Wings

If you haven't tried Fry Bar yet, you're seriously missing out. Yes, the fries are awesome, but all of their creations are what really set them apart. Everything is homemade & I mean everything! From cheese sauce for Mac & cheese to in-house smoked meats and wings, this is an absolute gem. It's an unassuming spot in the North Side with very friendly owners and staff. I tried "The Oink" with fries, pulled pork, and homemade BBQ sauce. Absolutely killer!!! The portion is so big they serve it in a pizza box. I also had wings that were some of the best I've ever had. The lemonade and tea is to die for too!

Fry Bar is a fast-casual restaurant that serves French fries, macaroni bowls, salads, wings, sandwiches, and non-alcoholic beverages. Please see my attached photos for the menu in February 2025. Fry Bar was on Yelp Pittsburgh's list of Black-owned businesses to try during Black History month. My husband and I ate one lunch here. The exterior of the building looked old, but the interior of the restaurant was nicely remodeled and had tables and chairs for dining in. Takeout and delivery were also available. Two employees promptly and courteously served us. Here are my ratings for what we ate: Load 'Em Up Fries - 4 stars - A medium-sized pizza box was filled with French fries that were topped with bacon and scallions. The serving size was so large that I had leftovers for two later meals at home. I really liked the French fries and the accompanying cups of cheese and sour cream. Pulled-pork Sammy - 4 stars - A fresh bun was filled with pulled pork, habanero BBQ sauce, and some coleslaw. The flavor was not too spicy and tasted very good. FB Mac and Cheez - 4 stars - This macaroni had a good amount of cheese and tasted very good. Sweetie Pie - 4 stars - A flaky pastry crust was filled with seasonal fruit, which I think was apples. Some cinnamon sugar was on the exterior, and on the side was a flavorful dip. FB Tea - 4 stars - I liked the flavor of this sweet tea. The label on the bottle said that the tea was not pasteurized. This meal cost $44 *plus* tax and tip.

Wow. I'm not sure exactly what I was expecting, but for whatever reason the fry theme in the name had me expecting a fast food kind of vibe. I could not have been more wrong. Loaded fries and wings both seem like pretty easy and straightforward kinds of dishes, but you can truly taste the amount of work that goes into the food here. From the fries themselves that are perfectly crispy, to the incredible flavor and texture of the cheese sauce, or the smoky flavor of the wings, I loved every single bite of my meal.

The Oink, minus the cole slaw.

Stopped in for lunch on a weekday. I got the Oink, minus the cole slaw and it was ok. If you like spicy, it's very hot. The portions were good though. Would maybe try a different one next time.

This is a smaller establishment-- they offer take out but also have some indoor seating! The menu is larger than you'd think and has a range of selections for any eater. You start with a base (Mac n cheese or fries) then you top it!! I wanted something with some spice so I got the papa loco with a fry base. The service was friendly and helpful when trying to pick my first time-try. It's a quaint spot on Galveston and a short walk from western (and the breweries). It's a perfect spot to grab and go or grab a quick bite. Must try on the north side!

Fries were delicious, seriously some of the best I've had. Reminds me of the kind my grandma would make by hand when I was a child, but better! Not too greasy and nice and crispy on the outside. It's a small seating area but everyone is so kind and it has a comfortable vibe. My only complaint is that after leaving, I smelled so greasy, I had to go home and change!

First off the tea and lemonade are great! So glad I went with the combo for both orders. Food was great, nice delicious sandwich! The sauce topped it off with a great taste. The service was excellent too, I came in early and happy to see the amazing extensive menu and seating for at least 20 people, great location too! Thanks again!

This Illy Philly was hungry....as usual....and wanted something new, and something different to eat so I headed to the Northside (Look at me...recognizing neighborhoods now...I feel like a real Pittsburghian) to see what was cooking.... I saw a new restaurant called the Fry Bar and headed in to see what they were 'frying up' (see what I did there?)... O.M.G!!!! It smelled so good when I walked in. I was greeted with a pleasant smile and a really nice menu when I walked in. The menu consisted of fresh made comfort foods... Emphasis on fresh. I talked with the owners and discovered that everything they make is from scratch and really freshly made to order. They don't freeze anything. This is epic because I love fresh food. I ordered the 'Da Dahntahn' because I'm vegan and the idea of fresh veggies, sautéed and seasoned, on top of a fresh salad with dressing made from scratch was appealing. I also ordered their FB Mac & Cheez, their creamy Slawz and a Mint Cucumber Lime drink to top it off. What can even say....this food was absolutely epic!!! You can really taste the freshness in everything! The veggies were phenomonal and seasoned well, and pairing it with the salad and dressing on top took it over the top. The dressing was delicous!!!! The Mac & Cheez was creamy with subtle and distinct taste of cheeses in their house cheese sauce. I don't know what's in it but it was so good going down and I love Cavatappi noodles when I eat Mac & Cheese so it was perfect. The coleslaw was the right dosage of creamy and is now one of my top favorites ( I can't wait to put it on top of a vegan burger!) The piece de resistance was the Cucumber Mint Lime drink. This was delicous. The right amounts of Cucumber, mint and lime. It was like heaven in my mouth. Overall the Fry Bar is definitely a great place to get some beautifully crafted foods, made from scratch with the freshest ingredients, that will make your palate scream for more. Try them out and thank me later

I dined at Fry Bar this past weekend. There was no one out front when we arrived. We ended up waiting about 5 minutes and then someone came out from the back. The cashier was really nice and explained the menu to us. There were three of us and we all ordered the five piece wingz. We were told for an additional $6, we could make it into a combo with any side and a drink. We all decided to do that. The wangz are advertised as whole smoked and crisped so I was very excited to try them! I got the buffalo flavor and the other two guests got the 5 piece Parmesan ranch. Two of got the fries as a side and the other person got a salad. We all tried the cucumber mint juice for our drinks. Our food came out pretty quick! The fries, cheese sauce, and salad were all really delicious! I'm still thinking of those fries! However, the wangz fell flat for us. They were tiny. Like really tiny. I think advertising them as whole wings was a bit misleading. The cucumber mint juice was delicious, just a bit sweet. I cut it with some water and it was perfect! Overall, I would definitely go back! I just would not get the wings again.

