Great cheesesteaks! Don't tell Lou this is my new go to location. Western Ave. gives the strip location a good run for the same great subs! read more

All our sandwiches were way too dry. We got the big Philly and small Philly and the pepper only Philly. We had to add mayo. Sad given all the great reviews. Not going back. read more

The Sicilian is the best sandwich I have ever eaten. Very nice staff. Recommend to all.

Stopped in yesterday to pick-up my takeout order during the Covid pandemic. Glad to see that there were several large to-go orders on the counter which indicated to me that not only are they good, but people are looking for opportunities to support businesses during this particularly hard time. My wife and I walked down to the Allegheny Commons nearby to eat our sandwich on a bench while we social distanced. Sandwich was quite large and easy to share as it was already cut in half. The French bread was fresh and not too hard and the condiments and fillings were fresh and well seasoned. I really liked the grilled onions and was glad that the mayo wasn't too overpowering. Super reasonable prices and great flavor! read more

We were visiting Pittsburgh for the first time and this was recommended by a friend as a must go!! The guys behind the counter were friendly and helpful, even gave us a complimentary order of fresh cut fries!! The sandwiches were huge and soo tasty, thin Sliced meat and vinaigrette! We both took half togo. It was quite the experience and I would recommend it for a fast, tasty, large sandwich, either to eat there or to go. We will be back if we ever come to Pittsburgh again! read more

Have to do Peppi's if you're ever in Pittsburgh. Food is insanely delicious in a prototypical Pittsburgh setting.

A Pittsburgh classic! Great subs and throwback atmosphere. Good quickly made to order. I love it.

The food was amazing! I came all the way from California to watch the Steelers vs chargers game. ( I'm a Steelers fan). And while here in Pittsburg I decided to try out the "roethlis burger" in honor of Big Ben. The second I took a bite it blew me away. It was the best sub I have ever had in my life. The service was also amazing. I like how they packaged the food you don't finish. I will definitely be back next year for a sub and Steelers game. I love Pittsburg! read more

I ordered the Philly Cheesesteak at Peppi's and was disappointed. I received bread that had a very thin layer of Mayo, cheese, and small shreds of meat mixed in. Almost like a " spread ".For the price, it should have been way fuller. Will not return. read more

You want a sub..this is the place to be. But be prepared to get messy.. it is located in a busy place where you need to find a parking spot. If you're lucky you can park by the terminal in the strip district and just walk to peppis. It is one of those must try eats when you visit Pittsburgh. read more

Get the Santucci!! (#27) so yummy and messy, but full of flavor! This place feels very authentic, we were passing through town and needed a place to eat but wanted something that was unique to Pittsburgh. The service was so friendly and helped us decide what to get. Awesome people, awesome ambiance, and great food! The Santucci was so big I could only eat half. Note-- it starts to get soggy when it sits in the sauce and it was huge so you might want to think about sharing especially if you get the large Cajun fries read more

Peppi's - Cheesesteaks Near Me - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Peppi's has the best cheesesteaks in Pittsburgh. The bread is soft and fresh and they aren't stingy with the beef. The steak salad is also a great choice if you want veggies instead of bread to cradle beef, cheese, and fries for you. The decor is pub-like, with the walls covered in framed photos of famous people eating there and pews and tables that are a little difficult to get in and out of if you're thicker than a snickers. Make sure you hold onto your ticket, not just to know your order number, but to surrender your ticket so they can track who has been served. Cash only! One star off because the atm in the shop has ridiculous atm fees. Definitely get cash elsewhere before you enjoy your Peppi's sandwich. read more

Peppi's - Pittsburgh Steak Salad - Cheesesteaks Near Me - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Went on a roadtrip to Pittsburg from Maryland and was craving philly cheesesteaks. My boyfriend ordered the special steak with banana rings, cherry peppers, fried onions, lettuce and tomato. I ordered fries and the cheese steak with grilled onions, hot pepper rings, lettuce and tomato. LOVED IT. The bread was the perfect ratio and texture, the cheese wasn't overwhelming, the steak tender, and the peppers gave it a tiny kick. I also put fries in my sub, it added a new texture and captured the saltiness of the peppers. Downtown Pittsburg locals are warmer than Peppi's fresh cut fries. I will definitely be back. read more

