This was my 2nd visit to Bakery Square and I'm glad I finally got an opportunity to eat at GGs café. The café is run by two sisters-Meredith and Christine who also operate a custom bake shop in Homewood called SugarxButter. Everything here is made from scratch. I was asking about their chicken dishes which is their signature item and at their suggestion got their daily special-Alabama chicken with hot sauce. My son who was with me got their jackfruit cakes-being vegan along with a side of fried green beans, and Brussel Sprouts. Being part of Galley Bakery Square you need to grab your table before you order so you can give them your table number. You can also scan the menu with the barcode located on the table menu. When paying by credit card the credit card fee is passed onto you. This fee is not done by the individual concept but rather the Galley itself. Expect to pay more since these people are chefs. Once seated we got our food with minimal wait. My chicken was so good and had the right amount of spicy kick to it without being overbearing. My son loved his jackfruit cakes and shared some of his fried green beans and Brussel Sprouts with me. Meredith had prepared a special green dipping sauce for the green beans. They were very good and of course being fried, very filling. The Brussel Sprouts were good as well. I wanted to end my meal with one of their homemade chocolate chip cookies which I had before but alas, they had sold out of them. They promised to reserve one for me on my next visit. Having had that cookie before I must say it was delicious and with the added touch of them putting whipped cream on it and a cherry makes it a dessert delicacy over just another cookie. There's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating at Galley Bakery Square. The South Parking garage offers you two hours of free parking when you come during a certain timeframe. Definitely a great meal with homemade goodness!

6 tough ribs and a side of Mac and cheese for $22. Not a fan.

Really disappointed. Place my order and they never asked for a table number so I had to stand around and wait. The guy walked by me several times with other orders and never thought to mention I could go sit at a table ( my wife had a table at the other end of the room). Then when my order came out it sat on the counter for a good five minutes until he finally came up to me and asked what I ordered ( there was only 1 or 2 people who ordered in-between). There was another guy waiting next to me who seemed to be having the same issue. More disappointment ensued when I got my food. The rib "special" was terrible. The ribs were drenched in bbq sauce but were super tough and flavorless. At least the Mac and cheese was good. The service hopefully gets better over time, but not sure I'll be back if the food doesn't improve.

Yuuuum! I've been to Galley multiple times, but this was my first time trying GG's. I highly recommend! The chicken was very juicy! I was impressed! The drinks (mango lemonade and berry lemonade) were delicious as well!!! My friend had the salmon salad and the salmon smelled and looked amazing! It was cooked perfectly! Will definitely be back! Plenty of parking available!

Located in Galley Bakery Square. We ordered the loaded fries and they were so delicious! Topped with buffalo chicken and blue cheese, perfect appetizer to share with friends!

I ordered the salmon salad which was ok - there was nothing spectacular or negative about it. I did however ask for the french fries to be on the side. instead I got a side order of fries for $6 and fries still on my salad

The food is amazing. I've been here twice ! Love that they are in Bakery galley ! I've had their salmon & macaroni. The cabbage was so yummy (I don't even really like cabbage) it was sensed perfect ! The best part is that it's Black owned !

Salmon, Brussel sprouts, Mac and cheese, and strawberry lemonade.

The Food is good but a bit expensive for Café. I would not recommend. The Security was excellent.

I placed an online lunch takeout order recently for a veggie burger with fries. Based on a special instruction I added to the order, the manager called to ask if I was vegan before they made the order since their bun and aioli have egg. Although I'm not, I was so appreciative of the effort they put in to make sure that the order fit my dietary needs! Also, the burger and fries were both cooked to perfection and so tasty. Highly recommend Butterjoint and their sister cafe, Sidecar!

Got to try their chicken sandwich and vinegar pie. The chicken sandwich came with a garlic sauce (toum) and fresh vegetables on their signature milk bread. Needless to say, the bun was amazing. The toum was great too, perfectly garlicky. And the chicken was delicious, with a solid portion. A bit on the expensive side though. The vinegar pie sounded super unique and intriguing so I gave that a shot. So glad I did! This is delicious. I can't even really describe it; there's a tiny note of acidity to it, but it's also super sweet. A nice little brown topping as well. It's just really good and you should try it. All in all, recommend this spot. The inside area we were sitting at was a little bleak but other than that, it is a nice place to be!

That it was takeout only presented a dilemma for me, as I was just visiting the North Side for the day by bus and foot, and had no place to take my order. Of the two people behind the counter, one could not have cared less about my dilemma, but the other was of some help with this and my order. I wound up walking two blocks downhill to a park with benches. Second, that all orders are cooked to order and take 25 minutes. Fortunately there is a branch of the Pittsburgh Public Library across the street and it was open, so that occupied my time. The food: the chicken and catfish are fried in light crispy breading, very fine. The chicken wingettes were delicious. The catfish was not easily flaked and was ever so slightly rubbery, which would have been a very bad sign if it had been any more so. But it wasn't too bad. Green beans are a good side dish at this sort of joint, and these were good, seasoned with meat and sautéed onions mixed in. The white rice was entirely plain but tasty.

In truth,…read moreit's such a favorite of mine that I headed there straight from the airport on my most recent visit. The cool vibe restaurant is tucked away up a short flight of stairs on Filbert Street. It gives the place a cozy, hideaway feel with brick walls and murals. It's pretty popular, so you might have to wait a few minutes for a table, but it moves pretty quick. The menu focuses heavily on crepes and French toast, and they do both very well. I went for a savory crepe that was loaded with eggs and topped with a rich sauce and diced vegetables. It came with a side of fresh fruit which was a nice touch. We also ordered a sweet crepe to share. It was beautifully presented with chocolate drizzle, berry sauce, and a massive pile of whipped cream. The coffee is solid too. Verdict: This is a consistent and reliable brunch spot. It was the perfect way to kick off my trip. I will definitely be back next time I am in town.

But the star of the show for me is the Shakshouka. I have gotten it the last 2 times I went. You also have to try their Dirty Chai. My only critique is the hostess at the front. She appeared overwhelmed by her role and was not warm. We were actually told by the waiters that "she is serious about her list". Which would be great if she managed it effectively. When I brought concerns that we had been pushed down the list 3 times for other parties. She responded "well, how do you know that" to which I responded "we watched you take their names down after ours and sit them before us". Her response was to shoo me off and tell me to go find a table myself; to which I did. But what a poor way to manage your stress, responsibility, and consumers. On the bright side my waiter/waitress was awesome per usual.
