I ordered a pizza today. Had lots of really good cheese on it and mushrooms and it was $16 for eight cuts. Most pizza shops are much more expensive. They don't deliver but they also have high quality salads as well to pick from.. ie. Potato salad pasta salad seafood, broccoli salad. read more

I got a chicken Caesar salad. I love Caesar but hate olives, and this salad was oddly loaded with black olives and mushrooms and light on the chicken. This is unlike any Caesar I have ever had -- and not how it should be without warning (and the menu doesn't give these details). Frisch's has been around for over 70 years, and their chicken is always consistently good. Over the years we've placed catering orders for family events, and dined in the restaurant on occasion. They have a nice selection of homemade soups and salads and a salad bar. read more

I've been to Frisch's twice this week and I plan to return often after the great experiences I had. On Sunday, we ordered the $8 pizza special, which is a large 1-topping pizza. It was good; not the most amazing pizza I've ever had, but it was tasty and a great price. Last night we got half an Italian hoagie and a chicken Parmesan sandwich. The chicken parm was a little plain for me, but my partner was happy with it. It was really large and he couldn't finish it. The Italian was also big, even though it was the 1/2 size! I took half home. It had lots of lettuce which tasted fresh. Both sandwiches came with fries, which had the perfect crunch. The dining room was busy at 6pm on a Saturday, but there was no wait to order and there were plenty of tables. Service was quick and friendly. read more

On Saturday July 19, 2025 at 1:30 I pick up call in order of 32 pieces of 'Broasted' chicken. I ask Robbie if could he help me to take out my order to my car. He stated "YES". Thank You Robbie. At Home with our Family Gathering we started to eat. Everyone gave awesome comments on the chicken. You can taste the flavors, it was very moist with a crispy crust. They commented that this was Way better than Giant Eagle fried chicken. Also, others commented that this was Way better than Kentucky Fried chicken. Stopped in for takeout. There was a short line and u go down the counter and order. Ordered a salad to go. It took a little time. Salad was rather small for the price but fresh. Pathetic. Pizza was mid but for a chicken joint the wings were trash. Had to put your own sauce on them. I ordered two 7 pieces of wings and not one had sauce on them. They gave me two sauce cups per order to put on myself. Terrible. read more

So took me a day to get to write this .. but we tried Frisch fish sandwich this past Friday and while we typically think of this restaurant we thing of delicious broasted chicken and potatoes - hoagies ( you gotta try the Italian) and pizza... but now will have to associate fish during lent there too! We settled on the fish sandwich meal which was $11.95 for what you see pictures and does come with a drink .. oh the fries .... yes they taste as good as they look! The fish was delicious and it's on a Breadworks bun ( that was very fresh) .. had a little trouble getting though to order - hey it was a Friday night during lent - keep trying it's worth it! We probably could have gotten one and shared - there was def enough food. Well done to all at Frisch's ... I went to Frisch's first time near 10 am 2 weeks ago- I'm disabled in a chair and it was hard to get through door!& there was two doors one at their deli& I guess the other door Restaurant? it was dark- so I entered Deli and 0 no one was there? absolutely no one and it was open- any thief could enter and steal deli meats but! then I looked and they had a lot or Borheads lunch meats ? that was a turn-off since some is recalled The salads looked old and ugh! I went there because it said open 9 am thought since restaurant I could have breakfast? no menus 0 I heard how good the chicken& Fried fish was good? but how would I know since no one was there? and anyone could of walked in and stole lunch meat( if they dared!) or even their sodas canned drinks- Since entrance was too hard for a power chair to go in- I thought no way! never again- instead I went to Panera's for a coffee read more

This cafeteria-style eat-in deli reminds me of a few places from my childhood. Everything is made to order and there are a lot of homemade options. The seafood bisque I had was loaded with shrimp and crab meat and my turkey club was massive and on quality bread. My fiancé loves their fried chicken. Haven't been in to the store in two years as we were unhappy about the service after they burned my chicken sandwich really bad and drove back over after discovering it when i got home. It is a 25 minute drive one way. I was then told they couldn't give refunds. It was in the evening. it was all there for them to look at the burnt chicken. Looked like two turds. They could see how bad it was. They offered to remake it but i wasnt going to wait. I was pissed At that point. Today we were bored of cooking and getting the same stuff. My dad likes KFC chicken sandwiches but i am tired of them. I talked my parents into trying Frisch's again so my mother wants a half italian hoagie and my dad and i both get fried chicken sandwiches. I get home and they both look over cooked. Not burnt like two years ago. But they didn't taste great. I guess we will be back to not going. No point in telling the owners. Two years ago when i talked to the one owner Sheri the next day when she mailed me a refund she didn't seem to care too much about my other complaints in addition to the burnt sandwich. We went there today for Small Business Saturday as we love to support local businesses especially during these times. We went in to place the order. The food was reasonably priced but the sandwiches don't include sides which was kind of a bummer. They are huge though and could/should totally be 2 meals. Hubby and I both had the chicken Parmesan sandwich. My oldest had a steak sandwich. My 2 younger kids split a 6 slice pizza. Total was $38-ish. Service was fine. Nothing extraordinary. Everyone was masked and seemed to be following the protocols, which we appreciate. Many of the tables were marked off for distancing. There's not a great place to stand to wait for take out so we sat at a table while waiting. All in all, a good experience! read more

