Coming from a Clevelander.....WOW. If I could just leave a review at just saying WOW... Very solid place to grab lunch. All I can recommend is the #7 Rothlesburger. Place is almost like a diner and has a ton of personality and history. Any sub I've had here has been great but I keep going back to the #7. I usually eat one there and take one for the road back to Cleveland. Guys behind the counter giving and taking shots at Cleveland and that's what makes it fun. This place will always be my go to when I leave the Burg and head home.

I would describe Peppi's sandwiches as subway just cheaper, much better, and more options. The employees are all incredibly friendly, and despite being alone made it feel like I was out to lunch with some friends. When it comes to the food itself the sandwich was awesome too. Everything from the bread to the meat and toppings was all delicious with balanced amounts(I find a lot of places just load it up with things like lettuce). The cheese was perfectly melted too and just an overall great experience for a quick lunch stop. I'll definitely be back to try some more of their signature items like their cheesesteaks.

Very unique Roethlisberger sandwich... The BREAD amazing!!! ... soooo chewy and crunchy it's perfect ... the sandwich gives a cheeseburger vibe but with sausage in it !!! Very unique.. also got the fries with the Cajun seasoning .. and NO the Cajun seasoning is not salty which I absolutely loved!! Service is fast and friendly !!... will definitely be back if I make it back to Pittsburgh in the near future!!

Great sandwiches. The prices are super fair and the sandwiches themselves are great. Loved the cheese steak and the joey porta bella was great. It mutt seem like an odd combination having horseradish in a cheese steak but it works so well. The staff was also super nice and welcoming, cracking jokes the whole time. Fair warning if you don't finish your sandwich they'll wrap it up for you but they'll also ring a bell announcing to everyone that "we've got a quitter!" Haha so best to finish that sandwich!

Always awesome! Thanks Lou, great visit, as always good seeing you ant the Peppi's Team in the Strip.

Peppi's is a classic institution in Pittsburgh. You want a true hogie...go to Peppi's. This location is small and it's constantly busy. You can dine in or order to go and they also offer pick-up. Go with a classic like the "cathedral" - ham, turkey, bacon and provolone cheese (get it warm for an extra kick). They also serve the classic Pittsburgh salad, with shaved beef and french fries on lettuce. I had more than one person eyeing my salad! Located in the heart of the strip district - there is only street parking available and it can be a challenge.

A strip district staple and a classic place to get a sub. Food (3/5): It is hard to beat a loaded up sub on a Mancini's bun. With Mancini's right next door, the buns are always fresh. That is probably the best part of the sub these days. The loaded up part falls short, however, which is a shame. I ordered the #7 Roethlis"burger. The sausage and beef combination is a blend of flavor and textures. The egg and American cheese are nice complements. Service (5/5): The guys working the counter and the grill are engaging and funny. It seems they enjoy being there and it adds to the environment. There is not service once you sit down but they will bring your food out and ask if you need anything else. Price (4/5): Most subs are around the $10-$12 range which is a good deal. You will pay that at Subway these days and these are much better than that.

Stopped here on NYE for lunch. Located in the strip district, unless you have a proper plan for parking, finding a spot may be tricky. We stay in the strip district so we walked. No real frills to this place - obviously a strictly focused attention to the food - outdated decor and discolored walls and decor means the food is going to be gas. Ordered a Pittsburgher and shared fries. It has been maybe 10 years? since I've ordered a cheeseburger sub? Worth the wait bc this one was great. Ordered mine with grilled onions, LT, and chipotle mayo for an extra kick. They had a line but still only took 10 minutes to come out. Fries are boardwalk style - peanut oil with that trust cut look. Would recommend here every time. Very good.

This was on the list of things to try and so we did. I think the sub I chose was my first mistake and really wish I would've gotten the pittsburgher instead got the classic cheese steak figuring I couldn't go wrong any way. Nothing too much to report negatively, all went smooth - ordered, drinks, etc. and ate and left. I think my steak sub was good - almost though like it was missing something for this condiment queen. I would've put mayo on this like a comforter on a bed. Fries were good and I always like little places that have so much reputation. Will recommend. Although, I think people already know.

