Haven't been to twin oaks in a while and it's just as good as I remember. This is not fine dining, this is a neighborhood bar and lounge. The food is made fresh and very good. They can accommodate large parties if you call ahead. Very good spot for lunch or dinner. Take out is available also. read more

Twin Oaks Lounge is like a utility infielder in baseball. Steady. Good, plentiful food, and reasonable prices. I'd something is not to your liking, they will make it right. Service is always spot on, and if there is going to be a delay, they tell you up front, so you can decide if you want to wait, or leave. I appreciate that candor. I don't know that I'd travel a great distance to go, but since my in-laws are in White Oak, we eat there often. FIL had the Twin Oaks salad (w/ fries, a Pittsburgh tradition!), and I had the excellent fish stacker. The sandwich didn't come with tomato, but I asked, and they brought it instantly!! read more

We came to Twin Oaks after a sporting event at East Allegheny High School. There are two separate rooms, a lounge and a dining room. They had live music in the lounge. The food we had was all pretty decent. I had a shrimp wrap and fries. The fries are beer batter style. Other members of our party had wings, a salad, and shrimp. The service was good. read more

Catering Review! We placed a catering order here for our Christmas holiday lunch party for work. We ordered the hot sausage, chicken bruschetta, and rigatoni as the main dishes. For sides and apps we had bread, salad, parsley potatoes, and carrots. All the catered food was very good and the perfect amount for the number of people. Everyone was raving about how good the food was and asking where we got it from. The hot sausage was definitely the crowd favorite. Extra bonus that they didn't forget to give me a tray like some of the other places I've picked up catering from. We will definitely be ordering catering from here again. read more

Love this place. Their chips are so good that you won't stop once you start. I was introduced to them by my cousin. What a mistake. They're almost addictive. Theyre so good that I keep going back to order them. And sometimes fill up before our meal. Service is immaculate. The staff has been there forever. They are on point. Nice as can be. The atmosphere is casual. They have a bar but we have never sat there. We always do take out or sit in the restaurant and can't say enough about how wonderful their staff is. read more

First time there and certainty will not ever be going back. There was what certainty appeared to be floor tile in my girlfriends food. When we brought this to the waitress's attention she was a bit rude so we mentioned it to the manager who rolled his eyes and took the forign item but was even ruder than the waitress. We never asked for them to comp the meal or anything but would have liked an apology. As I mentioned before this was my first and last time ever in this place. read more

I had the chicken salad and my husband had club sandwiches. Both were delicious, and the ranch is super good (trust me, that matters to ranch people!). I also LOVED their stuffed zucchini (we used ranch for that too). I tried regular fried zucchini elsewhere after this and it just did not hit the spot- I need to go back for their stuffed zucchini alone! And their fries... amazing. read more

The service was great for lunch midweek. I had the turkey club with Swiss and bacon on Italian bread. That's exactly what I got, no tomato, no lettuce, just what you get. Seemed odd but I guess people eat these types of sandwiches. Fries were seasoned, had I known I'd have passed. My friend had a Reuben. Looked good but where the corned beef went is anyone's guess. It was lunch so maybe they don't stack it on. I'd go back to try something else but maybe after the egg shortage ends. Ambiance is ok, older senior crowd like myself...who else eats this early. lol read more

Stopped in for an early Saturday dinner. We were seated in the dining room area adjacent to the bar. It was clean and well-lit. Service was super-attentive and friendly. Bus boys a little quick on the draw but OK, no problem there. The homemade potato chips were among the best I've tried. Crunchy and not at all greasy. The French onion dip alongside them was very good. My date had the club sandwich, and I ordered the Reuben sandwich. Both sandwiches met expectations. Reuben was nicely grilled on marble rye. Thousand island dressing was served on the side. Nice touch. The club sandwich was stacked with meat, very nice although the bacon could have been crispier. Served without mayo so the customer could add as much or as little as desired. The fries were the frozen-battered kind, which aren't our favorite, but they were crispy and nicely fried. Overall, an excellent experience for diner-style food. We chuckled to overhear the server at an adjacent table admit to not knowing the ingredients of the soup du jour, but OK. Would we eat here again? Absolutely. read more

