I will travel for a good hoagie and this was a good hoagie. I ordered their italian 12". This was massive. Really good bread and structure. I also ordered the cheese balls. Incredible. My husband ordered the shrimp po boy and it too was massive. Waitress was great so attentive for how busy it was. She was incredibly nice. Loved how laid back it was. read more

It cracks me up how every non chain hoagie place claims to be the best or "famous" I'm not the biggest fan of hoagies/sandwiches, but Anchor came highly recommended so I gave it a try. There sandwiches are large. You definitely get a lot for what you pay for (but they also aren't cheap). There is a lot of meat and ingredients and they seem to be high quality and fresh. The staff is friendly, but some of them did seem a bit overwhelmed or stressed. That didn't keep them from providing fairly efficient service. I enjoyed the cheesesteak hoagie. It was properly dressed without being too soggy. Others enjoyed their italian and corned beef. Overall, a great place for a quick bite. read more

First time back in a while and I hate to say I don't love the dining room changes. The waiting area for to go orders is very small. The stressed conversation of an understaffed open kitchen makes for a very awkward wait. We ordered the cheesey bacon tots and they were served covered with liquid cheese in a cardboard box. We need to upgrade our containers or put sauces on the side there's no reason my food can't survive a 10 minute drive home. Cold food = 4 stars Service and hot food = 3 stars read more

First time dining in as we typically order takeout. We got there about 6:15pm on a Friday night and walked right in. Nice bar area with several tables both short and high tops, lots of TVs all around/good views from pretty much all seats. Our waitress/bartender, Hailey, was very attentive and friendly. My husband had the fish and chips and really enjoyed it. I decided to try the 6" shrimp po' boy and it was very good and filling! read more

Lowkey spot to grab a bite to eat, they have a smaller space with a few tables and a full bar. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. The hoagies were decent, the bread to filling ratio was not even close, lots of bread and needed more filling. The loaded tater tots were exceptional, definitely carried the meal here. We got two hot subs, so would be willing to come back and try a cold sub. read more

The place was nice and clean. Small bar area with some seating. The service was great. Our bartender/waitress was very nice and attentive. The food was not great at all!!! The fries were soggy, the chicken wings were bagged , breaded wing that sauce was added to. The hot sausage was just a piece of hot sausage and chunky sauce drowned in vegetables that were not cooked soft. Not worth the travel time. A waste of money for us. The pictures speak for themselves. I would give this 1 star but the bartender/ waitress was nice. read more

Amazing food amazing service amazing sizes for price love going there and will continue to do so

Solid local bar/restaurant, last time I was there they was a hoagie shop, they have expanded area and have a moderate size bar area in back with 2 large TVs over the bar. They have a solid line up of hot and cold hoagies. This time I was on my way home and wanted to pick up a quick lunch, and I picked their Italian hoagie. Service was fast and friendly, actually quicker than if I had gone to a chain sandwich store for lunch. And as a bonus this is a veteran owned business. This time I had the Italian, it was good, decent ration to bread, meat, and veggies, and seasoned oil and vinegar; this was a plus. With the speed and efficiency with which I got my order I will definitely go here when in the area over some fast food chains. And with their hot, cold, and specialty sandwiches you have something for everyone. I will definitely be back, maybe later in the day and try the bar during a game. Solid choice, and a local business not a chain. read more

Let me start by saying the hoagies are good the fries are good. BUT, if you are looking for a triangle bar hoagie this is not it ONLY by means of quantity. You will get a lot more meat at the triangle. I will say the staff is very friendly. The sandwiches are pretty much priced the same as triangle so that was a little disappointing. I will probably be back because I live a lot closer to this establishment. read more

Being from the area, we try to get to Anchor every time we are back. I usually get an Italian but decided to branch out and get the sausage hoagie. Holy $#!* was it good! I got a 6" and let me tell you it was 6" plus. Everything about it was to notch. My wife gets the meatball and same deal. The quality from the meats to the cheese, to the hoagie roll is very good. The homemade chips are fantastic, especially with the cheese sauce. The service is great and you can tell they take pride in everything they do. This place absolutely blows all of the chains out of the water and even some of the other mom and pops in the area. You will not be disappointed going to Anchor for a hoagie and some chips. read more

