Triangle Bar & Grill was an okay experience for me. A few of my patients kept telling me I had to come try it and were raving about the sandwiches and how big they are, so I decided to stop by for lunch one day and finally check it out. I will say, I was a little underwhelmed based on how much hype I heard, but that could honestly just be because of what I ordered. I ended up getting a cheesesteak, and coming from being used to Philly cheesesteaks, I think I had pretty high expectations that just were not met here. That being said, it was still fine, and I am glad I got to try it. The service was nice and quick, which I appreciated. I definitely plan on going back to try one of their more famous sandwiches so I can give it another shot and hopefully change my outlook. I am not counting them out just yet. read more

I would 100% recommend Triangle whether you are planning a fundraiser or just stopping in on a random day for a sub! Their food is great. Im a big fan of their turkey sub where my husband said he wont eat anything but the Italian. Im actually not sure if he has tried anything else. The business is cash only so be prepared when you come in. Parking is street parking- that is what it is. Ive never had an issue. Don't let it fool you, this place is great. Staff is very helpful. Prices are decent for the quantity you get. When we arrived there was no one at the bar or bartender, not sure if it gets busier in the evening or something. But the two employees were non stop making hoagies. I have lived here for almost 7 years now and have never heard of this place until this week. I am so unbelievably mad that it took me this long to hear or be recommended this place. The bread is homemade and the star of the show. So fresh and soft with no give. They absolute loaded it up to. The oil and vinegar had good season to it that was bomb. Personally, I think the place was quite overrated. I've heard a lot about it, and they have acquired a lot of awards and rankings, but it is at the end of the day a simple sandwich shop. Not bad, not great. Just okay. I tried the cheesesteak sandwich in the destroyer size, and I added mushrooms. I do like that you're able to add mushrooms, lettuce, and other classic items for free, so a nice way to customize the sandwich. However, that's really the only somewhat special thing about this place. The portion was okay for the price, but it felt only slightly above average. It was a tasty sandwich, with pretty quality meat, but nothing crazy. I thought there wasn't quite enough cheese. All in all, a solid sandwich shop. Nothing crazy but still tasty. First time in at Triangle Bar and I wasn't sure what I was going to get. I watched the first six people in front of me all order the same Battleship sandwich and who was I to go against the grain?! Ordering was a cinch and the sandwich was ready lickety split. Where the experience sort of fell apart for me was the amount of mayonnaise on the sandwich and just how soggy it became during the drive home. It wasn't nearly as enjoyable as I would've hoped overall but perhaps the lesson learned was to hold the mayo and eat immediately. read more

I am 6' tall and the Battleship came up above my knee. The destroyer wasn't too shabby either, going half-way up my shin. The subs were heavy, too (like physically a lot to carry!). Once you get past the size, the subs are solid. The combos (you pick two meats) are especially good for variety sake. If you just get one meat it ends up being A LOT of that one meat. We also got a side of macaroni salad which was very creamy. Takeout service was prompt and friendly. We will definitely be back! I was super excited that on my last day in town it worked out that a hoagie sandwich was decided for lunch and we were for sure coming here! I asked what the most popular sandwich was and what was hands down the most popular. Her response was an annoyed reaction so I felt flustered and just ordered. Once my classic Italian sandwich was built, the lady, annoyed still, just kind of flung it at me and took my money. The sandwich I had was good, but it was nothing great or special, especially for the price. I first heard about this place on the TV shows that featured it, and I always thought that if I made it back to Pittsburgh, I'd like to go. Now, I'm disappointed. The bread was good. The prices were a bit high. The quality of the product was ok. I don't feel bad that we went. I also never will feel the need to go back. The bar was old. The barstools are a much mash of discomfort. They don't take credit or debit cards. It's strictly cash only. They do have an ATM on site, but there's a $2.75 surcharge. They also have minimal amenities; plastic forks and paper plates. This place was more fun when I saw it on TV and anticipated what it would be like. Now that I've been there, the fun is gone. They're still trying to relive the glory days when the mills were booming. Those days are over. Unless you like the nostalgia of an old building with an old bar in a town that is barely hanging on, and with minimal comforts, go somewhere else. It just isn't worth the trip or the cost to go here. You can find places at least as good nearly anywhere. read more

Always a great hoagie. Since I've been coming back since the 70s when my dad would get us a battleship. It was and still is a treat.

Got original Italian and cheese steak destroyers to go. It seems like the seating area isn't really open and they're mainly doing take out and operating the bar. The destroyer size is about 12 inches. I had been craving a classic hoagie with oil and vinegar and the Italian was perfect. Soft chewy bread, nice balance of meats, lettuce, toppings. The cheese steak was nice as well, not exactly a Philly steak, but the meat was very tender and flavorful. Maybe a little too salty. Overall, a really tender, melt in your mouth sandwich. read more