The food tastes good but they should be called Breadgie. They are dominated by the bun with barely any meat. The shrinkflation that has taken place here is a shame. Last time for me.

Casual dive sandwich spot. Service is great here, very energized. Definitely grimy in there, but if you can get past that the sandwiches are great. Ordered a steak sandwich with blazin sauce and cajun seasoning with hot peppers. Flavor was fantastic. Will come back.

This place feels like your small hole-in-the-wall neighborhood sandwich joint, but it's a chain! Kind of a narrow entryway when you walk in, they prepare the subs on the other side of the counter. Further in, there's seating and they have TVs playing. The staff are super welcoming and friendly. They have tons of options on their menu. We tried the #7 ("Roethlisburger") - a sausage and burger juggernaut topped with an egg. We also tried the Santucci (#27) - Italian meats with peppers, mushrooms and onions. We ordered both without cheese. Both subs were super delicious! If I had to pick a favorite, I'd probably go with the Santucci. Just overall delicious sub. Both were great though. Big portions too, a full sub will definitely leave you feeling full!

It was definitely not traditional. The sauce was very thick and almost floury. They serve it with pork belly, which does not give the same punch of flavor to cut through the sauce as guanchali or bacon. The papardelle noodle were dry and clumpy. The dish was very heavy. Do not recommend. The place is chill. It is close to the theater. I might try it again if in the area.

Now, I am going to take you on a journey just like the books Belle read so strap in. We had a 5:45 PM reservation, and even arrived a few minutes early. The hostess/employee (I don't want to assume positions) took me upstairs for a table right by the window, which will be an awesome view when the construction finishes. It was also a beautiful sight of that part of the city as-is. When I was seated, I was one of a few tables seated. It was not full or even busy at that time. Also, as we were seated, we were given waters. My friend joined me about 5-7 minutes after the reservation time. We then ordered our drinks at about 6:00/6:05 PM. From there, we waited and did not meet our waiter, who will be referred to as sweet baby angel Max from here on out, until about 6:20 PM. We ordered an appetizer and two entrees at around this time. Our orders had some modifications but nothing major. By this time, many more tables were seated upstairs and others seemingly received their alcoholic drinks and even appetizers by the time we received only our drinks around 6:30-6:40. Our drinks were big, too, which is great, but that also meant we had to drink them a little more quickly due to the time constraints with the show. We were enjoying ourselves but noticed multiple more tables receiving not only their drinks and apps but also their entrees. Once 6:55 came, we had to tell sweet baby angel Max about our predicament. I will be honest and say we suggested for our drinks to be comped at least - not only for the wait and lack of courtesy with everyone else receiving their items before us despite our arrival and reservation time, but for the fact that we would have maybe 15 minutes to eat, finish our drinks, pay, take our food back to our cars, and make curtain time. What sweet baby angel Max did next flabbered our gasts -- he said not only will our drinks be comped but our whole meal will be comped. He also helped pack our food and kept it in the back so we didn't have to worry about going back to our cars. We made sure to tip him with all we had! We are so glad we did because when we returned after the show, he had the kitchen remake the food and kept it warm for us. When you go to The Eagle, ask for sweet baby angel Max and you will not be disappointed with him, the service, or the food. Because even when they may mess up? The Eagle gets it right with their classy attitude and positive treatment of their customers. You definitely have multiple return customers just from this encounter. Thank you!!!

