    Chicken Sandwich
    Raymond C.

I thought the chicken sandwhich was mediocre in terms of flavor. I got a spicy level one but it wasnt as tasty as other chicken sandwiches I've had elsewhere. The chicken was nicely fried, no soggy areas, but a bit greasier than I would like. The waffles fries were on point - big and crispy. Love the ease of ordering in the ipads and the indoor and outdoor seating.

    Chicken sandwich combo (#2-extra hot)

I was working nearby and was looking for lunch in the area in between appointments. I ordered online so I could expedite my plans. The online ordering platform is simple and gave me a surprisingly long estimated pick up time (well over 30 minutes), particularly as I was ordering at the tail end of the lunch hour. I decided to arrive within 15-20 minutes and sure enough it was ready. I decided to eat there before for my next appointment. I ordered a hot (#2 heat) sandwich with fries combo. The sandwich was breaded well, with good crispness. I could have gone higher with the heat levels as it was mild at best (good to know for next time). They were fairly liberal with pickles, something to be mindful of. The waffle fries were crispy and well seasoned. The downside was the fries were cold, suggesting my order was ready earlier. It's a lot of food as the sandwich is on the larger side. Overall, solid spot to try.

Overall a bit pricy for what you get. Pros: I like the fried chicken, right amount of oil and crunchiness for me. We waited for less than 5 min to get our food. Cute wallpaper. Lovely background music. Cons: The bread seems a bit stale and there wasn't much going on inside the sandwich. I don't think have an option to add/adjust toppings.

I'm writing this as my nose is dripping haha. I got the spice level 4 and it IS spicy. And i can handle a good amount of spice. Love it. Great taste. Good chicken, nice and juicy. Recommend!

Really good chicken nuggets and fries! My husband loved his level 4 spicy chicken sandwich as well. An employee was ready to take our order at the counter and then we seated ourselves in their quaint dining area. Turner's tea and lemonade is a plus and if you're in a drinking mood, they have alcoholic slushies for sale!

I got the chicken sandwich combo with a turner's lemonade (wasn't that good) and waffle fries. The process of ordering the food was fairly simple. They have iPads along the wall for patrons to order themselves if they are paying with card. I really enjoyed that I got to pick the spice level of my sandwich, I went with the 4th hottest level and it was really good. The food came out fast and was delicious! The bathroom was also very clean which I appreciated. The atmosphere in the restaurant is very colorful and inviting. I will definitely be returning. My total was $17.12 after tax, a slice of cheese is a dollar extra. P.s I was a little disappointed there was no Heinz ketchup being that they're in Pittsburgh. But nevertheless my experience was still very pleasant.

As others and I have written, a really really good Nashville hot chicken. Small simple menu. Small simple seating area that seats about 26 with a couple of high tables for two and a few tables for four. The chicken sandwich comes with a large thick piece of chicken, housemade pickle and mayo on a brioche bun. Pick you poison on the heat from 0 not heat to 4 the is Hot as xx. The fries are thick waffle fries. Had to have a Turners Iced Tea with my meal. Sometime will try one of the frozen drinks. Yes it is truly a wonderful tasting chicken sandwich. The place fills up but many take out. If you are in the neighborhood and are looking for some good chicken or a good sandwich, be sure to stop by.

I've been coming back a few times, and I must exclaim that the food has been excellent. They specialize in a great chicken sandwich, and they are open crazy late hours. The dining area is stripped down and charmingly retro. Your food arrives quickly after you order from the counter. The staff is always accommodating and helpful. There's a nice kick to the sandwiches, if you like heat, they can bring it. If you're not that adventurous, stick with a 1 or 2 spice level. My fries were about as good as you can make them. This is a great option to enjoy with friends or for takeout.

I was really excited to try this place but was disappointed by the chicken sandwich. I got a spice level 2 and I think I could have handled more heat. Overall, I don't think the combination of the Mayo and the pickle does enough to compliment the flavor of the chicken. It was too sour and needed something else to balance it out. The chicken was good - moist, had good seasoning and flavor, and a little bit of crunch on the edges of the sandwich. The brioche bun, however was nothing special. The employees here are very kind and attentive and I know they do good work. I just think the quality of the ingredients does not justify paying $10 for this sandwich.

    Little Chucky Chicken Delux

Small place in the heart of Shadyside with good chicken! While the menu is very small of about 4 things, just different ways to have the fried chicken or fried fish: 3 sandwich types, or as tenders, they know how to cook it very well. I ordered the Little Chucky Chicken Delux Sandwich. It had lettuce, American cheese, green tomato, crispy bacon, a fried egg and spicy mayo on top. The chicken was nice and crisp on the outside with tender white meat inside. I would have liked it spicier considering I ordered the "Hot" level of Nashville hot sauce but it was still good and had a slight kick aftertaste. The brioche bun was fresh and grilled slightly on the outside edges to give it warmth. There also could have been more spicy mayo in my opinion, there were a lot of ingredients so it became a little dry as the mayo got eaten. I also got a side of waffle fries which were good and seasoned perfectly. Overall, I think the food is a bit pricey, I paid $15, for fast served chicken and a small bag of fries. It is good, but not the best Nashville style chicken I've had in Pittsburgh.