I love Anchor Hoagies! From the service- to the food. The Rueben sandwich is in my top 3 in Pittsburgh. The drinks are 1/2 priced of those in the city and they have a great selection. My favorite is the Pineapple Jalapeño Heatwave read more

My dad work's at Shorkey's. If I visit him at work and run to get a sandwich I'm coming here. We usually get the cheesesteaks which are bomb. They sell yummy sides and Turner's tea too. They also have a brand new bar which, for whatever reason isn't busy whenever I'm in. It's probably just an advertising thing. Maybe 8 TVs in this small space is a bit excessive, but I think it's cool. read more

Truly delicious! High quality meats, very generous portions, ready super quickly, convenient location for north Versailles and botHuntingdon The fact that one of the owners is this big sexy af guy is just a bonus!! Highly recommend read more

Appreciate the feedback from the owner, but still don't understand the faulty online order system. The menu specifically states what exactly comes on the sandwich. See attached photo. Why would I need to "build my own hoagie" when it is already specifically built on the menu!? Also, the online order feature has a checkbox option for "plain". If I wanted it plain, I would have checked plain... duh? See attached picture. I rarely give 1-2 star reviews, but this is def warranted. read more

The hoagies are stuffed with meat, service has been great. We've always been satisfied.

Wow. What a find. I had a Mushroom Cheese Steak and Egg hogie that was THE BEST. Made so well I was in heaven while enjoying this treat. The fries lasted well beyond the ride home. Quick and attentive service. They deserve a wonderful tip. The owner should be proud. I love these non franchise places. They are the best. Henry read more

So tomorrow is suppose to be National Hoagie day, but it is Cinco de Mayo too, not sure how they are on the same day. So decided to celebrate National Hoagie day today, May the 4th be with you day. The hoagies are good at Anchor but so are the Cajun Fries, so ordered the Cajun Fries and an Italian hoagie. A fresh hoagie roll with plenty of fresh meat, oil & vinegar and oregano along with plenty of lettuce, tomato and onion. A nice hoagie just wish there was a little more cheese, seemed to be a lack of cheese today. A big bag of spicy Cajun fries, so good. read more

My new favorite Hoagie Shop ! I was told they are x employees of Triangle Bar in Swissvalle, not sure that to be true but doesn't matter . GREAT Hoagies hot or cold. The hand cut fries are Awesome!! The fries alone got five stars. The Italian hoagie was meaty and delicious!! The hot sausage wasn't overly spicy in taste but very good. My personal favorite ROAST BEEF will have me returning once a week for sure !! Highly recommended must try. Well worth going out of your way for. Dining in was a total PLUS !! read more

My lord, this place is amazing! The homemade fries, with the Cajun seasoning, are the die for. These fries I think are better than the sacred potato patch fries from kennywood. You got to get the cheese sauce with these fries too, well worth the extra cost. Decided to split the Kurts Special with my wife and I was happy we did so. You have to like spicy sandwiches since it comes with fried jalapeños, but I'm sure you could ask for none if you're a baby. Any way, this sandwich was incredible! So many good flavors in each and every bite. Highly recommend if you want to share a sandwich with someone or if you are super hungry. The staff was super friendly also, feel I need to mention that since some people only want to go to places where the staff kill you with friendliness. What more can I say? I have no idea, I'm going to go eat more fries so check take what I said above and place an order. read more

I would give this place endless stars if possible! Hands down the BEST steak hoagie in Pittsburgh! Lets start with the bread..... ohhhhh....... baby........baby!!!! It's incredibly fresh and airy! The steak is tender and packed with flavor! When you ask for extra cheese you most definitely get it! They also load it up with all of your favorite toppings! The Cajun fries with cheese sauce are a MUST HAVE! The portion is very generous and fabulous! Reuben lovers this place is for you!!! I was once a fan of Big Jim's in the run's Reuben sandwich until I ordered one here with extra cheese.... Glad I was sitting down for my first bite..... The bread was ohhhhh......sooooo.......perfect!!!! My mouth is salivating while I'm writing this!!! That sandwich was incredible as well! I ate it until my stomach couldn't handle another bite, then passed out on the couch with a smile on my face! Shout out to the AMAZING staff who make every visit enjoyable!!!!! read more