After waiting an hour for an order of chicken fingers I was told that my order was lost. Waited an additional 10 minutes until my order finally came out. When I asked for sauce I was told there would be an additional charge! Are you kidding me! You would think they would have at least given me the sauce for my trouble. I've been here only once before. I attended a graduation party here a year ago in their banquet area. I enjoyed the food then, so decided to try it for lunch today. I started with a cup sausage ravioli soup. I wasn't sure if it would be a thick and creamy soup or a broth (thin) type soup. It was a thin soup but flavorful. It was $4 for the cup of soup which I thought was a little steep. I was impressed with the care they gave it however for transport. The put the styrofoam soup container and placed that inside of a plastic bag to avoid spills and then put that in a paper bag. That was a nice touch. Then I ordered a ham, turkey, bacon club sandwich. It was only $7.99 and was delicious and huge. That was a really good sandwich. I know that their breasted chicken is really good from what I've been told by coworkers. I would definitely go back again. read more

This is a no-frills place offering excellent food. I've lived five minutes from here for quite a while and can't believe it took this long to stop in. They are known for their broasted chicken, which is pretty much like fried chicken, and a chicken breast dinner with your choice of broasted, skin-on potatoes or mashed potatoes with gravy, and also coleslaw, runs around $10. You get two big chicken breasts for that and it's a good value. After trying them once recently, one member of my family was craving this chicken so much that we went back within a couple of weeks. On our next stop, I ordered a medium plain pizza and she mentioned that there was a large pizza special for $7.99 that included one topping. That was an incredible deal. This place also has a full deli in the front of the store and the selection looks fantastic. There is seating available in the back and outdoors during warmer months. Haven't tried any of the hoagies or other sandwiches yet but that's next on the list. So far, I'm really impressed with this solid neighborhood spot. read more

Stopped in today at 4:37pm. Sign posted on the door said open until 5:00pm. A woman behind the counter said the grill area was closed. I asked if I could get something from the deli. The response I got back was "No, we're done" i was shocked someone would talk to a customer this way. I wasn't ordering anything that needed cooked just wanted a few of the already prepared foods. Very poor customer service!! I will never go back there and will not recommend this place to anyone. No one should be talked to that way!! read more

I came here for the broasted chicken based on recommendations in other reviews and it lived up to the billing. For $8.99 I got a breast, thigh, drumstick and wing all very moist and hot out of the fryer. The broasted chicken dinner also comes with a choice of potato and cole slaw. I got roasted potato wedges which were also good You get a big serving at a reasonable price. They also serve some beer so if you want a draft beer instead of a fountain drink with your food you can do that. It took a little while for the food to come out, but it was worth it because it came out hot and freshly cooked. You could tell the chicken wasn't sitting around and dried out. read more