Chicken over salads.

Short walk from the Mattress Factory so headed there for lunch. Clean corner space with several tables for dine-in though seems to do a lot of takeout business. Owners were friendly and happy to explain the options, basically proteins over fries, salad or mac & cheese. Definitely recommend!

LOVED our dinner at this place…read more We came here for dinner while visiting Pittsburgh. The first thing that struck me was the interior decor. Very industrial and moody with an open kitchen/preparation area that adds some intrigue. I do like to see the happenings of what's going on as someone with zero attention span. Service was excellent. George was fantastic. He kept a close eye on us without being overbearing. He anticipated what we might need so we didn't spend one second waiting to order anything. The menu is not endless or overwhelming which, presumably, allows them to focus on the items that are listed. I have decision panic so it was kinda nice to have less things to choose from. They asked if there were any allergies or dietary restrictions so I mentioned my vegetarianism. George went through the menu and pointed out the vegetarian options including what seems like it is vegetarian but isn't. They had TWO vegetarian entree options and fortunately the non-mushroom one was something I probably would have ordered anyway: pesto with walnuts, arugula, and a very generous amount of grated cheese. To start, I ordered the Brussels sprouts whichc I was warned had fish sauce. This was fine but nothing that blew me away. GF, on the other hand, loved this. GF ordered the wedge which was brought to our attention as vegetarian with the bacon on the side, which was her request. We ended up sharing both, a large part of that was because hers came out first and I couldn't wait but I'm so glad because the wege was FANTASTIC. The dressing? holy fuck pure ecastasy. The wedge was more like a filet shape which was much easier to eat. Who decided on the wedge shape anyway? The lettuce was so fresh and crisp and went wonderfully with that orgasmic dressing and breadcrumbs. Back to my pasta. Also delectable. Noodles were al dente. The sauce was creamy and packed that pesto umami flavor. The walnuts were a really nice contrast in texture. Everything about it absolutely fucking slapped. GF ordered the mushroom entree which came served on a bed of barley which, don't mind if I do, had a few forkfuls to "sample" for "my review". Again, so fucking good. Because it was my birthday, George provided a dessert (yuzu maybe?) that was served inside a meringue-esque igloo, creamy perfect balance of sweet and tart custard with some berry business underneath. Wonderful. I almost forgot their spectacular cocktails! Holy shit, literally they have a CORN CHIP cocktail that I could not pass up. It comes with two massive cornchips on top of a flavored foam. When you bring the glass up to sip, the cornchips are right in front of your nose and their aroma sets the stage for the drink which was STRONG. It wasn't as corn chip forward as I expected but I understand that flavor is probaly hard to create. For my second drink, I ordered the blue one which was refreshing, light, and really good. GF ordered a spritz which was gorgeous "it was good". For second round, I picked out some uranium thing that was very cucumbery, GF says, "it was good". I just read it outloud to her. "it's true!" Fantastic meal at a great place.

Steaks and seafood are the standouts; well-sourced, cooked right, and presented without unnecessary gimmicks. The menu shows discipline, which I respect. Service is where they really separate themselves. Shawn Michael and Jo are exceptional. They are attentive, polished, and genuinely elevate the experience. This is professional hospitality, not just order-taking. Ambience is upscale and energetic. It can get a bit loud during peak hours, but it fits the vibe and doesn't take away from the experience. At this price point, you expect a lot and Eleven delivers. Between the quality of the food and the level of service, it's absolutely worth it. Bottom line: If you want a high-end dinner in Pittsburgh that actually lives up to the bill, Eleven is a go-to.

For dessert, we had the candy bar and the sticky toffee pudding. I feel like I have seen such an uptick in sticky toffee puddings recently. This one was really good, I enjoyed both.

It serves wood-fired cuisine that uses locally raised meats, house-made pasta, and seasonal vegetables. Currently, during the winter, examples of menu items are small plates (e.g., roasted beet salad and heirloom carrots), mid courses (e.g., linguine and blue-bay mussels), large plates (e.g., sesame soy-glazed eggplant, pork chop, and picanha), desserts (e.g., pistachio cake and Kahlua fudge brownie), and alcoholic beverages (e.g., cocktails, mocktails, wines, and beers). For my husband and me, I made a reservation for dinner through the Resy website. I chose from options of the dining room, a four-season patio with awnings and heaters, and a chef's counter with a view of the kitchen. Please note that although the foods are upscale, the dress code seems to be smart casual. We parked our vehicle in a lot a short walk away. Upon our arrival to the restaurant, a seating hostess promptly greeted and seated us. Our server provided courteous and attentive service, such as taking our order and bringing our foods on time, refilling our waters, and cleaning my crumbs. We started with a Crab Cake with decent amount of crab meat, mushroom duxelles, tasty truffle aioli, and a side of arugula salad. My main course was Branzino with sides of beans-vegetables and parmesan cornbread. My husband's main course was Duck Breast with a blood-orange demi-glace, asparagus, and potatoes.
