Im not sure if I have words to describe how good this place is. Food is fantastic, staff is great, price is right!

Still love the Big Ben. So far out of one sandwich, hubby and I shared it for 1 dinner and 2 lunches. Granted we had smaller servings than most. My grandson, likely would eat all of this delicious sandwich at once. We called in advance to order and because they only take cash and we only had a hundred dollar bill. Can I use it? Yes, I'll take it said the Matt Damon look-alike. I'll take it. Loved seeing him in person as he expertly took orders. Pittsburgh friendly. This is a happy place with great food. I had the cheesesteak and it was delicious with peppers, onions, steak, cheese, lettuce and tomato - the bread is excellent, too! cash only reliable staple I have to give it to this place! Reliable, affordable, with warm and fast service. The sub itself was quite simple. My friend and I agreed it could use seasoning, but with some heavy addition of malt vinegar I thought it was a quick remedy. Peppi's is such a nostalgic place and rarely disappoints! Stepping straight into 1985 pittsburgh, with wooden bench seating and pics of pittsburgh and sports celebrities. Much cleaner than Primanti's!! We decided to go ahead of a pirates game since we were parking in the northside anyway. Everyone working the counter was super kind and friendly and for one of the most casual places ever, they have great service. We got the cajun fries, the big Nate and the New Yorker! Honestly... it was kinda dry.... needs more Sauces at least they did not burn it .....

We came here on Saturday morning. The staff was friendly and helpful in ordering. I got the Italian regular with LTO peppers and banana peppers served hot and with mayo and the oil blend. I also got the combo with the drink and fries. I don't particularly love fresh cut fries but for what they were they were good. The sub was soooooo good. I would get it again for sure. Everything was great! I had the Sicilian my wife had the New Yorker. The bread was so fresh, everything was cooked fresh.

Nice to actually go to where the sandwiches is has before are made fresh. All our sandwiches were delicious and the fries and chicken fingers a friend ordered were also good. Service was friendly. I ended up order the Italian regular, but you can get an option to get it grilled. Which I absolutely went with! This sandwich was amazing! I'm craving it as I write this. I also ordered a side of fries with cheese wiz. I had too. The counter guys were all friendly, even joked me about the Phillies shirt I was wearing. My group sat outside as it wasn't too hot. Great salad for only $10, I feel it's hard to find a salad for this price AND with grilled chicken on it! Peppi's Northside staff does a wonderful job. Every time i've been in there, they're working quickly, yet are still friendly & approachable. All around they do a great job orienting to their customers. This time I got to check out the wall decor and it was so dope to see history of our city, Pittsburgh, that i've never seen before. Peppi's is one of my favorite sub shops. The consistency is always spot on & service is always fast. I have never dined in, only takeout, but my orders are always done super quick, even during busy lunch times. They are cash only but have an ATM onsite. The Roethlisburger & South Philly are mine and my fiancé's favorites, but you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The Roethlisburger is so, so good - sausage & beef patty with a fried egg and cheese (and LTO, of course). The South Philly is an awesome cheesesteak with melted American cheese & grilled onions. A gritty Pittsburgh classic. While waiting for a local brewery to open I walked down to Peppi's to grab a couple subs for home. It's definitely an old school place. No frills, honest people. I was greeted quickly ordered my subs and only had a short wait. Despite me walking in minutes before closing on New Years Eve the staff was still friendly and worked quickly. I was impressed by one folks working the counter. As I stood and waited for my subs I watched two customers come up asking for a to go container for their sandwiches. The man working the counter greeted them, asked if they enjoyed their food and then offered to wrap their food for them to go. He seemed to really care about their answer and not just ask out of habit. I made numerous stops on my way home, but the subs were still delicious. We all enjoyed them a lot. read more
