I was looking for a good smashburger and this one was decent. I wouldn't say it was my favorite but it wasn't bad by any means. My waffle fries were a little hard. The place is clean and seating is plentiful. Service was friendly and quick.
Delicious food, warm atmosphere, great people! I got the heater cheesesteak and it was delicious. 10/10 will return.
Another quality smash burger option in the northside. Provides all the smash burger qualities that you expect. Crispy salted burger, melty cheese, sauce and soft bun. Very quick and friendly service and a very good price point. My only complaint(which is kind of big in Pittsburgh) no Heinz ketchup. I heard that maybe this was a delivery issue but also heard that it's a permanent thing. Anyway, I'm from here and I need my Heinz(even with the burger sauce). Anyway the burger was very strong but I couldn't order fries due to the aforementioned ketchup debacle ;). Definitely stop by and try this burger. Then grab a beer at the Park House.
Rejoice - North Side over in Allegheny East has a great smash burger joint. The orange-colored creamy "shack sauce" they put on the burger had great flavor that's hard to describe (not sure what it is exactly...maybe mayo mixed with ketchup and garlic, garlic / onion powder - who knows?) The fries weren't bad; maybe a little more seasoning (but some people don't want too much if they're already using ketchup; I get that). They also have a nice variety of soda there. Service was decent. I came on a Friday afternoon around 11 40, hoping to eat in, but they were slammed with a group that got in just before me, and since they only have seven or eight seats available at the bar, made it to-go. Owner seemed friendly, made conversation with the groups inside, and even a colorful joke / comment or two that made me chuckle while waiting on the food. I'd love to come.back and try more from this place.
I came here randomly on a Saturday while I was running errands. I didn't even know this place was here but was looking for something quick. I got a chili cheese dog and a side of cheese fries. Everything was cooked to order and delicious. The space is pretty small with mostly counter seating, but they are very accommodating. A couple came in with their small child and the employees were quick to offer a high chair and options to make sure the seating worked for them. Overall, a great experience and I will definitely be back to try a smash burger! They looked really good as they came out for other orders.
My husband and I are big smash burger fans and have frequented another smash burger joint in the greater Pittsburgh area that we absolutely love. We decided to give this place a try when we saw a reel about it on Instagram. We tried the signature burger and were not terribly impressed as compared to our favorite smash burger. Was it good? Sure! Was it so good we are dreaming of our next visit? Maybe not. We may be wrong, but ingredients tasted store bought (such as the bun) and therefore didn't feel "special" The price was right and we'd love to see this place succeed as we know several restaurants have been in and out of there in the recent years! Service was a little slow with only one person working, but we weren't in a big hurry. It was clean and the ambiance was nice as well!
After a long day in the city, we needed some to go dinner to take back to our friends house. We made an amazing pick with The Smash Shack. The place is little inside but the flavors are big! We all got burgers and fries to take home...we all wished we would have gotten more. The meat was perfect...the bun was a great touch!
Not the best pictures but even after a 15 minute ride home the patties were crispy nowhere in Pgh has crispy edges like these smash burgers!! Definitely recommend trying
Ordered the "Heater" cheesesteak and chicken caesar wrap for a quick takeout lunch. The online ordering was both easy and convenient. The dressing on the wrap was really good tasting. The Cheesesteak was delicious and even though it is called the heater, I think it could have used something more for that spicy flavor. It was busy picking up and tight in a smaller space. I will definitely be back to try the smashed burgers!
The second you walk in, you can tell this is major neighborhood vibes. I imagine this is exactly what Bob's Burger is in real life. Everyone in there was fucking awesome. Just beyond friendly and welcoming. Even ran into a regular named Tarzan (swear to fucking god) who made this experience tremendously better The owners were so friendly. Gave all the recs, said things they even have they weren't crazy on, things they love, knew everyone, treated you like you were the family (not the ass kissing way) and that again was what just made this even better The burgers. Will and I messed up at first so I waited about 10min before my burger to bite into it. I wanted more juice but I knew it cooked way more just sitting. When the second burger came out and we had fresh, FUCKING smacked. Juicy as all hell, perfect amount of smash, good quality etc. Personally would like them seasoned a little bit more We got the the Truffalo Soldier. Blue cheese crumbs, truffle mayo on top and a bacon onion jam on the bottom. Truffle mayo awesome of course but that bacon onion jam holy shit. Soak your buns in that. Insane. Wish I had more of those on each, I love my burgers drenched with sauces The Smash Shack. Classic smash burger. Good meat makes it yes but a solid smash sauce is what really carries it. They did not miss there. Absolute must on the side to dip The cheesesteak was the sleeper here. The pickled red onions great, onions/peppers always a must, homemade cheese sauce right amount but the real star are those pickled jalapeños. Such a great spiciness to them to pair with the cheese THE RANCH. SHUT THE FUCK UP. ALLLL RANCH MUST BE SOUR CREAM BASE. They also had some mayo in there I was getting hints of and an insane amount of dill. I HATE dill. Absolutely loved theirs. I could eat just that ranch when I go and be happy Lastly homemade waffle fries. Thank you for that and not boring ass shoe string
God damn, these guys make an outstanding smash burger. I had Truffalo Soldier and I was amazed at the perfect texture and flavor of this burger. Don't miss this little place on the North Side! We shall return!!!
I had been dying to try Smash Shack and the stars aligned today after attending the duck derby. We were so glad we did. Wow! This was (and I don't take this lightly) by far, the best smash burger that I have ever had. I'm obsessed with smash burgers and have tried them all over town. I got the second one with blue cheese, truffle mayo and bacon onion jam. All of it tasted amazing but the truffle mayo really made it. All the ingredients really paired well together. We also had crispy waffle fries with I think Parmesan cheese which was soooooo good. The owner was very nice and made sure that everyone was doing well and enjoyed the food. She also said that she also owns Fat Butcher which makes sense why the meat is so good. We definitely did. I'll be counting the days until I can come back and have that delicious food again. read more

Food was amazing! Everything is prepared fresh and you can see the heart and soul put into the shop. Homemade sauces, fresh produce, and simple yet perfect combinations. The cheesesteak is amazing and a must get! Much cheaper than we expected for the quality. The fries are perfectly crispy, and the bread is airy and flavorful. A must get! read more