Accidentally showed up when they were busy.....big mistake. We arrived as an 8top so we gave the benefit of the doubt. After a hour of waiting the server finally comes over and proceeds to tell us the machine printed the tickets wrong and they are sorting it out. Thirty minutes later we started getting food....which consisted of 2 main dishes and about 10 sides. We were missing over half the order and they said our steaks weren't even on the grill yet......but then magically showed up at the table 20mins later ice cold. I should've left when I seen it was busy, my mistake. I'll just never come back, I'm a cook myself and my fiance is a server.....they handled every situation tonight horribly. read more

I got a bowl of pepper Jack crab soup and stuffed banana pepper pasta. The soup was delicious! Generous lump crab and very flavorful. The stuffed banana peppers were huge sitting on top of pasta. It was sweet Italian sausage and mild peppers. Big portions, nice price tag. read more

We ordered a 6 oz. Angus Burger with cheese ($12.74), Wings Half Dozen ($11.50), and Black & Blue Burger with French Fries ($13) for a total of $39.84 with tax. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. The service was great as long as you were not in a rush. The ambiance is what you might find at typical pub or restaurant, nothing special. read more

Excellent service, excellent food, excellent prices. We are from Uniontown, Fayette County and we had to make a trip to Home Depot in North Versailles and decided to try Twin Oaks. I got the breaded chicken sandwich with fries. The sandwich was HUGE!!!! It had the best tasting breading. I am making plans to travel there again for my birthday and take the family. Waitress was very friendly and helpful. All of the wait staff pitched in and helped each other. Very hard to find wait staff like that. read more

My husband and I recently moved to White Oak and this has become a favorite of ours. It's a pretty quiet spot and a very nice local place to get away from home for a bit. They have guest spaced apart well and do a good job of socially distancing. My husband raves about the steaks here while I love trying the new specials. We have yet to be disappointed with takeout or sit-down service. I try something new each time we go - my new favorite is the taco quesadillas with a side of mac and cheese. read more

I just moved back to Pittsburgh and the Twin Oaks is one of my favorite places to go. The service and food are excellent and always consistent. Brooke the bartender has waited on me and my friends almost every time we have visited. Pam is also very friendly. Brooke really pays attention to you and your needs. I don't drink and my water glass is always full. I love this place and will continue to go back. I am in this business for 37 years myself and when I read a few reviews talking about when the place is busy the service was lacking. It's important for people that aren't in the business to know when a place is packed all kitchens get overwhelmed and it will take longer to get your food. Use common sense that's why most people go on a wait for 30 minutes up to an hour to get caught up. It appears this place because it's a local icon watering hole they would never put there customers on a wait. It's the type of place from what I experienced you just hang out have a few drinks and not have a stop watch waiting on your food. I have been there 6 maybe 7 times since I've been back and the food has always come out in a timely manner! This place just has there 50 anniversary under one owner that's amazing! Many of my High-school friends and family members have been going to the Twin Oaks there whole adult life! I will be a life long customer for sure. read more

Terrible attitude when I entered the place from the server who greeted me, shortly there after getting a table two servers came up to me and asked me to leave because I looked too young? I am 27 years old... I should have taken my families word and avoided this dumpster fire. The atmosphere seemed geriatric and stale and will honestly never be back after reading some of the Health Department reports. I tried this place years ago and was met with the same issue. Dogs*** place avoid at all costs. read more