Great local place. We come here for food often and I had to write a review finally. Eating the stuffed pepper soup while waiting for takeout and it is excellent and 5 star worthy. The food here for the most part is pretty average. It is probably best described as slightly improved cafeteria food. The place also just feels old and outdated. Despite this, the place has a loyal following, especially for their fried chicken. I feel many people simply come back here because hey have been coming for so long, rather than because the food is good. KFC and Popeye's are DEAD. They just don't know it yet. Long live Frisch's. Who is Jack, and why is his "Famous Broasted Chicken" so damn good? Why is it so damn tender, flavorful? Why is it coated so perfectly, so crispily (is that a word?), so richly? What is "broasting" you ask? It's when something is cooked in a pressure fryer, a colossal metallic coffin full of hot oil. In other words, you ain't buyin' one for home use anytime soon unless you start up a website like Google or something and become the next Steve Jobs, who may or may not be reading this. Frisch's is novel in that it is not only a restaurant, one with a massive menu that includes not only that incredible broasted chicken but also pizza, burgers, wings, sandwiches, salads, and side dishes, but is also a deli with all sorts of lunchmeats and salads behind a glass case frosted with cold air. I always love walking into places like this and getting a whiff of all that chilled meat. I hadda walk out with my gallon of Schneider's Iced Tea too. We were out of it! Gulp! What other eatery sells that honeyed, lemoned, cloudy ambrosia in a plastic jug? The dining area in the back is really nice and modern in a vaguely retro way. It kind of reminds me of an old-fashioned carhop diner. You order upfront, and they bring your meal to your table. Yet, a large screen TV glows in the center of the room. I like eating there when I can, but tonight it was takeout. Speaking of retro and carhops, Caste Village, the shopping center Frisch's dwells in, was having one of their Car Cruises. That means '57 Chevy's and 60 year old guys with jet black pompadours. What a trip daddy-o! I thought I saw Porky Chedwick! As for Frisch's potato salad, its the website with the viking kittens doing Zep, meaning it is rathergood. Normally I don't care for "sweet" potato salads (you can usually tell it'll be that way if the dressing appears yellowish since it means they put sweet pickles in it), but I like Frisch's. It's not too sweet that it overpowers the salad. And of course it's full of crunchy veggies. It battles nearly every tater salad out there to a full 12 rounds. Their cole slaw is excellent also. Again, crunchy, sweet, and a little bit soggy makes for the best slaw. Always. Tell me people, what better sides are there to have with fried chicken? Who the heck wants mashed potatoes and gravy? Especially in the summer! Why go the fast food route for fried chicken when you have a place like Frisch's around? Where else can you get chicken this mouthwatering with sides that more than hold up their end and aren't just there as a formality, y'know? I mean, why do KFC and and Popeye's even bother with sides? KFC does have pretty good slaw, but everything Frisch's offers makes the Colonel and Mr. Copeland each walk away arguing bitterly over how to take down Frisch's once and for all in their brain-transplanted robotic bodies (ya think they're really dead? The Broasted Chicken is the bomb. I don't know how I never thought to come here during all those twenty-some years I lived in the South Hills. I mean, I guess I do know why and it's because the place doesn't look fancy on the outside (and neither is it on the inside). The front is a deli, so unless you want a pound of chipped ham or whatever meat and cheeses you need for your lunches, you wouldn't think to come in. Beyond the deli counter is a separate room that houses the kitchen and the dining room. It looks like a cafeteria, but I would definitely not call their food cafeteria food. Simple concept: you order at the counter, they give you a number and they bring your food to you when it's ready. My husband and I were in the area and after reading other reviews, we both went with the Broasted Chicken Dinner. For $8.29, it comes with cole slaw and a choice of potato; I got the broasted and he got the mashed. The chicken dinner seriously is half a chicken: you get a thigh, a breast and a whole wing. Whatever magic they're doing in the kitchen, this chicken is crunchy on the outside, so incredibly moist on the inside and it's seasoned to perfection. Forget KFC, this is the place to go for breaded chicken and for an incredibly affordable price too. The cole slaw was delicious, mostly tangy and sweet, and just the slightest bit creamy. The broasted potatoes, which are just wedge potatoes, were pretty darn good. Again, crunchy on the outside and soft in the inside. Perfection. Although it's not very fancy, the food is just fantastic for the price. The menu is huge so I'm sure we will be back for more! read more

When I was younger growing up in the south hills, I remember Frisch's being one of the most popular spots for weekend grub. Maybe it was me a wide-eyed child, but I remember it being great. After wanting to pick something quick up for dinner one evening, we stopped into Frisch's and placed an order fro take out. After going back and forth between the deli counter and the cafeteria-style line, we finally figured out where we needed to order since the staff seemed confused themselves. While waiting, we checked out the deli counter, which they have seriously cut back on. The food in there didn't look too fresh. I had initially wanted to get some sides, but changed my mind after seeing what was there. We ordered chicken and the broasted potatoes. The chicken took 40+ minutes to cook and when we got home we realized that almost every piece was a wing versus a breast piece. The potatoes were generally bland. The meal also came with cole slaw, which I'm not a huge fan of, but they forgot to include it after making a big deal about it at the register. The food itself was soggy after a less than 5 minute ride and I was pretty disappointed. After a less than exciting meal, I wouldn't go back, especially with places like Armstrong's right around the corner. read more