I sadly have not been able to dine in at Bird on the Run. I am new to Pittsburgh but I've had my eye on this chicken sandwich for months because of their social media presence. Today I received this lunch delivery as a surprise from my girlfriend. She's knows I've been eyeing it. We moved to Pittsburgh under yellow phase during the Covid-19 reopening phases. So all the food arrived to my office hot and fresh. Fries were crispy with great flavor. I guess I've been so mesmerized by the chicken sandwich I didn't realize they served waffle fries which are my favorite shape of fries besides curly. Fries stayed crisp even as they cooled down. Chicken sandwich has some phenomenal spice, as in flavor with a small kick of heat. I thought the bun was a bit much at first but after several bites you realize the bun is quite airy and actually light. I felt some heartburn coming on, so be prepared if you know that about yourself. I'm not upset about it. Breading on the chicken wasn't anything super special but it already has so much going on that is great. 10/10 Recommend! We will definitely be dining in soon to get the full experience also, the little bags they package everything in are adorable.

Out and about during the weekend.. we are always on the hunt for a good chicken sandwich. I actually googled "best chicken sandwich in Pittsburgh" and Bird on the Run came up as one of the options!? So off we went. Parking was impossible .. even with the weather bad. Parking garage was our only option.. luckily the East Side Bond Garage was only a few blocks away. Bonus-- free parking 45 minutes and under too!!! We ordered the combo chicken and fries. I love hot chicken - like Nashville but wanted to experience this chicken in a mild fashion first. I ordered #2 and got a side of cole slaw. Pretty tasty sandwich. It was super messy but loved every single bite! We are definitely returning to get the hottest sandwich there is! Fries were waffle fries - not bad. The cole slaw was regular cole slaw - nothing different about it but flavorful. Soda was in cans.. which was great.. take it with you. Thanks Bird on the Run.. you have met our expectations and we are returning!!

The decor, lighting, and ambiance is super upscale and you start to wonder if you can order ooey gooey goodness with some drinks. The seating is abundant with cute two tops by the beautiful natural light, booths big enough for a family, and cute seating in the atrium that feels like a party! We were immediately greeted and seated. The staff is super friendly and they all help each other expediting, serving, and cleaning. We ordered a Hu-No Spritz and Arsenal Draft. The spritz lacked the carbonation of soda, but the fresh mint and lime were just a perfectly refreshing sip. We split a Caesar salad to pretend to be healthy. The mix of lettuce was delightful and the toppings were so lightly added that it was the perfect way to start a pizza rampage. We could barely decide what pizza to get, but we indulged in the Hot Honey Pepperoni. From the creamy vodka sauce to the gooey mozzarella to the charred cup pepperonis filled with drizzles of the sweet hot honey. This pizza immediately cracked my top 5 of the Burgh!!! The dough itself is just... pillowy, crispy, and savory all at once... and yeah.... THAT'S GOOD!!! Hot tip: They do have a pizza window. How freaking cool! So if you wanna just stop by and grab a slice or wanna take a pie home... they are rocking and ready to get you the goods.

On our most recent visit, we sat at our table for about 20 minutes before anyone greeted us, and only after we flagged someone down. The prosciutto pizza was disappointing, and the baked rigatoni tasted overly processed and lacked the quality we remembered. It's unfortunate because this was once a place we visited regularly, but now it's hard to recommend. The atmosphere remains pleasant and lively, and the restaurant is clean and well-maintained.

This shop is part of a larger chain but currently appears to be the only location in the Pittsburgh area. It's located in East Liberty and is really more of a bakery than a coffee shop. The inside is split about 50/50, with half dedicated to seating and the other half serving as a self-serve bakery. You grab a tray and tongs before walking around selecting whichever baked goods catch your eye. They also have display cases filled with cakes and other pastries that need to be kept refrigerated. For my coffee on this morning I went with a 16 oz hot honey lavender macchiato while my wife chose a 16 oz iced tiramisu latte. I have to admit that the name of my drink confused me a bit at first, but it ended up being a latte macchiato as expected. With that being said, I thought it was quite good. The lavender was light enough to be noticeable without overpowering the drink, while the honey added just the right amount of sweetness. The espresso was also present, especially on the finish, where it added both flavor and body. My wife also enjoyed her latte and appreciated the tiramisu flavors throughout. Outside of the coffee, we ordered a number of pastries. My wife chose the Crookie, which is a cookie baked on top of a croissant. My son picked out a chocolate-covered Belgian waffle, while my daughter chose the strawberry soft bread. All of them enjoyed what they ordered, and I think my wife especially loved the Crookie. As for me, I went a little overboard and chose a garlic and cheese croissant, a curry croquette, pork-dusted bread, and a sweet taro cream bread. All of them were delicious in their own way. The garlic and cheese croissant was a nice savory option, with plenty of garlic flavor and a crispy cheese crust. The curry croquette had wonderful warming spices that made it especially flavorful. The pork-dusted bread was definitely the most unusual item. The pork topping reminded me of Wild Bill's Beef Jerky, and somehow those savory flavors worked really well on top of the crunchy laminated bread. Last but certainly not least was the taro cream bread. I was impressed by how light it felt despite being packed with an impressive amount of cream filling. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. I'm a sucker for bakeries like this and clearly ordered far more than my waistline needed, but everything I tried was enjoyable. While the coffee was good, the pastries are the real reason to visit, with the coffee serving as an excellent complement.