This bar is a very above average neighborhood watering hole. Good drinks, friendly atmosphere are like most, but the menu is out of this world. Whether you are hosting a small gathering (lodge event, shower, etc.,) this is the place! I challenge you to find a better bar to watch a Steelers game---just see for yourself---complimentary buffet includes hot sausage and nachos, with friendly waitstaff making sure to take care of you the entire time. So we stopped back agian... an interestingly enough the only side open agian was the bar side. The dining side was closed for a private party.. It appeared to be a 40th birthday party. Now if you have never been here the bar side has a large bar with another room behind it that includes a small stage area with a little seating.The main dining side sits to the left of the bar side and has a separate door out side as well as inside to it. With that said and this being our 2nd time here... we both ordered diners and both were very good. I wanted to get that part out of the way, since the food was hot and delicious as well as being fairly priced. Here's the part that gets me... so... they seem to have a good clientele that seems friendly and outgoing and with various age groups. They also seem to have some new staff that have been thrown to the wolves sort of speak. Since what do you think happens when you are a bar/restaurant with a good flow of cutomers and then all of a sudden without warning on a Saturday night your dining space gets cut by over half? ... I just can't imagine in this day in age where most businesses are starving for customers and this one is letting them walk out the door, literally! I witnessed during our time there well over 30 people turn around and leave because there was no place for them to go or even stand to wait for a place to sit. Our server was a new gal who was doing her best, but when a woman who seemed to be running the place stoped by to grab our empty plates, I asked if she was an owner... since I really felt the need to express my feelings... she said she was not an owner just a person woking there... I asked her name.. it was Jocelyn (I hope I spelled it correctly) Well whomever owns This establishment should be thanking what ever god they belive in that you have the employee's like Jocelyn ... You have a pretty good place, stop screwing it up. I really want this to be our new go to place but if we go back and it's the same mess.... well, I just can't! Please stop screwing up... if you want a banquet hall buy the empty radio station next door and expand. read more

My family and I have always enjoyed this place before covid, and started doing take out during covid. Everything is still great. We've never had a bad experience. The prices are phenomenal for what you get portion wise. I really love the salads. The Taco salad is my favorite. Their blackened chicken wings are great. I really don't think there is a bad item on the menu. Judy is always so nice to speak with on the phone and double checks the orders with you. I'll gladly make the drive from North Huntingdon to White Oak for great food. read more

Came here for the first time for a friend's birthday. Decided to try the stuffed cabbage with mashed potatoes. Listed on the menu as a "comfort food"... It was far from comfort. No flavor. The ratio of rice to ground beef inside the cabbage was wayyy off. Clearly, they were saving money when making it. They also absolutely drenched the whole dish (including my mashed potatoes) in watered-down tomato paste. Not sauce, paste. You know the one... With that super strong, zingy taste you can't ignore. Completely overpowered what little flavor was in the stuffed cabbage. Why would you even use that on this dish?!?! The meal left much to be desired. Would not recommend, nor will I come back. read more

Twin Oaks Lounge thanks for mistreating my mom and aunt in your establishment today. They are pretty regular customers of yours, but will not be from now on! To think they are sitting in a restaurant with 3 toddlers who they bought a burger and fries for (from McDonalds) and y'all yelled at them as if they were incompetent human beings because they had outside food. They politely apologized, put the food away, and my mom was willing to just buy the babies something from your menu. You tried to embarrass her. You tried to belittle her. AND SHE STAYED TO EAT?! She's way better than me because you wouldn't have gotten a RED CENT from me shoot i might have flipped a few tables smh! She was at doctors appointments all day with 3 kids and 1 of them is special needs. She is a busy woman and all she wanted was to enjoy "wing night" but NOPE y'all were miserable! A few of your customers even stopped to say how well she handled the situation and she wasnt wrong! And they apologized for your disrespect which Is something you were not willing to do!!!!! RIDICULOUS! None of us will be coming back. read more

First dining out experience since quarantine! I felt safe and the place was set up perfectly for staying safe - one way in & one way out - no paper menus you download it from your Q-reader. Partitions between booths and distance between open tables. I had the grilled shrimp arugula salad - AMAZING!!! Can't wait to go back and have it again!!! read more