LOVED our dinner at this place…read more We came here for dinner while visiting Pittsburgh. The first thing that struck me was the interior decor. Very industrial and moody with an open kitchen/preparation area that adds some intrigue. I do like to see the happenings of what's going on as someone with zero attention span. Service was excellent. George was fantastic. He kept a close eye on us without being overbearing. He anticipated what we might need so we didn't spend one second waiting to order anything. The menu is not endless or overwhelming which, presumably, allows them to focus on the items that are listed. I have decision panic so it was kinda nice to have less things to choose from. They asked if there were any allergies or dietary restrictions so I mentioned my vegetarianism. George went through the menu and pointed out the vegetarian options including what seems like it is vegetarian but isn't. They had TWO vegetarian entree options and fortunately the non-mushroom one was something I probably would have ordered anyway: pesto with walnuts, arugula, and a very generous amount of grated cheese. To start, I ordered the Brussels sprouts whichc I was warned had fish sauce. This was fine but nothing that blew me away. GF, on the other hand, loved this. GF ordered the wedge which was brought to our attention as vegetarian with the bacon on the side, which was her request. We ended up sharing both, a large part of that was because hers came out first and I couldn't wait but I'm so glad because the wege was FANTASTIC. The dressing? holy fuck pure ecastasy. The wedge was more like a filet shape which was much easier to eat. Who decided on the wedge shape anyway? The lettuce was so fresh and crisp and went wonderfully with that orgasmic dressing and breadcrumbs. Back to my pasta. Also delectable. Noodles were al dente. The sauce was creamy and packed that pesto umami flavor. The walnuts were a really nice contrast in texture. Everything about it absolutely fucking slapped. GF ordered the mushroom entree which came served on a bed of barley which, don't mind if I do, had a few forkfuls to "sample" for "my review". Again, so fucking good. Because it was my birthday, George provided a dessert (yuzu maybe?) that was served inside a meringue-esque igloo, creamy perfect balance of sweet and tart custard with some berry business underneath. Wonderful. I almost forgot their spectacular cocktails! Holy shit, literally they have a CORN CHIP cocktail that I could not pass up. It comes with two massive cornchips on top of a flavored foam. When you bring the glass up to sip, the cornchips are right in front of your nose and their aroma sets the stage for the drink which was STRONG. It wasn't as corn chip forward as I expected but I understand that flavor is probaly hard to create. For my second drink, I ordered the blue one which was refreshing, light, and really good. GF ordered a spritz which was gorgeous "it was good". For second round, I picked out some uranium thing that was very cucumbery, GF says, "it was good". I just read it outloud to her. "it's true!" Fantastic meal at a great place.

He deserves major kudos for taking great care of us. I will definitely be back again for lunch and dinner. Check out the pool while you're there. It's comparable to any other pool. My son called and made reservations. The day came at I met him in the hotel lobby. We took the elevator up to the 25th (27th?? Can't remember) floor where the restaurant is. When we got there we were told that they weren't ready yet. We didn't even tell them we had reservations. So we waited. . . and waited. Finally my son walked over to the bar and told them that we had reservations. The bartender called a server out. She asked us if we were doing fine dining. I said that I wanted to check out the menu to see what they had. She took us to the back of the restaurant. We found out later that there was a nicer area but it was closed off. All of a sudden all of these people started coming in. It took us a minute and we realized that they were guests of the Embassy hotel. They must have been given tickets for free drinks. The bar line was long and stayed long. They were also given access to a very small snack buffet. The server that waited on us was the one and only server working the entire restaurant. She was constantly cleaning tables and checking on the snack buffet. So we had to wait ridiculous amounts of time to order, to get our food, and to even pay. I had ordered a cup of lobster and corn chowder. When I finally got it, it was barely room temperature. It tasted like it was straight out of a can. There was one tiny piece of lobster and about half a can of corn. I hadn't eaten since breakfast and was starving so I ate it. My son tried it and gave it a hard pass. As my entree I ordered shrimp tacos. There was seemed to be fresh pico on it but the shrimp was 90% breading. Not good. My son ordered the club type sandwich. It had a nice portion of meat on it and tasted ok. (That is what the one star is for.). Was very disappointed from start to finish. I won't be back. Ever.