Visiting my parents in Murrysville and looked up subs. This came up so I thought to give it a try. The only reason it is 4 instead of 5 stars is it actually too much chicken on the sub. It is two layers of breaded chicken breast. I think one layer would have been perfect. Also the fries are huge, one to share is plenty. read more

I got a cheesesteak a couple days ago. Born and raised in Philadelphia, so I'm really cheesesteak picky. I remove a few things that generally come on theirs, but they actually make a solid cheesesteak. It's hard to find one around here. I'll def be back. And my boyfriend got the Italian. He loved it. AWESOME FRIES!! read more

Ordered pickup online through their website.. 25 mins later I arrived and it was ready to go! They put the toppings on the side as I had requested, fries were piping hot and fresh! The inside is very clean and lovely. They had a huge plexiglass divider between the counter and the customer, and employees were wearing masks (even though at this point I don't feel they really have to). Masks not required for entry. I got a 12" Italian hoagie, a 6" meatball hoagie, and an order of Cajun fries. Sandwiches were delicious!!! The fries were generously seasoned and spicy, perfectly cooked with a soft potato inside! I couldn't stop eating them. This was more than enough for 3 people and a toddler, with tons of fries and some sub leftover. This place is top notch! I will come back again and again! read more

My uncle and I stopped at Anchor Hoagies and we both agree that these are some of the tastiest hoagies we have EVER had. We both ordered the Italian hoagies and they were delicious. Absolutely fresh, top-quality ingredients on Stagnos buns, with a touch of oil and vinegar to accent the meats and cheeses and veggies. Superb!! As an added bonus, this is one of the CLEANEST restaurants I have ever been in. Right along Rt. 30, near the intersection with Rt. 48, Anchor Hoagies is definitely worth repeated visits. read more

This is my third time having Anchor Hoagies. This first one was a cold Italian I bought from the Norwin girls basketball fundraiser. It was so good that my husband and I went back a few days later. This is my first time eating inside their restaurant. There are four small tables with chairs, so it's good for small groups and couples. The staff were welcoming and friendly, and the restaurant was clean. Their menu is simple but it feels complex to read. The bread on the hoagies is awesome and they put an ample amount of meat inside for it to be filling. I think the hoagies do need more dressing/moisture of some sort. We find ourselves adding Italian dressing to the subs once we get home. Overall, this is a great small business and I hope the community gives them their support! read more

If you are a fan of triangle bar hoagies, then you will love anchor hoagies! This small shop is located just a few minutes down the road from Walmart in noth versailes. The first time I visited, I drove right past the shop. You have to look for the sign or you may miss the building as it sits back from the road. While the shop may be small, with just two tables for dining, the hoagies are just the opposite! They have all the traditional hoagies you would expect to see at a hoagie shop like italian, turkey, ham and roast beef. They thought about the vegetarians with their veggie hoagie ($7 small, green peper, onion, tomato, american cheese, provolone cheese, mushrooms.) And they also offer a tuna hoagie. In addition they have some unusual options, only served in large for $25, like a ginormous breakfast hoagie that could feed a few topped with bacon and eggs and their "special" which includes chicken, bacon, steak, banana pepers and mushrooms. No matter what you order, all sandwiches are staked high with meats, cheese, veggies and their special touch. Oil, vinegar and some spices. While all sandard hoagies include lettuce, tomato and onion, you can add mayo for free and pickles for a little extra. Personally, a small 6 inch hoagie is enough for a meal for me. Although I always end up stretching my limit and ordering fries, $3, or homemade chips, $2.50. They are just too good to pass up! While the leftover hoagies do get a tad soggy from the oil, the chips stay good and make for a great snack for the next day! read more

Food is great, Juicy Meatball hoagie is my favorite perfect name for it. BLT and cheesesteak hoagie are pretty good as well. Not a fan of the Italian hoagie I feel the meat is cut to thick not sure if they slice it there or it comes to them pre-cut. I've cream bars are good. Service is good.