The food here is really good. I've been here a few times now and each time I had something different and liked everything. The only complaints I have is the staff. The first time I went the waitress was kinda rude and seemed to be extremely short with us. We just went back today and the waitress we had was nice, but forgot to put in our appetizer and never gave us any silverware or refilled our drinks. We also heard another customer beside us complaining about how long it took for her husband to get his meal. Everyone seemed to be finished and he didn't even get his yet. If you care about having excellent service, this wouldn't be the place for you, but the food is good. read more

Love this local place as I have been coming here for years since I was young. The blackened wings are amazing and the atmosphere is quaint. It has a separate bar area from the dining area and has an old school feel. They have bands on either Friday or Saturday nights (can't remember) and it gets packed. I have never had a bad item here. My wife got the Greek salad and loved it! My father in law got the tuna melt and love it. The portion size is awesome too and the staff is super friendly. Hey, they even have a couple slot machines in the bar area to pass some time. read more

I've been here twice, the first time was before the remodel. Since, the remodel has made it so much more warm and inviting. We went on a Friday during Lent, and I got a fish sandwich which was served with coleslaw and cheese on top, side of fries. The food was very good, waitress was wonderful. I have 4 stars because we were sat by where waitresses gather and fill drinks, and it was rather noisy and difficult to hear the others I was with. read more

Our server was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. She made us feel right at home and added to what was already a wonderful dining experience. We finished with the Bananas Foster. While it wasn't the tableside flaming presentation you'd find at a fine-dining restaurant, the flavor was outstanding and the perfect ending to a fantastic meal. Tillie's is located on 36th Street in McKeesport, just a few minute drive from the high school. It is also rather close to the Boston neighborhood. The building has adequate signage and is easy to locate. There is an entrance off of 36th Street as well as off of Kountz, and both are usually open. There is some street parking surrounding the building, along with a private lot to the left of the main entrance. I have never had an issue finding somewhere to park when dining in. We arrived to the restaurant around 5:30 PM on a Sunday, and it was not too crowded. I dined in with a group of 5, and we were seated immediately. I have been here on Saturday nights where there is a wait, so just be mindful that there could be a wait during peak business hours. In addition to the normal menu offered, there were some specials also available. We did not order any of these this trip, but there is the potential for some rotating dishes if you come to dine here! To start off, we ordered a few appetizers for our table. We got an order of the Fried Provolone Cheese, as well as the Fried Calamari. The Provolone is in wedges, and served with their marinara sauce - they were crispy and melty just as you want them to be. The Calamari are served with the marinara, along with a special dipping sauce. Both were good and complimented the Calamari well! Additionally, thick-sliced bread is provided for the table before the main courses come. They will refill it if you ask, and it is always delicious. For my main course, I ordered the Parmioli, which is a Tillie's special dish. It is Chicken Parmigiana topped with a giant cheese ravioli and baked together. It is a favorite of my family, so I have enjoyed it many times before. This time was no different, and the dish came out delicious! It was definitely enough for me to have some to take home. Other members of my family ordered different entrees. All were enjoyed by the person who ordered them, and included in my review are some pictures of these dishes: Chicken Alfredo, Lasagna, and Chicken Parmigiana (no mushrooms). Everyone enjoyed their food, it was all hot and fresh, and was prepared well. The service was excellent, and we had a great experience with our waitress. We have really never had a bad experience here before, and will continue to keep coming back. The prices here are very fair. All meals come with the table bread, a soup or salad, and then the main entree. Most are around $20, but for what you receive it is worth it. A lot of items are made in-house, and the sauce is unique and tasty. I would recommend this place on value alone. I always love coming to Tillie's, and this visit was no different. The food is classic and as close to true Italian as it gets. The charm, atmosphere, and staff all keep me returning time after time.
