I had been dying to try Smash Shack and the stars aligned today after attending the duck derby. We were so glad we did. Wow! This was (and I don't take this lightly) by far, the best smash burger that I have ever had. I'm obsessed with smash burgers and have tried them all over town. I got the second one with blue cheese, truffle mayo and bacon onion jam. All of it tasted amazing but the truffle mayo really made it. All the ingredients really paired well together. We also had crispy waffle fries with I think Parmesan cheese which was soooooo good. The owner was very nice and made sure that everyone was doing well and enjoyed the food. She also said that she also owns Fat Butcher which makes sense why the meat is so good. We definitely did. I'll be counting the days until I can come back and have that delicious food again. read more

Rejoice - North Side over in Allegheny East has a great smash burger joint. The orange-colored creamy "shack sauce" they put on the burger had great flavor that's hard to describe (not sure what it is exactly...maybe mayo mixed with ketchup and garlic, garlic / onion powder - who knows?) The fries weren't bad; maybe a little more seasoning (but some people don't want too much if they're already using ketchup; I get that). They also have a nice variety of soda there. Service was decent. I came on a Friday afternoon around 11 40, hoping to eat in, but they were slammed with a group that got in just before me, and since they only have seven or eight seats available at the bar, made it to-go. Owner seemed friendly, made conversation with the groups inside, and even a colorful joke / comment or two that made me chuckle while waiting on the food. Very quick and friendly service and a very good price point. My only complaint(which is kind of big in Pittsburgh) no Heinz ketchup. I heard that maybe this was a delivery issue but also heard that it's a permanent thing. Anyway, I'm from here and I need my Heinz(even with the burger sauce). I came here randomly on a Saturday while I was running errands. I didn't even know this place was here but was looking for something quick. I got a chili cheese dog and a side of cheese fries. Everything was cooked to order and delicious. The space is pretty small with mostly counter seating, but they are very accommodating. A couple came in with their small child and the employees were quick to offer a high chair and options to make sure the seating worked for them. Overall, a great experience and I will definitely be back to try a smash burger! They looked really good as they came out for other orders. read more

My husband and I are big smash burger fans and have frequented another smash burger joint in the greater Pittsburgh area that we absolutely love. We decided to give this place a try when we saw a reel about it on Instagram. We tried the signature burger and were not terribly impressed as compared to our favorite smash burger. Was it good? Sure! Was it so good we are dreaming of our next visit? Maybe not. We may be wrong, but ingredients tasted store bought (such as the bun) and therefore didn't feel "special" The price was right and we'd love to see this place succeed as we know several restaurants have been in and out of there in the recent years! Ordered the "Heater" cheesesteak and chicken caesar wrap for a quick takeout lunch. The online ordering was both easy and convenient. The dressing on the wrap was really good tasting. The Cheesesteak was delicious and even though it is called the heater, I think it could have used something more for that spicy flavor. It was busy picking up and tight in a smaller space. The second you walk in, you can tell this is major neighborhood vibes. I imagine this is exactly what Bob's Burger is in real life. Everyone in there was fucking awesome. This place is 10/10. We stopped here after the kids marathon. It has a nice little counter area where you can eat. The staff is amazing; they were really helpful with the order process and checking on us after we got our food. We got the turkey smash burger, truffalo, and smash shack burger. My son declared the shack sauce was the "best thing he'd ever eaten"n and we all agreed the smash burgers were the best we'd ever had. Do yourself a favor and check this place out! read more

Ok, this was amazing and I didn't even get a burger! I got the waffle fries with a side of truffle mayo. The truffle mayo was addicting. I also got a small Caesar salad. The dressing and croutons were so good. Also, love when a dressing fully covers a salad (with some to spare). Tomatoes tastes like they were fresh out of the garden.
