    Gyro crepe
    Jason F.

I stopped by here a couple of Thursdays ago with my wife for dinner. Our neighborhood has food trucks that come every other week and this week happened to be the Pittsburgh Crepe truck. Since it's a food truck there's not much to say about it other than it was being worked by a team of 2 on this day. They had both savory and sweet crepes as well as a few other menu items which were a surprise. For dinner on this evening I decided to go with a gyro crepe while my wife went the vegetable which came with a pesto sauce. After a wait of only 5 minutes or so we had our food and were headed back to our house to eat it. As soon as I opened mine I dug in as I was hungry. The crepe itself was light and airy with the gyro meat that was inside being decent. I also enjoyed the tzatziki sauce that was inside of it. Other than that it had some lettuce and some tomato which I gave to my wife. All too soon my gyro was gone and I was left still being hungry. My wife enjoyed her gyro and I loved the taste of the pesto sauce whenever she gave me a bite of hers. The bottom line for me is that I probably wouldn't stop by here again in the future. My food was decent enough and I enjoyed the flavor of my wife's pesto sauce but it would taken at least 2 crepes to fill me up.

This was the Nutella and Honey Crepe which was so sweet and delicious.

The PGH crepe truck came to our neighborhood. It had been a few years since I had them. Wow! They are amazing. He really upped his game since he started as a little food truck and offers so many more things now. He's also so nice. We got the Nutella and honey and the second one was the Reese's. Both were so crunchy and sweet. Now he offers so many different sweet and savory options. They're also super fast. Check him out if you ever see him around.

Loved the strawberry & banana with Nutella. Doesn't look like it but it was extremely filling.

Double crepes-- one sweet (left), one savory (right)

I visited this food truck when it was at the South Side Works Fall Food Festival on Sat. I wanted to hit both this truck and the PGH Pie Guy, but at the time that I arrived (5:45pm), the pie guy was packing up. Because this was the only other truck at the event I was interested in trying, I ordered a chicken ranch spinach crepe and a strawberry nutella crepe so that I could try both a savory and a sweet variety. Based on the other reviews for this food truck, I was expecting the flavor of these crepes to be great. Unfortunately, however, this was not the case. The chicken ranch crepe was bland tasting, even despite the ranch sauce. The strawberry crepe had a better flavor profile, but it still wasn't super-exciting. It consisted only of chopped strawberries and nutella, with none of the powdered sugar or whipped cream mentioned in other reviews, so I can't help but wonder if I was shortchanged. One other issue was the lack of napkins and utensils. Given the messiness of both types of crepes, I expected these to be available, but I wasn't able to find any. While I am not averse to eating the crepes by hand, doing so made for messy eating, and I wasn't able to clean up afterwards due to the lack of napkins. While I'm not a huge napkin user, I was left with a messy mouth and hands after eating the crepes that I had no way of cleaning up, which further detracted from my experience. While I hate to leave a negative rating, I feel that I have to in this case, given the various shortcomings and lack of redeeming factors. If napkins and/or utensils had been provided, I'd probably be willing to award 3 stars, but at present, I'm awarding 2.5 stars. If you like or want to try crepes, there's a place on Craig St. in N. Oakland I'd recommend leaps and bounds over this food truck.

    The Funnel Cake

Maybe just stick to crepes. Ordered the funnel cake from them at the food truck festival at Tanger Outlets. $8 for what looked to be already 3/4 eaten. Shameful...and bad/unfriendly service on top of it. SMH...SPEND your money somewhere else!

    Reece's crepe

The crepe was terrible, it was so crunchy, almost like a tortilla chip. The filling was non existent. I could've done a better job making my own crepe.. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND to anyone. $10 for a crepe. Do yourself a favor and spend your money somewhere else

I thought it was impossible to mess up crepes, but mine was awful! I would've rather eaten a tortilla with Nutella! This was dry, chewy and bland. It didn't have that moist, spongy texture you'd expect. I could literally tap on it and hear the hardness of it. I paid $8 for this! I would be a little less upset if the staff wasn't so rude and dismissive when I was so polite and cheery. I would never eat this again, and I'm not hard to please. I DID eat this at Kennywood Park, so I completely understand they could be busy, but that shouldn't affect the quality.

I've been a regular there since I moved in nearby, and from the start it was obvious that the people who work there sincerely care about making the experience nice. I've always been greeted with a smile, even during hectic weekend hours when the whole place is packed with a line out the door-- and even on the most full-house days, I've never been made to feel rushed. More than that, I always get the same thing there (I'm just a creature of habit-- every bite I've ever stolen from a friend's plate has also been delectable). The staff have picked up on this and will offer to get me "my usual" when I visit; it makes me feel valued and noticed, and they'll often use the time I would've spent ordering making conversation, asking about my day or the book I'm reading. I've never been to a place with such genuinely friendly staff, and I feel so lucky to live so close! Summed up: I never leave Cafe Moulin without a full stomach and a smile.

But the star of the show for me is the Shakshouka. I have gotten it the last 2 times I went. You also have to try their Dirty Chai. My only critique is the hostess at the front. She appeared overwhelmed by her role and was not warm. We were actually told by the waiters that "she is serious about her list". Which would be great if she managed it effectively. When I brought concerns that we had been pushed down the list 3 times for other parties. She responded "well, how do you know that" to which I responded "we watched you take their names down after ours and sit them before us". Her response was to shoo me off and tell me to go find a table myself; to which I did. But what a poor way to manage your stress, responsibility, and consumers. On the bright side my waiter/waitress was awesome per usual.
