The bun was way too big and rock hard stale....the fish was overcooked and tasteless, no amount of lousy Kraft Tartar/Tabasco/Vinegar could save it. Fresh cut fries, which I had high hopes for were dry, bland and overcooked as well. Dining partners weren't too thrilled with their meals as well (Cajun Chicken, boring soup and salad)... I've been to Frisch's a few times, never anything special, but this was the worst. Dining room atmosphere is lifeless... After thinking about it my 2 stars is probably a bit generous...

That was a winner. Crispy outside, moist inside. It was a busy Sunday and they were swamped with catering orders. I was warned that it would take 25 minutes for my order to be ready. No problem because I had other competitors' chicken strips to pickup. My order was ready at the appointed time. Atmosphere is a busy deli. All food, hot & cold, is ordered from the front counter. I took a gamble ordering something with unique flavors and it definitely paid off. The Brie paired well with the raspberry mayo. The server was efficient, attentive and pleasant. It's a cozy atmosphere. With the refillable fresh cut fries, you're getting plenty of food and more bang for your buck! This was my second time coming to this location, and unfortunately, both experiences were…read moredisappointing. The first time, I ordered the Hot chicken, which I've had before and know is supposed to be very spicy. When I got my order, there was absolutely no spice. I even had my daughter try it, and she can't handle spicy food, but she agreed there was no spice at all. I didn't say anything at the time because I had already started eating it. The second time I came in, I actually made a little joke to my daughter about them getting my order wrong again, and unfortunately, they did. Once again, I ordered Hot and the chicken had no spice whatsoever. I went up to the register and politely told the girl working there, who had a tan complexion and short curly hair, that I had ordered spicy and this wasn't spicy at all. I wasn't rude or upset with her. She took my tray and the only thing she asked was, "What flavor was it?" I told her Hot. Less than two minutes later, she came back with two smaller wraps. I used to work in the food industry, so there's no way a new batch of chicken was cooked and the order was completely remade that quickly. She didn't say anything when she brought the tray back, and when I said thank you, she didn't respond. Her attitude and overall vibe came across like she was annoyed that I had said something. I opened the wrap and noticed they had added more Caesar dressing, which I didn't ask for. When I tried the chicken, it was the exact same issue as before--no spice at all. I normally don't leave negative reviews, and I've worked in customer service for over 20 years, so I understand that mistakes happen. What bothered me was how the situation was handled. I was polite about the mistake, but there was no apology, no real attempt to fix the issue, and the attitude I received made the experience even worse. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend this location based on my experience. The food may be good, but the customer service I received was extremely disappointing.

Wanted to try and see if this place was worth the hype and a formidable challenge to Chick-fil-A…read more Had the popular hot honey sandwich which was really messy and sticky. But I was prepared for it with extra napkins. The ordering process was via kicks. I should've known that it would take some effort when the woman in front let me go ahead since she said she didn't want to slow down the line. It's not an intuitive process. And no one stationed at the front counter to help. Took a while to figure out how to get fries without it being automatically combined with the drink. Nice touch to get people to pay more! Finally found the fries separately! Definitely not an easy process. They will text you when the order is ready. Nice! Bathroom was really dirty but at least my order was ready earlier than expected! Came here for the sandwich and it was painfully dry without much taste although the honey added some sweetness. Unlike Chick-fil-A where the sandwich can stand on its own, and the sauce just enhances it, there's no way I could eat this sandwich without some accompaniment. So dry. The fries were pretty soggy where I like a certain crunch. Reminiscent of 5 guys fries but much less portioned and much thinner. Good taste but nothing crave-able and very greasy. Service was nonexistent which is why I didn't leave a tip on the kiosk screen. Why do restaurants do this anyway?!? Why do I tip for service I haven't received?!? Finally, how can they possibly charge!$11 for their sandwiches. The regular sandwich starts at $11 as was my hot honey which really wasn't all that hot anyway. That's more than twice the cost of a Chick-fil-A! Next time I'm going to get both a spicy and regular Chick-fil-A and still have money leftover. Maybe I'll get their waffle fries too. At least, I won't have to waste time on a kiosk to figure out how to add it to my order!

This is definitely a local gem. The location I visited was off Fifth Ave not too far from Carlow University, which is where we were dropping our kid off at college. I heard the chicken and catfish were really good and you get your money worth. There was free parking. No place to eat inside just seats for waiting. Cash only!! There is an ATM inside the restaurant. Staff was friendly. I kept adding on to my large order. Gotta fed the kids. Lol! They cook to order so nice hot, fresh food! Fries were seasoned and delicious. Catfish and oysters were really good. Catfish had just right amount crisp to the nuggets. Oysters good as well. My dad said the shrimp were good. I haven't been able to eat shrimp lately. My son said the chicken wings were really good. Cole slaw was decent and I normally do not eat that out but it was. The staff was nice. The location had ample parking. Nice portion size for money paid. Food was really good. The only downside which I think is universal was fries not good in microwave layer. Wish I had my airfryer to bring them back to life. Anyway, check out Hook in Pittsburgh!!

They are all comfortable and spacious with seats that will work with any body type. The food menu has their featured chicken, pizza, salads and entrees such as pasta. I don't know the secret to their breading, but is is crispy and packed with flavor and the chicken is juicy and tender. Portion size is great and everything I've ever ordered has been tasty. The one downside is that with the high ceilings and nothing to dampen sound, it can get really loud . Not so loud you can't hear the other people at your table or anything, but noisier than most places that are a sit down restaurant. A wonderful spot for a tasty meal!

The level of customization might be a draw for some. For me, to have no "signatures" or recommendations, no preferred combinations, and just a sort of "pick it" approach for this feels strange. Asked for some direction, was basically told "no." They specialize in hot chicken and customization - but it feels like they are clearly missing a refreshing option beyond the Dill Pickle. Could see if I didn't want to "feel a burn" and wasn't big on pickles looking at very plain options. Frankly, they need someone new on the register. Other reviews mention poor service that way. I echo their feelings. Underwhelmed and turned off by them. Also, this is overpriced. Getting a diet coke for $3.5 is aggressive but at any restaurant I'd understand - get me free refills, fine. But to be handed a single can for that cost felt awful. Feel like they've taken that approach across cost and experience across the board. It's upsetting. If they really switch things up, I'd reconsider trying this spot again. Chicken was good and in the salad it was fine. I see potential. But I'm not coming back for the cost or the service here. You should skip it too.