A Pittsburgh treasure featuring cheesesteak and fries. They've been around since the early 80's and still use quality ingredients that produce the best subs in the city. I always go to the Northside location and it's sports themed with pictures of all the great professional athletes that have passed through. They are always busy and they're always friendly. Just be sure to have cash on hand cause they don't accept debit or credit cards. read more

This is the best steak you'll find in Pitt. I definitely wouldn't put it up there with Max's or Dalessandros in Philly but it's a good sandwich. They are cash only so be prepared or they also have an atm inside. The steak is seasoned well, they throw in a lot of cheese which is absolutely fantastic. They don't dice their onions which I don't find it to be a big deal but some Philadelphians may be a bit picky. Overall, when I visit Pittsburgh, I make it a point to hit Peppi's. The staff is loud and proud of their work and they are always awesome! read more

You know what it is - obviously some of the best sammiches in town I gotta tell you! I love meet my older brother here for a cold cut or something nice, warm and melted to perfection. They have all the classics you probably already know, but if you don't just make sure you order one of their original sammiches if it's your first time. I didn't even take a picture of my food because I swallowed it so quickly I could barely inhale one time. A local Pittsburgh favorite. There's two places my friends from Pittsburgh told me to try- Primanti Bros' for their Almost Famous & Peppi's #7 Roethlis"burger". My brother, old co-worker and I went to this Peppi's location for Monday lunch. Enter using the doors on the right. Takes you to the kitchen area. Order, pay and have a seat in the other room. Everything made to order. No cold soggy meat under a heat lamp here. I ordered the #7. Massive 12" sandwich. Packed with ground beef, pork sausage, lettuce, onion, tomato, Fried Egg(my fav) and American cheese. If you came here hungry this is the sandwich for you. Very delicious and filled my appetite. My brother ordered the same and was happy with his #7 as well. Other: Street parking so pay attention to the signs. Pics of famous sports personalities and locals line the walls. You may recognize a few. Really good burger! Not just hype. Legit! 5 stars! read more

Business hours say you close at 8 o'clock. I've been calling since five minutes after seven. My wife drove there. Got there at 7:30. Your lines been busy. And I guess the guy thought it was a joke and he says he takes the phone off the hook 45 minutes early that's not good business read more

wife brought back sandwiches from Peppi's. I had a bacon cheeseburger with lettuce and tomato. I was expecting a regular size hamburger on a bun but instead got this huge hero. The hamburger hero was good but not the best ever. The fries were a bit greasy and not that good. I would order from there again but I would try something else i here they specialize in steak. I give it 3 stars for now if I try it again I will do an update. I can not judge service or anything to do with location as I said i did not pick up food. read more

Delicious, gigantic, inexpensive sandwiches in a charming restaurant with tons of local memorabilia. Thank god we were pretty hungry, cause their sandwiches are gigantic - a full foot! Next time I would definitely buy 1 sandwich to split and get a side of fries. I was pretty jealous of the other diners chowing down on steaming baskets of nicely browned fries. They actually do have a few vegetarian options on their menu - portabello sandwich, veggie sub, etc. I had the Shadyside sub, which was very tasty, mostly because of the excellent quality roll. The fillings were just standard veggie sandwich toppings - green peppers, onions, tomato, lettuce. Nothing to write home about, but WOW when it's piled on a perfectly chewy, amazingly flavorful roll - excellent! I will definitely make Peppi's a stop whenever I'm back in the neighborhood. The restaurant is perfect if you're looking for food near the North Shore that isn't an over priced bar/grill near the stadiums. It's a short, pleasant walk from the stadium/riverfront area. read more

Great Sandwich, fast service, great price. I love the Peppi's on Western Ave. It's one of their original locations, and the shop has great atmosphere on a cool little street in the North Side. The service was fast and friendly, and you can't go wrong with most of their sandwiches there though I'm partial to the hot Italian. Parking was pretty easy too in the middle of the afternoon.
