the burger patties are smashed so thin you basically get four ounces between two patties at most for well over thirteen dollars - just a burger, no fries. Additionally, my shake seemed between 6-8 ounces, very small, and it was so sweet. It tasted like syrup; I had to stop consuming. I don't mind paying 21 dollars for a generous delicious burger and a large shake, but twenty one dollars for a tiny shake, and maybe four ounces of beef just doesn't cut it. I know this place is popular, but you still need to supply value for the dollar.

First time here after seeing all the reviews on Tic Toc! I grew up in this area and love the transformation of Dormont!! Moonlit Burgers is a fun, casual place with eclectic vibe and super friendly staff! The menu is simple and to the point and they offer everything a classic burger joint should have! There's a great bar (that even serves milkshakes) to go along with the small but fun dining room!! We had a double Bacon Double Cheese Burger($13) double patty, iceberg lettuce, tomato, sweet onion, garlic dijonnaise, martin's potato roll and Moon Bird Chicken Sandwich ($14) pickle brined chicken breast, smashville hot sauce, cabbage & jalapeno slaw, kosher dill pickles, signature moon sauce, martin's potato roll. Dormont is a great little area to walk around after a great dining experience at Moonlit Burgers!! Reminds me of Portland Oregon...

Smash burgers and the Smash Fries

Moonlit is a favorite spot of ours for smash burgers in the South Hills. My favorite menu item is their Smash Fries - they are exactly like the burger (meat and all), but piled on their shoe string fries. So good! Prices are fair, but we love going during the Steeler games when they run a $6 smash burger special for dine-in. The atmosphere is casual, and you order at the counter and your food is ready shortly after.

We've been somewhat disappointed with the food in Pittsburgh, but this place turned things around. The service is very friendly and quick. The burgers are delicious and substantial. We definitely got full. The environment is relaxed and friendly.

I actually dream of Moonlit Burgers haha! Gosh, I love this place. The smash burgers are SO good - super thin with crispy edges. I love the Martin's potato roll bun. I love the moon sauce. I love the shoestring fries. One of my favorite places! To top it off, they have a full bar and serve Millie's ice cream (yes, you can get a boozy milkshake). They have gluten free options as well as vegetarian options! You order at a counter and then are given a table number where they deliver your food to you. Will always recommend this spot for a delish smash burger!

Classic Moonlit Burger - Double and fries

Moonlit truly never misses! By far the best smash burgers I have had in Pittsburgh. It is always executed perfectly with that amazing grill flavor. And don't even get me started on the soft, pillowy bun. You definitely have to eat the fries when they're hot and fresh since they're thin, but they're addicting so it's not a hard task! Moonlit always hits the spot, any time I'm craving a burger this is the only place to be. Truly can't recommend enough!

For beers we had each a lager and a dunkel, very good offerings that came in nice cone-shaped glassware - definitely out of the ordinary. It started in trying to go to the south side location but it was just a window, and I really wanted to experience the full outing so we doubled back to the strip and Larryville. Anyway - we sat down and were helped immediately by a very animated waitress with red hair? Place is very industrial - large signage and some tv's - kind of like a Buffalo Wild Wings. I ordered the double stack make your own with beef, regular bun, cheddar, bacon and burgher sauce. As my side I swapped for mac and cheese. The food came out fairly quick. The burger was VERY GOOD. Seasoned nicely, stacked high, and really just a solid burger. I added an extra side of the burgher sauce as well to dunk the burger in which was really good too. The macaroni was good - just wasn't hot. The cheese sauce was nice and flavorful, not bland at all Overall - I would come back here. And I would recommend.

I'm positive that if I went back to the shop they would've remedied the situation, but I didn't feel it was necessary! The sandwich we did end up with was good as well, unsure which one it was though. Very fair prices, and our dog was so happy we brought him home a bone as well! Other customers were inside the store, but the employees in the store served us promptly and politely. We saw cuts of beef, pork, lamb, and poultry as well as sandwiches, soups, spices, maple syrup, etcetera. We did not see as many unique meats as larger butcher shops sell. Prices were OK. We bought beef skewers and cooked them at home. We thought that the quality of the meat could have been better, but we liked the juiciness and flavors.

The sauce is weak. The fact that the wings are crispy and fried and 100% dead-on makes up for the weak sauce. All things considered, 4.2. Could be 4.6 to 4.8 with decent sauce. In retrospect, having tasted the sauce as a side (below) I think they tossed the wings in the sauce when they were too hot, kind of denatured things, and got too much oil in it. The sauce is actually very good, and these wings could have been a notch or two better if they had let them cool for just a hot second before tossing them. These wings have the potential to be some of the very best in the city. - Onion rings here are just absolutely perfect. Think of the best a Burger King onion ring could be, and these are four notches up from that. - The french fries are OK. - The side of buffalo sauce that they brought us from the kitchen is so much better than how the wings came out; I am presuming that the wings were tossed in the sauce too hot, and not enough. These guys actually have a great buffalo sauce. - I got the Smashburger. Cheese, lettuce, pickles and their special sauce. No substitutions permitted. "It's really good. How can you go wrong with bacon and egg on a burger?" Unfortunately, restaurant was out of the cheese sauce tonight.
